Help. Cannot move or paste clips.

I could really use some help.
I made my first movie in iMovie HD from video camera clips. Once I had all the clips in the order I wanted I began downloading the movie to my camera. I realized I made a mistake, stopped the download and went back to move a couple of clips around. However, unlike before, I cannot copy or paste any clips. When I go to move a clip it just disappears. If I try to copy and paste I select "copy" but then "paste" is not available as an option. I have re-opened the file several times but no matter what I do I cannot edit anything other than deleting clips - which it will still let me do.
Any quick help would be greatly appreciated.

1. When moving clips, I find it's often best to show the clips in Clip Viewer mode instead of Timeline Viewer mode. Moving clips in Timeline Viewer mode is sometimes very tricky. Problems tend to fall into the category of Karl User Errors.
2. Check the disk format of the disk the project resides on. It must use the Mac OS Extended disk format.
It's unlikely, however, that those two are causing the problems you see. You should always be able to Copy and Paste clips.
Have you tried Copy/Paste on other projects saved on the same disk? How about with new clips added to this project?
I've never heard of a camera export leading to a problem like this. Perhaps the main project file — the project "map" inside the project — has become corrupt somehow. You might try using the backup of that project file that iMovie stores inside the project. Make a backup of your project by duplicating it in the Finder, then see this note for how to rescue the project using the backup project file:

Whatever you decide, please keep watch on how many days from date of purchase so that you do not lose any rights to 30 day money back from Adobe if you purchased from Adobe.
I had some thoughts for some areas to look into in your situation.
You have asked several time if you are using the correct project preset. I do not see that any one has responded to that question. I am assuming that your iPhone 5s is recording H.264.mov or.mp4 1920 x 1080 @ up to 30 progressive frames per second. The frame rate is probably up to 30, meaning variable frame rate. So, where is the 120 frames per second video coming from? I would manually set the project preset for
NTSC
DSLR
1080p
DSLR 1080p30@ 29.97

The use of video with variable frame rate has created all sorts of issues besides audio out of sync with Premiere Elements. It could be the iPhone 5S video that is creating the problems, but.... Have you taken the time to remove selectively and sequentially types of media from the tracks to determine if such removal would then allow you to place additional media from Project Assets to Timeline wherever you want?
If you implicate the iPhone 5S video in the issue, you could take it into a program such as HandBrake and change the file's variable to constant frame rate and export it from there as 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 progressive frames per second H.264.mp4 file. Then try it in your project.
The party line is that you cannot change the project preset once it has been set for a project. We can go into that later. By the way, if you start a new project, is the problem of placing source media where you want in the Timeline still there?

Cut and pasting clips to a new movie causes 15x file size increase!!

I'm using 6.04 iMovie. I'm converting 8mm analog video via Canopus 300 into imovie. These movies were of an action sport and very few clips are over ten minutes when imported.
I have 4 files(sourced from 4 tapes) from 22-28GB in imovie. I have edited these files, removing bad video, unwanted scenes and have added transitions and titles. The resulting files are each from 22-28Gb's in size.
I then went to make a highlight video by copying and pasting clips from two of the movies. The resulting highlight movie exceeds 160Gb's I have two more movies to past clips from!
I am aware of the "non-destructive" editing feature of Imovie. In the process of editing the individual movies and putting together the highlight movie I emptied trash frequently.
My questions:
1.) What is the best procedure to cut and paste clips from movies to make a highlight movie?
2.) What can i do with my highlight video to get the size back down to around 15 Gb's? (I've only used about 25% of each of the two first tapes in the highlight video)

