HELP! Caps lock green light gone out?

The caps lock green light has gone out on my brand new keyboard (wireless) bought with my new iMac. It's now impossible to determine whether I'm using upper or lower case when typing passwords, and causing my HUGE problems. Searched for an answer for the last two hours but failed. Is it a faulty keyboard or have I pressed something to switch it off??????? Keyboard battery level is 95%, so not batteries to blame. I'm new to MACs

Similar problem. Noticed that the light was out. Battery level showed 100%. Removed and reinserted the batteries. Turned the keyboard back on. Now, caps lock light is again working.
Seem to be an intermittent problem.
Not nearly as annoying as the yellow tinge. Hope to get that fixed once Apple gets their act together. Quality seems to be slipping.

  • Caps lock green light not working after coke spill. Help!?

    Hello.
I accidentally spilled some coke on my brand new macbook pro! I can't believe how horrible this year has been for me so far. I rarely even drink coke! Anyway, I cleaned my macbook with some dry towels, then some laptop cleansing wipes and then I used a vacuum cleaner to get all the liquid out from underneath the keyboard. Everything's working fine. It's just that my keys are super sticky. Any help with that? I tried taking the keys off and cleaning them - no luck so far.
Then I realized that the backlights from some of the keys aren't as strong as the other ones.. Can I do something about it?
Also today I realized that the green light from the caps lock button isn't working properly. It lights up whenever it wants to and such. Help?
If I was to take my laptop to get it fixed, what would it all cost me? My macbook is barely a month old and I've already caused such a chaos.
Could anyone give me a decent answer to my questions? It would be very much appreciated!

I'll take it to a friend who's an IT tomorrow. If he says that I must take it to the repair facility then I definitely will. Also, it wasn't a dollar can of coke. I had a glass which I didn't even take next to my MBP. Then for a second to plug in my charger, I put it down next to it and that happened. It's not sloppy care. I take care of it more than I've taken care of anything. Spilling coke on it was my mistake and I hope it'll never happen again. I am facing the consequences. For anyone else who's in the same situation or is just interested- I'll let you know how this works out.

    Hi @Nush 2015 ,
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial Forums.
Even though this is a Commercial product, try performing a hard reset.
When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
Here is a link on computer does not start.
You could reset the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings.

Could be an early retirement problem.  There is no fixed lifespan for anything, as you know.   Find a friend with a keyboard and test that in your machine.  That will show if it is your keyboard or your computer.   We can progress from there.

  • Macbook Pro won't start, caps lock key light solid

After I turned off my MBP, I came back a few hours later and now it wont start. The screen stays black but, when I hit the power button the caps lock keys has a solid green light. It stays for a few seconds-1minute. What do i do?

  • Laptop Won't Boot. Caps Lock Button Light Blinking

I just bought a HP Pavilion DM4-2015dx laptop a few days ago.  Turning it on this morning, it won't boot and the Caps Lock light  is blinking.  I have searched the HP site and Google for a solution to the problem and have found nothing to tell me what the blinking light means or why it won't boot up.  Does anyone have an idea of what the blinking light on the Caps Button means?

