Help, blurry images in lightroom 3

All of a sudden, every image that I import to lightroom 3 looks out of focus in the library and develop modules unless I zoom in.  Then when I export the image, it still looks out of focus.  This has never happened before, and is not due to camera error, as I loaded the same images into LR2 and they are perfect.  I also tried re loading old images that I know are in focus back into LR3 and they now appear blurry.  Please help

Sorry, here is my screenshot:

I just imported my first pictures in Lightroom. They are blurry or pixielated. I am wondering if my images (D800 camera w/36mp) are not compatible with a laptop with a likely low resolution monitor. If I am correct, please advise if there is a pardon the pun resolution to the problem.   Illinoisboy

Thanks for your response.  This is occuring in all  views, be it grid, loupe, library or develop.  It is across the entirity  of lightroom, it almost seems like the colourspace has been changed.   I'm new to this forum but im going to attach a few images so you  can see what im talking about more clearly (i have done screen caps, one full screen and one zoomed in for both lightroom and explorer)
    Many thanks

  • Help! Images blurry when emailed through lightroom

I am new to photo editing and Lightroom, but I am encountering this problem and haven't been able to find a solution through searching online. I will edit a photo in Lightroom and it will look great. I will then attempt to export it, and then select email.  I started using the standard settings but when the images are received in email, they are very blurry. I then tried making sure that it was sharpened for screen viewing and still didn't help.
    Suggestions?

What size are the images in Lightroom? I am asking about pixels (width and height), not file size in megabtyes/kilobytes.
What size are the images after you export them from Ligthroom? I am asking about pixels (width and height), not file size in megabtyes/kilobytes.
What export settings have you chosen in the File Sizing section of the Lightroom Export dialog box?

When I open the RAW files in PS or Bridge etc they look fine, and when I  export the images from lightroom as JPG's they are fine, it seems like  it just the way the images are displayed in Lightroom.

    Hi Ashley Clavette,
The Initial view setting works perfectly when the file is opened in Acrobat after setting the desired Initial View.
When you upload the file onto Wordpress, and view it on that website in the browser...it might be using a different pdf handler program which might be causing this issue ( it would be helpful, if you could provide the screenshot) , however when you download the pdf again from wordpress server...and open in Acrobat/Reader...then what  exactly happens ?  Does the pdf opens in the desired Initial View setting?

  • How do I resize an image in Lightroom?

Hi everyone, was wondering if someone can help me as am trying to resize and image in lightroom and cannot find where to do it.. please help. thanks alexandra

The Alamy upsizing is nonsense but you can actually use Lightroom export. You only have to use differnet numbers (presets) for different aspect ratios. These are the rough numbers for the aspect ratios I use:
Assuming they want 16x2^20 (16.777.216) pixels rather than 16x10^6 (16.000.000) pixels, the image dimension to upsize with LR are the following:
Aspect ratio 2:3 (portrait or landscape)
    ~ 5017 x 5017 pixels
    Aspect ratio 1:1 (square)
    ~ 4096 x 4096 pixels
Aspect ratio 16:9 (portrait or landscape)
    ~ 5462 x 5462 pixels
Aspect ratio 4:3 (portrait or landscape)
    ~ 4730 x 4730 pixels
You can store those in presets, use sort to sort the images by aspect ratio and export one set after the other with different presets.

  • CS 5 won't open images from Lightroom 3

    Hi,
I just upgraded to CS5 from CS3, and I've been using Lightroom 3 since it came out. The installation went fine. After working on some images in Lightroom 3.3, I tried to open them in CS5 12.02, and strange things started to happen. Some times the images open, some times they don't. This applies to NEFs, TIFFs, and PSDs. Sometimes when I try to open an image from my Lightroom catalog, CS5 mysteriously opens small jpegs of photos that are not even in my catalog. In fact, they are images I don't even recognize and did not even know were on my computer.
I called Adobe Customer Support. They were helpful, and they had me set CS5 as my external editor as well as being the primary editor. They also helped me reset my preferences for both Lightroom and CS5. This seemed to work, but when I opened Lightroom and CS5 the next day, the problem started happening again, even when I open images in CS5 using the second external editor.
I spent over and hour on the phone with Customer Support the first time, and I'm trying to get help elsewhere before I call again.
I have a MacBook Pro running Leopard 10.5.8 with 4 GB of RAM.
Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Another expirience is, when I try to open directly from Photoshop any other image, Photoshop ignores the XMP and opens the original file without any modification.
That's normal if the raw files were originally edited in Lightroom. Lightroom stores all edits in the catalog, not the xmp sidecar. You can set Lightroom to write to xmp as well, but that slows it down a little and so it's off by default. The Lightroom shortcut ctrl/cmd+S will also save to xmp.
I do have a warining at several images in Lightroom = "metadates have been changed - would you like to overwrite data or import ?"
That's related to the above, and also normal if you go the other way - edit in ACR and then move to Lightroom. It'll then be in xmp, but not the Lightroom catalog.
As for the missing on-screen image, that's a common video driver bug (although I suppose other causes are possible). For Windows you can download updated drivers directly from the manufacturer's website, but that's not possible with Mac. You'll have to wait for Apple to fix it.

