HELP BT HomeHub 5 Wifi Problems

Hi,
Today I got a Bt Home Hub 5 and the Wifi Signal is awful, first I thoguht it was the line but I plugged in my old Home Hub 3, on the same Channel and the wireless speed was perfect, I plugged in the Open Reach 3B into the Home Hub 5 and it increases the Wifi Signal a bit but I'm planning on going back to my Home Hub 3 and telling BT to stuff the 18 month new contract. What can I do ?
Is there a better Wirless modem I can buy without having Homehub 3 and Open Reach awful white box?
What are my options?
I need a answer fast as I'm going away for 2 weeks on Sunday.
I only accepted a new 18 month contract because I could get the new hub for free.
A desperate person.

Its just a dongle you connect in the side of your computer and then just connect to it in your wirless connections list, simple as that really and then you will always have the fastest speeds you can get also with it you get much better wireless signal more bars to be simple then your normal computer can achieve. What channels are you using also? another thing if you have an extension base to your dongle also that works well with the Dual band so you can move it around your room to pick the best spot!.
Please click on pink star to the left and say thanks if I have helped you at all!. Thank you. Home Hub Page- http://bthomehub.home/

  • HELP!!!!! WiFi problems

(I'm pretty sure I won't get any answers as usual but where else can I ask for help -.-) I'm having major Wifi problems and my router's warrenty expired in 2004 O_O But my computer has a good reception from the router like windows says Excellent Quality to Very Good Quality... But, with my iPhone, it barely detects our home network and contantly disconnects, I've tried getting as close as to having my iPhone touch both attennas of my router and my iPhone sometimes doesn't even detect our home network as it's touching the network router itself! lol can someone help me please... our computers work fine with this router it's my iPhone that keeps easily detecting other networks other than our own which is the closest and weird because the other ones aren't in our house...

    Dear Saberunna,
I am experiencing the same problem and i believe alot of people are. I am dying to fix the problem but at this moment i don't know how.
If anyone out there knows how to solve the problem please let us know!!!!

  • Really weird WiFi problem with original iPad, please help!!!

Hey everyone so I recently inherited an original iPad from my uncle who stopped using it because of WiFi issues. Unfortunately he didn't do much to try to figure out the problem and there's no warranty on it but I'd really like to fix it!
The problem is that it doesn't display nearly any available networks under the WiFi settings, but it DOES seem to show and connect to unsecured networks (and works really well...I'm in a hotel typing on it right now). But at home, in the hotel room, at my uncles place, etc...no networks show up. Also I can't connect to them if I enter manually.
So far I've tried a hard reset, fully restoring, resetting network settings, and resetting all settings...I would take it to Apple but there's no warranty
Any ideas of how I can fix this potentially?
    Thanks!

My iPhone 4 after upgrade to iOS 6 the wife signal become very weak, please some one can help me to overcome this problem

I had this too when I updated to iOS 6 today.  Solved it by doing a restore to factory conditions followed by a restore to my last backup.  Now its idling around 45% CPU and is back to its snappy performance.

Have never heard of that problem before so can only give you an idea of some things to check.
Check in the Homehub management that it is not set to block access to the mobile devices. If you did a factory reset of the hub then it should have cleared any settings but it might be worth checking.
Have you checked that they are connecting to your Homehub and not to BTWifi which would require further log on to get internet access.
What exactly is happening with the devices when you try to connect to the internet. Is it all things to do with the internet or can you connect by 3g?
Have you tried to connect using another router such as at a friends house?

