HELP! CAN'T RESTORE!
I try restoring my 8gig ipod touch and I recieve the error message "the ipod could not be restored. the device is not eligible for the requested build." so i looked online and found someone who had the same problem and tried doing what they said worked, hitting the erase all content button on the touch. I did that, and it said it could take an hour. It went to a loading screen for a few minutes, then appeared to reboot. since then it has continued showing the apple sign as if it is turning on, but then the screen flashes white and does the same thing over and over. I tried holding down the home and power button for 3o seconds, which took me to a screen that tells me to connect the device to itunes, which i do, and it tells me that itunes detects a device in recovery mode and needs to be restored. I try hitting restore from there, and get the same message. How can I fix this? what do I do? can ANYONE out there help?
I had that problem a few days ago and I couldn't find any help online. Luckily I solved the problem, so here's hoping my solution works for you.
The reason for the error message ("this device is ineligible") is that you had an older firmware version on your device, and Apple stopped supporting it. Now, in a normal world, Apple's support or lack thereof would not determine whether you can restore something that is backed up on YOUR computer. But this is not a normal world... (I could tell you why Apple handles things this way, but I doubt they'd appreciate it on their forum. Let's just say: business protection).
There is a simple solution: When you plug in your device, select it in the left panel of iTunes, and click "update" (not "restore"). Apple will be more than happy to give you the current version of its iOS firmware! Note that if there is an update available for iTunes, you will be prompted to install it before you can deal with the firmware for your device.

Help - Can not restore 3GS 3.0.1
Help! I can not restore my brand new iPhone 3GS. I have NOT upgraded to 3.1 and won't until I know it's stable, but when I try to restore to 3.0.1 it tells me "Verifying restore with Apple" and then "iPhone is not eligible for restore". Again, I am NOT trying to downgrade, I have not installed 3.1 and in fact have not even downloaded 3.1 I'm just trying to restore 3.0.1 on top of 3.0.1.
I don't know whether or not it's working for "most people", but I, too, am trying to figure out a way to "down"grade to 3.0. Ever since I updated to 3.1, the 3G connection that ALWAYS worked in my usual hangout spots, now don't work half the time. Sometimes, if I switch to Edge and then back to 3G, things work again...sometimes they don't.
I am thinking of taking the phone to one of those Genius dudes at the local Apple store this weekend - do you guys think that they'll restore it to 3.01 for me? I mean, how do I even "show" them the problem if it's location dependent and may not even be a problem at the store?
I see many complaints about battery issues, wifi issues, hangs, etc. with 3.1, but I don't know whether Apple is aware of this? -

I really need some help, ok so I use Time Machine and backup weekly on my Time Capsule so I know my work is safe. But now here comes the question I just realised I need to restore some pictures but I do not know how to go about it. Do I have to restore the whole Aperture Library which is 40GB, or can I just restore a particular project or even much better just restore a picture?

Those are two different things. It's likely all managed by the Aperture application, but the data won't be inside the app itself.
But yes, if you can tight-click click on that folder, then +Show Package Contents+ and navigate to individual pictures from the normal Finder, you're not going to be able to restore selected items.
iPhoto is similar, but has it's own special handling with Time Machine, where you can browse and/or restore individual items from the +iPhoto Library+ package.
You might find some info in the Aperture forum.
It's a bit cumbersome, but you might be able to restore the whole thing to an alternate location, then copy what you want from the restored package. -
Help, Can't restore my iPhone 3GS
I was downloading a new software (vs. 4.3.5 I think) for my iPhone 3GS and a "1015 problem" occured. I have restored it more than 5 times but nothing happens, im scared of doing "jailbreaks" 'cause im not using the original SIM nor company because Im in Chile and needed to change USA's "AT&T" for a latin company called "Claro". Please Any Help???
You cannot get help on this forum. Error 1015 occurs when trying to restore a jailbroken phone. If your phone was originally locked to AT&T and now you're using it in Latin America, your phone was definitely jailbroken.

