HELP! - Can't update Adobe Air Apps - Application Install Error
I have several Adobe Air Apps on my Mac OSX (10.9.4) MackBook Pro. They won't update due to the following Install Error.
"The application cannot be installed due to a certificate problem. The certificate does not match the installed application certificate, does not support application upgrades, or is invalid. Please contact the application author."
Following the above instructions, I've been contacting the authors of my Adobe Air Apps and they are telling me that it is not their problem. The Apps should simply update without difficulty.
I searched the "Google" and found no fix other than uninstall and reinstall Adobe Air. Did this and the problem persists.
If you can help me get beyond this issue and back to productivity, I'd be very appreciative.

I had a similar problem when trying to install Zinio.air. I have made it all work out. What i did was remove Adobe Air 15 entirely from the Utiliites and Library/ accounts and preferences. I then downloaded Adobe Air 13 and installed and then clicked on Zinio .air and it all installed ok. I also had to temporarily change security settings from Apple approved to Anywhere. All functioning now.

I updated to Yosemite and had some issues. After receiving help from Apple, I could not open a third-party app; it said I needed to update Adobe AIR. When I tried to do that, I got the same message saying I needed to update AIR again. I tried uninstalling and installing AIR but without success. What steps do I need to take?

Insert help into an existing adobe air app
Is there a way to somehow stick the adobe air help into an existing adobe air application? Ideally, we would like to bundle the two apps together so that when they click help it opens the robohelp adobe air help app. Does anyone know of any way to do this without using any other third party source like merapi? Could we export the help into a swc or something like that?

Can not find Adobe AIR APP Short cut
I restored my computer to a date before I installed a Adobe AIR app, but now Can't find anyway to open it. There are no shortcuts to Adobe AIR or to The APP. When I try to reinstall the APP it says the app is already installed! I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times the ADOBE AIR itself.
There is no need to uninstall earlier versions unless you are really short of disk space.
Get the latest version of AIR here:

Adobe AIR won't install - error in CryptAcquireContext
Trying to install updated Adobe AIR. Failed to update, so uninstalled and tried again. Still fails. Problem is in MSI install, so that log is included as well.

It appears that the problem has been caused by a Microsoft Windows security update, KB2918614. This was applied to my PC on 14 August but I think it was released on 12 August.
I used Windows Update > View Update History > Installed Updates to uninstall KB2918614. After a Restart, I managed to install AIR.
My Windows version is Vista and I don't know if this problem and solution applies for other versions. -
Can individual Adobe Air apps be installed without local admin permission into a user-owned folder?
Is this a supported scenario?
Windows 7 PC.
Adobe Air runtime (latest; 4.0) has been installed by an administrator using a local admin account and the eulaAccepted file is present under the "All Users" profile.
User logs in using her own account which does not have local admin rights.
User downloads an Air app and tries to install it to C:\Users\<username> where she has full write permissions to the disk.
What I observe when acting as the User is that the Windows UAC (security escalation to local admin rights) dialog pops up. Can anyone clearly state what the Adobe Air installer is doing that requires the UAC escalation when installing an app to a user's folder? Thanks.Thanks for your reply, Chris. We're working around these problems by deploying the Air runtime + the application separately using an administration tool, which is fine for now.
I logged the question because I don't see any registry edits or privileged folder access taking place. I suspect that the UAC escalation has something to do with the "eulaAccepted" file; checking that it exists. I doubt that escalated permissions are really required for this. In the long term, it'd be good if this "use case" could be added to the test cycle of Air; perhaps the UAC dialog could be avoided, improving the flexibility of deployment options.
Ideally the test would start with an adminstrator-installed Air package *without* the EULA being accepted. The user should be able to install apps and approve the EULA without the UAC dialog popping up at all. -
I can't update adobe air. It says my administrator won't let me - but this is my own PC.
Adobe air says I need an update. Every time I try to update I get the same message. I think Firefox may be the 'administrator' in question.
How can I tell firefox to allow the installation, or make adobe air an approved site?Latest Version of Air won't install on my MAC! Help!

I have Vista Ultimate 64-bit with SP2 and I am having the issue of not being able to install any Adobe AIR applications. When I go to say install Tweetdeck by hitting the install button, all I get is the prompt that something went wrong with installing the application. This happens in Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, and Opera. The only way that I can get it to install was to uninstall AIR then click the download/install app of the application where it then automatically installs AIR. However even after the install, when I go to another AIR application page to install, it will prompt me with the same message... help?

Use Firefox. Have BBC iPlayer which will not load, saying I need a newer version of Adobe Air: when trying to instal Adobe Air, get message saying I already have a more recent version. It worked when I was using IE, but not since changing to Firefox.

stumbled on this conversation after having problems myself.
After lots of trial and error, I was finally able to install iPlayer on my MacBook Pro.
Firstly remove Adobe Air (Applications, Utilities, Adobe Air Uninstaller).
Reboot (not sure if it is needed but it is what I did).
Download Adobe Air 2.5 from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/853/cpsid_85304.html
Then retry installing iPlayer from the BBC webpage. I ignored the prompt from Adobe Air to upgrade to the latest version (3.1). -
How can I keep Adobe AIR app window in focus at all times?
Hi There,
I have an AIR application that displays HTML links that launch an external browser when clicked. When the browser is launched, the AIR application loses focus. Is there any code out that that will allow me to keep the AIR application ontop of all windows?

Adobe air app integration with mac help
Hi all,
I want to intergrate my help with adobe air app on mac(so that it should look like mac help). But i am not able to do so as we need to add entry in the file info.plist for doing it. Can anyone please guide me on this. I have downloaded several application but not able to find any application with help intergrated in it. Most of the sample apps don't have any help and the remaining apps send the link to their website for help.
Any suggestion/ guidance in this regard would be great

Can not update Adobe Reader as it did not come from Apple App Store.
Can not update Adobe Reader or Adobe Lightroom 5 as they did not come through Apple App Store. Note says I selected not to accept apps other than from Apple. Just started backing up new Iphone and Ipad to Macbook Pro. Is there a setting some where that would allow updates?
Yes there is a setting for that. Open system preferences go to the security & privacy sections, click the lock icon and type in your password. Then in the "Allow applications downloaded from: area tick Anywhere.
