Help : can't start install on PowerMac G4

Hi all,
I am a new Mac user! I just got a PowerMac G4 dual-processor 1 GHz with Mac OS 9.2.2 and would like to install Leopard on it... But, the install program does not start when I insert the DVD, even after having restarted the computer.
Only a window appears with the main DVD folders. I can't start 'Install Mac OS X.app'...
My PowerMac has a Pioneer DVR-104.
So, what's wrong?

Do you have at least 512 MB RAM?
I wonder if OS9 does not "understand" the Leopard install program.
I would suggest backing up everything on the system you want to keep and then reboot with the Leopard DVD in the drive and hold down the "C" key. You should be able to do an install that way. I would highly recommend an erase and install. On the page after the Language screen, at the bottom, select Options and then select Erase and Install.

Help -can't start up after uupgrade and 'internet cleanup' install

I've got a problem... trying to remember how my installs went, but recently installed 10.5.4 and shortly thereafter a smith micro product called internet cleanup. in addition, during the restart, the air conditioner for our upstairs (computer / exercise room died and at 85F or so, returned to find the fans running full blast and the international "NO" sign in place of the gray apple at startup.
I am unable to start up at this point and don't know why. I have run disk utility and repaired 1 permission, no joy, and ran disk warrior last night and still can't start up. OS cd and DW see my drive ok and perform tests and repairs ok, but still can't start up.
if anyone has a recommendation, I'm all ears. I'm ready to start unplugging any peripherals, open the case, and unplug memory, not knowing what else to do.

Get a UPS 1500VA for your Mac Pro.
I would be surprised Smith is 10.5.x compatible, why not look at Onyx or Leopard Cache Cleaner, or just manually clean out ~/Library/Caches/
Resetting the SMC (button for pre-2008, leaving unplugged for 2008 model).

Obviously first, if DW repairs your drive and you are running 10.5.4, you have another disk drive and can boot, no?
Backups and cloned system?
Else, start installing and setting up a new OS boot drive. Later you can try to merge or migrate and salvage files and applications.

Help, can't start power mac !

I suddenly can't start my Powermac G5.
It starts to boot until it gets to the blue screen with the OSX logo and the little blue bar that goes from left to right. But the bar never starts and thats as far as it gets.
What should i do next ?

You won't be able to reinstall with the iMac disks. The iMac uses different drivers then a G5 would. If the G5 accepted the install (it probably won't) you would be plagued with operational difficulties, kernel panics, etc.
You could try to boot up on them to do a Disk Repair as I referenced in the link. Running a repair will be OK. Your G5 may not let you do it though.

Help: Can't start up in Safe Mode!

I'm trying to fire up in Safe Mode to do a few Spotlight housekeeping tasks but my Mac won't have it. When I try start up Safe it gets no further than the Grey Apple Logo and spinning wheel. After a short while the fans spin up to full speed and nothing else happens. I have to force the Mac to shut down and I can then start up again normally.
Any help on this would be much appreciated as there may come a time when I NEED to start up in Safe Mode.

Might want to try a Single User mode boot (command +s) and run fsck.
-Startup in Single User mode.
-At the command-line prompt, type */sbin/fsck -fy*. Press Return.
fsck will go through five "phases" and then return information about your disk's use and fragmentation. Once it finishes, it'll display this message if no issue is found:
The volume (nameofvolume) appears to be OK
-If fsck found issues and has altered, repaired, or fixed anything, it will display this message:
FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED
Important: If this message appears, repeat the fsck command again, until fsck tells you that your volume appears to be OK (first-pass repairs may uncover additional issues, so this is a normal thing to do).
-When fsck reports that your volume is OK, type reboot at the prompt and then press Return.
-Your computer should start up normally and allow you to log in.
After this, try a Safe mode boot, again.
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck

I already partitioned my hdd via Bootcamp, supports downloaded, and windows is on an external USB. How can I start installing Windows now? at startup it doesnt show up as bootable device...

I am having a problem installing windows via bootcamp.
I already partitioned my hdd via Bootcamp, downloaded and copied all the supports for windows, and windows is on an external USB as well. I had to stop the process the other day, so i shut down the computer. Now I am trying to boot from the USB, but I cant get to that point where the computer should restart and windows would start installing.
. After restarting, holding command, it doesnt show up as bootable device.
How shall I move forward? My disk is already partitioned, and if i start the whole process from the beginning, it wants me to partition again - although I already made a 100GB partition for windows.
Please help me out.

So, here is what happened when I tried to make it.(sorry for quality, i had to take them by phone)
At first when I opened it I saw that I could simply resolve it just by stretching the arrow at the bottom, giving the 100 GB back which I partitioned before via Bootcamp. At this point options was not available.
I didnt do it because you mentioned earlier that it might be not designed to install windows.
The second thing I tried I choose 1 Partition from Partition Layout. This time Options were available but I didnt see anything like GPT, the onces that are optionable are on the screenshot.
What do you think how shall I move on? I was thinking to give it a shot with option 1, just stretch it back and try everything from scratch.

Hi - I just want to clarify that National Instruments does not make any signal conditioning modules or other products that are designed for direct connection to a human subject (we don't design or certify to the required medical safety standards). Our products are often used in conjunction with amplifiers or signal conditioners that are designed for these applications that have outputs that are filtered, isolated, and amplified and are ready to be digitized by a DAQ board or other NI product.
If used on animals, these safety concerns are often not as big an issue, but you still need a specialized signal conditioner that has a relatively high gain and balanced differential inputs (with high common-mode rejection) to acquire a good, low-noise ECG signal. This is similar to a thermocouple type input module, but with more bandwidth than a typical thermocouple module and AC coupling.
Bottom line: you really need to use a specialized biosignal amplifier that has a single-ended analog output to connect to NI DAQ boards or FPGA boards.

