Help connecting to windows please!
Hi,
This may be very simple for you, however I am not a windows user and am posting for a friend.
I think the problem is that she is getting an error message when trying to install the latest version of i tunes as she does not have windows xp sp2.
Two questions i suppose.
1. Is the sp2 a free update for xp or would she have to buy this.
2. Can she use the xp version she has and use an earlier version of itunes to activate her ipod touch.

no, updating the SP will not cost anything, and is highly recommended, especially since it includes a lot of security updates. actually, the latest SP available is 3, so she should definitely at least upgrade to SP2!

unless she has SP2 and iTunes 8, she won't be able to activate it.

I need some help connecting to LDAP please.
I've been working on this problem for a few days now and I'm really frustrated. I'm going to search through these message boards and hope some topics are of any use. If anyone knows of any please post the links in this thread that would be very helpful.
Here is my problem. My domain name is called swinsk.com. I used a LDAP tool to find my base DN. It came up with DC=swinsk,DC=com.
I am trying to use anonymous bind. When I hit save changes it keeps telling me that my basedn is incorrect and I should that I should check my basedn. When I try to save my changes without an anonymous bind it tells me that my bind DN is incorrect to check that. I am not sure what my bind dn should be if I want to use my administrator account. I'm going to try and figure that out as well. I'm very confused.
If anyone could lend me a hand and point me in the right direction I would be estatic.

However, when I try to click find under any of the other tabs it says there is a problem and it cannot connect to the LDAP server. This proxy server seems to be very buggy in regards to LDAP. Either that or I am just stupid. I am pretty sure it is set up correctly because I am able to browse LDAP with the LDAP browser tool using the base dn and bind dn I am using in my Global Settings configuration.
Any suggestions? -
Help connecting to Windows Small Business Server?
Is there a document that does a step-by-step for adding a Mac to a Windows domain on Small Business Server 2003? Microsoft has a two-year-old document that doesn't seem to apply to Mac OS X 10.4.8.
I haven't been able to find anything in Apple Support about this.

Note both of these give a detailed instruction on how to do it the apple recommended way - that is with an OS X server as an OD master and a Win2k3 server running AD. As such youre going to have to do alot of tuning and figuring out if you dont have an OS X server at your disposal. -

What do you mean by connecting your Windows? The only connection you will get is via iTunes to stream your media content.

All my Windows operating Systems are set to use the UI Culture: German
With Update-Help or Save-Help you can download PowerShell help in different (any) language by use of the –UICulture parameter.

Because my Windows OS is set to use the German UI Culture and the Cmdlet Get-Help depends on it, I cannot access PowerShell help in a different Language (English) with Get-Help.
There is still no translated German PowerShell help and even if I have installed the en-US verbose Help files I cannot use it (easily)!
I made a suggestion on Microsoft Connect to add the –UICulture Parameter to the Get-Help Cmdlet, to make it possible to call Help in a different language then the Windows Ui Culture.
As a workaround until then you can use the .NET Class [System.Threading.Thread]::CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture to set the UI Culture and get Help in a different language.

I have just bought iPhone 3gs in Sept.11. I was trying to update the software using itunes but it is showing Error "-3259" saying connection timeout. Please help.
Did you already check your securit software settings? iTunes has to contact Apple during the update process.

If you're trying to connect to a Bonjour server on the remote network, that won't work over a layer 3 VPN. Use something like Hamachi or one of the SSH-tunnelling Bonjour proxy apps for that. -

my ipod nano (2nd generation) wont connect with windows or itunes, i used it last week (charged it through USB) then this week when i connect it (once again through USB) it wont work, it says "windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems" any help? ive made sure my itunes is up to date, done a reboot on my computer and ipod and still nothing..help please
This could either be a conflict with the iPod's docking port, the iPod's USB sync cable, or even the USB port you are plugging the iPod into on your PC. So the first thing I would try and do is plug the iPod into a different USB port on your PC. Make sure it's a high powered USB 2.0 port as they provide a higher power throughput than older USB ports or even the ones that are sometimes available on the front of the tower.
It might help to disconnected all other USB devices from the PC (minus the keyboard and mouse) and reboot the PC. Then reconnect the iPod once again.
If still no luck, swap out the cable with another known working cable to rule out the possibility of a damaged or faulty cable.
Lastly, plug the iPod into another PC to see if it's recognized there. If the same error appears on another machine, it's likely a hardware issue with the Nano meaning you'll want to have it serviced or replaced.
