Help!! Can I do this with the Airport?!
Hi,
I have my Airport express set up with my wireless router so I can use it with iTunes wireless speakers. Is it possible to plug a machine into the ethernet port on the airport express to allow it join my home network?
Or can the ethernet port on the airport express only be used as a router?

Yes, but only if the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) is set up as a Remote Base Station in a Wireless Distribution System (WDS). For that to work the wireless router that you connect the AX to must be either another AirPort base station or a DD-WRT compliant one.

I cannot answer regarding compatibility, but there is no download available for PSE6 if you would need one for this. You might be able to copy the installation files from a disk to some other removable media that the machine accepts. Upgrading to PSE7 would not be possible mainly because Adobe does not sell older versions of their software.

I need to display a timecode of selected sections in edited FCPX timeline. I need the timecode display to start at 00:00:00 and time to the end of the selection. Can I do this using the timecode generator in FCPX ?

Normally the best way to create an add is to to do it and to export it as PDF/X-4.
From Photoshop you can save as PDF, choose either the standard as the printer asks for or save as PDF/X-4.
Never use in any case EPS.
If the add contains vectors and/or fonts PDF is the best file type.
If no text or vectors are used you could use JPG with high compression quality, tiff or (not in your case) psd.
Take care that
Your file is not flattened to background, so all layers are alive, otherwise fonts will be rasterized.
You file should have a resolution in minimum between 240 and 300 ppi (not dpi)
With the text: is it pure black or is it 4c-black? K-Black is easier to accomplish in InDesign.
Don't make small elements in 4c. -

Airport Extreme Base Station has a USB port which I read you can plug a printer into. My question is: Can I plug a USB hub into this port and access all devices plugged into the hub wirelessly?
Specifically, I have a printer, scanner, external hard drive and want to access them wirelessly from a MacBook.

The USB port on the square 802.11b/g/n AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) supports ONLY printers and hard drives. Therefore you could connect a USB hub and connect your USB hard drive and printer.
The USB port on the earlier round 802.11b/g AEBS supports ONLY a single compatible printer. -
Can I do this with the Push Registry?
I need to write a midlet that will listen for an incoming message from the comm port on a Motorola i355 iden phone. I don`t care if the midlet is open or closed when the message comes in. Whichever would be fastest would be best. I'm using the phone to process a message and send another message back out through the comm port to a connected machine. I also don't have control over the message that is coming from the machine that the phone will be connected to. This will only be my 2nd J2ME application so I'm very new at this.
I have seen plenty of examples of using the push registry to do this for a socket and datagram (I don`t even know what a datagram is), but nothing for use with a comm connection. If anyone can steer me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Hi

I just got my AirPort Extreme Base, but I can't use my HP Deskjet F4580 wireless printer with it.
The printer is not connected to the AirPort Extreme's USB port. It is placed in another room, and I'd like to use it (the printer) wirelessly (not connected to the USB port os the AirPort Extreme), as I used to. There is no place for the printer close the AirPort Extreme. It worked just fine with my previous wireless router (Linksys WRT54G). I'm very disappointed with the AirPort Extreme Base Station because of that!...
Can you help me? Please?!

I was told I could set a local network with the airport express, apple Tv, and my iPad to stream videos or pictures to a TV for a presentation.
No internet connection is available at the location.
Is that possible? Or do I need to access itunes homeshare with an internet connection to make this work?
I've set it up at home where I have an internet connection and it works fine but I want to move the setup to my church for a class. The data I'm using is stored on my ipad.
I know I can do this wired with the HDMI adapter but would like to do it wireless.
Thanks for any help!Ok so we now have a solution to the problem. A friend of mine came round to work this out with me last night and we were able to get it working, but it is not as easy as I had hoped. Fisrtly we plugged the airport express into my router using the ethernet cable (for this I am using an Airport Express Base Station") and in airport utilities selected the airport express. In edit, we then gave the airport express a new range of IP address which did not conflict with any of the other applications that I have already assigned. We also named the Airport Express with a distinguishable name. We then waited for the changes to be registered then unplugged the Airport Express from the router. I then plugged my AppleTV via HDMI into a tv to test it and selected the new wifi network with the new Airport Express distinguishable name. I was able to watch a video that I have on my ipad directly on my tv without being connected to the internet, and was able to play Airplay presentations.
No the easiest solution, and certainly not something that anyone at Apple has talked me through in my lengthy conversations with them at Applecare.

How do you use Airport extreme at hotels etc, when traveling? I can plug my computer into the Airport with my ethernet but how does Airport pickup signal? What equipment & devices do I need to travel with to make this possible?
You may mean the AirPort Express.....not AirPort Extreme.....as the Express is a popular travel router.
The whole idea behind using this device is that the hotel must provide an Ethernet jack in the hotel room. Then you connect the AirPort Express to the Ethernet jack with an Ethernet cable and configure it to provide your own wireless network in the room. You still have to agree to terms, pay the fees, etc.
The problem with this approach is that it is getting very difficult to find hotels in North America that prrovide an Ethernet jack....most have moved to wireless networks and the others are not far behind.
So, if the hotel is already providing a wireless signal, the AirPort Express is of no use in that situation.
If you normally stay at the same hotels, and know that they provide Ethernet ports, an AirPort Express might make sense in terms of convenience. -
Hi, Unfortunately my Laptop has died (which had my iTunes on it). I want to ensure my music on my iPhone 5 and my iPad Air are backed up. Also, I want to sort my music in the way I used to with iTunes. How can I do this with just these two devices, i.e. NO Computer? Can the iCloud help? Why can't I download iTunes (i.e. my library as I saw it on the computer) to these devices? Thanks to anyone who can help me here.
You can change the email address of one's appleID...
I'd recommend changing moms email to yours to get a good backup on the Mac
Then switch mom's back to hers
Then change your account to the same email you used.
