HELP!! cant install anything

I just got a new ipod and i cant install itunes 7. I can download it from the site but i cant install it on my emac. when i open the file it just has the contents folder. I also cant install anything i download from the internet.
Any suggestion?

Hi Tom,
Are you running Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X? If Mac OS X what version? You can find this out by clicking on the 'Apple' menu --> 'About this Mac'.
If you are running Mac OS 9 you wont be able to install iTunes 7 as it requires Mac OS X so you will either need to use another program to update your iPod or you will need to update to Mac OS X (which I would highly recommend).

Your OS is adequate, but you would benefit from upgrading to 10.3.9, which is the highest your machine natively supports. Any 10.3 will do, as you can update from there through Apple for free. However, you will need the OS install on CDs, as you don't have a DVD-ROM.
2. This is the real problem. Everytime i wna install something it wont work.For example, i downloaded flashplayer installation so i can install it. When it finished dowloading to my desktop i clicked on it to install it. When i did so, a window poped up and said that there is no default application specified to open this document. And then on the botom it says choose application. And i dont know wat application im supposed to choose to instal flashplayer. This hapapens to everything i want to install like limewire and shockwave. I cant install anything! So plz help me solve this problem.
Make sure you are downloading Mac programs (i.e.) no .exe files. Make sure the programs support your OS. As pointed out, you may be lacking the installer, which should be located in your Utilities folder.

Cant install anything from Adobe

On sep.11 i have updated Windows 7, installed new Java(update 40) and went to update flash which failed with this message.
When i try again i get "samo jedna instanca ove aplikacije može biti pokrenuta" or in eng. "Only one instance of this application can be launched".
I have thought it is some conflict with older version so i deinstalled flash and after all Adobe products from my PC. Now i dont have flash nor PDF reader. Same message pop out when i try to install anything from Adobe.
I have tryed reinstalling Java, installing without Java, resetting internet settings, enabling scripting in IE, disable Security Essential but without any luck.
Not an expert but i think it can be something malicious on my PC or older versions of program files that are causing this. I need help with this one.

Help cannot install anything, installer keeps crashing.

I have a G4 12inch powerbook 1.5 running the latest Tiger operating system. I cannot install anything that uses pkg, such as Safari beta or iWork 08 trial. I double click the pkg icon and nothing happens. When I go check console this is what I see.

Try these in order. Stop if one of them allows .pkg files to install:
- Run Disk Utility to check for errors. (Do not repair permissions when booted to the install disk.)
- Try dragging and dropping the .pkg file on to the actual Installer. You can find it in /Applications/Utilities.
- Insert your Tiger install disk into your computer. Open a Finder window showing the contents. On the install disk go into the Applications folder, then into the Utilities folder. Drag the Installer icon from the install disk into the /Applications/Utilities folder on your hard drive, telling it to replace the version there.
- Archive and Install, preserving Network and User settings

Please help cant install iTunes 7.7

i was using the previous version and just started off an update when prompted for iTunes 7.7, but the update then failed (sadly it didnt really give any info about the failure). I have tried downlaoding and installing manualy but still no joy the installation just fails and says i need to reinstall iTunes.
However....i cant uninstall it :o I have tried uninstalling through add>remove programs but it just gets so far then seems to roll back and iTunes is still there.
I tried doing a repair with the itunes 64 setup but that didnt seem to work either.
I have since uninstalled quick time and tried to uninstall iTunes but still stuck in the same situation of it refusing to uninstall.
Please help guys 'ANY' thoughts apreciated

Okay. Let's try uninstalling the existing version by other means.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Now launch Windows Installer CleanUp ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"), find any iTunes entries in the list of programs in CleanUp, select those entries, and click “remove”.
Next, we'll manually remove any leftover iTunes program files:
(1) Open Local Disk (C:) in Computer or whichever disk programs are installed on.
(2) Open the Program Files folder.
(3) Right-click the iTunes folder and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion.
Now restart the PC and try another install. Does it go through properly this time?

Installing help, cant install Adobe Reader/Acrobat Error 2402

Ive been using Adobe Reader for awhile now as many of you have however when i wasnt able to install the latest 1.104 update i wondered why.
Kept getting Error message 2402 Out of Memory.
So i tried deleting older versions of Reader as with much success was able to remove it from Control Panel with Microsoft FixIt, then with CCleaner program was able to remove from my Registery.
After a fresh reboot i went back to Adobe.com i tried installing ReaderX on both the latest versions of Firefox (main web browser) and Internet Explorer both not being able to finish the install due to Error 2402. I also tried a free trial of AcrobatX, same outcome as expected. I enjoy being able to view PDF files for both home use and college and without Reader it makes that difficult.
I also tried installing Version 9.5, same result
Any help is more than appriecated, im not too techie but i will try to provide any additional info i can

I cant install anything!?

i'm trying to download IPOD INSTALLER using the disc...when it gets to the "select a destination" part...there's nothing in the box to select...nothing shows up, usually the hard drive or some sort of icon should be there right? please help!

