Help? Black Screen? Panicking!
I was out for the day and had no internet connection on my iphone 4; but i was sending messages to a friend via app and they weren't connecting because obviously no internet connection. My phone was working perfectly fine until I got home; where wifi connected and my phone started freezing and I think that was because of all the messages that weren't connecting were going through. And a friend was calling me via app and I was trying to press answer but my whole phone froze and didnt work until minutes later where I could hear my friend talk and i can talk back but i couldnt press anything nor could i turn off my phone. And then it suddenly shut down and black screened and not I can't turn it back on. It's been at least an hour and 20 minutes and i left it charging. i tried resetting it with home/shut down button, i tried the itunes connect which also brings up another problem - I tried connecting my phone to my laptop to bring up itunes and it usually does and within seconds but this time - nothing came up; no itunes or anything like that. And it wasnt because my device was unrecognizable. I know it wasn't dying since I still had roughly 30%? and it doesnt die until it reaches 10%.
Help please? I'm really worried that it might have died permenately.
OMG! The same thing just happened to me tonight. I don't know what to do. I bought mine on December 23rd. I hooked it up to my computer and itunes syncs with it fine. I can hear it ring, but I can't answer it. This *****! I guess I'll have to go to the Apple store tomorrow. Did you figure it out?

Please help - black screen blinking cursor 24" imac and XP home sp2
Brand new 24" imac purchased yesterday from the apple store with a 4 gig ram upgrade (i.e. all the newest stuff/versions). All updates installed & current.
Brand new (clean & scratchless) copy of Windows XP Home with SP2.
I ran the bootcamp assistant and made a 20 gig windows parition (so its under the 32 gig limit of fat32).
Following the installation procedure the windows disk is inserted, the machine reboots and then it just sits there with a black screen and a blinking cursor. The CD drive stops spinning and no progress from that point forward.
I then read on here some had better lucky with a "copy" of the original windows disk so I duplicated it in this Mac (i.e. burned with its own drive) but exactly the same problem with the burned copy (which also opens fine from within OSX).
I'm at a loss... where to go from here? We decided to try apple because they assured us we could run our "windows only aps" on the bootcamp side of the hardware but bootcamp isn't working!
Please advise...
If any of this helps:

Welcome to the Apple forums:
Be sure your XP disk had SP2 embedded into XP, and not a separate file or patch.
Also be sure your disk is not an ISO image but a real disk, with files on it. You can look at them using your Mac. Insert the CD or DVD and doubleclick the disk icon.
You should see most or all of the following files and folders:
(HOMEWITHSP2)
AUTORUN.INF
DOCS
DOTNETFX
I386
README.HTM
SETUP.EXE
SETUPXP.HTM
SUPPORT
VALUEADD
WIN51
WIN51IC
WIN51IC.SP2
When you copied the disk, did you make sure your copy was Windows readable? Mac has several formats, one of which is Mac-only for data CDs. You need to select the universal mode, Mac and Windows for the data image and when burning the image.
Also be sure you selected to close or finalize the CD after burning or it cannot be read by Windows. -
Please help. black screen when copying back to tape
I would be very grateful of any help. I am trying to copy a movie back to tape however when i do so it results in the recording on the tape being completly black. it has gone through the process but just left a black screen.
very desperate.
Thanks... and it did work before...? not all European camcorders allow a DV-IN...
cable checked?
finally: iM handle both video standards, even allows to import PAL footage into a NTSC project.. but cameras are 'hardwired' to one standard.. make sure, your project has same standard as camera.. (besides: Apple lingo is a little 'cryptical': '25 frames per second' = PAL, '30fps' = NTSC)
it could have happen, that you incidently created a NTSC project with your PAL footage. and now, it is impossible to playout THAT into/onto (english??) tape ... -
Please Help: Black screen on Start up.
We lost our power due to a storm yesterday. My week old intel iMac was asleep when the power was cut and when I re-booted, all I got was the start up sound and then a black screen.
The light in the mouse is visible and when the spacebar is pressed I hear the error sound.
I have re-set the pram several times as well as left it un-plugged for and an hour. No change.
Any ideas?

It will take a little longer, but once booted up, choose File>Utilities>Disk Utility and Repair the Disk. Then restart as normal and see if that helps. You may need something more robust from a 3rd party, like DiskWarrior (which I think should be owned by all Mac users personally), to perform a proper repair. But anyway, try this and post back.

