Help - can't edit entries on calendar - phone is worthless to me....

My Droid X finally arrived today.
I synced my new phone to my google calendar today. I cannot edit any event that was synced, but can edit events created on the phone. I have been on the phone with Verizon, who transferred me to Motorola for almost 2 HOURS now!     and still have no answer.
I switched from a BB Storm to this, so far not so good.
If I can't edit my calendar like i could on my BB, this phone is worthless to me.
If anyone can help, please let me know.
Bryan

With all due respect to the OP......
You bought the Droid X for calendar editing and that's it ???   If you can't edit calendar events that synced down, the phone is completely worthless to you ?    That's incredible.  This phone is the most advanced on the market, and is outselling all others.  People in these forums are RAGING to get their hands on one due to the backorder.  The phone has a little trouble with ONE function, and you're ready to ditch it ?    Amazing.    Please don't get me wrong, here.  I'm not trying to insult the OP in any way.   I just find it..........I don't know...........WOW.

  • ICal 4.0.4--can't edit entries after updating to Snow Leopard

After updating from Leopard to Snow Leopard, my iCal 4.0.4 no longer seems to work correctly--I cannot edit calendar entries. Is there a fix for this?

The behavior of iCal under 10.6 is when you double-click the event you get the event window and then you can click edit to modify it's characteritics.  If you are not getting that result then something is wrong.
re-imported the saved versions, reset my prefs, and iCal is working again.
The exports were as a safety measure.  Removing the files I indicated should not have made your calendars disappear unless they were being hosted on a server like Google or Yahoo.  Did your calendars go away after following the above steps?
Are these calendars in the "On My Mac" section of ical on the left or somewhere else?
Create a new user account and see if the same behavior happens there: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8235.html

  • After 5.1 update, unable to edit entries in calendar?

Before updating to 5.1, I was able to open a calendar entry on my iPad calendar and edit time or location.  Now I'm just able to view.  Any ideas?

    Hi,
I also tested your description in my environment. I assigned a user full access permission to a room mailbox then gave this user Author permission to the room’s calendar folder. I created an appointment directly in room calendar and I could modify the appointment
content. When I removed the full access mailbox permission, the created appointment was no longer to be modified. But when I created a new appointment in room calendar, I could modify the new one with Author permission.
We can add author permission to the group, please make sure the group Room Booking is a Security Group instead of a distribution group:
Add-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity "Room1:\Calendar" -User “Room Booking” -AccessRights Author

  • Can't edit entries

Suddenly, I can enter an event into the calendar for a particular day. BUT I can't enter the time/place/etc. Even wen I hit the "edit" button, the box to edit might pop up but disappears when I try to enter something.
If I do the vertical swipe on the keyboard to show all open programs, I can see the edit box, but I click on calendars and it disappears again. This just started happening last night.
    Suggestions?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Make sure your Region setting is set to "United States" when you go to Apple > System Preferences > Language & Text > Formats > Region.
First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
    If the issue persists:
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
    Hope that helps.

  • ICal 'on my mac' to iPhone - How can I see on my phone, the entries in calendars under 'On My Mac'?

iCal 'on my mac' to iPhone - How can I see on my phone, the entries in calendars under 'On My Mac'?
I have several entries (too many) on calendars created prior to iCloud. They are listed as calendars 'On My Mac'. How can I get this information to my phone? I understand that iCloud makes On My Mac calendars obsolete?
I use my phone calendar to see my duties for the day, and only add entries if I'm out and on the fly. These I don't mind typing into the iCloud calendars. But my regular process when I'm sitting in front of the computer is to add them via iCal using the On My Mac calendars created years ago, over time. I need to see this information while on the go. How can I?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Create a new empty calendar from the iCal file menu, select which account you want to create it in.
If you have only a few appointments you can move them individually by editing them and changing the calendar in the edit options.
Alternatively you can copy all the appointments in one calendar to another and delete the original.
To copy a calendar ctrl-click on it from the menu that appears when you select the calendar button (top left corner of iCal) and choose export (export it to your desktop for ease)
Double click the exported file and choose the new empty calendar to import them into.
Ctrl-click on the original calendar from the menu that appears when you select the calendar button and choose delete.

  • Can't seem to sync my phone with iCal because I get a message that says:No writable calendar. I tried the suggestions I found in Help including a Terminal command to no avail.

Can't seem to sync my phone with iCal because I get a message that says:No writable calendar. I tried the suggestions I found in Help including a Terminal command to no avail.

I can only suggest you now need to somehow link your mobile to sync with the new calendar 'On my Mac'.
I have a work Blackberry whose calendar I sync with an iCal calendar 'On my Mac' using a usb lead and the Blackberry Desktop Manager for Mac. This free piece of software from Blackberry, automatically starts up as soon as I connect the usb to the iMac and it then prompts me to select which calendar 'On the iMac', which is writable, that I want my Blackberry to sync to.

  • Can't edit existing calendar entries (synched with Google)

I have 2 iPhones synched with one Google calendar.  Creating/Deleting new entries in any one place properly synchs to the other places. My problem is that when I edit an existing calendar entry from either iPhone and save it, the change is undone shortly afterwards and the entry returns to its previous status.  The change can be to any field (description, date, time, duration, etc).  This occurs on one-time entries as well as recurring calendar events.
Any ideas on how to fix this?  TIA!

    Hi,
From my experience, sometimes the issue may occur if offline address book cannot be updated.
To manually force a download of the latest offline address book, please take the following steps:
Delete the old offline Address Book which is located in the following Outlook folders:
For Windows 7: \Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Offline Address Books
In Outlook client, click the Send/Receive tag on the top.
Go to Send/Receive Groups->click Download Address Book.
Since the issue only occur on Outlook, I recommend you to post this issue on Outlook Forum. Here is the link:

Are you using a Gmail account? If so, are you syncing your Google calendars? Did you recently subscribe to a new calendar? I have a couple of calendars (moon phases, U.S. Holidays) that I subscribe to through Google Calendar. They are not editable.

Since I updated my Iphone to IOS 7, I have lost all calender entries oin my phone and it won't sync calenders on iitunes. Anyone have this problem?

I believe anilsudhakaran meant sign out and in with your Apple ID for iTunes.
Also, do a hard reboot of your phone. I know that always helps me.
    This doesn't delete anything
Google how to do it if you are not sure how to do it.

  • Can not edit Calendar Items on iPhone 4 that were sent from Outlook 2013

    Hi Folks,
When receiving a calendar item from Outlook 2013, I can accept it, but not edit it. When I receive the same item from Outlook 2003, I can accept AND edit.
How can I edit calendar items sent from Outlook 2013?
We are not using an Exchange server, simply sending the calendar items via email. We noticed this when we upgraded our office from MS Office 2003 to 2013.
Thank you so much for your help!
    Ben Bolduc

Are you sure the Outlook 2013 calendar entries are set set to shared?
The following thread seems to document and discuss the topic well:
