Help,Bay Adapter of W530

I wanna customize a Thinkpad W530, but when it comes to  Optical device: 2nd 320GB HDD, 7200rpm with Bay Adapter, what does Bay Adapter look like?
Is it ThinkPad 12.7mm Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter III, Part number:0A65623 ,
please see the detail on http://shop.lenovo.com/us/itemdetails/0A65623/460/6F86C47E2E014840BD6AC53CE9C2297A
Could anyone who got the W530 help me conform that? Your kindness will be appreciated.

Yes, that's the detailed specs on the support site for the Ultrabay III drive tray.  This fits W520 and W530, along with T420/T430 and T520/T530.    Looks like we just haven't updated that page to reflect the compatibility with the new models at time of this post.
Note: the T420s and T430s require a slimmer unit, and if you use the T420s or T430s bay or optical  in the other T and W's you will have a gap.

  • W530 Drive Bay Adapter and Drive Caddy

I purchased a W530 and immediatly swapped out the included hard drive for an SSD. I also purchased the drive bay adapter and planned on moving that original drive to it, but it did not come with a drive caddy. If the drive bay does not come with an extra one, and hard drives do not come with them.... why was it not included? Where do I purchase one? Does it need those rubber sides that are now around the SSD?

    Hey Chuntley,
If you search around the forums you will find a lot of post on this or close to this subject about installing a second drive to W530.
Here is a link to one such post.

  • Lock on bay adapter will not unlock

    Hey guys,
Just got my W530 and its a great machine except for 2 things. The battery looseness which I have read is normal for one.
The other problem is that I cant eject my hard drive bay adapter that came configured with it. The lock position from "lock" to "unlock" will not move and I have used considerable force. Any more and I feared breaking the plastic.
Does anyone know any tricks to get this open, is it is just a matter of force? I have seen videos on the net where they open quite easily.
    Thanks alot.

  • T520 with HDD Bay adapter

    Hei there,
i have seriously problems with the Ultrabay HDD SATA adapter in my new T520. I have a 500 GB Toshiba disk in it and all works fine until i set the machine in sleep. (Close the lid or something else).
After powering up the notebook again the disk is disappeared. And there is obviously no power on the disk either. I have already tried a lot of things to get it back but nothing helps. The only way to get the disk back is to power down the whole machine, remove the adapter, put the adapter back and power on again.
I tried to use the diskupdate.exe in scheduled tasks - it doesn't help.
I tried also to put back the DVD-drive and change the power setup there for the bay - it doesn't help either.
I tried to copy the DVD-link with the power on option on the desktop and use it against the HDD-Bay adapter, nothing happens.
As it is now, the Harddisk is quite useless. Every time when i set the machine in sleep i'm loosing the harddrive connection and have to reboot all. Does anybody have any ide how to solve this problem?
    Much thanks for any help
    Florian

There have been other threads on powering the Ultrabay. But I am not sure if the solution for this was covered. You could look.
I my opinion there should be a BIOS setting to keep power to the bay all the time. I did see PowerManagement for DVD powered but whether it would help the drive is doubtfull. The Sata is not a hot plug drive and requires a reboot to rediscover it hence the BIOS should maintain control.
Just check and there is "Automatic Power off Optical drive" Enable/Disable in PowerManager under the Systems settings pull down.

  • T510/520 Drive Bay Adapter III and SSD compatibility

    Hi,
I would like to use a Drive Bay Adapter III with some SSD as second drive on my T510 and T520 (I would switch it between those two laptops, use it to transfer data and so on). Are there any compatibility issues out there? Should I avoid certain SSD controllers or is it perfectly the same if I go for Sandforce or Marvell or any other?
    Thank you.

    Hello flashheart:
The Drive Bay Adapter III or Ultrabay adaptor (#0A65623) would replace the optical drive, which you probably are already aware of. There should not be any compatibility issues with either of those controllers but I have read many instances in the forum that the Sandforce controller is probably the fastest.
Some more information on the adapter:

  • 41N3013 HD with 40Y8725 Bay Adapter

I bought a 100GB hard drive, model 41N3013, and a serial hard drive bay adapter, model 40Y8725.  When I plug them into my T60, it does not show up under My Computer or under Disk Management.  I believe these should be compatible and work.  Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.  Otherwise I might have wasted a chunk of money.  Thanks.

  • Thinkpad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter

I would like to install a second hard drive in my T61. I saw a thread that advised I can do this by purchasing a "Thinkpad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter". The thread also had a link where one can be purchased. However, the page displayed by the link said that the product was unavailable. Do I have any other options for installing a second hard drive? Will this adapter become available for purchase in the future? I want to install solaris or Linux on the second drive and boot from it, I assume this is possible. Thanks.

according to the Lenovo website, yes it is the right model for the T61.

  • External Style Bay Adapter for T5200

I am now using a 2nd HDD in the internal Style Bay of my Satellite T5200-802, which I do not want to remove anymore.
I am looking for an external Style Bay Adapter (via USB/ Firewire) for the above to use my Toshiba Style Bay Bridge Media Adapter.
Can someone let me have the correct Toshiba Part No., the dealer (mailorder) - where I had bought the notebook - say they can only order once I have the correct Toshiba Part No., as they are only specialized on complete Notebooks etc.
    Thanks for help

    Hi,
As far as I know there is no external adapter. My opinion is that you can use your second HDD as external device. I use external 60GB HDD integrated in USB 2.0 Slim Size Hi-Speed 2.5" Hard Drive aluminum Case.
It is easy to use and to connect if I need it.

