HELP cant get songs on the ipod

itunes says that the ipod has been updated but when i go to use it it flashes green/orange and doesnt make any noise.
  Windows XP Pro
  Windows XP Pro

That sounds about right.
Updating the software removes all songs.
Flashing O/G means, among other things, that there are no songs on the iPS to be played.
Not making noise when nothing is there would be a good thing.

  • I cant get songs onto the ipod nano

ok so ive had this thing since xmas and i had like 235 songs on it.
and it was a 2 gb, and with 235 songs, it was full.
so i thought, well maybe if i just delete some i can put new songs on.
i delete like 50 songs so i can put some on and i didnt know how to get it all back on the nano.
somehow, i accidentally deleted the playlist that had every song in my library from my ipod.
and now i dont have anything on the ipod.
i try and sync it all back on but it says this:
"Songs on the iPod "Matts iPod" cannot be updated because all of the the playlists selected for syncing no long exist"
so i try and make a new playlist, and it STILL wont sync.
oh and i went to "About" on my ipod when it was empty and it said i could have 1.7 GB but it said i only had 1 GB available.
can someone explain this to me?

Use the instructions in this article to add that playlist to the playlists set to be synchronized to the iPod, or change the iPod's synchronization mode.

  • I CANT GET SONGS ON MY IPOD! AAHH!

You know when you first download the itunes CD onto your computer, and there are steps that you have to go through to get the itunes working, well there is one step where the itunes like "checks through" the ipod... and theres an option to skip the step, so I did, and now I can't download any songs onto my ipod. Downloading onto itunes isfine, its just when i try to update my ipod, it says its doing it, but then all my songs are the same. What do I do? HELP!

First of all someran, when you repeatedly scream for help like you have been doing all afternoon, it tends to get you ignored in these forums. Please remember that we are all fellow users in these forums who volunteer our time to help other users. We have no obligation to answer anyone.
The first thing that you need to do, since iTunes seems to be working well, is restore your iPod. See the following link, if you do not know how to restore.

  • Getting songs off the ipod with 4.2?

How do you remove songs off of the ipod touch now?

    Manually manage?
If you manually manage, then you erase music manually the same way you always have.
Go under device tab>Ipod and delete them.

  • Can you get songs on the ipod without itunes?

    like you can on ipods?
use your own music on it to save you buying every song.

    like you can on ipods?
I think if you google "ipod without itunes" or "iphone without itunes" you'll get plenty of hits with interesting suggestions.
use your own music on it to save you buying every song.
Just because you use iTunes doesn't mean you have to buy every song from Apple's store. You can import your existing CDs or MP3s into iTunes without buying them again. You can use iTunes to manage your existing collection of music, and not buy any new music. (The vast majority of my music collection was ripped from CDs, not purchased from Apple's store.) Also iTunes has wonderful integration with free sources of audio content including podcasts, iTunes U, etc.
In my opinion, the main reason to get an iPod or iPhone is for the seamless integration with iTunes. If you decide you don't want to use iTunes, you probably are dealing with slightly more cumbersome music integration which is probably no better or no worse than any of the other MP3 players out there.
Reading between the lines of your original post, if you're concerned about getting locked into Apple's proprietary world when managing your music in iTunes, you consider using an industry standard format, like MP3, rather than Apple's proprietary file formats, such as AAC. Specifically, in iTunes, go to preferences, go to the "When you insert CD section", click on "Import Settings", and change from AAC to something like MP3. Not as efficient way of storing the music, but you're also not locked into Apple's file formats (and thus just Apple hardware/software). But if you expect to stay with iPods and similar Apple players, AAC is a fine format. But for those of us who play music on other players too (e.g. my TiVo), MP3 is a more flexible format.

  • Just bought an ipod. cant purchase songs on the ipod because its asking for secruity questions i have never set up.

    Ipod touch

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

When I hook my ipod up to my mac I used to get the Itunes has detected an ipod that appears to be corrupted error message. It would then sync all my song to the ipod but when I ejected it, none of the songs would be on the ipod. Now I hook it up and I get the Mac OS X can't repair the disk error message. Then the spinning colored pinwheel pops up and I can't use iTunes. Please HELP!!!!!!

Sounds like your iPod is broken. Take it to Apple or someone else who repairs iPods and see if you can get it fixed, or get it replaced.

I bought a new laptop and can access my itunes library but when i try to add purchased playlist songs to my ipod message appears asking if I'm ok with erasing all other songs on the ipod. How do I add purchased playlist to ipod without erasing existing ipod playlists?

wow ... I get a headache just trying to read what you just said. I went and read how to migrate my library and found that you can only migrate purchased media.
No, you can easily migrate your entire library from one working compter to another.
If you fail to backup or migrate your library and find yourself with nothing but a new empty computer and a device full of content iTunes is designed to only recover the iTunes purchased content, however third party tools can help recover everything if needed.

  • I cant get my videos on ipod touch that is direct hookup to my Kenwood Stereo/video player to play on the kenwood screen. is there a way to see it play on my Kenwood player

i cant get my videos on ipod touch that is direct hookup to my Kenwood Stereo DNX890HD to show the video. the audio plays but i cant see the video. Is there a way i can make the video show on my Kenwood DNX890HD player

Does your ipod touch have the lightning connector or the 30 pin connector.
Lightning connector does not transmit video because it is digital and the KW is analog.
You can buy a convoluted combination of splitters and converters to get around this but it will be expensive and a spaghetti of wiring.  If you do have a 30 pin connector, then details for proper setup are on page 106 of your English Manual.

    Try:
iTunes: Finding lost media and downloads
iTunes: How to re-create your iTunes library and playlists
    Next try:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Getting purchased songs to the iPod

Had my Alum PB's hard drive crash. It got repaired with AppleCare.
I used Senuti to transfer all the songs from the iPod to the laptop.
I then set iTunes to automatically update. I authorized the computer.
As it started to update, I was notified that the songs I had purchased could not be copied to the iPod as it wasn't authorized to do this. I also now see that these songs are not showing on my Purchased list. When checking for purchases, I get the response that all purchased songs have been downloaded.
How do I get these tunes on to my iPod? How do I get the songs to show on the Purchased list?
    Thanks,

Can you burn the purchased songs to a CDR? If so, do that, burn them to an audio CD then re-import them. This strips off the restrictions and protections rendering them like any other CD music you import. And then you can store the CDRs away as a backup of your purchase.

Get the following error when trying to sync itunes to Nano itunes could not coppy " Song"  to the ipod because unknown error occurred (-5000).  Any ideas?

Try my script FindTracks. Select a few of the missing files to start with then run the script. Choose No at the first prompt so that you can check how it works track by track, then confirm or edit the location of the media folder where your files are. Once you are happy with how it behaves let it process larger numbers of tracks automatically.

Maybe you have multiple accounts that's why your purchase history is empty. You can try checking for possible Apple IDs that's existing for you or you can ask for assistance from support.