'Download'? or do you meant to say 'install' or 'upload to the iPod'?
If this is the disk that came with the iPod usually the version from software update is newer anyways (Assuming the computer is up to date)
If your trying to run it then is the iPod connected? perhaps that what is supposed to be in the box?
Hopefully some one that had the money to get and iPod and has one (Unlike me lol) will be able to help you further.
It might help if you could provide a few more details though.
What kind of iPod is it? and the details of what you're trying to do and have done so far.

Help cant play anything

I'Ve just stupidly upgraded to iTunes 7 and now I cant play any music in my library, there's just no response to the play command, even though it toggles from play to pause and back. Any ideas out there?

Have you tried repairing itunes 7? If you download it again, it will give you the option to repair (as i tried many times at the weekend!)
In the end i had to re-install itunes 6, obviously i lost my music from the library, however i saved my favourite songs in windows media and just imported them back....not ideal, but I got round it that way.......
Repairing may be no good, but it's worth a try......

Every time I attempt to download something, anything, it will not let me click the install button! It just literally stops at that step! I will try to click it but it does absolutely nothing.

How large is your hard drive and how much hard drive space do you have left?

HELP - cant install itunes in my pc windows xp pro

i can't install itunes on my laptop - i've got an administrator account, but the itunes software that came with my ipod doesn't complete installation - error msg: 1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime.
is there any other way or software to install... i just need to transfer files between my pc and ipod.

I'm on a late 2009 macbook pro laptop and i decided to upgrade to the new mountain lion update. I've paid and downloaded the files, but upon install i get this

This error isn't making a lot of sense to begin with. You hard drive HAS to be in the Mac OS Extended Journaled format for an OS to be installed so if it wasn't then you shouldn't be able to boot it up right now.
You don't say what OS you currently have on the MBP but you need to go to Disk Utility and see what format the HD and its volumes are in.
You can access it in 3 ways - open the Finder and go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility,
                                          - insert the disk that came with your Mac, reboot holding the C key, choose English as the language and then open Disk Utility from the Utilities menu along the top of the screen,
                                          - If you have Lion installed boot the Mac holding Command and R, choose English if prompted and then open Disk Utility.
You need to make sure the HD itself has the right Partition Map Scheme - GUID Partition Table. You also need to make sure that Macintosh HD is in the format listed in your screen shot.

Either update your virus definitions and scan your WHOLE PC or since (more likely) you don't have a virus program, download the free one at

i have Nokia 3120 Classic and Gigabyte 566n Laptop, Windows Xp Professional Sp3(Hebrew), Nokia Connectivity Cable Drivers installed.
the Nokia Pc Suite(the most updated - 7.1.40.1) was working in the past but now when im trying to sync things to my phone
i get message that its not finding the usb cable....
my usb cable is ok and my phone is ok...
but also its not letting me use the bluetooth.
also long time ago when i head the hebrew version of nokia it was not writed in hebrew i saw just squares ( [] ) like that.

To sync you need to connect the phone to iTunes and do it like there - there is no other way on a 3gs and also remember that a lot of apps will no longer be compatible with an iPhone 3gs - it is an old phone in technology terms now.
Time to buy a new phone!!

Windows xp pro x64 edition HELP -- Cant install Itunes

I have searched and can only find answeres that are 4 and 5 years old.
Can I download Itunes for this machine? If not, is there a program I can use that will allow me to play my ipod on this machine?

The answers from four or five years ago still apply. There is no version of iTunes that supports the 64-bit version of Windows XP and never will be. If you search this forum for "XP 64"or do a web search for something like "iTunes Windows XP 64", you'll find threads describing the process some people have used to "crowbar" iTunes onto XP 64, with varying levels of success, none of them complete.
As to alternatives, there are third-party utilities such as MediaMonkey, Ephpod, or Xplay for handling the transfer. I haven't used any of these, so I can't make any recommendations. These applications cannot connect to the iTunes Store, so you will not be able to purchase content from the Store. The applications may also may not work with the most recent iPods, so confirm compatbility with your iPod model.
