Help Connecting a Encoder to a USB-6221

I'm new to NI and I designing a system that has a YET servo controller and a USB-6221. I need to connect the encoder output signal from the YET to the USB-6221 and not sure how.
The YET servo controller has three encoder output channels each having two signals. Phase A (A and A-not), Phase B (B and B-not), and Phase C(C and C-not).
I believe I need to wire Phase A from the YET to PF 8 (A) on the USB-6221, Phase B from the YET to PF 10 (B) on the USB-6221, and Phase C from the YET to PF 9 (Z) on the USB-6221. Is this correct?
Can anyone help me please?
Thanks,
David

Hi David,
Welcome to the NI forms. Your connections are correct for
the USB-6221 (I assumed you were using the pinout, and not BNC). There are a
few ways we can double check this – one way is to create a task in Measurement
and Automation Explorer (MAX), as it will tell you which pins to connect your
wires to (see ‘MAX Configuration.jpg). We can also bring up the pinout for the
device by going to MAX and then right-clicking on our device under the ‘Devices
and Interfaces’ folder, and choosing ‘Device Pinout’. This will bring up the NI-DAQmx
Device Terminals Help (See ‘NI-DAQmx Device Terminals Help_USB_6221.JPG’).
Hope this helps!

    Hi bowoods,
I'm not exactly sure which document you needed, but below I've listed a few resources that might be able to help you connect an encoder to a multifunction DAQ.
The first link below describes in general how you would connect an encoder to a counter
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/B3945A72AE53D1B086256EF7007C4D0D?OpenDocument
The second link is a forum post that talks about connecting a specific quadrature encoder to an M Series DAQ card. In it there are several links to articles on connecting encoders in LabVIEW

  • Ost. I am now presently online with my IPAD 2 connected to one of the USB slots in my laptop. How do I go about "Restoring" myself the 3G feature of my IPAD 2? I hope you can help me without my going back to that Apple Store I mentioned before.

    Dear Sir/Madam:
            Good day!
I went to an Apple Store here in Legazpi City, Philippines and inquired from a store attendant about the problem of my IPAD 2 which lost its 3G feature after I downloaded the iOS7 operating system which she said needed to be "Restored" at a cost.
I am right now trying to "Restore" my IPAD2 to have the former 3G feature return and my IPAD2 is currently connected to one of the USB slots of my laptop.
Please help me how to go about it so I may be able to do it myself if it is possible.
              Thank you.
                                                                                Sincerely yours,

You will not be able to see what version you are running until the iPad is activated. It will be in Settings>General>About >Version when you can get to the settings app.
The slider bar that you are describing sounds like the screen lock side switch and that has no bearing on setting up the iPad or connecting to WiFi.
Why don't you try rebooting your router? Unplug it for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again and see if the iPad will recognize and join the network.

  • Need help connecting a windows network printer to my Mac (Xerox Phaser 3600) over a windows home network

Need help connecting a windows network printer to my Mac (Xerox Phaser 3600) over a windows home network.
My Mac runs lion and the windows desktop runs Windows XP
I have tried for a few hours or so to connect my mac to this printer over a home network.
For your information it does work when connected directly to my mac using a USB Cable.
If there is no soultion could I have help getting the drivers for a Dell All-in-One Photo 926

In most cases you can connect to the Windows shared printer from the Mac. But there is a dependence on the Mac driver being compatible. For many consumer inkjets, the vendor created driver cannot be used for this type of connection so you need to look at alternative drivers, such as Gutenprint or PrintFab. If you can tell us which brand and model of printer you have shared from Windows then we can answer your question with the preferred procedure on the Mac.

Brand spanking new N70, downloaded PC suite however not able to connect phone to compter via USB to transfer music. Can anybody help?

    Hi bento
When you install PC Suite for first time there are TWO seperate processes, firstly installing PC Suite then returns to desktop and then secondly establishing connectivity during which "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" and "PC Connectivity Solution" installed.
You could go to Setings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Repair and see if this helps

  • Connected in a non-compatible USB mode?

Well, first of all, I guess I should "howdy from a newbie"
I bought my Lumia 820 a few days back, and after having a few set-up quirks, things seem to be going quite well.
I can only see one problem left, and that's as the title suggests, and was wondering if you guys would be able to help with that one.
When I connect the phone up to the PC (running Windows XP SP3), and having Nokia Suite 3.6.36 running, it comes up telling me that the phone is 'connected in a non-compatible USB mode', preventing me from doing anything in Nokia Suite.
Any clues as to what I would need to do to correct this please?

  • Nokia 5310 connected in a non compatible USB mode

Hi , I have tried to connect my nokia 5310 to my computer in printing & media apps mode for use with Nokia music site , but each time I keep getting "connected in a non compatible USB mode   " .
When I connect to Nokia PC suite there is no problem.
I have the latest PC suite installed .
Can someone help , please !

did you try the pc suite mode in order to use the nokia music? that might actually work for you or mass media either one of those might work better than 'print' mode

  • Connected in a non compatible USB mode! Nokia 5310...

