HELP!

had same problem - Bluetooth Gone. I had unending pinwheel and had to force shut-down the laptop. After restart the Bluetooth was gone as was the ICON for Bluetooth on the System Preference and Utilities screens.
I have read all of the solutions listed included resetting PROM (holding option + command + P + R down when you turn the unit on) BUT I just got off the phone with Apple and the following fixed this for me:
1) Shut down laptop and bluetooth device (keyboard for me).
2) Disconnect power and Remove battery (aluminum version you lift the tab on underside and remove panel - then (with tab still up) pull the battery out with plastic pull - make sure the tab on bottom has not gone closed as it locks the battery in place even with cover off)
3) With no power and no battery - turn unit over and press the start button for at least 5 seconds)
4) Replace battery and plug laptop power back in.
5) Start laptop and bluetooth device.
At this point my icon was back and the device paired immediately with the MacBook. The Support tech says it is not an OS issue (we did not discuss Snow Leopard in particular.)
This procedure is called an SCM Reset and is good when you have hardware related failures like a missing (or false "hardware not found") issues like this missing Bluetooth Module issue.

  • IPad Mini paired with bluetooth keyboard - periodically losing all Function keys

    iPad Mini 6.0.2 (10A550)
Model MD529LL (32 gig wifi only)
    Apple Bluetooth Keyboard (Model A1314)
I'm listening to the Mini, unplugged from power, with headphones, and the bluetooth keyboard connected.  When playing music using either the IOS Music app, or Pandora, I am periodically losing the keyboard Function keys (brightness, track back, play/pause, track forward, mute, and volume up and down).  Yet all other keyboard functions keep working -- I'm able to type email messages even though the Function keys are not working.
I have not found the exact combination of activities that causes the Function keys to stop working.  I've tried using only Pandora, or only Music, letting the screen sleep, wake it back up with different methods.  I can't break it at will, but eventually it does stop working.  A power off and reboot of the iPad restores functionality.
Has anyone seen a bug of this type reported yet?

  • IPad 2 can't pair with iMac wireless Keyboard (late 2009)

ipad 2 will not pair with wireless keyboard that came with iMac late 2009.
I've read countless ways to do this in support forums, but no matter what I do, I can not get the ipad 2 to work with my wireless keyboard.
In settings>bluetooth, I UNCHECKED discoverable for the keyboard, as I've read many times.
I then clicked the minus button and a box came up ( I can not recall what it said but it basically asked if I wanted to ?remove? the device, and I clicked OK.
Then, I went to the iPad 2, into bluetooth, and went to pair it. The keyboard was discoverable, and then something with a code came up on the iPad screen, and I clicked OK.
NOTHING happened, even though it said it was connected.
I looked at my iMac screen, and there was something there with a code that had to be typed in? This is where I get confused. I disconnected the keyboard, yet I got a box on the iMac screen, asking me to put the code in to pair it with the ipad 2 !  I figured it must be a mistake, because I disconnected the keyboard from the imac.
well, I tried to key in the code and it worked on the IMAC...which, technically, it should not have been able to do.
I've watched countless Youtube videos, read through the support forums here and...I can't find anyone with  this same problem and so, I toss it out to you all in Apple Support.
What could I be doing wrong??
    Thanks.

Spoke with an Apple Care Tech today on this issue:
Apparently, this is how it works : First, you have to go to BLUE TOOTH and when you see your keyboard, delete it or remove it, and then shut down the computer.
Then, you must go to your iPAD. (initially, your blue tooth on iPAD should be TURNED OFF- now, turn it ON.
Press and hold the button on the right side of your keyboard for 5 seconds, and watch for it to blink then go off.
Next, push the button on the side of the keyboard again, it will go on.
On your ipad, under Blue Tooth, you will see some numbers and it might say NOT CONNECTED. Click that.
Be patient and then under that, something like YOUR NAME KEYBOARD will appear. Click it and it will give you a code to type in. Type it in. Be patient. Might not take the first time. Do it again. When the code comes up again, type it in again.
This worked for me as suddenly the keyboard was paired with the iPAD 2.
When you want to unpair it, turn blue tooth on the  ipad OFF. Turn your computer back on. Initially your screen will come up to sign in (if you have it set up that way). In a few seconds, you will see that your keyboard has reconnected to your Mac. Sign in and that's that:)

  • How can I pair with Apple TV without going to set up on Apple TV?

How can I pair with Apple TV without going to set up on Apple TV?

Sign up for what? All you need is airplay enabled on ATV, then when iPad is on the same network you double tap home button, swipe (left to right motion) and you will bring up the volume/brightness controls, along with airplay. Tap on airplay (rectangle with triangle in it) and select ATV, toggle ON mirroring.
The only way to mirror the iPad is wirelessly through ATV or by purchasing the adapter and connecting directly to your TV. Bluetooth via your Blu-Ray player won't help with this.

  • IPhone6 won't pair with BlueTooth on MBPro

IPhone6, iOS 8.1.1 won't pair with BlueTooth on MBPro nor can I use it as Blue Tooth "hands free" device in my car. Blue Tooth is enabled on the phone and on the MBPro.  I try to "connect to network" on the iPhone, using BT preferences on the MBPro, but get the message "can't connect" . On the MBPro, have gone to Sys. Pref., Network, can see the phone but again get the same message when I try to connect.
On the phone under the green button (which enables) the BlueTooth, I see the word "other devices" and a spinning beach ball as the phone tries to find additional devices but no joy.
Have Googled the problem, am reading similar issues - people seem to think it was the new iOS 8.0 and 8.1.1 was supposed to be a fix but it isn't.  Any thoughts out there would be much appreciated.

Great - finally got our iPhones6 "discoverable" on our car. Whew!!!  Thank you so much.
But, still can't pair our iPHone with my MBPro.  Follwed directions on your link but no joy....<sigh>
The MBPro does NOT find the iPhone device. Don't know why......
However, the biggest problem is solved, hopefully.....that being the car/phone connection.
    Appreciate the assistance.
    thx

  • IPod Touch with Bluetooth Keyboard?

Can I use a Bluetooth keyboard with my iPod Touch 4th Gen without anything 3rd party? If not, is there any 3rd party freeware that does not require jailbreaking that I can use?
I tried to Google this for an answer, but I only got jailbreaking solutions. I jailbroke my iPhone 1st Gen, and it's now really unstable. Also, the programmers on Cydia suck so their apps end up hoggish and glitchy.

Thanks, somehow I could never find an article on that on Apple.com...
But the Apple keyboard I am using seems to only work sometimes (my Mac usually can't connect to it).
