Help connecting my internet mail with my MAC mail

I apologize for asking so basic questions but I am lost... I have an account [email protected] that I can access on the internet.
I would like to connect that account with my MAC mail. It appears so simple but I tried about everything but it does not work. I tried setting the following parameters: email address: [email protected] (it works when accessing it on the web), incoming server: pop3.live.ca, outgoing server: smtp.live.ca, both SSL are set to on (port 995) with the password (the same that I use for accessing my web mail). It should work isn't it? But when the wizard try to access the servers, it says that the servers are not reachable.

If you want to see messages on the server web page and receive them at home go into Mail's Preferences, Accounts tab. In there highlight the web email account and in the little tabs select the 'Advanced' tab. You can then tell mail to leave messages on the web server for so many days (your choice). This way you can see the email on the web server and at home on your Mac.

Setting up Mail with College E-mail

I've been trying to set up my college mail with the mac mail program. I type in the imap account as mail.uncw.edu, the smtp as smtp.uncw.edu, and it never is able to recognize the server. Could the problem be coming from the fact that my school uses outlook mail if you were to just go to the mail.uncw.edu web site and attempt to check it?

As a UNCW alumnus, I really wanted to help you out. The only thing I could find out (through a google search) on how to set up UNCW email on your Mac was a mention on this page:

I don't know how current the page is, but they state that:

I have an iPad 3, iPad Mini and iPhone 5S and they are all sluggish on capitalisation using shift keys. I hope that Apple will solve the problem because it is driving me crazy.
I find using a Microsoft Surface and Windows 8 phone, which I also have, work as well as all the ios devices before the ios 7 upgrade.
It has something to do with the length of time that you need to hold the shift key down. The shift key needs to be held longer than the letter key for the capitalisation to work. For some reason, this is a major change in the way we have learnt to touch type on computers. I am having to relearn how to type!

Someone please help me with this Mac mail nightmare!!!

somewhere between 10.2 and 10.3 my mail settings became all wild and out of control. What I'm talking about is this. When I open my Mac in the morning, or anytime I go online I must first clear out all mail in my .Mac mail account first before proceeding to Mac mail. If I don't delete all mail in .Mac's mail account first, and then open Mac mail, it will freeze up on me immeadiately. Even if I'm using mail and more mail comes into .Mac mail account from the Internet....it will freeze up too. This has become very tiresome!
So, everytime I want to send an email from Mac mail, I must first go .Mac mail account and delete all mail .
Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, do you have a solution?

Verify/repair your disk first (not just permissions), as described here:

Now, try the following in order to identify (not solve) the problem:
1. Either tell Mail to go offline immediately after opening it, or shut down your Internet connection and open Mail afterwards.
2. Go to Preferences > Junk Mail and disable junk mail filtering.
3. Go online again.
Post back with your observations.

Lord K. Thank you. Yes I am within the 90 time period, however I travel Intertionally and I can not receive not make a call to Apple. I was just at the Genius Bar in Chicago and they said, don't worry about it. It just floats out there, however, I can not recover my messages on a flash drive. I need to go back to my old computer which I don't have with me. My messages were in folders for a lawsuit. It is going to take an incredible amount of work for me to, you have no Idea. We are talking thousands of pages! I the defendent will have them during discovery so I am not so worried. However, I can not bring them to him on a Flashdrive when I meet with him without an extraordinary amount of presssure on my part. THis is not just some little email issue. Thanks Community! I solved the problem. In fact it was not a problem but lack of understanding. These guys at Apple are way ahead in thir thinking. I will try to explain as short as I can.
In Lion, ihe Prefferences/Display show only two choices: 6-7 steps of resolution and some color tab. No two screens, no two display to overlap, nothing for us to do. "That was the problem"! Everything is automatic.
When I connected the HDMI cable to the Miniport into a T-bolt slot, the TV screen showed the "spiral galaxy" how Zyriab is calling it. In fact he gave me the best clue. That shows the connection is good. But where is the Mac Book image?
You have to drag it to the right out of the Mac Book display area, and "voila!" it will continue on the TV screen. The same with the mouse pointer, push it out ofthe Mac Book display area and you see it on the TV sreen. Good image, you can keep the max resolution, etc. The sound is still on the Book's speakers. I have to figure that out.

I was having trouble sending to hotmail accounts from my Earthlink account, they had me go into Mac Mail preferences and make changes (because they claimed it was Mac Mail's fault, even though the hotmail error code said it's because Earthlink is blocked by hotmail), now Mac Mail doesn't work AT ALL - any help changing the settings back to correct Mac Mail settings? I can provide a transcript of the entire tech chat session, if that will help...

To check your model go to About This Mac (by clicking on the Apple icon, top left) and then select more info. If you wish to use mirroring you will need one from 2011 or later running OSX 10.8 or later. The alternative would be to use 3rd party software like Airparrot.

Just Power off your Iphone wait for 10 seconds and then power on again and got to settings and software update it will download the update once again and it will work fine.

Problems Sending Mail -- ISP or Mac Mail?

Typically, I need to send nearly every message at least twice -- once initially and however many times after that from the outbox until it finally goes. At times, I'll have mail stuck in my outbox for hours, if not days and often have to use webmail to send messages in a pinch (thus losing all the benefits of Mail).
I contacted my ISP and spoke to a technician who was very helpful and attentive. I sent him screengrabs of all of my settings and he confirmed they are set correctly. However, he dismissed my belief that this is related to the ISP and said that it is probably something to do with my Mac Mail client, or my home network configuration. He suggested I switch to Entourage or another mail client, which I don't want to do.
Either way, I'm skeptical about his response because prior to using this ISP I never had the problem with Yahoo using more or less the same configuration. (Both require authentication, POP3, etc.) Yahoo always accepted outgoing messages on the first try.
Has anyone else seen this problem and can they share advice on what they did to fix it, or is the ISP blowing smoke up my skirt?

I am also having problems sending mail. This has occurred for the past 6 weeks or so. Typically, I receive the drop down message about my ISP server: "Cannot send message using the server smtp.telus.net.....". I click the "try again later" button, open the Outgoing Mail box on Mail, click on the unsent email and it usually makes it out. This has become an annoying 4-step mail process.
I contacted my ISP and they did their little tests and said that it all of my settings are fine (I wasn't surprised; I haven't changed anything) and said that I should contact my Mail client, Apple.
I encounter the same problem regardless of who or how I send the mail...if I send to an address on the same ISP server, to mac.com, to yahoo, to private website accounts, etc. I've tried sending through mac.com, through my website account, etc. Nothing changes.
From the many posts about this problem, it seems to be widespread.
And sometimes, just sometimes, Mail sends my mail just like it did in the "good old" days, on the first click or keyboard shortcut.
Has anyone found a workable solution to this annoying problem?

Firefox has stopped forwarding my mail to my Mac Mail.

I had to change my Firefox password lately, so that it does not match my Mac Mail password. Then Firefox stopped forwarding my mail to my Mac Mail box.

Also make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.