  • Image size changes when moving an image between Lightroom and CC.

Image size changes when moving an image between Lightroom and CC.
I opened a .dng image in LR and then opened it in the Develop module.  I clicked on Crop Overlay and then on the ‘As Shot’ drop down menu (the lock is closed) and cropped to 11 x 17 and clicked ‘Done’-.
I click Cntl-E and the image opens in CC.  There I click on Image > Image Size and the Image Size  is 13.288 inches by 20.533 inches.
Why does the image size change?
I believe there is a menu to control the size of the image and I've looked everywhere I can think of in LR and CC, I googled various descriptions and I checked two of Scott Kelby's books, but I just can't figure out how to keep the image a consistent size when moving between LR and CC.
    Help!...Please?

The penny will drop soon or maybe the cloud will lift.
In Lightroom all editing is undoable/nondestructive.
Hence a crop of 3x2 is not inches, centimetres, pixels or anything else. It is jst a ratio. When a file is exported, either to PS or disk, then the crop ratio has size determined in respect of pixels and inches or cms.
So my 6000x5000 pixel image I will crop to 3x2 that leaves (before exporting) a 6000x4000 file.
Now when exported it can be set to export at
100pixels per inch and will end up at 60x40" when printed.
200pixels per inch will end up at 30x20"
    300ppi will end at 20x13.3"
You will notice in the Crop Tool there are no size denominations such as inches or centimetres as an image file only has pixels and the determination of size is done through exporting or printing.
    Hope that helps somewhat..

  • Fix blurry images downloaded from Safari (The semi-easy way)

Hi, I've noticed a couple of people around here have had problems with image quality (blurry images) whenever an image was saved to the camera roll from Safari.
Turns out, there is a simple fix for this!
This fix requires a drawing app such as Brushes (Or any drawing app where you can take an image from your camera roll, and save to your camera roll).
Now, just open the image that is blurry in the selected drawing app.
Notice anything? The image is no longer blurry! Woo!
Now just save the image back to your camera roll, and delete the old blurry image. You won't be needing it anymore.
    Problem solved.
(I think opening the picture in the drawing app reduces the size of said picture, making it less blurry. I'll try this the next time I find a blurry image to see the changes in quality. I'll also include a picture guide for those that don't understand how to do this (But would you really need it :P))
Hope this helps all that have this problem!

Like I said, I noticed a lot of people having this problem, so I decided to post this to hold everyone over until the problem is fixed. Maybe this problem will secretly be fixed in the 3.0 update? It certainly is easier and quicker than uploading the blurry photo itself into a program such as Photoshop and editing the dimensions there.

  • Sending images from lightroom 5 to elements 12 for panorama.

Hello. I have elements 12 and lightroom 5 installed. I go to send 5 images from lightroom to send to elements to do the pano. When I select the 5 images I want I click go to edit and then select merge in panorama. It then opens up elements 12 but after waiting for some time the images font show up. It used to work but now it don't. In lightroom 5 I have it set in the presences right so my external editor is elements 12. After a while I looked in my pictures section in windows and lo and behold all my images that I have sent to elements to do psn os with are in pictures section as raw files. So lightroom is sending them but not to my external editor.
Can someone please help me this is very frustrating.
thanks for any help you can offer me.

Which version of Lightroom 5 do you have?
Which version of camera raw are you using in photoshop elements 12?
In Lightroom what are the preferences at the top of the External Editing tab set to?
I realize that yours may be different, because you don't have photoshop installed, but here even though photoshop cc 2014 is on this machine, as long as i have pse 12 and not cc 2014 open before
choosing Photo>Edit in>Merge to Panorama in Photoshop, it does work for pse 12 with nikon nef files (camera raw files), but it uses the preferences at the top of the external editing tab instead of the ones below.
So if the Bit Depth is not set to to 8 bits/channel then photomerge doesn't work.