My laptop HP pavilion Dv6 - 7132TX had a problem of blank screen and caps lock key blinking. I bought the laptop on 28th Apr 2012 and just before completing a year, I was facing a problem of computer inadvertently not booting. It used to show black screen with wifi LED red, power button LED glowing, and caps lock key LED blinking. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&docname=c01443366 On going to the above link, I tried to notice the number of blinks of caps lock key  LED.Found that the blink count was an endless loop of 2 LED blinks. On checking in the above link, found that 2 blinks meant the problem was BIOS corruption failure. LEDs blink 2 times BIOSBIOS corruption failure(as found in the table in the above link) So I went on and found another link to find the BIOS upgrade on the same page , where it read, Step 3: Find and download BIOS updates Then followed to the link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?swlinkmsg=100&cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c00042629&lc=en&product=4057208 to download the driver. Downloaded the BIOS latest driver and installed it. It gave the same problem while restarting the laptop which was required to complete the bios installation. Link for the BIOS installation: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp54501-55000/sp54629.exe However after several force shutdowns and reboots (since in my laptop the blank screen during bootup was inadvertent and random..) the installation could proceed and complete. After that voila.. Problem gone Hopefully it stays that way. Now next task on my mind is to fix the sleeping problem of my PC and the noise problem of the speakers. 1.Laptop does not sleep and goes into freeze mode with LEDS glowing and screen black.2.While the laptop speakers are on, they constantly make some background noise as if the speakers have a loose connection. However I got a clue that the problem is not with the connections but with the frequencies mismatch. Inherent problem of laptop architecture I suppose. However still wish to hear sounds clearly on my laptop. Had a good experience with HP with my earlier laptop from HP. However now things are changing I guess. Feel good that I could at least troubleshoot and save money. [Even gas is Rs. 84 per litre.] and more importantly time since I was working when I saw this problem and did not want to keep laptop powered on All the time just to avoid restart .

  • Caps Lock green led not working

    Hello,
When I first got this lovely new MacBook, I thought the caps lock key would not actneededivate with a gentle tap, but needed a firm push to get the green led to light up.
Now I notice that the caps lock is actually working fine with a gentle tap, but the green led does not light up no matter how hard I push on the key...
In summary, caps lock activates, but there is no way I can tell if it's on because the green light on the key NEVER lights up...
Before you ask, I have tried to restart...
    Anyone else having this problem?

Try resetting your PRAM and your SMC.

  • Caps lock led light

Hi, my computer is notebook PC 2000-227CL, my caps lock work, but the led light does not turn on now? How do I fix this?

    There is this Apple note
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3909
but if it does not come on at all, there is probably a problem with the keyboard.
If you have not already, you might try removing the batteries from the keyboard for a few minutes, then putting them back in.

  • Help with flashing green light on Express

I am trying to set up an airport express in my office to use with my a windows laptop and my iPhone. I had it working yesterday and took it home to set up a home profile on it. Everything was working fine in both places. Today when I plugged it in it went to a steady green for a second or two then amber while it booted as usual but then to a rapid flashing green. I tried everything I can think of including resets and it still does the same thing. It keeps flashing green and never appears in my network lists. Any ideas?

The rapid flashing green light has happened 3 times to me since I first set up my Airport Extreme in fall 2007. The problem is always fixed by unplugging the LAN cable that connects through my hardwire network to my Airport Express. If I plug the LAN cable back, the rapid green returns and I can't access the network. Unplug it, and voila, the network is back. (I only encounter the problem when I have unplugged the Extreme and plugged it back in - if I leave it alone it is fine).
I think the problem is a conflict in my Airport Express being set to act as a wireless bridge by my computer-tech friend, but I had it set up to be hardwired in the network so as to never lose my iTunes to hi-fi connection if there was a wireless problem. I've yet to sit down to resolve the Express issue; however, I suspect that if your case is similar, the Extreme is in conflict with another network device. If you can isolate it the network to just your Internet connection and Extreme, see if that solves it.
    Good luck.

  • Why do the three ethernet port green lights go out?

At random times my 802.11n (gigabit) AEBS seems to get very confused and I have to power cycle it. I noticed that one indication of things amiss is the fact that the 3 ethernet port status lights are out. Anyone know why that would happen?

I don't know, but I have the Airport Extreme with Gigabit ethernet, and I notice that the ethernet ports' lights go out whenever I make changes to the base station (ex. if I change port mappings). So after it reboots, that's when the lights go out. Everything seems to work fine after that though, even though the lights are out. The indicator light on the front is always on though.
Another member, Akislot, posted a similar problem in the following thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5748864
So we are not alone, but I wonder if this issue is normal. I have tried both the soft reset and hard reset, and I have also reinstalled the firmware to the latest version (7.2.1). The issue still persists, and power-cycling allows the ethernet lights to return. Sometimes attempting to change the port mappings allows the lights to return, but not always. Power-cycling always allows the lights to return.
I just bought this 2 days ago too, so it is brand new.
If I still cannot find information online today, I think I will contact AppleCare. Does anyone know anything about this? Please let us know if you do. Thanks so much!
    Cya!

