HELP!! Cisco RV180 Port Forwarding
Someone please advise as to this is the first time I've tried to setup port forwarding using the Cisco RV180 Router. I have a Cisco RV180 Router, a Ruckus 7055 access point and a power distribution unit. I'd like to be able to access the router remotely and also the devices behind the router (the ruckus access point and the power distribution unit). I'm assuming that I'll need to assign the Cisco RV180 router a static IP address and I'm assuing that this static address should be assigned to the WAN port? I'd also like to configure port forwarding so that I can access the ruckus and the PDU remotely also. I've tried assigning a static IP address to the WAN port of the RV180 but I cannot ping this device remotely. Anyone have any advice on accessing the RV180 remotely? I've populated all of the correct fields for the WAN settings (ip, gateway, subnet, etc.) , and my static ip address is valid.Thank you in advance.
Hello sirflex,
As you have mentioned you need to configure a static nat for the devices which you have done when you configure a port forwarding.
Have you configured access rules under firewall>access Rules. Add the access rules for the ping and the Http and Https services.
Can you capture the packets at the WAN port while you are pinging the WAN port and the firmware version on the device.
Which mode are you running the device gateway or router. You can check it under Netwroking>Routing>Routing Mode.
Thanks,
Prithvi

I wanted to forward a range of ports on a RV180, so I created a service for them, but when I go to the port forwarding page, it seems you have to enter an internal port number, which is a problem, because with a range you don't know what the incoming port was, and also you can't enter a range in the internal port field anyway. In the online help it mentions an option for this:
Forward to Port: Select Same as incoming port if the traffic
should be forwarded to the same port as of the incoming traffic or Specify
Port if the incoming traffic should be sent to one particular port.
Port Number: The port to which incoming traffic should be directed in
case specify port option is chosen.
But this option does not exist in the interface. There is only the internal port field. Surely this is an omission? If you can't forward a port range within a service you create, what's the point of allowing you to create it in the first place?Hi Matthew,
With RV180 we can have port range forwarding to the LAN. (tested and working)
Please follow this steps :
1. Under Firewall --> Advanced Setting --> Custom Services
2. Add the range of port and choose the Protocol Type (please if you have already single port forwarding in the range port please remove them)
3. Under Firewall --> Access Rules --> add the following rules
4. From WAN to LAN, Action : Always allow, Service : your service, Source:Any, Dnat: Private Server IP, Status : Enable, SAVE
--> Now if we want to check you can go to port forwarding we will see the rule added automatically and in the internal port is EMPTY --> please don't edit the rule of port forwarding otherwhise the router will expect to put the internal address
--> If we want to test (if you have the Router in test envirement and you don't have the server connected in the local) please follow this steps to confirm our configuration
0. Please install wireshark (Packet sniffer)
1. Under Administration --> Diagnostics --> Packet Capture
2. Select LAN and start to capture the traffic
3. From Client outside try to access to access with public IP with different port already configured for Access rule (from the browser publicip:port)
4. Stop the packet captures and downloaded
5. Open it with Wireshark and filter by "tcp.port==xx" you will there is the request coming to the LAN it means the firewall allow those port (xx:port number)
Here is a screenshots from my test : (I redirect range of port 70-80 TCP) to internal IP 192.168.1.100

Please Help - Only Some Port Forwards Working
Hi all,
I have the most annoying issue with a Cisco 887VA-K9 port forwarding. Some port work while other don’t and I just can’t see why, however I suspect it is a zone based firewall (ZBF) issue.
Port forwards on the follow ports all work fine:
External port 8021 to 192.168.4.253 on port 80 works
External port 8022 to 192.168.4.253 on port 8022 works
All the rest don’t. I also have SIP phones sitting outside the LAN which are unable to register through the internet with the PBX unit which is in the DMZ network 192.168.4..0
Any help would be great appreciated as this sending me mad. Fully running config below.
Louise ;-)

He replaced part of the ONT and it fixed the problem (finally!). At least I was able to watch the Celtics game last night.
I have a Tellabs ONT. Not sure the model but it's older like the ones in this thread.