  • Can't upload Canon 6D raw images to Lightroom v 4.4

Hi - hope someone can help. Not very technical but just upgraded my camera to a Canon 6D and tried to upload my raw images to LIghtroom v 4.4.  Keep getting and error message that it does not recognize the files.  Any help would be appreciated

When you say the files could not "upload" I guess you mean "import". I suspect you are trying to copy them to a particular hard drive/ folder. Make sure that you have full permissions for the drive/folder that you are trying to copy the file to.
A message that the files could not be read could be that the files could not have been first written to the particular folder.
If you need further help please give full particulars of you computer and operating system.

  • Blurry Images

Hello, I am using Fireworks 8. When I create a nav bar or
other image, I have an issue with the image being blurry when I
import into Dreamweaver. I have image resolution set to 500 pixels
per inch which seems good enough to me and I am not stretching or
otherwise skewing the image in the table cell I am inserting it
into. I should say that I am new to Fireworks and also that the
images look fine in Fireworks. Thanks in advance.

The problem might be the export settings.
Open the Optimize panel, and then click on the Preview button
    at the top
of the document window. Test the image with the various
    export settings.
GIF for vector images and text with no gradients. JPEG for
    photo images
and gradients. When you like the way the image looks, test in
    your
    browser again.

  • Blurry images question

OK, I have run into a problem troed to solve now I have to ask the ID gods. I have a project that I did which was to edit some text and change some links in an .indd file.
I was sent a pdf to look at first along with t a list of instructions. The pdf looked fine all images nice and crisp, then I was sent the .indd master file for that pdf.
When  opened the master .indd file I noticed that there are a few images which are blurry. But looking at the pdf that came from this .indd the pics are fine.
I need to get to the bottom of this as there is no need to re export and save as  a new pdf as I see the blurred pics are in the .indd.
    Any help here?
    R

OK here is a fact, when I do a project I usually get the pacakage folder with all links but this indd did not have a linked image file I just got the ind itself, yet when I opened it I got the missing links message but the images were viewable inside the .indd file the complaint was after I did the edots and resaved that is when the blurry images were noticed But these were in the indd before, so moving on.
I now have got the images in another separate file but the images are not linked. I would think now to have the folder with tall the images in the same foldewr aas the .indd and link ALL images to see it I still see those few that are blurry. I do see that the image it self outside of the indd is NOT blurry. Which leads me to believe whoever imported this image into the indd originally did not optimize correctly.
Am I on the right track?

  • How to mass-delete unrated images in Lightroom?

Hi everyone and happy Memorial Day.
I wonder if someone can help me with a Lightroom question.
How can I erase all of my un-flagged images? I would like to quickly flag or otherwise mark all the keepers and maybe keepers and then delete all the rest. I feel like there must be a way because having to hit each image with an "x" to reject it seems like too big a pain for there not to be a shortcut.
I recall someone on a forum told me how to delete all rejected images at once by hitting CTRL-BACKSPACE and that has saved me hours of wasted time over the last couple of years. I hope someone can suggest a similar shortcut for deleting all unrated images, keeping my flagged ones safe.

Why do so many people say "fer-tographer"? Do they take "fertographs"?

"A related note: who worries the next Adobe Lightroom will go to the "Creative Cloud" ."
I have been dealing with Adobe for 40+ years and one thing for sure, you never know.  I am a beta tester for them. They don't tell us much either.  I am going to "guess", likely.  Maybe 60/40 to go cloud.  Make sure you keep your copy up-to-date!
Photoshop and Lightroom plus the rest of CS are mature products.  Meaning the market is saturated.  The only new revenue is the few new photographers that enter the field.  This leaves Adobe to just do upgrades to make a profit.  Is the upgrade worth it?  Every 18 months or 2 years?   To some, yes but to others no.  Makes future predictions of revenue difficult.  The CC format guarantees a constant revenue stream, forever.  Adobe's profits are very high right now and their stock is up.  So your guess is a s good as mine.
You are also likely to see other mature software go the subscription route.  Microsoft Office
There is also the misguided theory that bootleging would be better controlled but that hasn't happened.