  • Strange wifi problem on a brand-new MacBook Pro

Hey there, I'm new here. Desperation has got the better of me, and I hope I can get some advice.
So, last sunday I bought a brand new 13" MacBookPro with 2.8g i7 processor and 10.7.2 OS (I can't update to 10.7.4 because System Update tells me the download has been tampered with or corrupted after I waited 2 hours for it to finish, but I'm trying a direct download from the website). Here's the exact product: http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MacBook-MD314LL-13-3-Inch-VERSION/dp/B005CWIZ4O/ref= sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1340301247&sr=8-5&keywords=macbook+pro+13
Everything is all perfect except for a strange wifi problem. Note that the wifi does not turn-on or off, it doesn't disconnect after 'sleep', it doesn't get less speed, it doesn't constantly leave a preferred connection (once I chose my home wifi it always connects to it no problem). The wifi bar is always full. What is wrong is that the internet is kinda 'glitchy'. The best metaphor I can think of is that it's like a car that has to be pushed down the road before the engine can start. Please, bear with me because this is kinda hard to explain and I'm not good at tech lingos.
One of the symptoms is browsing can get really slow and inconsistent, almost as if the wifi gets turned off in the middle of browsing. For example: if I look something up on Google and then open 5 new tabs, probably only 2 or 3 of those tabs will eventually load while the other two will not get past the long 'http:.......google.....etc etc' address and will eventually show one of those 'error loading page because there's no Internet connection' notice. This happens a lot. Sometimes I have to refresh/retry loading a page a couple of times before it finally loads, then usually everything will get back to normal and I will be able to open multiple tabs with no problem, but in a couple of minutes I would try to open another site and the problem will start again.
So I tried to see how it does with downloading using iGetter. Fortunately I also have a Macbook (white-plastic casing one) and my brother has an old 2006 MacbookPro so I can compare. With those two older Apples iGetter starts receiving data in less than 8 seconds after I click Start, while my brand-new Macbook Pro can take up to 15-20 seconds, sometimes it doesn't even start at all and I have to re-click the start button. But once the download actually starts (on my new MacBook Pro), it downloads like normal, it doesn't stop and the speed is also as good as I can get. Strange huh? Hence, like a car that has to be pushed before the engine starts.
I also tried 'speed testing' from a website with all 3 laptops. On my old MacBook and my brother's MacBook pro, once I click 'begin test' it takes only a couple of seconds of 'ping' before the download/upload speed measurements start, but with my new MacBook Pro (just like with iGetter) it takes up to almost a minute before the measurements start, sometimes it won't start at all and I have to re-start the test.
Well, thanks for reading. And hope you can help me shed some light into this. Because it is really preventing me from really enjoying my new MacBook Pro. And if this is most likely a hardware problem, I'd better get back to the store and try to get it replace or something while it's only been 5 days. *cheers*

Hey guys.. Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, I bought the MacBook in Indonesia where there are no such thing as an AppleCare. The only option is to leave the Apple product to one of the 'Authorized Apple care centre' and have whoever do whatever to it without guarantee of success. As for returning it and getting a brand new one, I also don't know if there is such a deal here, but that's actually a good idea, will try to go to the store tomorrow. Although, I'm worried that the problem might be with OSX Lion or something and getting a new one won't help.
mark75090, I've tried resetting the router when I first noticed te problem, didn't work though. I've checked my new MacBook's wi-fi (option+click wifi bar) and it says 'PHY Mode: 802.11g', so does my MacBook and the old MacBook Pro. I don't know what those mean though, and I don't know whether or not my router is an N., can you tell me more please.. I have tried with the other two turned off, and only the new MacBook using the wi-fi but the problem persists. I have also tried connecting directly to the router, but as I described, the problem is too subtle for me to notice the difference.
Also, if I create a brand new Wi-Fi connection in network preferences and connect to my router through the new Wi-Fi profile, the problem seems to be gone for an hour or so, then it always comes back though. I have also just finally installed 10.7.4, but it doesn't help either.