Help setting up port forwarding for Ekiga
Hi
I am trying to set up Ekiga on my Arch X86_64 box but I can't get port forwarding to work on the Thomson TG585v7 wireless router, which I am sharing with a neighbor. I have tried some how-to's I found via Google and set up Application/Game Sharing for the ports Ekiga uses. I also set up static IP connection as it seems to be needed by the router for port forwarding to work but Ekiga still reports that it cannot set up my network connection and asks me to set up port forwading manually, which I have already done.
I would very much appreciate any help to get Ekiga going for me.
My thanks in advance.graysky wrote:No idea for you specific hardware but should be pretty trivial. http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Enable_ … g_manually
Thanks, but the problem is that setting up the router doesn't seem to work. I checked and repeated the set up a few times but no result. I feel I am missing a little detail somewhere but can't put my finger on it :-( -

Help please, with port forwarding settings
I have an MSI RG60 wireless router (Ethernet hard wired to my XP Home PC) and don't know what settings to use for port forwarding, to enable my WinMX and BitTorrent clients to work successfully.
I have the port numbers, and assume that this information goes in the Service Port box, i.e. 6699, or 6881-6889.
I know which ports are TCP and which are UDP, but I don't know what IP address to enter or which Common Service Port type to choose. Can anyone help please?
I'm pretty sure that other settings in my PC are OK as I have successfully been running a Belkin router for a couple of years, and have only replaced it with the new MSI unit due to reliability problems. It does indeed have port triggering, but it wants incoming and trigger port protocol info, along with trigger and incoming port numbers.
How can I type ipconfig into either of teh clients...WinMx or Bit Torrent? -
Help needed please (Port forwarding/Firewall Question)
So im hooked up thru my router so if I want to play a game I have to port forward so im told.
Ok, I im at my port forwarding menu and its asking for the following info...some of this info I know and some I have no idea what it means or where I can get it from. Heres the parts im asked to enter that I have no idea what to enter......
Source IP Address:
Destination IP Address
Source Netmask:
Destination Port Map
Where do I find out these things!?...Im a COMPLETE novice when it comes to routers and im so confused.Hello,
Unfortunately, that information is going to have to come from the people who are providing you the online game.
The settings you need are going to depend on what their program requires, and how they communicate with your computer.
All of this is different for each service you are trying to use.
Here are some articles to get you familiarized with the concept though:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_forwarding
http://forums.furthurnet.org/viewtopic.php?p=3821
http://www.boutell.com/newfaq/creating/forwardports.html
http://panasonic.co.jp/pcc/products/en/netwkcam/technic/port_fwrd.html
http://p2p.weblogsinc.com/2005/04/24/how-to-configure-your-router-to-allow-fast- bittorrent-downloads/
While they all discuss doing it with different routers, the principals and ideas are the same.
But, the actual configuration is going to depend on the specific needs of the service you are trying to use (the particular online game).
I hope this helps. -

PLEASE HELP!! port forwarding issues!
hello guys,
this is driving me absolutely crazy, i have read every forum out there and possibly watched every video and simply cant see what i'm doing wrong!
i want to open the following ports to allow my DVR system for cameras to work:
9000
80
60000
37777
i have followed all of the steps necessary but when i checked using a port checker tool, it said the ports are still closed?!?!?!?!?
i read on a youtube video that the ports stay closed due to some sort of a security measure?
speaking to customer services was no help either, the guy had no idea about what port forwarding is!this link may be of some help http://forumhelp.dyndns.info/networking/portforward.html

I need help changing settings (port forward?) after a physical server move
Hi! I have a 10.6 server that I use at home. All is well and good there. The Airport Extreme assigns IP addresses for the network. I have www.mydomain.com that runs on the server -- I use it for testing web apps, etc. I use DynDNS with their client app that send the Comcast dynamic IP address back to DynDNS to keep the server on the grid.
My friend has a 10.6 server. He has www.hisdomain.com as a home business. He also uses DynDNS in a similar way. His landlord just informed him that his apartment is going to be sold from underneath him and he has to move ASAP. It looks like he won't have a permanent place for a month or two, so I offered to let him keep his server at my place.
We both run websites on port 443 and port 80.
After attaching his server to my network, his domain name updates, but typing www.hisdomain.com into a browser lands me on www.mydomain.com. I guess that the problem is port forwarding... the router sends all 443 and 80 requests to my server.
How do I configure this so that services for hisdomain.com are forwarded to his server while services for mydomain.com are forwarded to my server?Short answer: you can't, although there are a couple of ways to sort-of kluge it.
Long answer: When your router gets an incoming connection, the only thing it has to go on is the IP address and port number (the domain name is sent much later, after TCP session with the server is established). So unless you have multiple public IP addresses (and a router that can handle them), or want to put the sites on different ports...
Speaking of which, here's kluge #1: run his server on different ports (e.g. 81 and 444, or maybe 8080 and 8043) and set the router to forward them to his server. Problem: the user has to include the port number in the URL when they connect, or they'll get your server.
Partial solution (and kluge #2): add a virtual site on your server, with the hostname www.hisdomain.com, go to its Aliases section, and add a rule in the URL Aliases & Redirects section, with these settings:
Type: RedirectMatch
Pattern: (.*)$
Path: http://www.hisdomain.com:81$1
Then build an SSL version that redirects to https://www.hisdomain.com:444$1. Problem: when the client connects, they'll get your SSL certificate instead of his (again, it happens before the client sends the domain name it's trying to reach), and get a cert error. No fix for this.
Kluge #3: instead of making the virtual site redirect clients to his server, add a reverse proxy so your server'll transparently forward requests to his server, and proxy the replies. I haven't done this, but I think what you need to do is make a virtual site (as above), and under its Proxy tab (the one under the virtual site, not the one under the Settings section), check the Enable Reverse Proxy box, leave the Proxy Path as "/" and the Sticky Session Identifier field blank, and add a Balancer member with the Server URL "http://hisinternalipaddress" and a blank Route. Or something like that. Again, you could do the same for https as well, but you'll have the same certificate problem. -
Help me with port forwarding please?
Hello all.
I have a Cisco 1605r connected to a cable modem to share my internet connection. I am trying to play a flight sim that requires me to forward 2 udp ports (2934 and 2935) to the PC that I am playing the game on. I tried to add what I thought was the right configuration change but, its still not working. If any of you could review my config and the output from "sh ip nat translations" to help me fix this, I would really appreciate it.
Thank You, Chris

ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.1.101 6881 interface Ethernet0 6881 extendable
Bcos you are mapping different port to same inside ip addresses.
If it works let me know

Cisco 878 port forwarding not working
I've configged ports to map for smtp, http, ftp, pop3 and https.
When telnetting to the router and checking on the router with show ip nat translation, the correct mappings are made.
The telnet session with the machine behind the router is not established however.
Telnetting from the router to the same machine on the correct ports does work.
At first I thought it was a config error, but the ip nat config is working fine on other routers.
I then put the config on a new 878, thinking some hardware problem. That didn't help, so I'm back at thinking it's a config error.
See attached file for logging and ip nat output as well as config.
Many thanks in advance.
WouterNo, the ranges are not the same. That is, they share the same B-class stats, but no C-class.
Incidentally, the extendable parameter is present in this ios version. When I change the parameter interface dialer0 to the ip address associated with the interface, extendable is addedd automatically. No joy however.
Today I'm going to try and downgrade the ios, another router with 12.4(4)T1 does have functional port mappings.... -

Help with port forwarding to application
Help needed to Port Forward on to my PS3.
I need to forward the following ports:
UDP: 3074; 3659; 6000
TCP: 80; 443; 3659; 10000 - 10099; 42127
Have previously given the PS3 a static IP, set the port forwarding rules and then forwarded to the IP address, but it appears the ports have not opened as expected.
Help KeithI can only see one image which just shows the application mapping, but no indication as to whether you had clicked the "apply" button.
Why are you forwarding ports 80 and 443, are you running a webserver on the PS3, as those ports are used for web serving.
As a matter of interest, your port 80 is showing as open at the moment, so is the PS3 turned on, or is port 80 mapped to something else instead?
What I would like you to do is to start from the beginning, with just the single TCP port number 3659 assigned to the PS3.
It will mean removing the other assignments, but it will make things a bit easier.
If you could do that please, and then we can do some tests.

Urgent help with Port Forwarding?
Hi all!
I hope my posting in the right section.
Basically I have a DVR in my home. I want to be able to view the 1 camera that I have externally (from a different home)
I have managed to be able to view the camera internally on my network (the dvr is plugged into the BT HUB 3)
I did this by Advanced Settings>Port Forwarding>Supported Apps>
I was told by the Manifacturer of the DVR that the ports i needed to forward are 8234 to 8239
Does this look correct to you guys?
The DVR i have a is a Digital Sprite 2 PLUS. Ive turned the firewall off on the router settings as I thought that could be the problem. I can view the dvr internally as I said above using the DVR i.p 192.168.1.69 perfectly, but when I type in my external i.p via my other home it wont connect at all.
Could anybody help me as to what im doing wrong?
Thanks for any replys !
