HELP! broken glass iPhone 5s
it was broken glass at my phone 5s gold 16gb. At official service at russia said it needs to change the phone. It will cost 16500 rur or 500$, it's so expensive. They said there is no details to fix iPhone 5S and change glass like for 5 model. Really??
I'm so sad
its too expensive .apple store doesnt fix the display coz they dont have stocks

Since Apple doesn't repair iPhones (they replace them) you will have to take it back to whoever "fixed" it. Since it's been opened by an unauthorized 3rd party, it is no longer eligible for replacement by Apple.

I want to know what exactly Apple will fix on say my IPhone 6 plus. Like a dropped device with broken hardware or components or port issue, electrical broken glass etc.. I only have AppleCare on 1 device because I cant get straight answers about repair cost or if it will repair broken glass ,components etc. The person at Apple just said it will fix ports and did not answer the other question about a real broken device or broken glass.
Actually that's not entirely accurate Csound1... If you purchased AppleCare+ it not only extends your warranty an extra year but it also now covers up to two accidental damages (water damage included). Now every scenario is different when you're talking phone damages so it's best to set up a reservation with the Genius Bar if something happens and they'll assess the damage. Either way, as long as you're covered with AppleCare you'll receive a deductible price on parts. Certain instances you may not have to pay anything which are usually things like faulty software, faulty buttons, etc.

I was wondering the same thing. I have an iPhone4 with the AppleCare plan. Although I have had my phone and AppleCare plan for a year, I didn't bother registering the plan until tonight when my glass broke (from a fall of about two and a half feet).
My paperwork for the AppleCare plan says that it simply extends the warranty. That tells me no coverage except for manufacturers' defects. However, when I went to register my plan at the Apple support website, I was redirected to this page for details of the plan I had just registered. http://www.apple.com/support/products/iphone.html
Quoting from that page: "Every iPhone comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary support. This would seem to imply that for a $49 fee, I can get my glass replaced. Anybody know if that's the case?
The plan I purchased is called "AppleCare" in all my paperwork. However, this web page indicates "Applecare+". Anybody know if there is a distinction between Applecare and Applecare+?
My guess is that sometime in the last year, they added that "two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $49 service fee" sometime in the last year. And when they added that coverage, they changed the name from AppleCare to AppleCare+. But that's just a guess on my part. Anybody know for sure? -

Many thanks for your help.You should talk to your Apple Store. The newest iMacs are very difficult, if not impossible, for the average person to repair. The glass on previous iMacs could be replaced DIY but the new slimmer version is supposed to be specially glued together.

I suppose that you can demand all you want. It would have to be proven that the iOS update broke this particular function but it could also be said that it was just a matter of time that the broken thing manifested itself. Since the phone is out of warranty, it could also be said that it is your risk to update software. I'm not trying to be argumentative here, but we are not Apple. We are users like you and just try and provide support to other users. What you decide to do from here is your decision. I've given you all I know to do.

Try putting your iPhone into recovery mode and then use iTunes to restore it. After that then test it out. If during the restore you get and error code, check it against the second article for further assistance.

You might want to try performing a hard reset of your device; this will restart it and generally clear out any errors, it will not erase any data on your device.

The state of the warranty no longer matters since accidental damage itself voids the warranty. Apple calls replacement due to damage an out-of-warranty replacement so there is no misunderstanding about that. And they take it just a little further by saying if you try and repair it yourself, then they won't have anything to do with the iPhone ever again. They are pretty emphatic about what they will and will not do in the way of replacing.
You can, of course, take the iPhone to an Apple Authorized Repair Service and see if they will replace the screen and back and how much that would cost. That way Apple will still deal with you if necessary.