  • Macbook pro 15 inch wifi problem (late 2011)

    Hello,
Here I write a little desperate with this problem that I have on the MacBook Pro (late 2011) with WIFI .
For several months ago, when I power on the MBP is all apparently normal , spend a few minutes and I lose the WIFI , the icon still comes out as "connected " but no WIRELESS signal , I turned off the WIFI, but, when I try to change back to turn ON, the icon of WIFI still OFF ( the inverted triangle ) . Restarting the MBP and still the problem no signal and appears as disabled , delete PRAM several times until finally everything works again , spend some time and again the same thing sometimes is fine for several hours, go out to eat and return and again the same thing, the worst was when I saw the message "Hardware not found" and "X " where the icon goes WIFI . I rebooted several times and not managed , this was the "hardware not found" message. Some time ago I went something like , when Lion had and read that resetting the PRAM and managed , never came out , but now even that it manages , and it is becoming more common , I thought it was the OS ( MacOSX Mavericks ) so I reinstalled (I'm not used Time Machine, I install all again ), this work the lasted several days without fail, until she passed again, I'm out of WiFi, when I see no WIFI signal in the list , restart me WIFI goes off and I can not change , restart it goes back to " hardware not found" and so on.
Now desperate for this, I opened the MBP , disconnected the cables from the Airport card and reconnected with care and making sure you are all well , turned on the MBP again and works!!, I lasted two weeks , then I thought it was that. But again the whole problem again.
Already investigating more online and I found some details from other users
1 / Both WIFI and Bluetooth are on the same card ( the q disconnected and reconnected )
2 / If the card was wrong , losing the WIFI Bluetooth should lose , but I tried Bluetooth and has no problems
3 / Reported that resetting PRAM or SMC but still, in my case, does not work.
Now all I have left to rule is the WIFI antenna that is located ( if I remember correctly ) for the bottom of the screen, and according to several users this tends to fail from constant use to close or open the MBP (or either to cover or uncover ) , and sometimes it just heats and heats close to this area .
Has anyone had a similar problem? My MBP turns 2 only on March 7, 2014 , I can not believe all that cost me and now is about to fail , I have a Sony VAIO Core 2 Duo for about 5 years (or more) ago and is still running and has been dropped many times and nothing has ever happened : (
Additional data on my MBP ,
Several months ago ( long before the problem with the WIFI) I changed the hard drive for an SSD ( 250GB Corsair Neutron X ) .
There is a problem that often makes me too, is that when you close the MBP ( to open ) , and open it back again ( out of sleep) the following happens :
1 / It instantly freezes when waking from sleep and I have a long wait to enter the password.
2 / When you leave idle normal let me put the password, but just when giving ENTER freezes
3 / Out of sleep, let me put the key, ENTER and when I load the desktop freezes
    Another problem :
This only happened to me a few times , as I mentioned , my MBP is formatted ( have Mavericks ) before formatted (clean install without time machine) , I closed the MBP ( I sent to sleep) and the open the screen was black , but as with bright, and not leave the state, turned off force ( pressing the button) , start the MBP again (power on) charged normal gray screen with apple but with a fairly low brightness, spent a few seconds and turned the brightness to normal and started normally .
I hope some can help me with these problems.
PD : I'm from Peru , if anyone knows a trusted service that please let me know .
    Thank you very much .

Your wifi problem sounds very much like the problem I had. The wifi would drop out, the icon showed it was still connected. If I turned it off, I couldn't turn it back on. Another user here pointed me to the problem, which was the wifi cable (the flat cable goint from the card to the motherboard). I found it on ebay for $13 and it's been running fine since I replaced it. This is the repair guide for your machine. The part number will be on there if you click the link.

  • WiFi problem with iOS 7.0.3 and iPhone 5

My iPhone 5 has been working flawlessly with iOS6. After updating it to iOS 7 I have an irritating problem with the WiFi connection at work. Everything is OK for some time, then the WiFi connection just stops working. There is a WiFi icon max signal strength icon but there's just no connection. There are usually no error messages. Safari would just spin the connectivity icon forever with nothing showing on the screen. Facebook won't load anything, etc. Unfortunately the phone won't fallback to cellular. I have to either reset it, or restart it. Sometimes just diabling-enabling WiFi works, sometimes not.
I've read a lot about this problem, it seems to be very common on 4S, however it seems I am alone to have it on 5. I've tried all the suggested solution - reset my network settings, I have even reinstalled my iPhone as a new one and not from my iOS6 backup. It doesn't help.
Note that the problem is not in our WiFi network since my iPad 3 works perfectly and has connectivity at the same time.
Having in mind this is very widespread issue on iPhone 4S which is still not fixed even in version 7.0.3, I am kind of exhausted. I've been a loyal Apple fan but if this doesn't get fix in the next iOS 7 update, I'll probably look other brands finally. It's really such a shame!

