Help connecting dumb terminal to Mac
I have an eMate 300 with a vt100 terminal emulator and I want to connect it to my Mac with a direct serial connection. I have a Keyspan USB to RS-422 and the eMate connects beautifully with NCX and the TTY.Keyserial1 is in /etc/TTY. I have seen that people have used the terminal emulator on the eMate to start a session on the Mac, this would be great for me except no one s ys how they got it to work.
What settings do I need to enable Mac OS X to accept incoming direct serial connections?
Similar problem. I have an M-Audio Fast Track. How do I configure the interface or Garageband to always default to Mono-2? It defaults to Mono-1 and some of the Garageband screens don't offer the ability to switch the input, only to select the USB input. Am I missing something?

Need help connecting 23" ACD to Mac book pro
I have a 17" MBP and a 23" ACD the ACD works beautifully with my G5 tower. Now when I try to connect it to my MBP nothing happens. The display power indicator is on but the screen is black. When I tell the MBP to detect displays nothing happens. What am I missing?
I have the same issue. A little more interesting on mine, which you can try with another monitor, find an analog monitor and using the DVI to Analog adapter that came with your computer, connect it to the analog monitor. Mine works with an analog monitor connection through the adapter but not to a straight dvi connection.

Does LabView support a thin client or dumb terminal (diskless workstation) type of deployment? I have a need to run LabView on some sort of dumb terminal / diskless workstation. If someone has deployed LabView in this matter, please provide me all the details on how this was accomplished (software, hardware, etc.)

My first suggestion has nothing to do with LV. It is simply connecting as a remote client to the windows server and controlling the windows session on the server.
My second suggestion involved writing a program which will contact the PLCs directly using Modbus and get the data from them. As mentioned, you can find some Modbus client implementations for LV by searching the web (or, if you have LV 8 and the DSC module, I think it should come built in).
My third was writing 2 programs - one would run on the server and one on the client\s. The server program would be responsible for sending the data to the client and the client would be responsible for interacting with the user and sending the appropriate messages to the server. I already gave you pointers on what to search for (the example finder can be found by going to Help>>Find Examples and the site can be searched from the box at the top of the page, but make sure you don't search just the forums).
In both cases, you would need to design the program and the interface for the user.
Wi-Fi also has nothing to do with LV and is simply a way to form a wireless network. Any mobile device would almost definitely have support for it and buying an access point to form the wireless network is easy and cheap.
To learn more about LabVIEW, I suggest you try searching this site and google for LabVIEW tutorials. Here, here, here and here are a few you can start with and here are some tutorial videos. You can also contact your local NI office and join one of their courses.
In addition, I suggest you read the LabVIEW style guide and the LabVIEW user manual (Help>>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf).

hi, have a iphone/macbook itunes prob. i connected my phone to mac to add songs, and it wiped 99% of music from my phone. on the mac it still lists the songs on my phone but they are greyed out. can anyone help? very frustrated and want my music back.
I am having the same problem. I have just tried this. Unplug iphone > open itunes > delete all music from itunes library > close itunes > re-open itunes > add music from original folder > plug in iphone > select songs > press sync > unplug iphone using eject button onscreen > checked phone .... still nothing in music folder on phone. On itunes the "On this iphone" tab the songs remain there but greyed out.

Need help connecting a windows network printer to my Mac (Xerox Phaser 3600) over a windows home network.

I have tried for a few hours or so to connect my mac to this printer over a home network.
For your information it does work when connected directly to my mac using a USB Cable.

But there is a dependence on the Mac driver being compatible. For many consumer inkjets, the vendor created driver cannot be used for this type of connection so you need to look at alternative drivers, such as Gutenprint or PrintFab. If you can tell us which brand and model of printer you have shared from Windows then we can answer your question with the preferred procedure on the Mac.

Not much you can do. You overwrote your current data with older data when you restored the phone from that backup. Your data's gone.

