Help...clips not in viewer
I have been working on a training project for a while. Last night things seemed to be fine as they have been for the couple of months I have been doing this. Today when I open the project and events, the clips from certain events are not showing up in the viewer. I can see the thumbs of all of the clips. But when I play an event I can only hear the audio, there is no video. And when I play the project, it is the same thing. When it get to sections in the project where I used those specific clips, all I get is a black screen but I can hear the audio. I have tried restarting with no luck. All of the files appear to be in the correct location during the finder. I need some help...big time. Either that or someone tell me how I would link the files in finder so I don't have to cut up all these clips again.
umm its not dragging!@ the clips are still there and they are fine but dragging is not working!

For some reasons, my clips in final cut following a transition will not show up and instead just are viewed as black.
What's the first clip? A graphic? What transition has this problem, or all of them?

Hi melbernai - not sure if you've solved this problem yet. I had the exact same problem recently with my 2nd Gen iPod Nano. I solved it yesterday by simply updating iTunes to the most recent version, after which I could get rid of the register screen. The only other thing I needed to do to add my custom playlists was select "Manually manage music" on the screen for my iPod, since it had been in an automatic synching mode since the problem occurred.

Search help does not work when view context is mapped to comp context
Hello,
I am trying to display search help for an input field of a view. The context to which the input field is bound is a node with an attribute. I have specified Dictionary Search help for the attribute. Now when I execute the application, I am able to get the search help in the screen.
But, I need to map this view context node to its comp controller context. When I do the mapping, the search help does not appear when executed.
It would be a great help if someone can point out an answer to this.

Follow these steps:
1.Delete the context node/attribute which is bound to search help from the View.
2.Now Save metadata.
3.Perform Context mapping again .In the Edit Context Mapping window drag the node/attribute FROM RIGHT PANE TO LEFT PANE and select the entry.
4.Delete the Input Field from the view.
5.Save again
6.Close NWDS and reopen it.
7.Create input field again and bind it to the context element.
Hope this solves the problem.

I am attempting to use Clip Notes to stream for the first time. It seems that I have all of my server setting correct because there is a a test4.wmv file appearing on my server. But, when I open the the pdf I am getting a connection error. Any sugguestions?

I have AE CS3 on an Intel 8. Would like to use Clip Notes for low-rez approvals, but when I render a Quicktime movie in 3 x 4 aspect ratio (like most video) when I open the pdf in Acrobat Reader 8.1.2, it stretches it to 16 x 9. Checked all the preferences and view options and can't find anything to change it. Searched through the render options in AE, and can't find anything in there either. Tried the NTSC presets, tried using Stretch, nothing makes any difference.
Also, the audio sounds very bad. I've seen demos of Clip Notes that looked great, but demos usually do.
Please help. I'd like to use this potentially great feature.
RDSorry, that was a typo. Since then I've done more tests. The default size ClipNotes wants for regular video is 640 x 480. But when I render it that way in AE-CS3, and open the PDF in Acrobat 8.1.2, it gets stretched to widescreen. There seems to be no way to control this. So then I go back, nest the 640 x 480 in a comp that is 854 x 480, which is the default size ClipNotes specifies, and render it with black pillars on the sides. When I open this PDF, it looks correct and not stretched. I can live with the black pillars until they fix this.
BUT, the fatal flaw is, the audio. It sounds terrible, like the music is doing a constant phase-shifter effect. I tried it at 48 and 44 kHz, and made sure the settings matched in the output module and the ClipNotes audio settings, and it made no difference.
Thanks for your thoughts on this, but do people from Adobe ever read these posts? I have read several posts about this audio problem here and on Creative Cow. I hope they fix it or tell me what to do soon. Try it with a clip that has music, and you will immediately see what I am talking about. -
PPCS4.1/4.2 / Adobe Clip Notes - QuickTime All Screwed Up
Ok, so I am trying to create an Adobe Clip Notes for a client to review. I've done this with CS3 in the past just fine.
My project is a P2 DVCPROHD 720p project, and when I export, I choose Adobe Clip Notes, and the "NTSC Widescreen Source to 1024kbps" preset. All I changed was setting the video option to "Stream", set the URL, and entered my e-mail address.
The preset shows that the video should be 854x480 pixels, but the rendered file is an 1139x480 pixel video. The image looks right but there are just giant black bars on the left and right of my video, not to mention the encoding looks like crap due to the wasted encoding space.
Mathmatically, this seems like a pixel aspect issue, where it is multiplying 854pixels by a 1.333 aspect... but there are no options for this in the Export settings.
I've tried changing the resolution and it seems that the numbers always keep the aspect even if the "link" button is off.

Any why the heck can't I use my Flash Media Server with Adobe Clip Notes? Doesn't it make more sense for Adobe to implement it's own product first?Nope, just an Adobe made P2 DVCPRO HD 720p preset. The pixel aspect is 1.333.
I did get a 4x3 aspect once, and I had to leave the video set to embedded for that to work. Then I duplicated the export in AME, and changed only the video to stream and set a URL, and it was back to the crazy black bars on the sides. Trouble with the embedded is that I can't view the properties of the video.
I even created a NEW Adobe sequence and put only a graphic in it and it did the same thing. I then created a custom sequence that used square pixels and it did the same thing.
I gave up. I'm just going to have to forego Clip Notes and submit this to my Flash Media Server. I've spent too much time trying to figure this out when it should work out of the box. There seems to me more broke by moving the exporting to the new Adobe Media Encoder than keeping it in Premiere as with CS3.
Maybe I'll fiddle with it later, but for now I am on a deadline. -

I dont think that a field can be disabled and allows to choose data using f4 simultaneously. you can enable the field and allow the user to select whatever he/she wants.
Then in any action like on press of save or submit button which the user will trigger after entering the values, get the value entered by the user in that perticular field and fire a query on the table/view, which you have used as selection method of your search help, it help is coming from data element then look for check table in domain. if sy-subrc comes 0 than go ahead else give error that value selected is modified.

Is there a way to make an audio clip not cover the whole project in iMovie? I want to add audio clip or song and let it start at a certain point in the project. Whenever I add audio or song it covers the whole project. I'm working with iMovie on IPad!

First the link is a tutorial for iMovie on a Mac. I'm using iMovie on iPad so the steps are inapplicable.
Second it is only possible for me to manipulate the end part of the sound clip to whichever duration I want. But I can't do the same with the 'beginning' of the sound clip.
I simply want to place some photos in the beginning of my video with no sound in the background then after like 2 secs I want to start the music clip. For some reason that is not possible! Cause every time I drop the music clip unto my project timeline it automatically place it self along with the first frame in the project! And consequently the photos and music are forced to start together.

Adobe Clip Notes in Acrobat Reader Not Working
I am having an issue with acrobat reader not processing the clip notes correctly. In Acrobat Reader 9.1 the clip notes do not process and save with the time line. All notes are placed in one box and are not saved intividually with the time line code. The export option button is there but does not work. This is happening not only for my customer but for me as well using a computer with only Acrobat Reader installed.. (9.1)
So there seems to be an issue with Acrobat Reader and clip notes... It works fine on my system with Acrobat Pro installed but from my understaning, it should work with Acrobat Reader as well..
Any help would be appreciated.. I lost my connection to support.. I was on the phone and it went dead and no one has called back yet..
I am using all CS4 producst (Master Collection) So this is being exported to .pdf by Premier Pro CS4I am having this problem with a slew of users as well. I have followed all of the steps in Adobe KB article 405461 and while one solution in this resolve the problem (using reader as a helper program instead of opening PDF files directly within the browser) with the error message it caused problems with other web applications that we use. Has anyone else figured out how to get Adobe reader to work within IE? I have to think there was something included in the last batch of Windows Updates because it was working fine prior to that.

I've used Clip Notes before with small, embedded files, but this is my first time with a large video that I want to stream on a server. Maybe someone can answer a few questions:
Where do I name the movie file? The export dialog only has a place to name the PDF.
How does the URL setting work? The documentation simply says "This is where your video file is located" but that puts the cart before the horse. How can I specify the name and location of a movie that hasn't been created yet and for which I have no control over the name? The FTP feature works great, but it's for upload only, not for naming.
After exporting the movie and PDF, is there a way to re-generate the PDF w/o having to re-export the movie? I realized I wanted to make some changes to the PDF only (like instructions and URL), and exporting another movie will take time that isn't necessary.
I learned here earlier that only the QuickTime option will provide player controls. But a big .mov requres a streaming server, which I don't have. The .wmv option has the opposite problem. The name you assign to the PDF is also assigned to the exported movie file, regardless of whether you use QT or WMV. So, if you set the name of the PDF in the Export Settings to "clipnotes.pdf", the video will be either "clipnotes.mov" or "clipnotes.wmv", depending on the format you've chosen.

See above. Since you now know what the filename will be, you just have to decide where the file will reside on your server, and input this into URL field. Using our example from above, you'd use enter something like "http://www.mysite.com/upload/clipnotes.mov". It's a full URL, with the "http://" needed; just change the pertinent details.

Maybe, though I haven't tested this:
Trash the original PDF file.
Temporarily rename your originally-exported movie file, or move it to a different folder so that it's not overwritten.
Set your export range to one frame, using the same settings and same name that you did for your first export, and restart the export.
Throw away the new movie file, and rename the original or move it back to it's original folder. Since the only connection the PDF has to the movie file is the URL and filename, this should work.
I learned here earlier that only the QuickTime option will provide player controls. But a big .mov requres a streaming server, which I don't have. The .wmv option has the opposite problem. Does anyone know of a workaround (or other method entirely) that will use Flash video? FLV or F4V will do progressive downloading with small file sizes for online viewing.
I don't think you need a streaming server; I've tested QuickTime off a regular ol' HTTP server and it works fine. Incidentally, I should add, QuickTime streaming WASN'T working for me previously, at all. I just tried it out, and it would seem that a recent update to Adobe Reader might have fixed the issue. Streaming WMV always worked fine. Curious.
As far as Flash: are you talking about using Flash Video in ClipNotes, or just Flash Video viewing online, in general? At this time, ClipNotes is QuickTime or WMV only, but I wouldn't be suprised if Flash Video makes an appearance in ClipNotes CS5, given the whole focus on Flash in the Adobe ecosystem. If you're talking about general FLV playback, check out the JW FLV Media Player; it's an fairly simple-to-configure Flash Video player that can be embedded into a webpage. -
Clip Notes doens't work in Reader 9??
I read online that Clip Notes doesn't work with Reader 9?! Maybe that's why I and my clients have been having problems as of late with Clip Notes?
So I found an Adobe link for Reader 8.12 and tried to download it but it defaults to downloading 9. This really sucks Adobe. I'm not upgrading until the new year. What exactly am I supposed to do now? This is part of our workflow and now it doesn't exactly flow.
Btw- I'm on Mac, OSX 10.5.5, CS3. I'm dual booting and on the Windows side with Reader 9, can't view a clip notes PDF. On the Mac side, I can open the ClipNotes pdf and see and hear video but the timecode is screwed up and get an error message that "you can't save this form", etc.I agree with Jim as to the bottom line for CS3 current workflow/workarounds. My understanding is that the issue is indeed with CS3. Reader 9 closed certain security holes, which is why it no longer plays Clip Notes files. CS3 would have to be updated to create files that are compatible. But like I said, that's not likely to ever happen.
When the same company (Adobe reader/Adobe Premiere/clipnotes) makes changes in one area that break an important/promoted feature in another product, they should fix the broken product. CS3 should have kept its promised functionality in the supported operating systems.
