My brother sort of broke my headphones. and is there a warranty or is there an exchange program where you ship your broken headpones and you can get new ones for a small price.I a don't know what to do. I love my headphones that came with my iPod. Please Help thanks for any replies

go on ebay heaps of people sell them for like 10 cents and shipping is only like 2$ that's $2.10 cheap or yuo can just use other ear phones but ipod ones are cooler but you can also just buy one from you're friend?.

BROKEN HEADPHONE JACK SIMPLE FIX FOR TOSHIBA THRIVE TABLET:
I love my Toshiba Thrive tablet. I take it with me everywhere I go, nearly every day. I also enjoyed connecting the headphone output jack on the side to an external set of speakers. I would enjoy stereo internet, video watching and so on. I recently broke (cracked) the headphone jack on accident. For months, I heard only through the small, factory installed speakers which, is not quite what I'd call 'ideal stereo.' Has anyone else done this? Despite trying to find repair shops locally, no one will touch a tablet it seems for repair or replacement parts. It's not your usual headphone jack. But - I can tell you how to get your sound back!
THE QUICK FIX
While browsing the internet, I found a device that by-passes the headphone jack and instead uses the internal workings of the Thrive tablet's main connection port. This port is located at the base of the unit. It will be covered by a protective, plastic tab that is removeable. Simply pry a little. This long narrow port was designed to allow you to set the entire Thrive tablet into a docking station designed for it. In this docking station are various connection pins that allow the audio to be sent out of the tablet and into the docking station. At the rear of the docking station you'll find a host of connection types: 1) audio out jack/headphone 2) USB 3) HDMI 4) 110v power supply. Simply plug your speakers or headphone cable into the new docking station and you're done! Your audio will work again. I purchased my docking station for $6.00 on Ebay. Oddly, the unit doesn't charge very well if at all while in the docking station but I've read you can simply remove the cover from your Thrive, remove the battery physically for a few minutes, return it to it's rightful place then close the cover and this fixes the problem. It's a strange little glitche. I have yet to try this yet. I did find that if I plug the cord directly into the Thrive right side as designed, it will recharge the battery as usual. I ordered a few of these docking stations which allow me to simply set the pad down depending on where I am and it will continue to charge. The docks do not come with power outlet so you'll need to consider buying additional but it works wonderfully. There are now even wireless docking stations too!

HELP ..... can anyone help me please, my headphone jack is damaged. the metal around the headphone jack broke off and into the tablet. if i wigggle the headphones into the broken jack i can hear sound but if i remove the headphons i can hear nothing!!! I believe its stuck in headphone mode. the headphones wont hold inside the jack so im stuck with a tablet and no sound

My laptop has a broken headphone jack (piece of plastic fell out of it) and thinks there is something plugged into the jack and won't default to the internal speakers. I've rolled back, reloaded drivers, run audio sound fix it thing, etc. Headphones will work if you hold plug and jiggle to the side. Is there anyway to just disable the jack so I can hear sound through the internal speakers?

The only fixes I have found for this are for Linux.
One can risk a registry fix, though I've not found a sure way to do it. The fix depends on knowing your sound card (I do not), and knowing the exact entry fix (I might, but I won't risk your system).
My sage advice is to get it fixed and be done with it.

Ear buds not working. Not due to broken headphones, so it must be the connector in the iPod that is not working.

On my iPod Classic, the right ear bud does not work and the left one spots off and on. The music works fine on a dock, and I know it is not due to broken headphones (a problem I've encountered many times), because they work fine on other iPods, other headphones have the same problem on this iPod, so it must be the connector in the iPod that is not working. Yes, if you got very steady hands, and you must have the correct tools to open the Ipod. (which is the most difficult part).
For the parts, you can buy off ebay, the audio jack and cable, less than $20 I think.
Those plastic opening tools that they are selling only works for cases that has been opened before, they dont worked for sealed virgin iPod cases.
The screws are quite tiny, so be careful, it might jump out off the window or into the some hole, so better lay white sheets of paper on the floor.

Broken headphones?

As of late, the headphones that came with my ipod crapped out. The bass is distorted etc.. My friend told me that he was in NYC and went to the apple store with his broken headphones and they replaced them for free. Was this because of a special promotion or is this standard practice at all apple stores?

All I can tell you is that the headphones are covered under the normal 1-year iPod warranty. Are you sure it's not the headphone port on the iPod itself that sounds distorted?

Wow. My year and a half old, always babied, iPod has a broken headphone jack. Probably not an uncommon issue, but what are my options?
Is this a repair that my local Apple Store can handle or would I have to resort to some third party repair guru?

You can use the Apple Remote/FM Radio that connects to the dock connection and listen to it that way.
You can have Apple repair it for a fixed rate, or you can go to http://www.ifixit.com http://www.ipodmods.com http://www.iresq.com and either have them repair it or order the parts and do it yourself.

