Help, can i set two clock displayed?

is there any way i can set another timezone clock on the right top of the screen? like it displays yvr time and nyc time together? thanks.

Hi,
Yes, I dont think so too. However, you can set your widgets' time to different time zone. By using hot corner to activate widgets, I located the clock near the bar so that I can see both clocks at the same time (fortunately the widgets page is "semi-transparent" )
Cheers.

I learned that the Dock is positioned at the chosen edge of whatever Display is positioned farthest to that side.  E.g. for the Dock to be positioned on the right side of the Cinema Display (instead of the right side of the MacBook), the Cinema Display must be oriented (by dragging) to the right of the MacBook monitor on the "Arrangement" tab of the Displays Preference Panel.

Yes, the new iMac has two Thunderbolt ports. Plus Thunderbolt can be daisy chained thru external Thunderbolt drives and displays that have multiple ports.
    For more info, see >  Apple - Thunderbolt: Next-generation high-speed I/O technology.
Although I'm not sure exactlly what Arrangement selections you will be offered in the Displays Preference, because I have not tested that setup myself...

  • [SOLVED] Can't set X server display resolution

    Hello all,
I'm trying to set X Server display resolution to my monitor native 1366x768. I'm running Arch in a VMWare virtual machine. I have installed xf86-video-vmware drivers.
Here's the contents of my 10-monitor.conf file
    Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "Monitor0"
    DisplaySize 410 230
    EndSection
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "Device0"
Driver "vmware" #Choose the driver used for this monitor
    EndSection
    Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0" #Collapse Monitor and Device section to Screen section
    Device "Device0"
    Monitor "Monitor0"
    DefaultDepth 24 #Choose the depth (16||24)
    SubSection "Display"
    Depth 24
    Modes "1366x768" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" #Choose the resolution
    EndSubSection
    EndSection
And here's the log file where the resolutions get rejected:

Is this a consequence of the vmlegacy drivers? This is up high in the log file, where the legacy drivers eventually get loaded:

Ok. Finally it's working. This is why I love Arch. It forces me to learn.
    The solution:
    Step 1.
I followed the instructions in X.Org Wiki about obtaining modelines. Sadly, the log file didn't produce anything (probably because I was using the vesa vbe driver). But I followed the next option and got the modeline from Windows tool, Powerstrip.
    "1366x768" 85.476 1366 1436 1579 1792 768 771 774 798 -hsync +vsync
    Step 2.
Went to the web and fetched all the technical information about this monitor (a Acer X193HQ, that I use as my third monitor). I wanted hsync and vsync ranges, and display size in mm.
    Step 3.
Edited my configuration file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-monitor.conf) making sure to comment out the last part of the modeline, since I was going to manually add the hsync and vsync ranges.
    Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "Monitor0"
    DisplaySize 410 230
    HorizSync 30-80
    VertRefresh 55-60
    ModelName "X193HQ"
    Option "DPMS"
    VendorName "Acer"
    ModeLine "1366x768" 85.476 1366 1436 1579 1792 768 771 774 798 # -hsync +vsync
    EndSection
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "Device0"
    Driver "vesa"
    EndSection
    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen0"
    Device "Device0"
    Monitor "Monitor0"
    DefaultDepth 16
    SubSection "Display"
    Depth 16
    Modes "1366x768"
    EndSubSection
    EndSection
    Step 4.
Success! X is started in 1366x768 with the vesa drivers with a 60Hz refresh rate.
    Final thoughts
    - With the vmware display drivers (xf86-driver-vmware) I don't get ideal results. For some reason it starts in 1368x768 (yes, 1368!). However xrandr reveals it supports 1366x768, and once I xrandr --size into it, all is fine. Dunno why this happens.
    - It only works in 16 bit depth. 24 or 32 corrupt the screen. I don't know exactly why either. But for the use I plan to give the X server, 16 bit is fine.

  • How can we set two events in a single button ???