I am a newbie...and I think I did a big no-no as my Ipad isn't working. I synced it to a second computer at work which is a new Imac after already syncing to my pc at home with Itunes. Now it says it can't restore and can't get it to open, getting error messages but can't fix myself. Can anyone help??
iPad can connect only in one iTunes Library. If you want to connect it to a iTunes Library then you have to erase it. You can erase it from iTunes. Make sure you iPad doesn't have a password, or if it has a password make sure that you connect to the computer and enter the password of your iPad

I am having a few problems with bootcamp on my imac. When i tried to move the bootcamp partition on windows 7 into free space, it crashed and turned off. Ever since i have had the error 'Missing operating system' and it fails to boot. I have some very important files on the bootcamp partition. Is it possible to recover these files or even to restore the bootcamp partition to it's original state? I do not have a backup of my bootcamp partition. Another problem i have is that ever since i tried to expand my macintosh HD partition into free space, when i hold alt while booting up (to choose which partition to boot like i normally do), the bootcamp partition has stopped appearing. This means that i cannot even boot the windows 7 bootcamp partition anymore!
So basically here are my 2 questions:
How can i restore/recover files from Bootcamp with Boot Failure - Missing operating system error?
How can i make the Bootcamp partition appear in Startup Disk and when i hold the option key while starting up my computer to allow me to boot windows 7?
Any solutions are very much apreciated!

I know that bootcamp (disk0s4) hasn't been fully deleted since it appears in disk utility (i cant do anything to it though)
And here is the error i see when i try to launch bootcamp (back when i was actually able to boot up bootcamp to the error screen)WinClone 3 is OS X and saves Windows image it makes for restore - that should work but you will have to try and you would need to make a new image unless it also works with a native Windows system restore image. It is now supported and has come a long way.

Paragon Clone OS works and does disk-to-disk clone just like CCC you end up with two bootable drives. But does not work with your setup. It would let you clone and move your Windows install to an SSD or another disk drive though and be bootable.
During its clone process it checks for errors which is very helpful and lets you know - something CCC and others should adopt more of.

I would rearrange and redo your storage setup and how you use the 4-5 internal hard drive bays. -
Hi, umm so anyways my ipod is about 2 years old now and i think the reason why it started to malfunction in the first place was because i had too much stuff on my ipod, apps, movies, and junk. But now i took it to the apple store and they were able to restore my ipod but when i go home it goes bad again and i try ot restore it on my laptop and it says it can't restore it. (11) and another thing is that when i try to turn my ipod on, it turns on to the apple logo then all of a sudden theres suppose to be the unlock screen but instead a black screen with a tiny loading sign in the middle and it keeps buffering and it never turns on. and then it shuts off with a white screen and then does the same exact thing for like 10 minutes. please help me. I dont know what to do. and my dad will be very ****** if it cant be helped..D:

iPhone 4 went into recovery mode when trying to restore it. Now the only option iTunes allows is for "restore & upgrade", it is not offer an option to restore from a backup, says that must first do the upgrade, when attempting to do the upgrade the iPhone won't accept it.
How can I restore from a back up in recovery mode when the only option is "restore and upgrade"?
Please help.You don't you must restore your phone first and then you will have the option to restore from your backup.

Nokia Lumia 928 apparently died after an attempted Windows 8.1 update. Replacement phone arrived the next day. How can I restore my contacts, photos, etc.? Backup assistant is no help and I don't know how to access the Cloud.

I had to reformat my OSX 10.5.8 and I can't restore my emails from my time machine backup from an external hard drive - only the latest (post backup) time machine back ups are available to restore. Please can any help? I can find the mail folder in my libraries, but the Restore Button is grayed out
OSX treats the reformatted drive as a different one; it's the same as replacing it, and the old one is no longer connected.

I had to wipe my machine and create a new account. Now I can't restore my iWeb domain file and thus can't edit my site. When I do try to restore the file I'm told:

I've changed the permissions of the domain file/folder itself (within Time Machine) but I gather it wants me to change the permission of everything in there, which would presumably take hours and hours.
I've tried just dragging the domain file from the hard drive where the Time Machine backup is stored but the result of that is:

Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. -

The reset link for the security question will send the email to your rescue email account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312 - that is the email account that you are checking, and you've checked the spam folder on it as well as the inbox, and tried clicking the reset link again ?
If you aren't receivineg the email then you will need to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset.

When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 link above to view your rescue email address to check that it's correct, in case you need to use it in the potential future use
