HELP!! Can anyone tell me what causes this problem?

I will paste a link below to a screen grab I took of my desktop. I've never seen this before. Could you please tell me what this could be? The best way I could describe it is to describe it as warping effect on various windows.
This has occurred when using photoshop, after effect, illustrator, the OS. Basically I've seen it occur on just about every type of browse window viewable on the Mac.
I reformatted the mac and it still occurs.
I am using a MacPro 2 x 3 GHz Quad Core with 16 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500. I have an internal 750 GB HD for the OS and 4x750 GB internal RAID for storage. (I do a lot of video work.)
Here's the link:

Thanks,
Daniel
PS> Even if you have no clue what this is, can you please let me know if you have seen it before or not?? I am completely lost. Help me Obi Wan Kenobi... you're my only hope.

Afraid I haven't seen that before. The only thing I could suggest is to boot from the 1st Install disk and run the hardware test. I would wonder about the video card. You might also post in the MacPro forum. I just got MY MacPro today, and the MacPro Forum is where I would go:

The only other thing I can think of is to launch Console from the Utilities folder and see if any errors are being reported.

  • Kernel panic. Can anyone tell me what caused it?

My Macbook Pro has been having a lot of kernel panics recently, especially when I try to shut it down: It restarts before it can go off.
Can anyone pinpoint the hardware or software responsible? Here is the error report from the last one:

    Thank you for your answer.
I  moved my notepads to a USB and when I opened the notepad I got this strange
characters. Since you said it is a zip file I downloaded and unzip software but it
can't open it . This is a note pad. I don't know what I did wrong when
I passed it to the USB that when I transfered it to the pc it came out like that.
Anything I can do to get my text back?

For which reason do you want to known the SP processor model ?

  • Can anyone tell me what is this all about???

    int timeout = 500; // half a second
    SocketAddress socketAddress =
    new InetSocketAddress(host, port);
    Socket socket = new Socket();
    socket.connect(socketAddress, timeout);

It's a piece of code from a "client" program that tries to
open a socket connection to a given "host" on a given "port".
A timeout prevents the client from being stuck during the connection.

  • When I open the website as oldc.in on firefox then sometimes there images are out of the boxes? Can anyone tell me what can I do for it?

When I open the website as http://oldc.in then there posting are going out of boxes so please can anyone tell me about fixing this problem? This problem is going only with mozilla firefox.

If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.

    Hello,
    Leopard requirements/10.5.x...
        *  Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
    minimum system requirements
        * 512MB of memory (I say 1.5GB for PPC at least, 2-3GB minimum for IntelMacs)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * 9GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
    Classic/OS9 Apps no longer supported.
Trouble is Apple no longer sells it, check eBay & such for the Retail version, not the Gray Discs...
    http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=mac+os+x+leopard+retail+10.5
There are workarounds if the 867MHz CPU is the only hangup...
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/leopardassist/
    http://lowendmac.com/osx/leopard/unsupported.html
So we know more about it...
At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac, report the version of OSX from that window, then click on More Info, then click on Hardware> and report this upto but not including the Serial#...
    Hardware Overview:
    Model Name: eMac
    Model Identifier: PowerMac6,4
    Processor Name: PowerPC G4 (1.2)
    Processor Speed: 1.42 GHz
    Number Of CPUs: 1
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 167 MHz

    Hello KCC4ME,
You may try booting your Mac in Safe Boot, as it can resolve many issues that may prevent a successful login.
OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564
If a Safe Boot allows you to successfully log in, you may have issues with one or more login itmes (while the following article is labelled as a Mavericks article, it is viable for earlier versions of the Mac OS, as well).
OS X Mavericks: If you think you have incompatible login items

We got a new Apple TV for Christmas and it works wonderful. However, my question is this. We are on a satelitte internet system and our bandwidth is limited. Can anyone tell me what effect it will have on using up my 10 megs of bandwidth? If I run over the 10 mgs, the service either slows way down until it is reset on the first of the next month or I have to purchase additional bandwidth and it can get expensive.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

If you only have a 10MB limit on the Internet connection you might as well not have Internet access and certainly should not attempt to stream anything.
If the limit is 10GB, then you will need to be careful with streaming as most video is 1-3GB for a one hour show.

  • I have a Mac Pro 4,1 quad core intel Xeon running mac OSX 10.6.8 and I have just moved studios and now need to use the Internet wirelessly but there's no airport facilities on this model can anyone tell me what model of airport card I would need for this

Instead of getting a wireless card for the Mac Pro, you might want to consider getting an 802.11ac wireless bridge device that would enable you to connect more than one device to it by Ethernet cable and to eventually take advantage of the faster 802.11ac wireless standard.

  • HT1338 My software update tells me I'm not connected to the internet... if that's true how am I able to ask this question?... Can anyone tell me what's going on?

I can't update my software because software update tells me I'm not connected to the internet... if that's true how am I able to ask this question?... Can anyone tell me what's going on and what I need to do to correct this?

If you have a slow connection speed, update will not download.
Are you using broadband and are you close to the modem?

  • Can anyone tell me what this Time Machine error means? The network backup disk does not support the required AFP features?

Can anyone tell me what this Time Machine error means? The network backup disk does not support the required AFP features?

    AFP - Apple Filing Protocol
The Network Attached Storage (NAS) that you are pointing Time Machine at does not have the features needed by Time Machine in order to do its Thing.  Time Machine needs some specific features that are not typically available on generic networked storage devices.
There are manufactures that support the Mac OS X HFS+ file system formats and implement all the needed AFP protocol packets necessary so that they can be used with Time Machine, but apparently yours does not.
If you are not using a networked mounted volume for Time Machine, then more information will be needed about your Time Machine setup.
