HELP botton doesnt work

I have the first generation ipod nano and it wont respond when I touch the bottons. I can control it (switch songs, pause etc) when its plugged into my ihome and I use the remote. But otherwise it wont work! I tried restoring it and it did nothing. Please help! Do I need to buy a new one?
any suggestions would be appreciated!

While written for the iPhone, the troubleshooting below can help resolve issues with your iPad's camera, as well.
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

How could i reset an ipod if locked and the top botton doesnt work?

i did what i wastold, to create a jar file... i used BlueJ but when i double clicked my jar file there was an error...heres what the file was= it is an applet

Do you see a red dot on the side of the iPhone?
The iPhone will not ring if the Ring/Silent switch shows a red dot.
If the issue is not because of the Ring/Silent switch, try resetting the iPhone by holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple logo as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743

At this point I would recommeng resetting the device if if will not turn on.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I have just changed my password on my work computer on gmail but my phonehas locked out of my emails now and will not accept my new password. it keeps telling me my username or password is incorrect. I have tried deleting entire email account and setting it up again but still doesnt work!
Im out of options and step by step on apple is rubbish!!

Ive also looked into other comments people have made about this and they are saying if you go into your account and go to incoming mail server you can change the password there but I cant find that anywhere. it only says outgoing mail server.

My iPhone is frozen. It was working find about a hour ago and then for no reason the screen went to the apple logo. I have tried to reset it and that doesnt work. ITunes doesnt work with my iPod!!! Help please!

ok...i have tried to plug my iPod into my computer lately, and iTunes doesnt recongnize that my iPod is plugged in!!! i have pretty much de-bugged the problem...its not any of my USB ports b/c other hardware (digital camera etc...) work in them...and its not the computer...but it could possibly be iTunes. if i delete and re-install my iTunes software do i loose all my songs? and w/out loosing all my songs etc is there anything i can do to fix this?
i have also tried resetting my iPod multiple times, but that doesnt work so...the only other thing i can think that could have happened is: i got an iHome a few months ago, and ever since that i have had the problem...so that could have messed something up...can u help?

Does the text on your iPod show up grey in iTunes? Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". . If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. One thing to be aware of with manually updating is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod
