HELP! configuring BIOS...

OK... I'd like to know how to set up my pc for it's OPTIMUM performance, if it can be overclocked w/out damaging the CPU, DDR, AGP, etc...  But my manual doesnt match.  What is slow, fast, turbo, Ultra-turbo, yada yada, yada... It doesn't even MENTION  this in my manual!  I thought "turbo" was only on my old 486!
My manual doesn't match my BIOS for
FREQUENCY/VOLTAGE CONTROL
my manual
CPU Ration Selection
DRAM Frequency
Spread SPectrum
Adjust CPU bus clock
DDR clock
Adjust AGP/PCI clock
CPU vcore adjust
CPU vcore
DDR power voltage
AGp power voltage
and now...
my bios / current setting / available options
Dynamic Overclocking / Disable / Enable, Disable
Performance Mode / Slow / Fast, Turbo, Ultra-Turbo (What on earth is TURBO!)
CPU Ratio / Locked *(won't allow a change)
DRAM / AUTO / 266, 333, 400, AUTO, 500, 532
Spread Spectrum / Disable / Enable, Disable
Adjust CPU Clock (Mhz) / 200 *(won't allow a change)
  DDR Clock (Mhz) / 333 *(won't allow a change)
Adjust CPU Clock (Mhz) //  66.66/33.33  // 66.66/33.33, 72.73/36.36, 80.00/40.00
CPU Vcore Adjust / NO / Yes, NO
  CPU Vcore   1.5250v *(won't allow a change)
DDR power voltage  2.50v  (can change but not sure if i need to)
AGP power voltage  1.50v   (can change but not sure if i need to)
How can MSI NOT  realize they dont have the right info in the manual!  I mean EVEN the screenshot is not the same as my BIOS.
I wanna get every ounce of performance out of my pc, and i see many peeps on the forum w/overclocked riggs.
I have 400mhz capable AGP card (listed below)
I have 800mhz capable CPU   (listed below)
I have pc3200 DDR (listed below)
what can i get out of my rigg?
AND what the FREAK is fast TURBO and Ultra-TURBO!

Read through the FAQ by Maesus. It really does answer many of your questions.
Information on MAT(fast turbo etc...) Here.
Make sure you install the 2-256MB Ram on Dimm1&3 or 2&4 for dual-channel to be enabled. It may not work with that 512MB stick in there. Best would be to save up and get another stick of 512MB and sell the 256 er's. Lots of these boards won't boot with more than 2 sticks of Ram installed.
Set DDR voltage to at least 2.65v for stability on dual-channel.
Leave Dynamic OC disabled till you figure everything else out first.
See if you can get the dual-channel working well and Mat to at least "fast" setting.
Some of the other stickies on the main page would be good reading too.
Then if you have more specific questions come back here more info.

  • [nForce] Need Help Configuring BIOS

    Hi,
Check out my setup in my signature below...
I believe I should be able to run my CPU at 166 FSB * 12.5 multiplier = 2.08Ghz.  With this setup, how do I make sure that my RAM is running in Dual Channel mode at 400Mhz (they're in the proper slots).  So what should the following be set to?
    CPU FSB Clock:
    FSB/DRAM Ratio:
    Memory Timings:
    T-(RAS)
    T-(RCD)
    T-(RP)
    CAS Latency
I believe my CPU is locked, but I've heard that it can run upwards of 2.2Ghz (176 x 12.5).  Is this possible?
Would this set up require more than stock cooling? I've never overclocked before and am wondering if it is even worth messing with...
If so... say I change my FSB to 176, how does that affect the RAM settings?
    CPU FSB Clock:

    Thanks for all your help!

Yes you can bump up your FSB to get more out of it. Raise it about 5Mhz at a time till it becomes unstable then back it down some @ 5Mhz. Then test for stability, just remember that you need very good cooling if you are going to attempt an overclock. Do some research on it so you don't end up burning up your components as many people have.
    Cheers,
    Bob

  • Problem in Application Help Configuration in Solution Manager

    Hi Experts,
Here I facing one problem during Application Help configuration..
When I am going through application help for Solman Configuration it's taking me to standard erp help..
Where as in SR13, under PlainHtmlHttp,
In path tab I had given <b>saphelp_sm40/helpdata</b> for solution manager document.
But for other standard t-code it's giving actual application help.
where for SMSY,SOLAR01 etc i am not getting the application help.
    Looking for advices.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sumanta Chatterjee

    Dear Sumanta,
This depends on how you want to (or how you can) use this http://help.
    sap.com site.
At first you must be aware of the different areas on this site, these
areas have different URL structures, for example:
    - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004 <<< for mySAP ERP
    - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200  <<< for R3 Enterprise
    - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04    <<< for SAP NetWeaver 04
    - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm32    <<< for SAP Solution Manager 3.2
The main problem is that in the area "http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm32"
there is only online documentation for the Solution Manager
    functionality.
Can you please check the table SBAON_CCHK with transaction SE16.
    The following record must exist:
    MANDT COMPONENT                NAME_EN
    xxx   ST                       Solar Help
If this record does not exist, please create this record manually.
This should help resolve the issue.
    Regards
    Amit

Do I have to configure BIOS on solid state drive (SSD) on dm1z 3000 Laptop?  Want to make sure my SSD device runs 100% well.

    Hi,
You will not have to make any changes in the Bios - by default, your HP bios will already be in AHCI mode.

  • Need Flash Help - configuring AIrtight Simple Viewer Pro

I need some help configuring the Airtight Interactive simple viewer pro, which requires flash. I am a complete beginner with flash, and I am reluctant to undertake the learning curve, though I am very tech saavy.
My ideal would be to locate someone who could do this FOR me, though resources are very limited for this project. Any suggestions of where I might connect with someone interested in doing this?
Alternately, I could undertake it myself, with someone qualified to coach me rather thouroughly through the whole process. That could be offline, or here where others could benefit from the thread. If someone offers this, I will post the precise details of what I need. The project is medium challenging, not extremely complex, but more than very basic.
    Many Thanks.

    Hi:
When you create the simpleviewer slideshow with iPhoto's plugin there should be a folder created on your HD that contains the items seen in the screenshot below:
The folder was named simpleviewer because that's what I named it during the export from iPhoto. That's the same folder as I refer to as "Slideshow folder". It can be whatever you name it when exporting from iPhoto. Upload that folder to your iDisk/Web/Sites folder as shown below:
In the iFrame code use the following URL to the index.html file inside the simpleviewer folder:
    http://web.me.com/YourMMe_AccountName/simplerviewer/index.html
    That should do it.

  • Need help configuring VPN on RV120W Router (WiTopia VPN)

    Hello Cisco Community,
I need some help configuring a VPN from WiTopia on my RV120W router. I am trying to make it so that if any device connects to the router it can automatically connect to the VPN from WiTopia.
Please note that the VPN plan includes PPTP, L2TP, & IPSEC VPN types.
Is this possible? And if so, how?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,
If WiTopia is providing only client to gateway VPN, where WiTopia is the gateway allowing connections to clients, than you will not be able to configure RV120 to connect to it. RV120 in its VPN configurations cannot be configured to be a client.
The only tunnel where can play the role of the connecting part is IPSec gateway to gateway, when in the IKE policy the Direction type is Initiator and the Exchange mode is Aggressive. And you will need to receive all additional configuration parameters from WiTopia -the Encryption, Authentication Algorithm, PFS, SA lifetime and so on. But this means that WiTopia have to provide gateway to gateway VPN connection.

  • Help Configuring Raid 1 & Raid 5 on the P67A-GD65 (B3) motherboard

I just purchased the P67A-GD65 (B3) motherboard for a custom system and have a few questions in regards to setting up RAID.
    I have the following HDs
    2x 1TB
    3x 3TB
I would like to setup RAID 1 with the two 1TB drivers and RADI 5 with the three 3TB drivers.  I connected the two 1TB drives to ports 7&8 so it would be using the Marvell SE9128 and the three 3TB drives to ports 1, 2,3 to use the Intel P67 (B3) PCH.  The documentation says that SATA ports 1-6 support RAID 0/1/5/10 and SATA port 7-8 support RAID 0/1.
The two 1TB in RAID 1 would be my boot drives (going to run VMWARE ESXi with multiple VMs) and the three 3TB RAID 5 drives are going to be my storage.
I was under the understanding that you could use both the Intel P67 (B3) PCH and the Marvell SE9128 at the same time but it looks like I can only configure one or the other.  If I have neither of the two setup I can hit CTRL + I and get to Intel or CTRL + M to get to Marvell but when I set one of them up I can’t boot into the other to setup my second RAID.
At the end of the day I bought this system to run ESXi 5.0 with multiple VMs with a shared storage area.  If I can’t utilize both controllers then what’s the point of having two on the motherboard?  I made sure in the BIOS settings I enabled RAID for the HDs.
If anyone has configured their systems like this please let me know how.
NOTE: As others have mentioned if you put in all your memory at one time then the system will go into a continuous reboot state.  You should only put in one and then the others.  Right now I have two 4GB sticks in and will add the others once I figure out is going on with the RAID.

It's great to have that info now... is it posted anywhere on the website?

Please make sure that the memory frequency is manually set to DDR3-1333, the Command Rate to 2T and the memory voltage to 1.575V.  Then retest with all modules.
I changed the frequency to DDR-1333 and Voltage but I don't know how to change the Command Rate or where it is located?  Any help?
    Also,
I'm still having problems getting the system to recognize the Marvell RAID config when I boot with the VMWare ESXi 5.0 CD and try to select where I want to install... When I go into the Marvell settings the system it shows that  I have two dirves in RAID 1 Config:
    PD 0: ST31000528AS -> PORT ID = 0; PD ID = 0; Type = SATA PD; Status = Configured; Size 953869MD; Feature Support = NCQ 3G 48Bits; Current Speed = 3G
    PD 8: ST31000528AS -> PORT ID = 1; PD ID = 8; Type = SATA PD; Status = Configured; Size 953869MD; Feature Support = NCQ 3G 48Bits; Current Speed = 3G
under the HBA 0: Marvell 0 settings it says the following:
    VENDOR ID: 1B4B

    REVISION ID: B1
    BIOS VERSION: 1.0.0.1027
    FIRMWARE VERSION: 2.1.2.1505
    PCIe Speed Rate: 5.0Gbps
Configure SATA as: IDE Mode -> In the BIOS I have the settings to RAID
Not sure if it matters but here's how I have the Intel Raid setup...
    RAID Volumes
    ID = 0; NAME = Storage; LEVEL = RAID5(Parity); STRIP = 64KB; SIZE = 5.4TB; STATUS = Normal (it's in green); BOOTABLE = Yes

Any Thoughts?  I'm trying to boot from the two 1TB drivers setup in the Marvell Raid 1 Config and the Raid5 through the Intel for all my storage needs.
    Thanks again for helping out.

  • Help Configuring Hard Drives...

    Hey everyone,
Just finished my first build, everything went pretty smoothly.  My only question involves the configuration of my hard drives.  I am running 3 drives, a 40GB IDE for my OS, an 80GB IDE for music storage, and a 120GB SATA for a video editing scratch disc.  Could someone tell me what my jumper and BIOS settings should be?  Also, what kind of raid and setupwould be best.  I'm somewhat new at all this, so any help is appreciated.  Thanks!

Sounds like you already got the OS up and running so it wouldn't be a good idea to move around any drives at this point unless you have trouble.
If you do have the OS installed and all the drives are seen and working properly then don't change any settings in the Bios for the IDE Config menu. If not then I suggest the following for maximum flexibilty:
    Bios>>Integrated Peripherals>>ON-Chip IDE Config:
    Native Mode
    Pata Only
    Keep Sata Active-Yes
    Pata-Both Channels
Rest will be greyed out or leave at default.
The jumpers should be set for master/slave/single as per diagram on the drive. If there's any jumpers on the Sata just leave it where it is. You want to set it up so that all your heavy data transfers will not take place between 2 drives on the same IDE channel. The Sata drive has its own channel.
Your board has no Raid hardware onboard so you would have to buy a PCI Raid card in order to use Raid.

  • Satellite U940-108 - How to configure BIOS to boot dual OS from SSD / HDD

How can i configure the BIOS to boot multi os ssd and HDD?
I want to boot from SSD one os and other os from HDD,
When i try to do it i have windows error?
    Can you help me

    Hi
I assume you want to install the OS (which one???) on the internal mSATA 32GB SSD?
This mSATA SSD is used for caching (hybrid boot) in order to boot Windows 8 faster.
I would recommend you to install the second OS on the HDD.
For that you should create new partition which could be used for OS installation.
Then boot from the Windows installation disk and install the 2nd OS on the new created partition.

Change your user config mode in dram configuration to manual and change your memory timing to 1T.  The 1T setting will speed up your memory slightly.

You will need to enter the supervisor password as suggested by ajkula66, as he also says there is no workaround.

  • Help Flashing Bios on M57 9174-Y1A please

Hi. I recently upgraded my motherboard and recieve the error:
ERROR 0167 No processor BIOS update found.
I can eventually boot into windows 7 off my old hardrive if I leave it. I would like to fix this problem and not reinstall if possible though.
My CPU is Intel Duo Core [email protected] GHz 775 Socket
My Bios is: 2RKT57AUS        Date: 28/11/2008
The Motherboard is Lenovo Thinkcentre M57 45R312
    System Model: 9174Y1A
I looked at flashing the BIOS although I couldn't find one for M57 9174-Y1A
It won't boot from CD either, and there doesn't seem to be an option to.
    Help appreciated.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Sorry yeah missed a number on the FRU it's: M57 45R5312,
The motherboard was bought used off Ebay so I put in my old Tower.
I used my old processor which is compatible,
I tried flashing the Bios and it said it was successful.
Now on boot I get these errors:
0162 Configuration Error - Default Configuration Used
0199: System Security – Security password retry count exceeded
    0197 Unauthorized CMOS Change
I've tried clearing CMOS with the jumpers, Replacing with a new battery, Restoring the Bios to default settings etc.
None of these seem to stop these errors.
    Any help appreciated
    Thanks.

  • Help - Changed BIOS settings, now no video signal

Please help -- I changed my BIOS settings to "High Performance Defaults" and configured my boot sequence, etc. Now I get no video signal when I boot.
    Thanks,
    -RE

I presume you mean you can't get back into bios by holding down DEL. quickest way is to reset the JBAT1 jumper. /take power lead from PSU, remove JBAT1 from pins 1 & 2, put jumper on pins 2 c& 3 for 5 secs, then pur it back on pins 1 & 2, put power lead back in,  Boot, this will reset bios to defaults, you will need to enter setup at prompts and set your boot sequence etc. Did you have turbo on as well as high performance?  Better using Safe defaults, then using core center to see what you can set it up to.
    cheers
