HELP! Cannot reinstall OS X - error on volume one drive

I'm having a problem:
My laptop froze in the middle of using Illustrator 8 and the error msg I received stated that "program cannot restart because it cannot find the AGM file". (I think this is a side issue though).
I restarted my system.
I opened Illustrator 8 again and the computer froze up again and I received the same msg as above.
I restarted my laptop and I got the flashing question mark.
I did a Hardware Test and it showed that my drives were fine.
I did a Utility Disk check. I tried to verify permissions and repair my disk and I got a msg saying "volume 1 cannot be verified. Volume 1 cannot be repaired. (-9997)" (My hard drive is not partitioned and I only have 1 drive and it's the original drive that came with the computer)
So, I erased my disk and tried to reinstall my Operating System. The installation quits when it gets to the Itunes portion of the install. The error msg says "there were errors installing the software" and it tells me to quit and try again. Each time I try, it's the same scenario.
Can ANYONE, please help me! Is this a bad hard drive or a permissions issue or software or what?
I've used Illustrator 8 on my laptop for 2 years with no problems. But there is one thing, I was using Kai's Power Tools at the time of this problem and I've never used that on this laptop before. Could that be it?
slduser
After reinstalling all my personal files, I used Illustrator 8 again and the computer froze up again and I received the same msg as above.
install software process stops in the middle of installing. My installation stopped at the iTunes part---- it just said "there were errors installing the software" and instructed me to quit.
We need to know what to do if this occurs and what could be the potential "error that it speaks of.
Could anyone respond to this at my email?
Thanx,
[email protected]

Siduster, welcome, try booting from the install CD again, but after you get to the install window the go up to the main menu and start Disk Utility. Select your HD and then choose Erase/Options/Erase all Data (this will take a while). Now do the Verify and Repair Disk, then Permissions. Now continue with the installation. I hope this helps, post back.

error in downloading one drive application from apple store

I've been having some problems with the OneDrive app - I'm able to download and use it but whenever I search for it on the Mac App Store it says it needs updating even though it never shows up in Software Updates.
You may need to update your version of OS X from 10.8 to 10.8.5 (if indeed you are running 10.8) -> http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1676 and http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1686.
If you are on 10.8.5 already, I've no idea why you're unable to download. Try rebooting and opening the Mac App Store application again and give it another go.

  • Help - "Cannot copy file: Data error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)"

    Hey there,
I'm having problems with my Zen Mosaic EZ00. Up until a few weeks ago it has been working fine however, since then, has begun to show the error message? "Cannot copy file: Data error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)" whenever I try to copy files on to it. I have tried the recovery software available and it only updated the firmware. Some files do occasionally (and very occasionally) copy but usually it shows the error message and cancels the copy.
I would really appreciate if anyone could help me with this?
    Many thanks :smileytongue:

  • I have a G5 running Leopard. Trouble starting. Hardware good. Cannot reinstall OS X. Error message 'Disc is damaged'

I have an old G5 that has been struggling at start up. Needed to reboot several times. Ran hardware check all OK. Attempted to reinstall the OS X and get error message ' Cannot install. disc is damaged' Disc looks good, no scratches.

That message refers to your hard drive, not the DVD!
You cannot perform repairs from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1782?viewlocale=en_US
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

  • I need help installing reinstalling Windows 8 from factory supplied flash drive please

I recently bought an Acer Aspire V5 laptop with Windows 8.  I installed Ubuntu to take advantage of a few applications I like, and then realized that two of the main business applications that I need would not run on Ubuntu (none of the Windows emulators
    would work).
Before I installed Ubuntu, I created a recovery image on a flash drive, but that failed when I tried to go back to Windows.  I ordered a new recovery flash drive from Acer, and I get the following error- restore failed- can not find image path:M:\recovery
    image\install.wim.
The acer support person advised me to use a third party application to format the hard drive, so I used gparted to complete the format.  I attempted to restore the disk again (using the exact instructions from this forum), and I get the same error.
While the flash drive is attempting to  restore the factory image, I do see that the recovery image drive M created, and the install.wim being applied.
Does anybody have any ideas how I can fix this issue?  Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
A recovery flash drive cannot function as a installation disc, thus I suggest you contact the Acer for the right process of restoring the image. Especially for the requirements for the restore condition.

  • Lost CS3 serial number and email I used from that purchase is no longer valid, now I cannot reinstall my CS5 after wiping my hard drive clean from a computer problem.

Bought CS3 about 7 years ago under an email address that's been closed for many years and I lost the serial number from that old CS3 and now after doing a clean wipe of my hard drive after some computer glitches, I can no longer install CS5 upgrade as I cannot produce the CS3 serial number. No monkey business, I've been using CS5 since 2011 when I bought it directly from Adobe. What are my options?

Is it possible for you to log in to your OLD Adobe account using that email address to check your history?
https://www.adobe.com/account.html for serial numbers or subscriptions on your Adobe page
If not, you MAY be able to have an employee look up the information linked to that old email address
Adobe contact information - http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html may help
-Select your product and what you need help with
-Click on the blue box "Still need help? Contact us"
If that doesn't work, you are going to have to buy new... either a subscription or Creative Suite 6

  • Disk Utility RAID of 2 volumes, one drive mistakenly erased. Recoverable?

    Thanks for any help.
    I have a Mac Pro.
It has 2x 750GB drive formatted in Disk Utility as a RAID volume (striped).
I erased one of the volumes by mistake.
I know I can recover the data from the erased drive, but it will be useless without the other drive. So how would I go about restoring the data in such a way that it is recognized as the other half of the RAID volume again?
    Thanks for any help.

    The commercial "SoftRAID" ($149) http://www.softraid.com
... is able to convert Apple RAID to its own format, AND has had excellent success for others in recovering in some situations.
They have excellent support so email them; a demo; and good PDF guides for download are worth a read.

Uninstalll error. Cannot reinstall. what happened here and how do I fix this?

No one can tell you anything about what happened until you give complete details.
Maybe someone could help you fix your issue.

Note that this is boilerplate text.
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),

Take a look at iTunes for Windows: "Error 7" message when opening iTunes. Perhaps your .NET Framework needs a repair.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • I cannot get i-tunes anymore. I tried the i-download. Still no help. I get an error message that reads  The file "itunes Library itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. What can I do?   tunes down load

I cannot get i-tunes. I tried the download, but no help. I get an error message The file "iTunes library itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. Any suggestions?

If you still have an issue you may have to see about using the iTunes version (application) included with Snow Leopard 10.6 from the installer or an another one if available online, and see if that will install.
Sometimes you may have uninstall the bits left in your system by the earlier (or later) iTunes installers; as they all leave a trace and these can stop a different version of iTunes from being installed.
Not sure if the following site/link will tell the method...
    •Apple - Support - iTunes - install & update:
