Help!  certain sites not working.

let me start by saying, i know almost crap about computers. lol. the apple help desk referred me here.
ok, i go to open a page, usually a page for my daughter, like webkins or clubpenguin. i type in the web address, and when the page loads none of the "clickable" animated stuff is there. like it's just totally gone. can't log in, nothing to click on. the website help desk told me to unload then reload the flash player and/or shockwave (are those not the same thing?) which i did and nothing. no change at all. i can play regular video from like mlb.com, but not animated type stuff.
i am sorry to sound like a dolt. i don't know the proper terminology for this stuff and the apple dude wanted $50 to talk to me.
any ideas? please?

and then this link to reinstall it

then told me to clear the cache and restart my computer, which i did. didn't do anything.
then the guy from roadrunner told me to uninstall and then reinstall adobe shockwave. he walked me through the steps. then had me restart the computer. that didn't work either. then he told me to call apple, who sent me here.

    Probably nothing to do with your computer, but you could try flushing the DNS cache to see if that helps:
    1. Quit Safari.
    2. Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal.app) and paste
    dscacheutil -flushcache
    then press 'return'.
    3. Open Safari and test.

    got this problem for a few days now, so coming here to ask around =)
    I bought a 13" Macbook Pro in March, it's been doing good for these 2 months. My old network kind of broke and I changed the router and now I have a new network. However, Safari was not able to load some of the websites that I have been regularly visiting, such as Facebook and Twitter. I have Bootcamp installed and seems like the same websites cannot be loaded on Windows as well.
    I randomly visited other sites and they all work. Wikipedia, Hotmail, Yahoo, Youtube, Cracked, they all could work, just 2 or 3 websites have this problem. I would always get the message "Safari can’t open the page 'www.facebook.com' because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again."
    I went checking around and found out it was probably a problem with the network, since I disabled Wi-Fi on my iPhone and tried going into Facebook with 3G, and it works. The moment I enabled Wi-Fi, Facebook on the iPhone says "no Internet connection".
    The problem probably lies with this new network of mine. Anyone know what is the cause, and how do I solve this problem?

    I have the same problem after today update. Also, Transmisson program stops working. All port its trying to use are alwayse busy.

  • Some web sites not working in FF but they are OK in Safari.

    A couple of times lately I have had web sites not work correctly with Firefox. I need to switch to Safari to complete the tasks I needed to do. My FF is running on Mountain Lion and is up to date.

    Hello michaeljt, the sites you have problem, is it with a lot of flash content ?
    Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
    Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
    To clear cache and cookies do the following:
    #Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
    #Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
    #Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
    #From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
    #Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

    Please reload the webpage while bypassing the cache using '''one''' of the following steps:
    *Hold down the ''Shift'' key and click the ''Reload'' button with the left mouse key.

    As far as I can see Apple doesn't have to fix anything with Software Update because it is working perfectly for myself and the users I help to support.
    So maybe if you can give us more details; such as what error messages are you getting, what have you done so far to solve this problem.

  • 6630: Certain Keys Not Working

    For some reason, my Nokia 6630 has certain keys not working. Actually, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I doubt it's a cover problem, because even when I take it out, the keys still don't work.
    The "1", "3", "C", Left, and Up don't work at all, and it's annoying. Some help, please?

    The phone is too old and I think it has no FW upgrade in NSU.
    I guess this could be a hardware fault. Better if you go to service point.
    But before that have you tried a hard reset?*#7370#.
    [It will clean up the phone memory, so better back up by PC Suit).

  • Help viewer does not work after update to 10.4.4

    Since updating to 10.4.4 my Help viewer does not work, and all of the troubleshooting fixes suggested in other threads have not had any success in resolving this. I've noted that when I go to Users>Library>Documentation>Help there is no mac.help file - can someone tell me if that means that I've lost the file altogether and need to reinstall it? I get to the first screen of the viewer, but the links from there don't work. Thanks for any help that you can provide!

    Thanks for your suggestion. I downloaded OnyX and ran the cleaning function. After restarting, I opened Help and once again the first screen appeared fine. But again most of the links did not work, though those under the "What's New" heading did work. I might add that I had previously tried a variety of suggestions posted in another thread, which included deleting from the caches folder in Home>Library several files such as com.apple.helpui and help.plist in the Preferences folder. (As noted in my previous post this evening, I also created another user but that also did not have any effect.) Any other ideas? Thanks

    I am working on BO XI R2 environment and help button is not working properly in my infoview.
    I can get help files from Admin console but the same is not true with infoview.I got two different server installations, one of them its working fine but not for the other.
    I checked for help files in IIS and they are there , even I verified web.config file as well for infoview and it also seems to be correct.
    Please advice what could be the reason.

      This kind of problem is known when webgui is being started from an IAC, e.g. HRWPC_FC_EXEC
    You have to set parameter ~webgui_popups 1 in the service file of this IAC.

    As suggested in another discussion i tried to update link in Admin>Application setting and restarted weblogic, But system is still taking some other link than i defined in application setting.

    We worked on this issue ,
    Solution:
    In the P6 EPPM Admin application in the corresponding configuration, In P6 Help url we have modified the url from  http://hostname:8203/p6help/help to http://hostname:8203/p6help/ and we restarted the P6 server in weblogic console.

    Ok.
    It sounds as if something is keeping the key pressed, and that can be down to 2 reasons.
    The phone has got wet and the internal key is corroded and fused, making a constant connection
    or
    Dust or dirt in under that key and are having the same affect
    Either one of these reasons will need to be fixed at a Nokia Care Point as it will involve taking the phone apart.
    You can find the nearest NCP to you at the Store Locator
    Use the drop down list on the right to find your country.
    If it is either of these faults, the NCP will probably charge you as it wont be a warranty fault, but a customer created fault.

    After uninstalling flash player, I can't get the web site to reinstall it. I go to the web site click the agree and install now and gos to the next page but nothing pops up like it said it should.

    My OS is windows 7 Ultimate. There no Service packs listed Microsoft don't have one for it yet. My brower is Internet explorer 8 version: 8.0.7600.16385. My firewall is not causeing problems and the popup blocker didn't even activate.