  • ThinkPad SATA HD rive Bay Adapter III

i have ordered T410S and i have my own X25-M 160G SSD. i intend to buy a Bay Adapter III and sub it in optical drive place with SSD. my question is: does this adapter support X25-M 160G SSD? cuz the website says it just supports thinkpad hard disk.  THX

you would need to get a 1.8 inch to 2.5 inch caddy inorder to use the SSD in that ultrabay adapter.

  • Thinkpad 256GB Solid State Drive 43N3417 won't fit into Drive Bay Adapter 43N3412

According to Document ID  PD010634, http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-73170 and Document ID  PD013418, http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-73173 it should fit with the 1.8" to 2.5" converter.
When I try to fit the drive into the Drive Bay Adapter, it won't fit.  It is like the plastic housing is just a little too big.  The adapted drive end appears to be correct, but the housing is just a little too big.  I don't want to force it and break something.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks so much.

    Hello,
    please try the following procedure.
Then SSD must be installed in your TP. Then clone your image from extern disc to internal SSD.
The other way, from internal to external , won´t work.

  • Photo Tasks - Help w/ Configuration for W530

    Hi everyone,
I'm looking at the W530 as my primary computer for work and would love some guidance regarding the ideal configuration.
    Main Tasks:
    -Lightroom (heavy use)
    -Photoshop (light-medium use)
    -Internet Browsing
    -Email
The main components I'm wondering about are:
    1. Processor
Will the i7-3610QM be enough for processing images? Or is it worth spending more to get the i7-3520M or i7-3720QM?
    2. Graphics card
Will the K1000M be sufficient for photo editing? Or is it worth an extra $250 for the K2000M?
    3. Memory
Of these two options, is one preferred over the other?
    8 GB DDR3 - 1600MHz (2 DIMM)
    8 GB DDR3 - 1600MHz (1 DIMM) [add $50.00]
    Also a couple additional questions.
-Is the Color Sensor worth the upgrade?
-Is the 1920x1080 screen anti-glare a pretty matte-like screen? How are reflections?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
    Kim
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Kim,
I am a commercial photographer using a w520. I shoot tethered and process/manage images with Lightroom and Photoshop 5.5. I took it that you were planning to order a unit and asking about options. Your work and workflow needs might be very different than mine. I rarely have 900 images from a shoot that will have to be batched through a series of Lightroom presets. If that is the case I also have a production machine in my office that is a 16Gig RAM Ivy Bridge desktop with a AMD FirePro GPU.
First thought: I spec'ed several option sets, spoke with Lenovo sales about the three-week wait, then stumbled on pre-packaged configurations *in stock* at Tiger Direct and as much as $900-1000 less. Same unit! I don't have the files with me here to be absolutely sure I am naming the right savings figures but look before you push the button on a Lenovo order.
Second: I am happy with my speed with a 2720QM (think I have the number right), four-core processor that's not the fastest MHz offered but had the four cores. I went with 8Gig and I believe I set it up to take another 8Gig if I needed it. I find that Lightroom and even PS aren't as RAM hungry as I'd like! LR especially is not sped up with more RAM. But the speed isn't as fast as the production machine I mentioned but it's OK.
I did research a bit what routines get off-loaded to GPUs by Adobe's LR and PS code and right now that help is somewhat limited. My hunch is that outside the true 3D and mechanical design community the nVidia 1000 sub-board is OK. There is a poster here, "harrisb" through whose posts about GPU and CPU thoughts and investigations you absolutely should dig. I hope he will chime in about your CPU choice.
I have what was called the "HD" 1920x1080 screen and it has a very fine matte and I like it a lot. I have never put my own ColorMunki on it, but plan to do so. There are a LOT of complaints about the color calibration gear and sw included in those certain configurations of the w520. Avoid. Buy the color munki with the money you save. More flexible tool as a separate purchase and device. Others with more color management skill than I should comment here, please. There is a lok of highe gamut about this unit even though the details of its manufacture wouldn't point to perfection. Not IPS, for example? Search here in the forum for more. I am having a trouble getting the driver to work correctly fore my screen. There is supposed to be a control dialog box for the nVidia CUDA 1000 routines that never shows up on my unit.
Definitely plan to put an SSD in the unit. I went with the 80Gig Intel mSATA option in November 2011 and will be placing a Samsung 830 256Gig unit in there in the next week. I use a Hitachi 750 drive in the HD bay now, will place that in the optical bay. I really need a 1TB drive at this point. You can do this yourself. There is plenty of guidance here on the forum.
PM me your website, and I will respond. Love Denver, was a photographer in the ski biz for a while.
    Best of luck.

  • Help on adapter module configuration

    Hi Folks,
I want to pick a file and placed in the archive location.  I want to develope a adapter module for this. Can any one please let me know how would I develope an adapter module for this.
    Your help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
It depends which SFTP adapter you are using as some vendors support archiving such as AEDAPTIVe SFTP Adapter (http://www.aedaptive.com/index.php/solutions/sftp-for-sap-netweaver) but I guess you are using Seeburger SFTP adapter ?
However, if your adapter does not support archiving and you want to write an adapter module, you can refer the following link:

  • New Bee, Help File Adapter

    Hi ,
I am new to XI , I have a basic question on file adapter.
I have configured a file adapter to pick a file with name abc.txt and delete it. Assumes my total scenario takes 30 min to complete. If i get another file in the source folder after 5 min. Does XI process the second file also parallel. Or does it finish first file and then process the second file?
    Regards
    Monika Dietz

    Hi,
    >>>>Or does it finish first file and then process the second file?
the file adapter will pick the file as soon as possible
from the folder but you can set quality of service
EOIO so it will wait until the first one will finish
(and other parameters in the integration eigine
so your flow will be processed by one queue only)
but basically it will be processed in paralel
    (with standard config)