When adding this printer via IP, 'Windows' and also the advance tool everything seems to work correctly. Once printing it goes through as if it has printed yet nothing comes out. As if it isnt communicating with the printer. Have also downloaded drivers from the canon website for the printer for mac.
Adding another cannon printer (Canon iR C3200 PCL) the same way works fine and am able to print from this printer.
Any ideas or suggestions to help solve this problem?
ThanksWith Dept ID enabled, you need to open Printers & Scanners, select the C5035 printer in the list and then click on Options & Supplies. Then select the Utility tab and then Open Printer Utility. With the Canon utility open you will see the Printer Information button. Press this to open the Printer Information window that will confirm Dept ID Management is enabled in the copier as shown below.
Click OK to close the Printer Information window and then enable the Dept ID setting and enter your Dept ID and PIN. You will have the option to verify that your ID / PIN is correct and select not to use Dept ID printing when printing in B&W only. With the settings entered press the Save Settings button and then Quit the Canon driver utility.
Now open a document and select to print. Change the print dialog to Special Features and ensure that the Dept ID Management setting is enabled as shown below. You can also press the Settings button to check that your ID / PIN is set and you can verify it works. If all is good then see if you can print from this Mac. -

Help! Bought an IPod from a PC user, now I can't connect it to my Mac!
I bnought an IPod from a friend who was using it with a PC. I erased all of it's memory and then restored it using the IPod updater software I got from apple.com. Now, I can't connect it to my Mac, and the IPod screen goes from the "apple" display, to the unsmiling Mac man on a file folder. None of the suggestions on the Apple support page seem to work, any suggestions?
Put it in Disk Mode, connect it with your Mac again, open the disk utility and you will able to see your iPod icon there, hightlight it, and go to tab "Erase" and do a erase (format in Mac OS externded (Journaled)). Once it has been completed, do a eject and reset your iPod. Open the iPod Updater and plug your iPod back with your Mac, and click Restore.

I just purchased an AppleTV and am trying to connect AirPlay with my mac (2012 model) In 'system preferences > displays' an airplay menu is listed but it says 'no device detected'. My AppleTV and macbook are connected to the same network. Any suggestions why it is not working?
Troubleshoot the network as that is likely what is causing the issue.
Also, temporarily disable the firewall on the Mac and disable IPV6 on the computer. -
HELP connecting my iPod 5g to a Windows from a MAC
My iPod 5th generation won't connect to my Windows PC.
I have tried the 5Rs and nothing works.
When i plug in the iPod to the USB, it comes up under the Computer tab as Removable disk 'G'.
My PC refuses to recognize my iPod as an iPod.
I connected it to a MAC first, and it works fine from there, and is recognized as an iPod.
As well i have the latest version of iTunes, and it will not recognize it in iTunes on my PC.
Any ideas? Please!The reason your iPod is not showing on your windows computer is because it is in a mac format. windows format will work on a mac but mac will not work on windows. The only way to fix it is to reformat the iPod to factory setting, which its obviously not showing up in. Try putting your ipod manually into disk mode by toggling the hold switch back and forth then put it on the off position (no red showing) the hold the the menu and center select button until you see an apple, still holding in the center quickly switch your finger from menu down to play and continue to hold the two buttons together. it should come up saying disk mode eject before disconnecting. if it does not come up and say disk mode at all and just turns on try doing it while plugged into the pc and if not, try laying it flat on the counter and trying again. if you can get it in disk mode it should show up in itunes promting you that it is in a mac format and needs to be restore, restore your ipod, note this is going to erase EVERYTHING

Can't seem to sync my phone with iCal because I get a message that says:No writable calendar. I tried the suggestions I found in Help including a Terminal command to no avail.
I can only suggest you now need to somehow link your mobile to sync with the new calendar 'On my Mac'.
I have a work Blackberry whose calendar I sync with an iCal calendar 'On my Mac' using a usb lead and the Blackberry Desktop Manager for Mac. This free piece of software from Blackberry, automatically starts up as soon as I connect the usb to the iMac and it then prompts me to select which calendar 'On the iMac', which is writable, that I want my Blackberry to sync to. -
Using an old imac as a "dumb" terminal
How do I turn on an old computer so it is a "dumb" terminal? It is connected to the new one with firewire, but I have forgotten what keys to hold down on the startup of the old one.
You want it in Target Disk Mode? Start it up with the T key held down. That should mount it as an external drive on the new Mac.
Depends what OS is on it, though; it's possible it won't support FW TDM. Easy to find out though - suck it and see -