  • Can anyone help with a Green Screen Walk Out with FLV

I have seen a number of sites that use an interactive video walking out over the website. I have final cut and can create an .flv with a green screen. The problem is I do not know how to create the player for the overlay. I think I may need CS3 but I was hoping someone might have a work around.
    Here is an example: www.thinkvacuums.com
I was able to take the source and put it into iweb as a test but I can't access the files to swap out my video.
If anyone knows how to do this with Iweb and not using CS3 please let me know.
    Thanks,

  • CAPS lock indicator bulb

My "CAPS lock" indicator light went out a couple of months ago and is driving me crazy.  It's a real problem when attempting to put in a password, especially with my bank.  After two tries the other day it locked me out (again) before I realized what I was doing wrong.   I have an HP Pavilion dv6833us Entertainment Notebook PC.  I just want to replace the little bulb in there.  Can I do it myself or do I have to bring it in for servicing somewhere?  Your advice would be appreciated.

I have read threads about the number lock flickering
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2588658&#2588658
perhaps it is just a small glitch. My number lock does the same when it is on screen save mode but goes away as soon as i power the screen. Not really bothers me.

  • Minor Keyboard Issue: Caps Lock and Num Lock indicator lights are wrong.

For a few hours, I have been having a small issue with my PowerBook G4 keyboard. The green indicator lights for Number Lock and Caps Lock are indicating incorrectly.
Thus, in order to be able to type lowercase, I must keep the Caps Lock key light on, which subtly annoys the **** out of me [Apple edited out "heck" ]. Num Lock is worse, because I can actually see it; it isn't usually covered by my left hand. Very distracting.
Rebooting did not resolve this issue. Neither did monkeying with the Keyboard system preferences. If I could just turn the lights off altogether that would be fine with me.
This is a recent 15-inch PowerBook G4 1.67 Ghz, with the dual-level dvd burner and (I believe) the internal keyboard is USB, now, instead of ADB as (I believe) many of the older ones had been, so many of those hacks like fkeys and Ucontrol and so on are not options (I believe).
    Any ideas? Thanks,
    Nick

I finally got it working again, I took the power out and the battery out while it was running. I made sure there were no USB/FireWire/PC-Card stuff connected when I did this. When it booted back up it was normal again.
I also figured it happened because I put in a kyocera EVDO pc card into the laptop while it was in sleep. When it woke back up it went nuts and had to be rebooted several times.

  • Caps Lock lights up but doesn't work in Mac OS (but does in Windows)

My Caps Lock button lights up but caps do not work in any Leopard programs. If I hold down the Shift key then caps will work.
However, I have Parallels and caps lock DOES work when running Windows.
I checked the Modifier Keys settings in keyboard preferences and they are set to the default.
I am new to Apple and have a Mac Book Pro that I bought in Spring 2008.
I searched the discussions but didn't see my situation...

Hi Steve, Welcome to apple discussions.
Hmm, that is a strange problem. Well, you've already done what I would suggest which is to go to the keyboard settings and click the "Restore defaults" button in the modifier keys window and try again. If that doesn't work then you can restart the computer and check. If that doesn't work you can try to reset the pram. Hold the optioncommand+PR buttons after you hear the startup chime, it should chime again, I let it chime a third time just for good measure and see if things look better.
If that fails then you can try making another account and seeing if the caps lock works in the new account. There might be some strange error on your account that would be corrected for in a new account. After that it gets more labor intensive. Do a system re-install, do an erase and install.
You might consider a trip to the apple genius bar there in Honolulu if can. The should be able to run through all that for you. You're still under warrantee so take advantage and get some help.
Oh, and just a disclaimer that I learned from Adam on the maccast podcast. Make a full, complete backup including a time machine and bootable (like superduper or carbon copy cloner) disk before you do any of the above or take the unit it for service.
    Hope this helps.