    HI
I created a button named bold , when i click it first time the textarea texts will became as bold..
I created another button bold cancel when i click at that button textarea texts will became plain...
But how can i set that controls in a single button (in button bold) ???
Would anybody please tell me ...

I would have one event listener that is aware of a boolean variable that has scope outside of the event listener, isBold for instance?
When you click on the button, have the event listener toggle the boolean variable and then if true, set the text to bold, if false set the text to plain.

  • Can I run two external displays off a MacBook?

    Hi there.
I would like to run two external 20" Acer (VGA) displays off of my MacBook. I already use one 20" in addition to my MacBook screen but would like to have two full sized screens to work off and would not need the 13" from the MacBook.
The MacBook literature says that only a second monitor is supported but I was hoping there is a way to override the MacBook screen in a two monitor setup and port the display to the third monitor.
    Any ideas ??

You can have two independent external displays on the workstation macs such as G4, G5 and Mac Pros but not on apple laptops to the best of my knowledge. If you look on that page it shows the Mac Pro then underneath it is the image of two montiors side by side with the shark image going across it. Lower down is a Macbook Pro with one additional monitor next to it.
This is the text which accompanies the image:
"With an all PCI Express architecture, Mac Pro supports a lineup of state-of-the-art graphics cards to ensure a spectacular visual experience. Every Mac Pro supports two displays — including one 30-inch Apple Cinema HD Display — and can be expanded to drive an array of up to eight displays."
Im assuming the up to eight displays refers to the fact that you can add extra graphics cards to the Mac Pro.

  • Please help - Can't set classpath on RedHat with jdk 1.3.1

I'm trying to run an app and having lots of trouble with setting the classpath. I wouldn't even mind setting it on boot up. The only way I've gotten it to work was to manually type "export CLASSPATH=/usr/[the rest of it]" Can someone help?
    Here's what I've tried:
edited rc.sysinit and added the following lines:
    # Set the classpath
    CLASSPATH=/usr/stoneware/config:/usr/stoneware/bin:/usr/stoneware/bin/gnujsp.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/ProxyServlet.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/jnet.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/jcert.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/jsse.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/stoneware.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/StonewareClient.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/com.mortbay.jetty.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/javax.servlet.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/openxml-1.2.jar
    export CLASSPATH
I've also tried setting from a .sh file using -classpath like this:
    /usr/java/jdk1.3.1_01/bin/java -ms16mb -classpath=/usr/stoneware/config:/usr/stoneware/bin:/usr/stoneware/bin/gnujsp.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/ProxyServlet.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/jnet.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/jcert.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/jsse.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/stoneware.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/StonewareClient.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/com.mortbay.jetty.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/javax.servlet.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/openxml-1.2.jar -DStoneware.client.config=StonewareRelay.cfg com.stoneware.server.StonewareRelay
    And I've tried this:
    export CLASSPATH=/usr/stoneware/config:/usr/stoneware/bin:/usr/stoneware/bin/gnujsp.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/ProxyServlet.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/jnet.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/jcert.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/jsse.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/stoneware.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/StonewareClient.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/com.mortbay.jetty.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/javax.servlet.jar:/usr/stoneware/bin/openxml-1.2.jar
    /usr/java/jdk1.3.1_01/bin/java -ms16mb -DStoneware.client.config=StonewareRelay.cfg com.stoneware.server.StonewareRelay
Please keep in mind the word wraps. The "-" you see is not really by itself, the text got wrapped.
    Thanks,
    James

The way I usually set the CLASSPATH and PATH in Linux (RedHat specifically) is to edit the .bash_profile file in your home directory (/home/username/.bash_profile) and include them there. This will cause your CLASSPATH and PATH to be set everytime you run bash (if you want details on why, their is documentation on it). Your .bash_profile will usually have a PATH already so you can just add to it. Make sure when you add CLASSPATH to also add that to the EXPORT line at the bottom as it is easy to forget. That should work. The way you are saying to do it should work as well, I am not quite sure what you are having problems with but I have used the above method on over 20 machines and it has worked every time so far.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi there,
I hope someone of you gurus is able and wanting to shed some light on my problem:
    I replaced the duron 700 on my k7t266 pro with a xp2000+
(palomino). When I want to change the fsb clock in the bios
    I can't. It stays 100Mhz
I upgraded the bios with ver 1.90, and disabled bios prot.
What is it that I'm doing wrong?
    TIA

should i try a lower version of the bios?
In the bios setup menu i don't have the possibility to load
    high-performance settings ( that option isn't there).
But maybe that is correct in ver 1.90