You are not alone i am having same issue on my i5 ios7.0.3  but apple is still not responding on the issue several sites and even apple discussion forum is filled with this issue no major fix or trick works as what apple says in its help. waiting for apple to respond on this isuue

  • WiFi problem with iOS 6 and network login screen

Here is a detail problem description:
Equipment: iPad 3 with iOS 6
Environment: corporate network with a login screen that requires login every 24 hours.
What happens: The very first time I tried to login into the network everything worked fine. The login screen showed up (as always did with iOS 5) as expected. But, the login screen does NOT come after 24 hours (when re-login is required), unless I will reboot the iPad (using the 2 buttons), or I will reset the network settings (which again does a reboot). Switching on-off the WiFi, or any other remedy does NOT work.
The problem is not related to the network or the particular iPad or iPhone. All iPads and iPhones with iOS 5.2 or earlier work just fine. Only the ones with iOS 6 have this issue.
I would appreciate any creative idea to resolve the issue. Thank you.

  • Ipad3 wifi problems

    Dear Apple Team:
In my ipad3, I have problems connecting then disconnecting within  2 minutes after connection. The device is 3 yards away from me and I experience the same problem with Skype , Face time google talk and Safari. . My Network  router is Zyxel  P-660HN-F1Z  with latest available Firmware Version: 3.70(BJI.8)F0 .
The 2nd generation ipod I have with me does not have any problems. It is the ipad3.
am a senior Network Engineer , so I have tried updating the firmware of the router and it is working the same regardless of what I do. I have tested the wireless access point with laptop, Ipod and wifi phone and no problems. Only it is a problem with Ipad3.
What is your return/replacement policy, the item was purchased on March 17 2012. I have not used it (only twice for Skype testing) until yesterday when I landed in EU for an academic project in EU, that will last a month.
What is my options for return? I am not happy at all.
    Best, Murad.

  • Still on 10.6.5 but having wifi problems with Canon MP495

At least I think it is a wifi problem? Love this printer - worked brilliantly since I have had it and not had any issues with it at all once installed properly. However, over the past 3/4 weeks I keep getting communication problems and the wifi button/light flashes during printing and more often than not the printing stops and spits out the paper with only a few lines printed. I then have to pause the printer and resend several times - and I'd be lucky to get a complete print without error 1 out of 5 times. I have not changed position of the printer. The kids laptops with windows 7 did not appear to have this problem until first thing this morning when my daughter needed to print something for school on 'special paper' and guess what - it stopped and spat it out half way through! Any clues as to what to do wold be very much appreciated.

    Stressed Mum wrote:
I have moved the printer as the signal was low - 38% and link 36%. It has increased slightly up to 48% but that is on the dining room table now Why would the signal change? It used to communicate without any problems at all - this is very disappointing.
There can be a number of reasons why the change has occurred but the most common is other wireless devices causing interference, and not just from your house. If a neighbour is using a wireless router on the same channel as yours then this can cause interference. A quick fix can sometimes come from turning off the wireless router for a minute and then back on. Many routers will check what wireless channels are being used and select one that is not being used by another router within range. If the router cannot do this automatically then a manual setting of a channel can help.
There are some utilities that can scan your premises for all wireless signals. This can assist with locating an unused channel. The following is an app that I have used for helping friends with wireless issues.
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/27740/airradar
Can I confirm that it is actually linking with the pc/mac that sends the print and not the router?
The printer should be linking to the wireless router and the computers should also link to the same router. The printer does not support a direct connection to it from a wireless computer.
I really do not want to have to move the printer every time I/the kids need to use it. I think I'll update to 10.6.6 just to see if that makes a difference and revert soon.
I don't believe the 10.6.6 will resolve this. And you also said that the Win7 computer also had problems so it would suggest there is more of a problem with the connection from the router to the printer.