iMovie moves clips to the trash that you have deleted.....if you are not using any part of that clip. If you are using any part of it, the parts you crop out, 'delete,' will be removed from your movie, but not put into trash and not removed from iMovie's project file. If you use 10 seconds of a 30 second clip, for example, but later decide that you really need to have more than the 10 seconds, say you need 15 seconds, all you have to do is go click on that 10 second clip in your movie and then go to 'Advanced' and select 'Revert clip to original' and iMovie will put back the entire clip for you to re-crop.
It is not exactly the same for still photos. If you are using still photos with the Ken Burns effect, emptying the trash will remove the photo's 'clip' and you will not be able to redo the KB effect if you decide to change it. Leaving the trash alone will permit iMovie to retrieve the photo so that you can make those edits. Some of us never empty the trash in iMovie.
When you export as Full quality Quick Time, you are getting just that.....Full Quality, no changes from the original. Your movie is not being compressed, it is shortened because you are saving only the clips that are actually used in the movie, not all the rest. Nothing is lost in quality and you can edit as usual, except for the ability to retrieve any clips that are not in the movie. You will not be able to use the 'Revert clip to original,' now because you have a new set of 'originals.'
So, when you export to quicktime, be sure that you are completely finished with the cropping of your clips and that you will not need to add anything that you previously deleted. I export to quicktime and then open a new iMovie and import the new qt movie into that. Once you see that it plays properly, you can delete the first iMovie and just work with this one. However, it will come in as one large clip, with audio and video incorporated into one track. You will not be able to re-edit titles and effects. (Well, you CAN do it a bit, but it is tricky and you will lose some footage).
I actually make a quicktime version of almost all of my iMovies. I find that this process eliminates any jerkiness or stuttering of my longer movies. I edit the original iMovie by cropping clips, adding photos, putting in titles and transitions. I then add audio last, usually first some short audio clips to go with some of the photos, and then I add background music last. I usually export to quicktime during the adding music part, whenever iMovie starts playing back in a stuttering way. The new quicktime movie is smooth and I can finish my music additions easily.
Apparently, the latest version of quicktime is much better for the jerkiness problem, but I have been hesitant to upgrade since I am in the midst of doing about 4 iMovies.

Cannot move original downloaded files into playlists - Please Help!!!

Got my ipod 5th installed it, connected it. It then automatically copied all my songs from My PC to the Ipod. But now they are not in playlists just in the root of the library. I then went in and created playlists from itunes and I cannot drop and drag. Al my songs are listed but when I drop and drag to the playlists nothing happens. I am able to copy music from my CD's into my newly created playlists but cannot move the originally first downloaded songs into playlists. Can anybody help me out, greatly appreciated. And yes I followed the directions for the ipod manual, did I miss something? Any help is appreciated.

FCP captures HDV in native format, which does not work in FCE. FCE only works with HDV in the Apple Intermediate Codec.

Cannot move past the passbook menu screen. [not an iTunes issue]

I have tried a million times but cannot get Passbook past the screen below. When I hit app store, I have no problem connecting to iTunes, although I know that was a major issue for many users. I recetnly received an email from a retailer offering a coupon that could be added to Passbook. Every time I got back to that email it says the coupon has been added to Passbook [see second picture] and every time I go to Passbook, all I see is the first picture. Nowhere to go except the App Stoe. Which is no help at all. Not even a "help" option. It's driving me completely mad. What a great idea and amazingly poor execution! Anyone have any idea what is going on?

In my (father's) case, inside the
Library/Mail/POP-username@serveraddress ,
there was a "folder" named "Deleted Messages". The icon was also a standard folder icon.
Just by renaming it to "Deleted Messages.mbox",
the icon was changed to a document tray icon,
and deleting messages started working.

This says that the maximum video size for an iPad is 1024x768 - your latest episode is 1280x720.
Slightly confusingly, it also says

which suggests that mp4 files are even more limited.

However when downloaded this produces a file called 'howtosetupappeid.mp4' so soe sort of redirect appears to be in place, and these can sometimes cause trouble. It's better to link directly to the file - it's possible that the iPad doesn't handle the redirect.
That's all I can suggest: if it still doesn't cover the problem I can only refer you to the iPad forum where someone may be able to actually try your podcast and offer a comment.

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

[SOLVED]Cannot copy/cut/paste files in Konqueror

Hi all, I am using KDE4.1.2 (official version). My konqueror cannot copy/cut/paste files in 'file manager' mode, the copy/cut/paste items in the right click menu are always faded out, and C-x/C-c/C-v hotkeys do not work either. However, it can read/write/rename/delete files normally. In fact, 'Move to' and 'Copy to' menu works too. Meanwhile, dolphin does not have this problem. I am a little confused.:mad:

I'm using kdemod, konqueror 4.1.4 in i686, and the paste is always greyed out (same happens with the button in the taskbar). The "copy" action seems to be enabled through ctrl-c and the right-click, but there is no way to say, because no paste can be done. Deleting files works, so it does not seem to be related to permissions.

I wonder if anyone is having this same issue? I thought this was solved in 4.1.3
