Help connecting my Mac laptop to TV (PLEASE!)

Ok, let me try to explain this.
My screen of my MacBook Pro (Old one), got seriously damaged, cant see a thing. So i bought a TV (No idea what brand, seriously) to hook it up so I could see the screen, with it I bought a DVI to HDMI cable.
So I got the TV, with cable and i connect it, when i turn it on i get the startup background (from leopard). And i can only see the mouse. Its weird becuase there are 2 separate screens, to see the other one i have to zoom in (ctrl-scroll) to the left to see the original screen, from my laptop. On the other screen I tried to go to System Prefs, and change displays but no luck. Then i noticed there are also 2 differnet displays. The original and one called "FLX-1510" and i tried all the displays and stuff. Cant use it well.
Please!!! Can anybody help me ot tell me how to do it or what did i do wrong.

I just hooked up my MacBook Pro to my tv today with a dvi to hdmi cable. I had to go to preferences, choose displays, click gather displays (must be hooked up to tv) and on the bottom screen of the tv display box there is a button that says to sync displays. Turn this on and what is on the computer will be shown on the tv.

Sorry for the delay...
I did what you've told me, new account and manually copied my files from Time Machine. I had lots of permissions problems, but at the end, almost everything is in order... It seems it had to be with some of the Apple Preferences, but I can't be sure, as most of them were dumped to the trash can.
I still don't have my Mail Rules back, unfortunately, although I did goggled some. It is a pity, as I had around 30 or 40 of them, getting my mail in order to each of its mailboxes, but it is a small price as the rest doesn't show the before syntoms.

Hello there, can someone help me please. I erased all data and settings last night and now my IPAD just shows a line across it with the apple logo. It is not responding to the on / off switch. I have connected the IPAD to my laptop so i can reinitilise it but nothing is happening - it doesn't appear as a device on my laptop (the USB port is working OK) Has anyone else experienced this and how did you overcome it? Please help - Connection Refused - Mac to Windows Server 2012

I have downloaded MS Remote Desktop onto my brand new Macbook Air OS X and have tried to connect to my school network - which when logged in says it is "Windows Server2012"
However each time I try to log in it simply says connections refused. Nothing more.
Not sure what I can do next.

Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Are you trying to remote desktop with IP address or hostname?
Please try both alternate way and check is there any difference between them. Also as suggested by Manouchehr Omari, please see that you have remote desktop enabled on server 2012 and related RDP port (3389) opened for remote connection to take place under
firewall setting. If possible for a try disable firewall and check. You can get more troubleshooting information from beneath link.

Need help connecting a wireless laptop

hi can someone help me i am trying to connect a Dell Latitude D820 to a Linksys WRT54G5 everytime i try to connect wireless to it i get internet for 2minutes then i keep getting disconnected. NEED HELP Connecting To Mac At Office Using ARD 3

I have a MacBook Pro that I would like to leave at my office without having to bring it home every night. I installed ARD 3 on my admin computer (my mac mini) at home. I have also installed the client software on my laptop at work. I have all of the correct IP addresses, DNS names, port numbers and all that but I can't figure out how to connect to my mac at work. When I went to enter the IP address of my mac at work under the add by address menu, after I entered my user name and password, it said connection failed. What do I need to do? What information do I need to enter into the right places?

You may need to open TCP and UDP port 3283 and TCP and UDP port 5900 in the routers on your end and your company's end. For encrypted file transfer (ARD 3.0), also open TCP port 22. You may also need to open TCP (and perhaps UDP) 5988 and 5989, though it's not clear under what circumstances this will be necessary.
If your systems at work get their IP addresses via NAT, you'll also have to forward those ports to your MBP's internal IP address.

New iPad Won't Charge when connected to Mac laptop

Heading pretty much says it all. I get a window that says something like "this acessory won't charge" or something like that on the computer screen. I can download music just fine, but the computer won't charge the unit.
Anybody else have that problem?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

How to connect my Mac to my analog phone?

I know this sounds like a weird question, but I need to connect my Mac laptop running 10.5.2 to my Polycom phone. I know there are many options like Skype, etc... but I need to use my own softphone which goes to a company dialer. For example I use ohphonex. This allows me to dial any number and point it to an IP gateway to receive my call. I can use this with the internal mic and speaker, or attach my mic to it, but quality is still not great. The polycom phone I have is an excellent phone and when I am talking to other business executives with strong accents - I need have really **** good quality.
So what I want to do is to be able to dial out of my laptop, and have the voice and the mic be used with the phone. I would like to connect the phone to the laptop so if I want to dial a phone number from the phone it will dial the program I choose (or another softphone that can let me me choose the IP gateway), and I want to be able to use the Polycom Clarity Soundpoint phone.
Can anyone help?

Need help connecting to internet with wireless card

I am currently able to connect 4 Mac laptops and 1 G5 desktop to my Airport Extreme without any problems. I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 with a Dell Truemobile 1400 Dual Band WLAN Mini-PCI card that recognizes my AE and connects to it, but I can't get it to connect to the internet. I've tried using the internet connection setup wizard for an isp with username and password but it wants to configure a dialup connection. I've tried just double-clicking on my Internet Explorer icon but it won't connect. I know I've overlooked something(s) but I would like to know if there a procedure that someone can walk me through to get connected. I've also tried using a Belkin USB wireless adapter which also recognizes the Airport, but I still can't get connected. Any help would be greatley appreciated. Steve

Mac laptop fails to logon wireless to WRT160N V2 after setting up a Dell laptop

I assisted a cooworker over the phone with wireless setup of a Dell Laptop and afterwards she could not connect her Mac laptop (it was working okay before). The only thing we did was log the Dell into the router via ethernet cable, obtain the PIN for WiFi Protected and use it to connect wirelessly. She closed the router config screen without making any changes. The Dell connects to the WRT160N wirelessly without problems but her Mac received a message "wireless setup has changed..." and it prompts for the linksys password but gets invalid message when entering PIN. Could connecting the PC cause a problem with the Mac? Or does it sound like she may have changed something when exiting the Router config screen?

When we originally booted up the Dell, it detected the linksys (SSID) wireless LAN, prompted for the Routers PIN number, we entered the 8-digit PIN found in the router's Wi-Fi- Protected Setup page (radio button was already set for Wi-Fi Protected Setup). After entering the router PIN the Dell connected wirelessly and the MACbook started to have problems. One person thought that by connecting the PC using WPS - it may have changed mode or encryption. I didn't setup this wirelss LAN originally and it is my first experience using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup). I can switch it to Manual and go through all of the settings you suggested later today.

Hi there. I also bought an iWires mini Display port to HDMI cable and have an LG LED/LCD TV. I plugged it in to my MB Pro and followed the very small writing that came in the package and got both audio and video going. You need to change the audio settings from within System Preferences on your Mac to select your TV as the audio output.
My concern is the data latency - do you experience a delay between moving your mouse on the MBPro and the TV displaying the movement? It is only a fraction of a second, but certainly enough to be annoying, especially in a cable as expensive as the iWire.

Your advice did not help me. I also installed 10.7.4 combo but the situation is the same.
my internet connection is ok, mail is ok, but app store after 3 resets does not recognize my ID and it says "connection is not possible". Why?