Aghhhhhhhhhhh.................. please can someone help me. I have been able to transfer music to my phone with no problems until yesterday. When I plugged in the USB cable to put a new album on my phone, I chose the usual printing and media option, and a sign comes up on my PC saying that my phone is connected in a non compatible USB mode and I cant transfer any music over. Thats not all, I spoke to one of the "TECH" guys at nokia and he told me to format my memory card on the phone, so i did this. Now I have NO music on my phone and it still says the same damn thing!!!!! When I plug my phone to the PC it opens it like a normal memory card! Has anyone any idea what the hells goin on? Do I need a new memory card, is my phone stuffed or has my PC just decided not to work with Nokia phones anymore?
Any help would be much apreciated.

The message about the incompatible mode is from PC Suite, and you should see it when you connect in mas storage or media transfer modes. As long as you are using Nokia Music Store application and it recognises the phone (ie: the phone name is shown next to the phone icon on the left of the screen) then you shoul be able to use the Nokia Music to transfer music in media transfer mode.
If you are not using Nokia Musioc, connect in Mass Storage mode and you can copy music between the PC and phone just as you copy between different folders in the PC. However, if your music is DRM-copyright protected you can't use this method and will need to use either Nokia Music or Windows Media Player in media transfer mode.
Because you've reformatted the card, it is completely blank, so when you start up various apps in the phone they will re-establish their correct file structures so after usage the behaviour of the phone will become more 'normal' as you know it.

  • Connect Satellite internal HDD to USB

    Dear all,
I try to reconnect a laptop HDD to USB but can't access it.
    1. My old Satellite don't want to turn on anymore.
    2. I removed my HDD and connect it via an external USB case to my new Satellite.
    3. It is listed in the Device Manager under Disk Drives: "TOSHIBA MK2046GSX USB Device"
    4. I click the "populate" button and can't get informations except Capacity and no volume (disk was in NTFS).
    5. In the Disk Management i get the error "Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)". the disk is "Not Initialized".
NOTE: I previously set a password on the disk via the BIOS, I of course I still know it and I hope that it is note the source of the problem...
Thank you if you can help me with this matter.

    > previously set a password on the disk via the BIOS, I of course I still know it and I hope that it is note the source of the problem...
I think this is the problem here.
The HDD is secured by HDD password and you will not be able to get access to the HDD if this password has not been removed previously.
But the HDD password can be removed ONLY via BIOS :( but your Satellite does not functions and in such case you cannot delete the HDD password

  • I need help connecting my iPhone and computer together.

I need help connecting my iPhone to computer

    Howdy sprinklemk,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Take a look at the iPhone User Guide, it answers your question about how to connect your iPhone to your computer and provides additional information that you may find helpful.
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
You may need to connect iPhone to your computer in order to complete activation. Connecting iPhone to your computer also lets you sync photos and other content to iPhone from your computer, using iTunes. See Sync with iTunes on page 18.
To use iPhone with your computer, you need:
An Internet connection for your computer (broadband is recommended)
A Mac or a PC with a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port, and one of the following operating systems:
OS X version 10.6.8 or later
Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
Connect iPhone to your computer. Use the Lightning to USB Cable (iPhone 5 or later) or 30-pin the other device.
    Cheers,
    -Jason

  • Can't connect to Blackberry Link with USB

My Z10 will only connect to blackberry Link through Wi-Fi, when I turn Wi-Fi off and plug in with a USB cable it says not connected. I tried removing it then adding it again, reinstalled Blackberry Link, rebooting computer restarting phone nothing seems to work. I want to backup my phone but can only do it with a USB cable. If anyone has had this problem and solved it could the please help?

Perhaps this is too late for those with the problems connecting Z30 via USB in BBLink.
Anyway, the definitive solution is as follows: (this only applies to Windows)
    1. Uninstall the BB Desktop Software 7 (BBOS) from your computer, and have only BBLink. (it is said that you can run both BBOS Desktop as well as BBLink on the same pc however, if you do, BB10 devices will only connect through Wi-Fi and won't be able to back up. this is because the BBOS Desktop driver has priority over USB network interface.
    2. Once BBOS Desktop is uninstalled, then turn the wi-fi 'off' in your BB10 device, then turn off the BB10 device, then connect the said device via USB, and when you do this, your computer will automatically pick up the driver from your BB10 device, and your device may reboot (if not just turn it on and wait couple of minutes).
    3. Open BBLink, and wait for the password prompt screen to log into your BB10 device.
    That's it, all done. Thanks!

The problem is with your computer's USB port as it is powering down to save power. You need to turn this off. Go here. http://www.ehow.com/how_6818080_turn-port_s-power-save-option.html