Help----black screen during set up
when setting up macbookpro, I made the apparently fatal mistake of not entering an admin password. Tried to go back and fix it by booting from original install Tiger disc. couldn't visualize option to reset pass. started the install, hoping it would bring up the option. then stopped the install, not wanting to reinstall over the existing system . It said you may not be able to start up in X. and sure enough.... Now I can only boot up from the install. Should I go thru the whole install now (two disks)? I did finally get the password reset, but it won't start with folder of system selected. HD icon gone. Also, the disc is still in, how do I get it to eject? Black screen says: Localhost:/root# CSRHIDtransitionDriver::Stop
10BluetoothHCIController::start Idle Timer Stopped. ANY help would be great. I'm really stuck here......I thought of something else, I ran CleanMyMac 2 and when it was finished all the problems started.

TS3354 Video playback help - black screen
I'm trying to view my TV shows but all I get is a black screen. My movies seem to be loading just fine, though. I've already updated my iTunes thinking that that would be the problem, but nothing has changed. Any suggestions?
Each display is fed by its own graphics card: I have two NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT PCI cards, with 256 MB dedicated VRAM each. I am running two Dell 24" displays @ 1080p via DVI.
The source material is Uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2 (with all FX rendered).
"External Video" settings:
When I brought up System Profiler just now, I noticed several oddities, one being that it says I have 0MB of VRAM, and the other being that one of my cards takes up 1 pin on the PCIe bus... Very strange! ???
Card from Slot-1: (0 MB of VRAM?)
Card from Slot-2: (0 MB of VRAM and x1 Pin Width?)
(It says "no display connected" because each card has two DVI outputs.) -
Need Help Black Screen Problem?
My screen keeps going black. I set the "Preferance" to 1 hour but that didn't help.
I am a new Apple user on an older machine -- iBook with MAC OS X (104 Tiger)
Thanks for any suggestions.
MVCTough to tell, but Might try these things...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these files to the Desktop.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.AutoWake.plist
(Then Trash the original of these last two, as "moving" them only copies them.)
Then reboot once more.
Have you done a PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
Does it boot into Open Firmware with CMD+Option+o+f ?
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42642
reset-nvram (press Enter)
set-defaults (press Enter)
reset-all (press Enter)
It could also be a heat issue, or Videocard/Logic board failing. -

My iMac 8.1 (10.6.8 ) was slowing down and had recurrent permissions problems, mostly with Java. I backed everything up, and then re-installed from time machine. Now all I get is a black screen which says I need to reboot. Power+D gives me a hardware error message: 4 MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1336 or HDD-1327. When I reboot from the OSX CD and start disc utilities everything checks out OK. When I reload 10.5.2 from the OSX CD everything seems to work OK and no more permissions problems. But then I loose all my email and safari stuff. Anyone have any ideas short of going back to my old PC?

Hi
Thanks for the help. No point in fooling around with it any more. Will I be able to use it as a monitor if I get a mimi mac?
Cheers. Don
No unfortunatley it's too old, you are referring to Target Display Mode which became avialble in 2009, your 2008 needs to have the HD replaced. I'd still do that if everything else is OK or you can simply buy a new MM and display or even a new iMac or an Apple refurbished iMac to save money. -
A movie I bought a while ago will no longer play, instead it just shows a black screen and no audio. All of the other movies in my library play fine. Any ideas as to whats going on or how to fix it? Thanks for any help.
Hi 22chill,
I recommend that we delete and re-download the movie from your purchase history:

Installed the update tonight and now my phone (Lumia 928) won't power up. I've tried a soft reset, but the screen goes from the Nokia logo to a red Verizon screen to a black screen. Tried it 10 times with the same result. What's wrong and how do I fix it? Help!
Oh no Mr.Ected!
I can see if we can get your phone back on! I understand how important it is to have a phone. Have you tried this to see if we can get it back on? http://vz.to/1DZhteH . If it is still goes to a red Verizon screen and then to black we might need to do a master reset. While the phone is off try this:http://vz.to/1DZhXkU Be mindful this is the last resort because it will erase everything on the phone. If you have done back up assistant in the past you will be able to get you contacts back. Please let me know if you need any more help.

Windows Server 2008 black screen with mouse *PLEASE HELP*
Hello fellow techs,
I have been tearing my hair out for the past 12hrs on this issue.
About 3 weeks ago, one of our clients reported that they were experiencing
issues on the network so one of the staff went into the server room and noticed
the screen was black with only the cursor. As they couldn't reboot, they
decided to hold the power button to power it off. When they powered it back
up, it went passed the windows loading
splash screen, and again the screen is black with
the mouse pointer in the center of the screen.
I am diagnosing the server and find that at the black screen, I’m able to move
the cursor and beyond that nothing happened. I started in safe mode with the
exact same results.
I have been trying many different solutions from posts that I have found in
Google but no change.
From other machines you can type \\servername in
the run box and see the shared folders, as well as ping it.
This is a very urgent request as I need to have the Server back up and running
by tomorrow.
I am quiet willing to pay for phone support with anyone that can assist as soon
as possible. I am happy to transfer founds via Paypal.<o:p></o:p>