Broken headphone piece in iPhone

How would i get a broken headphone jack piece out of the headphone port on the iPhone? I didn't notice my headphones' jack was broken until i tried plugging it back in. I checked my laptop and pocket to see if the tip broke off in one of those. When i didn't see it i looked in my iPhone and saw the piece in there. I'm quite upset about this due to just getting this phone a couple months ago.

So my headphone jack has broken off clean into two pieces.
The trouble is the 3.5mm jack protuberant is now stuck inside my iTouch and due to the amazing self-locking mechanism of earphone/headphone ends, it will not come out, whatever I do.
Tweezers have not helped, neither has a small magnet.
I'm glad I gave up on the magnet for I have now come to know that the hdd is right next to the earphone socket.
Anyway, I need help.
How do I get that broken-piece out of the socket?!
Please. Help.

It is done! It's out! I have achieved what surely seemed impossibe. I mean the things I tried with my iPod Touch, be it tweezers, pliers, glues, toothpicks, ear-buds.
I read about all of these wondorous ideas and plans online, to take out that unholy peice of metal lodged in my iTouch socket.
But anyway, yesterday you guys gave me some good tips. I was about half-way in the decision making process of making appointment with The Store and almost about ready to dive into what Alex suggested up here.
But then this evening, something made me go back to glue.
Glue, the creation of the century. Or well, maybe last century, or the one before that, I'm not sure when glue was dicovered/invented.
Anyway, getting to the point. It's out.
All I did, was make another failed attempt with the squared-off end of a tooth-pick dipped is some superglue. Like always, it stuck to the little golden 1mm protuberant like a charm. One pull, and it came off, while the thing was still lodged inside.
I went back to the headphones. I saw the broken off jack and realized, there was a bit of a cavity at the point where the jack had broken off. So I gave a tiny squeeze to the superglue pen and filled the cavity with just about a single drop of glue. Next, I rammed the headphone jack back into the socket.
I swear I wasn't expecting anything to happen. Barely 10 seconds into the "Eureka attempt", I don't know what came over me and I just pulled on the cord.
And there it was! IT WAS OUT.
Simple. Effective.
The solution always is right next to the where the problem began.
I should add, the speaker on the iTouch works fine, like everything else.
BUT, when I plugged in my new headphones, there's no output to the RIGHT channel.
I must say, this makes me sad. I don't know if I messed up something with the glue or pliers. Can't say.
I might have done some damage to those tiny silver dot like things on the socket wall which act like the self-locking mechanism for earphones/headphones.
Anyway, if it does end up working again, I'll be sure to let you guys know.

Hi there I had the exact same problem with my ipad 2 and I found that nothing was working so I seen another post about using a drill bit but because there was super glue in my jack it wouldn't go in .. So I used my drill.how I did it are as follows.
1)get your drill and find your smallest drill bit (the one in my pack was 1.5mm)
2)start drilling it directly into the centre of the headphone jack
3)just pull the drill bit and the bit stuck in the headphone jack out.
And voila it really is that simple

G62-b25SA - broken headphone socket, replacement?

I have a G62-b25SA laptop out of warranty.
The headphone socket has broken - part of the socket is missing, meaning that I cannot connect a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
To be clear, this is NOT the problem often reported of something snapping off INSIDE the socket, meaning that the laptop things headphones are connected.
This is the opposite issue, part of the socket itself is missing, meaning it does not hold the headphone jack securely.
Is it possible to replace the socket? How do I go about obtaining a replacement part and fitting it?

Broken Headphone jack

Hello,
Last Monday, I noticed my ipod touch was broken. The headphone jack would no longer work. The songs were playing but no sound come out through the headphones (tried a few headphones I had lying around).
It became obvious to me that it was a hardware issue when I restored the ipod firmware. Besides, when i slightly moved the headphone jack out of its port i could heard sound through one of the channels.
I ordered the replacement box through support's site. However, the ipod returned to normal functioning on the following day, when I upgraded to 1.1.4. However this morning it happened again, and again this afternoon the ipod turned back to normal behaviour.
I will send it back to Apple on Monday however I'm afraid the tech stuff won't be able to reproduce the problem, since it's quite random as I have explained.
What should I do? attach a note inside the ipod box?
Call support even though phone support has expired (past the 90 free days)?

They received the iPod today and after just 1 hour they claim "no trouble found" and reshipped it back to me. Now i'm trying to get hold of tech services to let them know (Again) about the random nature of the issue

Help with headphones on laptop

I got a set of the HN-505 headphones for my laptop. But the problem is that is it has a two-prong connection. but my laptop only has a single output jack and a micro-phone jack. so when i plug in the headphones I can only hear audio on one side. I was sold these headphones w/ the laptop so i assumed they would work. what am i doing wrong?

lol yea i feel like an idiot...i must of been tired or something. the mini-jack was actually plugged into some kind of splitter (2 prongs). so i just unplugged the splitter and plugged directly to the laptop and everything works fine.
