Help -audio on imovie has a clicking sound

When I import a video tape from VCR using the formac convertor, I see the video and the audio is fine when importing, but when i play back it has a loud clicking sound in it. i can't figure out how to stop it. It was working fine before. Now i have this clicking. Any ideas on how to get it out of there?

I had a Formac years ago and had the same problem. I think there was a software patch at the Formac site that fixed the problem. You might try there.

  • Help pls! - continuous beeping and clicking sound on startup

    Hi everyone,
I have had my mac mini for about 3 months and it has often made this continuous beeping when the mac starts up before I input my password.  Being new to a Mac, I thought this was normal as the sound goes away as soon as i type my password in.  However more recently it has made this sound a few times after i have logged in and there are no programs running, just the desktop showing on the screen.  When this happens, the noise stops when I press a key and then starts up again straight afterwards.  The only way to stop the noise is to restart.  I've looked through the guide about tones and what they mean but none of the tones seem to fit with what I'm hearing as it is a contonuous sound without any pauses and the power light doesn't flash or anything.  I have recorded the sound if that helps, but I can't see a way to upload it here.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this, and if it's a problem what I should do?
    Thanks very much in advance
    Katie

    Hi BDAqua,
Thanks very much! No it doesn't make the sound when I start up without keyboard attached and then as soon as I plugged it back in the noise started again so i think we've found the cause!  I am still using a Dell keyboard just because I can type so much better on it but I guess I will have to make the switch to a mac keyboard.  Unless there is something more I can do to configure the keyboard?
    Thanks
    Katie

  • IMovie hourglasses after clicking sound

I have the latest software patches..
When I click on the music/sound effects browser, the thinking circle appears and just remains on. I have to force quit every time. Some thing is amiss, just need to know what it is so I can kill it. I have no other program running, 450 gigs left on the HD and 2 gigs of Ram. This is running in my iMac 24". iMovie 09.

  • Will the Apple Store give me a replacement iPhone 6 the one i have now has a clicking noise when you press on the screen. I have only had it for about 8 weeks is it a manufacterin fault or what.

My iPhone 6 has a clicking sound coming from the top left of the device as if its no aligned properly with the frame.
Ive only had it for about 2 months, the iphone its self is in pristine condition no bumps or scrapes, in fact i treat it
like a new born baby. Will the apple store give me a new replacement or i am wasting my time i have got a clue
never had this or any problem before with iPhone's before. Its not something you want having paid £620 i live
    in the UK.

If they determine the sound to be a manufacturing defect, then yes, they will replace your iPhone with a refurbished unit of identical specs. The replacement will have the same warranty as your original iPhone, for as long a time as what is left on your iPhone's warranty at the time of exchange.

  • Should Keyboard have the "clicking" sound when typing?

I noticed that the MacBook Pros, when typing on them, have the clicking sound when pressing each key. My wired keyboard also has a clicking sound when typing. However, the MBA I just received in the mail, does not. Only the space bar essentially does. Is this the same for all of them? Thanks.

Yes, this is normal. The keys don't really click, the spacebar isn't really a click but it makes a slightly more click like sound the other keys on the MBA.
The latest MBP keys are more like the MBA keys I believe.

  • Slight clicking sound in audio playback

Recently I've noticed my Mini making a slight fuzzy clicking sound at the beginning of any audio it plays back -- whether it's a 1-second event song or a 3-minute song. I use external speakers with it, but I tested it with headphones as well and heard the same thing. I'm honestly not sure if it happens with the internal speaker, because it doesn't really play loudly enough for me to pick it up.
Like I said, this is recent -- I'm sure it hasn't always done this (I've had the computer a little over a month now). Any ideas? It's a slight thing, but pretty bothersome.

    HI SUE,
Thank you for your suggestion. I went to the site and printed off the instructions. I imported my movie into iMovie again and started over with the process by following the suggestions on the print out. It didn't help. In fact the popping sound is even louder.
Do you have any more suggestions? Or do you know anyone else in the disscusion site that may be able to help.
I don't use the disscusion site very often. It ususally takes me a long time to find a disscusion topic that matches my inquiry.
Would you mind e-mailing me at [email protected] with any response you might have. I check my e-mail several times a day but am not always on the internet.
Thank you again for your help.

  • Help! RE: imovie audio

    Hello,
i have recorded some audio to imovie via the inline mike all fine so far, however i accidently left the internal mike on as well!!! thus ensuring that all the coughing and sniffing (due to a head cold from ****) has also been recorded to the project.
long and short is-is there any way i can remove the noise picked up from the internal mike whilst leaving the inline audio intact? or do i have to do the unthinkable and start the 1hr 20 mins audio project again........
any help is greatly appreciated and please, any explanation or should be in "idiot mode" as this is my first MAC
    thankyou!

    Welcome to iMovie Discussions.
Learning by experience is so much more effective than just being told ..especially when you make mistakes!
Er, what I mean is: No; you can't 'subtract' the unwanted audio (coughing & sniffing) from the wanted audio. Sorry!
If the excess audio were just a constant hum, or click, or buzz or beep, then you could remove it with a program like SoundSoap, which can 'learn' and identify "..hiss, clicks and crackles, buzzing and hum, rumble, and most other types of unwanted noise".
But the thing you can do is to use iMovie's "Clip Volume Levels" adjustment to fade down the soundtrack just before the coughing & sniffing happens.
To do this, just click on 'View' and 'Show Clip Volume Levels' (..or just hold down the Shift and Apple keys, and press 'L'..) and, when you're in 'Timeline' mode by clicking on the little Clock icon at bottom-left instead of the Film-frame icon, you'll then see a line all through your movie clips, and through the extra audio clips in the audio tracks.
You can then click on those lines, which represent your audio level(s), and drag them down and up to fade out the audio where you don't want it, and to fade it back up where you do want it!
Here are some tutorials on Apple's iMovie support site which explain exactly how to do this.
Good luck ..you'll probably do a great job just by sliding those levels down and back up again..

I purchased a Macbook Air 11" in January 2011. It has one key on the keyboard which sticks making an irritating clicking sound that I would like to get fixed. I took it into my local iStore but they were not at all encouraging, saying they doubt that Apple warranty will cover something like this, and also that the whole keyboard would have to be replaced as they don't do individual key repairs.
This is very unreasonable to me. Firstly, the keyboard does work (is not actually broken) although the intermittent clicking sound of a single key is very irritating to me and I expect more from an Apple product than a flawed keyboard.
Any thoughts, tips and insight on this greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to conclude by saying that I did go to an Apple store and after supplying proof of purchase and verifying the warranty etc, I had my MacBook checked out by one of the technicians who (after finding that my machine was immaculate bar the sticky keyboard of course) they replaced the entire keyboard within a week.
I was so happy with the helpful and prompt service and am now so happy with my new silent keyboard!
Also wanted to add that the young guy who told me at the iStore that he doubted Apple would support this and guessed Apple likely say it was due to user damage was being a tool, and he was obviously assuming  that I had done something wrong to break my keyboard.
This was my first Mac purchase and I was delighted to find that the support is genuine and not just a rumor... I have since gone on to purchase an iPad2 will probably buy the iMac too once my trusty PC needs replacing. I was never a PC hater and got on well with windows, and was actually reluctant to make the change - but so far so good :)
    Thanks for all the help!

    help

    Hi
I use no .mp3 audio in any of my movie projects - in iMovie HD6 or iM'08-11 or FinalCut Express or FinalCut Pro.
I convert (all various audio formats) to .aiff 16-bit 48kHz or use audio from audio-CDs .aiff 16-bit 44.1kHz.
I use Audacity (free audio editor on internet) to do this.
Result - No pops or clicks.

  • Click sound heard when clip audio is at 0

I am using iMovie 9.0.4.  I have several video clips in my movie, with audio from a .aiff file througout.  The video clips I am using have audio, but I don't want to hear it, so it set it to zero for each one.  But with video clips with especially loud audio, even when set to zero, I hear a click sound when they start, as it it is late by 5ms in attenutating the audio to zero.

clicking sound comes on my iphone 4 while taking photos even when iphone is in silence mode...Please help me out to solve my problem

The iPhone has a 1 year warranty. Restore the phone in iTunes with the latest iOS to remove the 'gray market'. You will then have to send it to your close friend, at your expense, to take it back to the Apple store in Toronto to have the phone looked at. Then your close friend will need to send the phone back to you, at your expense.
I would also sudggest that you send your friend a sim from your carrier in India. This way after it is fixed/replaced he can try the sim at the Apple store to ensure that it is unlocked.
    Good luck.

  • Recorded video has saturation clicks in sound track

Using my iPhone 4S running latest iOS6. Using the inbuilt camera app in video mode. I recorded a performance art event and all the audio on the video track has clicking sounds throughout which are so loud they have ruined the recording. Looking at the audio waveforms they all appear to be saturated where the clicks happen. There is no way to adjust the gain control using the camera app. Is there any solution or am I going to be unable to record any video in situations where the ambient sound is loud?
My phone is in a LifeProof case, if this makes a difference to the audio saturation.
Should I purchase a separate mini jack microphone?
Any third party video recorder app with gain control you know of?
    Thanks,
    Steve

Well, for what it's worth, I've not had too much success with it myself (otherwise I'd have made some suggestion).
If I have some minor clicks I tend to surgically remove them in editor. It can take ages, so I'd love to know an easier way too!

  • No Sound - Audio Output Device has stopped working

    Hi.
I've recently bought a new HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC Product Number F4T62EA#ABU with Windows 8 64-bit.  The audio device is a Realtek High Definition Audio device.
All was working fine until a few days ago when the audio device stopped working.  Here is the device status:
"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)".
I've tried to update the driver for the device but it is already up to date.  Can anyone let me know how this can be fixed please?

    Hi mailman1326,

Have you made any changes?   Did you update to Windows 8.1?
Here is a link to the software and driver page for you computer. HP Pavilion 15-n098sa Notebook PC Drivers.  You can use Windows restore to go back in time to when it was working correctly. Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows Vista). You can do a Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8) to restore back to factory. You could also run the  built in troubleshooter to help.
