HELP!!!  Can't open .pdf file!

I have been sent a .pdf file which I am normally able to open but this file that was sent to me keeps sending me to Adobe's download page for a reader. I downloaded it thinking it was some kind of update and then it asked me to set up an account which I did. Now, I go back to try to open the file again and it sent me back to the download page!!! What is going on? Why am I not able to open this file and when I called to contact Adobe tech support, they sent me to Customer Support, who set up another account for me and told me to go back to the website and put my request in here. They said I should get a response back immediately. Anyone out there who can help me please?!

Forget it...I've been lied to and treated like crap long enough and I'm not getting anywhere or any answers. I feel like I've been given the run around in a very bad way. Not happy with Adobe at all. I've got better things to do with my time than to try and figure out a problem with a .pdf file. I'll have to have the information sent to me in a different way and let our IT group know that this program is not working for us and see if they can find another program with better customer/tech support.

    This may because the attachment is a winmail.dat file. I would recommend taking a look at the article below for more information. Note: the article is written for OS X mail, but does also apply to this situation.

  • Can't open PDF files from Windows Explorer on Windows 8.1

    Hello,
    after I've upgraded to Windows 8.1, I can't open PDF files from Windows Explorer (directly double clicking the file). The AcroRd32.exe runs in the background (2x !) as I see the processes in task manager, but there is no user interface visible. I have Acrobat
    Reader 11.0.06, the desktop version (not Metro). I tried uninstalling the Acrobat reader and installing it again but this didn't help. The only way to open PDF files is to close the AcroRd32.exe from the task manager, open empty Acrobat Reader from the desktop
    and then drag&drop the PDF file over that window. This is quite inconvenient. Is there a way to fix this issue so I can open PDF files directly from windows explorer?

    I had to install adobe reader, but   PDF's used to display just fine with IE, any idea what happened ?

    Ignore the instructions about "edit options", to install Adobe Reader download the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/ and run the installer. Alternatively, a direct link for the latest version of Adobe Reader is:

    My mother has Adobe Reader XI installed on her laptop and still can't open PDF files. We've tried uninstalling and installing several different versions and nothing seems to work. Can someone please help? Thank you.

    It's when she tries to open things that she gets online - like credit card statements, etc. It's also stuff that she gets emailed to her as a PDF attachment. It'll look like the document is going to open, but then she gets the following error message in a pop-up window:
    There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try. (103:103).

    It is one of those rare occasions where Apple comes off badly against microsoft. Opening a pdf attachment using windows is a doddle. Opening a pdf document on my mac seems to require me to save the document first - clunky to say the least, opening a pdf on ipad - impossible! All in all pretty rubbish. Can't believe they don't have something like this nailed.

    I have seen this issue fixed for some users by modifying the following registry key:
    The key is "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" MoveImages
    Set the key to 1 instead of 0 then reboot the machine.
    In case you still face the issue try the following registry key change:
    The only thing you have to do is rename the following key at the REGEDIT, and everything will be fine !!
    BEFORE:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.exe
    AFTER:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.old
    Note: Please take a backup of the registry before attempting this change.

    I have installed it and whenever I try to open pdf files it says I need to agree with your liscens and you do that automatically when you download it.     Flash Player CANNOT open PDFs because they AREN'T Flash Documents.
    Adobe Reader opens PDFs.
    To accept the license agreement (NOT the one you accepted to download or install - the one for USE)
    Windows:
    Go to: C/Program Files(x86)/Adobe/Reader 11.0/Reader and double click the eula.exe file. The license agreement will open for you to accept.
    Mac:
    Go to: Mac HD/Applications and double click the Reader app. The license agreement will open THE FIRST TIME you open it.

    I already fixed it. I never exited out of Firefox before deleting the mime file. it works now.

    From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.

    If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
