HELP! BATTERY PROBLEMS, I THINK...

Hey,
Got problems with my MacBook Pro battery. It started when I noticed it was taking a REALLY super-long time to charge...I would leave it plugged in over night and in the morning, it would still be at 63%. Then, it would say it was fully charged, so I'd unplug it and work on it, and it would just go dead, even though I had more than half a battery left (at least according to the status icon). This has happened several times, and it doesn't start back up unless I plug it in.
To make matters worse, just this morning, I spilled hot coffee all over the laptop and now it's really giving me problems...it's on and working but it will just go out even though it's plugged in, and it takes a really long time to start up again.
Do I need to buy a new battery or calibrate or ??????? Can I get it back to normal?

Oh, that's really bad. You are probably never going to get that machine to be back to normal again.
Those grains can get in between the circuits and any left over residue that dries on it can short the circuits on it.
Time to move the hard drive out of your machine and put it in a replacement. Hopefully your homeowners insurance will cover that. Never let food nor drink near your computer.

My friend damaged the new battery? Help me please! (i'm sorry for my english but i'm italian.. hope i explained well the problem)

Take the iPod to someone with more experience with iPods/iPhones.
Apple will not help since you took it apart already

  • IPod battery problem I think?!?

When I plug my iPod in with a Firewire cable into my G4 it comes on and can play songs etc. As soon as I eject and then take the cable out of the iPod it switches off and won't come back on until I plug the Firewire cable back in.
I have tried resetting, update, restoring etc with no luck. I tried using a USB cable and all I get is the battery charging symbol on the iPod screen but the charge icon doeasn't move, it just stays with the bottom 1/3 filled.
Does this mean I need a new battery?

    Hi there,
I guess it depends on how long you've had your iPod for and how often you use it.
For example, is it more than a couple of years old, and when you recharge it, do you wait until the battery has nearly run out of juice or do you charge whenever you feel like it irrespective of how much charge the battery currently has?
I think it says somewhere that most iPod batteries are good for a thousand charges or more depending on you being a good owner and charging it up fully, then running it down fully each time...
Replacement batteries can be had in many places now, such as on the Newertech website as well as Sonnet Technologies.
On the face of it, it does sound like your battery is dead. That's just on the face of it, mind.

what do i need to do?

You need to replace your battery.
Your Full Charge Capacity (949) is incredibly low; the original capacity when the computer was new was about 5400.
Is your machine under warranty? If so, it certainly can't hurt to bring the machine to an Apple store and ask if the battery could be replaced at no cost to you. The batteries in the older MacBooks should hold on to 80% or more of their original capacity for about 300 cycles, and yours is only a bit over 300.
If you can't get a free replacement, you'll have to pay for a new battery to stop the sudden shutdowns.

  • V570 battery problems HELP !!

Hi as I said I have a v570 ive had it about a year ,and today its saying that I need to replace the battery and that theres a problem with the battery Exact warning is There is a problem with your battery so your computer may shut down suddenly .Im really worried ,right now its my dedicated computer and I have a ton of work to get done on it so im really dependent on it .What I wanted to know is
1If I can just keep using it pluged into the adapter even if the battery has problems ,I think thats called ac power ?
2 if this could be an error message (and if I can do anything about that).I more than likely cant get a battery for it ,so im kinda screwed here .And I dont think I can afford another computer right also this has like a lot of stuff on it so thats not an option .help ? please

Wait take it out along with the adapter and then hold the power button again ,with it out ? can I ask why ,just for curiousity ,as it doesnt have either battery or charger wouldnt it be technically without any power ? Or does it have residual power or something .Again thank you
It needs to be done without adapter and without battery. This process releases any residual charge from system. This helps in most hardware cases.
The settings in Energy Management do not lead to the issue that you are facing. Also battery gauge rest\et does a full discharge and charge of battery. It helps in activating all cells of battery and increase backup. In your case, I would suggest not to try it. It may cause more damage.

      Windows XP Pro

It's very difficult now to revert to older firmware because the updater is now integrated to iTunes.

