HELP!!!! Can't find the duplicates

I just came back from the second trip to the Apple "Genius" Bar.
I had the pictures in iPhoto all over the place.
Apparently the "Genius" made a new iPhoto folder and I was placing all the good ones into that folder and Trashing( I say trashing, as it doesn't delete them like a PC does) the rest/
Now I have a 150 GB computer filled with 80GB of the same 9,000 pictures.
The computer is maxed out and useless with 1,000's upon 1,000's of the same photos!!!
Where does one find all the duplicates?
Trashing the pictures does not free up space. It doesn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Somewhere the computer is keeping copies of the not-so Trashed pictures!!!!!
Where can I find that? PC keep better track of that stuff.

You need to explain this. iPhoto very carefully by default keeps all of the photos in the iPhoto library and if you do not go in and mess with things iPhoto will always know where they all are.

Again please explain - did they import the photos into iPhoto? just put them in a folder named iPhoto (a strange and unusual thing to do but certainly possible)? what?

This makes no sense at all -- how did thousands upon thousands of duplicates get made of the same photos?

Have you emptied the trash? (and note that iPhoto has a different trash than the finder - it is not at all clear which you are talking about)

Simply not so - the Mac keeps track of files exactly as the PC does

Help:Can not find the file in jar!

Hello everyone:
I build a project using Netbeans 5.0 and make a jar file with it...
The code in the project as follows will throw an exception described that it can not find the file named datasource-config.xml
String dataFilePath = getClass().getResource(dataFile).getPath();

InputStream input = new FileInputStream(dataFilePath);
when I run the project with the main() function as an entry it works perfectly and output:
filepath:/C:/projects/java_project/search/build/classes/com/cn/wxjt/lucene/config/datasource-config.xml
But when I compressed the project with jar and run it , it will show:
filepath:file:/C:/projects/java_project/search/dist/search.jar!/com/cn/wxjt/lucene/config/datasource-config.xml
there is a (!) between search.jar and /com/cn/wxjt...
I dont know why I generate a ! symbol in the file path... Is it cause the exception->
java.io.FileNotFoundException: file:\C:\projects\java_project\search\dist\search.jar!\com\cn\wxjt\lucene\config\datasource-config.xml

If the file you want to read is in your jar file, use
getClass ().getResourceAsStream

i m using this.getClass().getResource("resource/backend.xml");
the resource is the directory inside the jar file.
when i prints the url it shows:
the jar file is in the WORK directory
URL : jar:file:/home/neeraj/WORK/show.jar!/resource/backend.xml
now when i creates new File using the url.getFile() method the file does not exist.
although the same programs runs well when i uses the InputStream
so plz tell me cant I create a new File from the above method????

I can't find the duplicates tab that i always found useful, it seems to have disappeared from the new iTunes, does anybody know what to do next?

Where has the find duplicates function gone in the new iTunes? It use to be in a drop down task bar menu in the old versions but i can't find it in the latest.
Also while i am in iTunes mode, when i open iTunes i get a message
I have checked the Firewall pane of Security & Privacy preferences and the light is green as in allow, yet the message keeps coming up every time i open iTunes, any idea on how to get rid?

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

Slideshow with filmstrip plz help, can't find the answer anywhere!

Hi, I'm def not a website designer but need to do 1 up for myself and am trying to keep it pretty basic.
I'm using 2 widgets, a menu and the slideshow with filstrip. The slideshow worked fine for me but my dropdown menu would always be under it so you couldn't see some of the ones to click on. To fix this I played with the z-index and it finally worked when I added a z-index of -1 to the slideshow. However now the slideshow is simply that a slideshow. I can no longer go forward or backwards or pause nor can I click on the thumbnails to go directly to those images.
Does anyone know what Im doing wrong. Either to get this going or to remove the z-index so the slideshow works but have a way to get my drop down menu then still infront of the slideshow? Its almost as if I need my menu infront of the slideshow but the slide show controls in front of the menu and I have no idea what I'm doing.
Please if you have any ideas or suggestions I would love any help possible, I'm going insane here! :S Thank-you all so much in adance!

You can run dual monitors.
The following combinations are possible in DualView mode:
digital monitor (onboard DVI) + analog monitor (onboard VGA)
digital monitor (onboard DVI) + TV (onboard TV out)
As GeForce 6150 has only one RAMDAC (Random Access Memory Digital/Analog Converter), the following combination is not possible:
analog monitor with a DVI to VGA adapter (onboard DVI) + analog monitor (onboard VGA)
analog monitor (onboard VGA) + TV (onboard TV out)

Hi,
You're on the right track using COUNT (*), but, for this job, you want the analytic COUNT, not the aggregate COUNT.
"GROUP BY x, y, z" means that the result set will only contain 1 row for each distinct combination of x, y and z. Most aggregate functions (including COUNT) have analytic counterparts that get the same results without reducing the number of rows.
Here's one way you can use the analytic COUNT function:

i have already try the copy/paste thing with the ID of the file "iTunes Music Library.xml" it didn't change a thing. each time I relaunched Itunes, the ID is the first I have in the MAC.
I have more than 5 000 files of music. I don't want to recreate one by one all my playlits.

You can sync iphone with one and only one computer at a time. If you sync to another, it will erase the current content and replace with content form the new computer. There is no way around this.
Put everything on one computer and sync from there.
BTW, you posted in the Home Share forum. Your question seems to have nothing to do with home share.

We have just purchased Apple TV and can't connect to Home Sharing. We have wifi, the iPad is updated. I can't find the link on ITunes on the iPad that the tv is telling me to click. I've also tried turning it on via settings then music which seems to be connected. I can view YouTube clicks on the tv, but not an app so I can watch the footy. What am I doing wrong.

Make sure your Apple TV is on the same network as your iPad. The SSID and password of router must be set in your Apple TV.

Your steps so far are OK but you may want to try:
1 Trash your user library Caches folder (House Icon with short name in Finder window (hard drive window)GOTO:House icon > Library folder > caches folder
2 Trash the com.apple.Safari.plist file in User library > preferences folder > Safari.plist as well as removing the library Safari folder its self.
3 you can selectivly re-install Safari 2.0 from your OS Tiger Install disk 1, (see Knowledge base article 301229 for how to just select the Safari Application) without doing a complete system Archive and Install.
4. Create a new Test user account on the system and test how Safari responds in the Test user, see if its a user related issue and not system issue.
5. Still no Safari response? have to do an Archive and install (not preserving user and network settings)article 107120
PS. Issue may be related to actual internet connection connectivity, power cycle cable modem and router or airport if using one as well as the computer(keep unplugged for 3-5 min) and plug the cable modem in and then the router/airport then power on the computer. Do the Airport Admin utiliy (applications, utilities on HD_1)update.
- do a hard reset of airport knowledge base article 108044(Express base) and 107451 (Extreme base)
- Check with internet provider for connection issues "cannot find server" ect.

Try this...
Triple click anywhere in the line below to select it and press Ctrl+C to copy it.
cmd /k netsh winsock reset
Press the WinLogoKey+R to open the run dialog, then Ctrl+V to paste, then press enter/return.
You should get something similar to this:
Reboot the computer and the problem should be resolved.
If it doesn't work then perhaps a full tear down and rebuild of iTunes will fix things. See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for details.

This solved my problem with the printing.

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.
