HELP CANT UPDATE NOR RESTORE MY IPHONE4 ON ITUNES..
as the title say i cant restore my iphone 4 on itunes.
it seems that the restore and check for update button are dissabled but i tried it on other iphone like 3g it works fine

I also have been having this problem consistantly. I run Mac OS 10.6.8, iTunes 10.5.1, and the only way I could find to get iTunes to upgrade my new iPhone4, was to do it from my laptop, which wiped out all my data. What a pain!!! But now I can't get it to take once I re-synch with my main computer- still will not upgrade.
I had this trouble repeatedly with my earlier 3GS at times and it was so damned frustrating.
Does anyone have any clue as to why this is happening?
I also tried all the help sections from Apple. like unplugging every GD USB device from my computer... and then trying to do the upgrade... no luck!
Hope someone comes up with a fix for this BUG!

I was wondering. I went to a computer shop where they update your iphone 4 (my iphone is still version 4.1) Im not trying to jailbreak my phone. I just want them to update it to the current 5.1.1 version of the IOS. But we always get the error. not eligible for the requested build. they even tried to restore my phone. and it they couldn't restore it. they even did the manual restore. where you hold down the power button and the home button and when you see the apple logo hold the home button some more. and still it didn't get wiped. My question is, when they backup my files using itunes. What files of mine are still in their computer? i know they have my photos and videos and my notes maybe even my messages. But how about my passwords on my email, itunes and others??
If the shop you went to can't manage to figure out (or at least google) such an elementary problem, then you need to find someone else to do business with.
Everything except your music and apps is included in the backup. -

The only way to solve this error is to edit the host file in your system. All you need to do is to add the following line at the end of the host file:
74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com -
I can't update nor download any apps in itunes. Prompted invalid password, upon checking the apple id was not mine. The id was [email protected] whic is not mine. Pls. Help how to get rid of this. Thank you.
try and delete the apps and re-add them

I just restored my iphone4 in iTunes ( after not syncing it for about three months) and it wiped all my texts and contacts and I think restored it to three months ago. It seems it erased all texts and recent contacts since three months. Any way of undoing this? thanks in advance, Greg
Only if you have a more recent backup with which to restore from - if you've only got the one from 3 months ago then you will be limited to what was on that.

Help cant update...Other didnt post question
Okay, Lets see if this one works. Sorry for the last post. I am trying to upgrade to the new I tunes on my PC. It downloads and everything but at the end says" file name "program file" has unrecognizable character.
I did move the I tunes file to my H drive since my cdrive is soooo small. I tunes works fine I just cant get it to update. When moved it and tried to update it said cannot find program file. so I created a program file and moved I tunes into it. now I get the message I said. I changed the name several times to see if I typed something wrong. It will not let me change the update location. Ios unable to update or restore on iphone4
My iphone 4 was updating ios 6 but error occured and alerted me to restore my phone. Now Itunes wont sync. Requesting help trouble shooting this error.
i downloaded the latest ios update 6.14 and connected my iphone to the laptop to update it,but it told me to restore it so i click on restore then after sometime it said that it cannot restore my phone and now i have a blank screen
what to do to get it going please? -

I am getting error message "device ineligible" when I try to restore or update my iphone using my MacBook pro. With other macbook pros I could do the update.

I updated my iphone and now its got nothing on its memory and now it says its version is 5.1.
Sounds like it was not allowed to finish the restore... restore the device from the last backup.

Ipod wont update or restore or load in itunes
Help - i have a 3rd generation 20gb ipod. It started going to a new song halfway through another song & i thought i'd let the battery run down. I've done that & i've come to my ipod & it's totally blank - there's no songs at all. When i try to connect it to itunes it just freezes. I've downloaded the new update but when i go to restore or update in one USB port it doesn't detect the ipod. In the other it says it's initializing but never does anything more. I've tried 2 different USB cables....no joy. I can't get it to detect it at all. Can anyone help me please? I can't find any related problems at all

Syntax
chkdsk [volume:][[Path] FileName] [/f] [/v] [/r] [/x] [/c] [/l[:size]]
Parameters
volume:
Specifies the drive letter (followed by a colon), mount point, or volume name.
[Path] FileName
Specifies the location and name of a file or set of files that you want chkdsk to check for fragmentation. You can use wildcard characters (that is, * and ?) to specify multiple files.
/f
Fixes errors on the disk. The disk must be locked. If chkdsk cannot lock the drive, a message appears that asks you if you want to check the drive the next time you restart the computer.
/v
Displays the name of each file in every directory as the disk is checked.