  • I think ios 5.0.1 has fixed my battery problem on ipad 1

Was glad to see this morning when I woke up ios 5.0.1 was out.
I downloaded it straight away through the ipad it self..
Once done I then charged up my ipad to full 100% ..
Now I started using it from around 9am this morning and its 4.10 pm now.. and I'm still at 89% battery...I think i can safely say the problem has been fixed
I don't know if this is normal or not..but to drop down from 100% to 99% it took around 33 mins... but I did notice from 99% to 93% it was dropping like 1% every 7-8 mins.. anyways i left it around midday at 90% 4 hours has passed now and its down to 89%... so im really pleased with the fix. I hope it stays this way lol.
Has IOS 5.0.1 fixed everyone's ipads battery problems??
Been reading up for the iphone 4s also and it seems 5.0.1 hasn't done anything for the battery charge... was really hoping to purchase a 4s soon ..but if they still have the battery problem I guess I'll have to wait a little longer.

In terms of the battery, if you are not already doing so you should go through at least one charge cycle per month i.e. charging to 100%, running it down so that powers off, and then charging back up to 100%, which should help keep the battery indicator accurate - it's recommended towards the bottom of this page http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html
I hadn't noticed any problems with the battery on my first gen iPad, but I've updated anyway.

  • Solved my iPhone 5 Battery Problems: Maybe it can help you!

Hi every one, I saw many topics regarding battery problems with the iPhone 5. I responded to one discussion describing what I did to solve the iPhone 5 battery dying fast on me. So I thought I'd make a discussion here to help out other users with the same problem.
I would have 25-30% drop with in the hour and all I did was text a couple of my friends. I was using an iPhone 4 for the longest time, and on that phone I was able to watch videos, listen to music and use all the other features of the phone. The battery still lasted me the whole day, I was getting  worried that I wouldn't be able to use the iPhone 5 the same with out it dying on me fast.
My friend suggested draining the battery and then charging the phone to see if any improvements were seen. I did that and I saw a small change in the battery strength. I drained the battery two more times, and that is when I saw a huge difference.
I use my Phone as my iPod when I work out, and I run continuous music on it for 1.5-2 hours straight, along with sending texts to my friends. In this duration I would only use 15-20% which was a huge improvement from before. I would say that the battery life was on par with my iPhone 4 battery! It is such a relief, now I can use my iPhone 5 to it's fullest potential without having to worry it'll die on me fast.
I recommend other iPhone 5 users try draining their batteries a couple of times before charging as well if they are experiencing problems.
    Hope this helps!
    Dylan

I would let the battery completely die before I would charge it again. I would keep 3g off and only turn it on if I'm going to use it and turn it off again. Because the phone uses more power for the 3g/4g that the battery dies even faster.
I text a lot to friends so I'm constantly texting through out the day and when I work out continously run music on it for close to 2hours. It would only drain 15-20% of the battery, which really is a huge improvement.
I also use Siri quite often through wifi and it barely uses any battery power. Try letting the phone die until it turns off a couple of times before you charge it. That is what I did before a friend requested doing that after I was getting fraustrated with the battery power.

  • Hello MacHeads: I downloaded Handbrake 0.9.1 for Tiger, so I can upload a homemade DVD for editing in imovie.  Problem is I can't even access Handbrake Help book, because I think my firewall settings are preventing me.  I tried turning off all my firewall

Hello MacHeads: I downloaded Handbrake 0.9.1 for Tiger, so I can upload a homemade DVD for editing in imovie.  Problem is I can't even access Handbrake Help book, because I think my firewall settings are preventing me.  I tried turning off all my firewall settings.?  IDK if I'm even doing that right.  Can anyone help out here?

You don't need Handbrake for that if it is your own DVD.
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle.
a DVD is in a compresed format called mpeg2, which is standard across all DVDs. This is what is known as a 'final delivery format' and is not suitable for editing. Because is is compressed, a 4.7GB DVD can hold a two hour movie (dual layer DVDs twice that), whereas the DV stream from a video camera, which runs at about 13GB per hour, is not compressed and IS intended for editing.
In other words you have to 'reverse engineer' the DVD back to an uncompressed format in ordfer to edit it. There is a penalty for doing this in terms of slight quality loss, but it is one you can live with.
When you have your DVD as an icon on your desktop, double-click it, and it will open to reveal a TS-Folder containing a number of various files, some called VOB. These are the constituent parts of any video DVD.
When you have downloaded and installed mpegStreamclip, and purchased and installed the Apple mpeg2 plugin, open mpegStreamclip and drag the entire TS Folder into its window. Then using the various menus available to you (just explore them and you will get the hang of it) ask it to convert to DV.
That DV file, which will be many times larger than the original TS Folder, and which can a while to create (be patient - make coffee or prune the roses!) is what you can now import into iMovie for editing etc.
When you have finished doing that, you then have to turn the project back into a DVD.
mpegStreamclip can be downloaded from here:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