I've only had my ibook for a few weeks and came back to it after 24 hours to find it frozen. I turned it off, managed to get a grey screen with apple symbol, tried single-user restart with fsck which told me I had an HD volume error which it couldn't repair. I then tried the install disk OS9 but it wouldn't start in safe mode. Then I pressed C and restarted and now I have Mac OS X log in screen up but it won't accept my password. I am DESPERATE - with a dissertation to finish. Can anyone help please?

I suggest bring it to your local Apple Store/Reseller and have it checked out by an Apple Certified Technician. To be honest, I am surprised your S.M.A.R.T. status is failing after a couple of weeks. Your iBook should be covered by Apple's One (1) Year Limited Warranty, but it really depends on the circumstances. The warranty doesn't cover damage inflicted by the consumer*. Do you have an external hard drive? You may want to invest in an external hard drive for backing up your computer. There a many reasons for getting one; let us know if you would like suggestions or reasons why to invest in one. You should probably backup your computers hard drive before bringing it to the Apple Store. You may want to look at Knowledge Base Document #106941 which has examples on How to back up and restore your files. Do you have access to another Mac? You can transfer files from your iBook via Target Disk Mode (the other Mac needs FireWire). You may want to look at Knowledge Base Document #58583 on How to use FireWire target disk mode for more information.

Need Cube help. can't re-install OS.

A friend bought a Cube on eBay. It came with no disks. It only has a user account. No admin account. So I figured to just wipe computer using 10.4 install cd. 10.4.11 is installed on the computer.
We don't have an admin name or password.
Every time I insert the install cd, it is rejected. If I restart and hold down the C key, the computer will not boot from it.
Is there anyway to force the computer into starting from CD? Sort a recovery mode so I can wipe the drive and reinstall?
I can't create other accounts because no admin privileges.
I'm lost on this one.

So here is what I did after all failed.
I used Carbon Copy Cloner to copy the install CD to an external Firewire Drive.
Booted the Cube with the Option key down. The FireWire came up. Booted from the install copy on the FW drive. Wiped the Cube and reinstalled.
This was my last resort because all my extra drives are formated GUID and full. So I had to move so much around. Reformat, Clone. The hours I was trying to avoid.
I thank all for the help. But I got it and now just running all the updates.
The good thing about this is? This is a friend that is a die hard PC guy. He wanted to try a Mac so he bought a Cube on eBay. He fell in love with this thing last night. So add another convert to Apple.

HELP - CAN'T START ITUNES

Hi,
I previously had iTunes running with my iPod 30 GB - something has obviously happened and everytime I try to start iTUnes, I get an error message that says "<process has already exited> has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You must restart , etc."
Can anyone help me solve this problem?

You need to go here and follow ALL steps for removing iTUnes and disable your antivirus and reinstall it. Doing this you WILL NOT loose music or playlist

Help:can't start intelligent agent

but when i start intelligent agent with :./agentctl start,
an error occured:./agentctl: error while loading shared libraries: libvppdc.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.
But I found the libvppdc.so is in $ORACLE_HOME/lib!!!
Anyone encountered the same problem?

I assume you are on the windows platform and you downloaded a .zip file. Obviously you are missing an unzip program, because otherwise it would be started automatically. You may download winzip from www.winzip.com, which afterwards can be used to unzip the downloaded files.

HELP - Can't Open/Install Apps With Spotify

Hi there.
My computer is running on Windows 7 x64.
My problem: I want to install the musiXmatch or TuneWiki App for my spotify desktop player. So I got to this page. Now when I click on "Open In Spotify" my sporitfy player pops up and shows me the following error message:
"There was a problem displaying this view! - This view either does not exist or an error occured."
Of course I also tried all the other apps. Same problem.
So for now I am unable to implement any app.
So does anyone have an idea how I could fix this to help me out?

Please help - Can I start my use of Adobe Muse when I choose? I have purchased a month by month

Hi, I have purchased a month by month subscription to creative cloud to use Adobe Muse. I only want to use it for a month though. I have not used it yet but I need to know when my 'month' actually starts - I assumed it would start when I initiated the program and was ready to use it!?
I have downloaded the program (Adobe Muse) and left it - assuming it would only begin my 'month use' when I started up the program (as in a 30day trial)
My account is due to automatically renew my subscription soon (which I didn't realise either - I figured I paid once for a month use!) and I will be charged for another months use now - however, as you can understand by now, I want it to start when I want to use it! - not as soon as I have purchased a month by month subscription (hope that makes sense)
What are peoples thoughts on this and is there anything I can do allowing me to activate 1 months use for one months paid for subscription?
My fear is that I will have paid for one month that is neraly over and I havn't even used the program yet!?
Please advise!

Oracle 9i can't start install progress

I download oracle 9i install disk and extract to my hard disk E:(NTFS Partition, 46GB). I click setup.exe, after wait 6 seconds, no response.
My computer:
Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack3,
CPU P4 2.4GB, Seagate Hard Disk ST380021A, 256M RAM
three Partition:
C: is NTFS, 10GB, D: is FAT32, E:NTFS,46GB

this is BUG. if you copy install files to a bigger partition (bigger than 24GB), this problem appears.
but when copy to another smaller partition, no any problem

If you are still receiving this error message when running the proper installation media then please remove all Adobe Creative Software and run the CS Cleaner Tool. It would be the best way to remove the Adobe Application Manager to allow you to reinstall.