    I know there's a GET_BLOCK_PROPERTY for records_displayed, but not a SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY. Is there an equivalent I can use? thanks

The number of records displayed cannot be changed. But you can use workarounds:

    2) create a dsplayed item and change its size

  • Can I daisy chain two Thunderbolt displays to the new MacBook Airs (July 2011)?

I have last year's MacBook Air -- probably the best Mac I've ever had and I've had a few. I looked at using multiple displays last year, but the reviews for the major 3rd-party solutions really demonstrate how little is possible.
I see Apple says you can double up on displays for the MacBook Pro (I have a pre-Thunderbolt one unfortunately), what about the new (July 2011) MacBook Airs?
    Anyone tried? Anyone know?
(I have a 30" Dell display, but it is, and always has been, very flakey when it comes to connecting to a Mac laptop).

You can thank Intel for that.
The sandy bridge chips all have integrated graphics, and before they were released -- they took nvidia to court claiming they didn't have a "license" to make GPU chipsets for the sandy bridge line.  Intel won, and consumers lost.
The solution most manufacturers are using for notebooks is graphics switching (nvidia optimus like technology) -- which basically uses a discreet GPU along side the intel integrated GPU, and switches between the two instantaenously based on the workload and \ or battery life -- this is how the macbook pro's with the ATI gpus work.
Since there isn't enough space physically inside a macbook air for a discreet GPU, and since no company in the world is allowed to make a shared GPU for intel's sandy bridge chipsets -- the only solution is to use the integrated graphics that is in the processors -- Intel HD 3000.  Intel basically has the monopoly here...there is no legal solution in the world another company can provide thanks to our wonderful court system
Wanna know the really sad part about the Intel HD 3000 GPU?  The Nvidia 320M (the GPU used in the previous model 2010 macbook air -- chip was released to the market in April of last year) actually out performs it in some benchmarks -- that's right, a 1+ year old shared gpu from nvidia outperforms Intel's 2011 integrated graphics.
    Intel ***** at graphics, period.
The only other solution I can think of is for you to get the "Echo Express" product from Sonnet:
    http://www.sonnettech.com/product/thunderbolt/index.html
It's basically an external bay that will allow you to put a PCIe GPU inside it, and it would then connect via thunderbolt to the macbook air.
You would then use the minidisplayport connectors on the PCIe GPU to connect to the apple displays -- I believe any modern ATI or Nvidia GPU can support up to 3 or 4 external displays.
Unfortunately, sonnet's bay is not released yet, and you'd also have to make sure the PCIe GPU you get supports both thunderbolt AND os x....so yeah, kind of slim pickens right now
    EDIT:
So apparently the macbook pros can daisy chain two thunderbolt displays -- Apple has a picture of it on their site:
    http://storeimages.apple.com/1867/as-images.apple.com/is/image/AppleInc/MC914_AV 7?wid=1200&hei=1200&fmt=jpeg&qlt=95&op_sharpen=0&resMode=bicub&op_usm=0.5,0.5,0, 0&iccEmbed=0&layer=comp
I just bought a new mac air too...I was gonna get a mbpro but they are just too expensive -- the one I configured was at around 3000$
Wanna know what's lame about using the thunderbolt display with the mac air?  So the new mac air has the magsafe connector on one side and the thunderbolt connector on the other -- they're not on the same side like the macbook pro is (see picture) -- so basically the cable is going to have to slack around the back of the macbook air -- who designed that?  Must have been smoking some good meth ;p
