Help, Connection failed & i cant get up

i recently started using my old, better comp but it refuses to connect to the internet. :-(
in the bottom left of my screen it shows the linksys square but its greyed out and i cant do anything with it but a mouseover says "start here". ive tried restarting the program but nothing happens. in my networks my wireless network is disabled and when i try to enable it, it says "connection failed"
ive enabled windows zero which allowed to get me to get on the internet once but because the wireless network is disabled and i cant enable it i have a very hard time finding the "available networks" screen.
my questions are, 1) is there a way to fix the linksys by means of repairing from this problem?
2) anybody know of a comand prompt or something to bring the available networks up
and 3) i had the same problem on my other computer but had a tiny icon of my wireless which i could just click "repair" on but i cant get the icon down there/cant get the repair option on the network

Very simple! uninstall the linksys s/w.....insert the setup cd and exit from the welcome screen (DONT CLICK ON CLICK HERE TO START). unplug and replug the adapter. u will get a found new h/w wizard. It will do u want to connect to the inter. Say not this time. It will ask wat u want the wizard to do? select install the s/w automatically. It will install the adapter drivers. Try to detect ur n/w

Hello,
I've recently been having an issue where I can connect to any wireless network, but I cant get an IP, and sometimes I get an internal IP, or even if I get one I cant get any internet connection. This is happening everywhere but my home. School, friends, etc. I've tried everything I can to get it working, I just dont know why I can connect to the networks fine, but cant get internet.

What have you got set as the primary and secondary DNS servers (Network Preferences/TCP/IP) ?
Try using 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1 in there and see what happens.

Ipad2 lost w-fi connection and i cant get it back, help!!

I've got a problem with my ipad2. Since last weekend its stopped being able to connect to the internet. Every time i try to connect it says 'unable to join network'. I've tried resetting the router, and the ipads network settings, and rebooting the ipad itself. I also tried turning the wi-fi off in ipad settings then turning off the ipad. When i rebooted the ipad, it had automatically turned the wi-fi back on, and as before it says 'not connected'. Attempting to join my network with password brings up 'cannot connect to network'. And nothing works. My laptop (using same wi-fi) and PC connect and can get online just fine and all the router lights are green. My router is a Netgear DG834G. Any ideas?

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Help me please! cant get iTunes after a system restore!

hello...
i had to restore my PC to a later date, hoping that it would help a couple of other problems ive been having, the main one being ALOT of "Timed Out" errors while online...
now when i try to open iTunes, i get the error "iTunes Library.itl"...
anyone know how to fix this?

Just had my cabinet enabled for Fibre/Infinity under the SuperfastSurrey scheme. After a wait of nearly 2 years.
However the BT linechecker only gives the option of broadband @512kb.
I am approx 2km from my cabinet (Haslemere 29).
What are my options?

I have checked your details. The screenshot below from the BT ADSL checker (www.dslchecker.bt.com/) indicates that the cabinet (Haslemere 29) serving your home has been connected to the fibre network as the words "Fibre Multi-cast - Available" are on it.
"With regards to what speeds can be achieved once a cabinet has been connected, there are many factors that may impact on the broadband speed that a home or business may receive, but being on a long phone line from a cabinet can result in a home or business not getting access to a 15mbps fibre-based service. Residents whose premises are connected via short copper lines from their cabinet can get speeds of up to 80mbps but speeds decrease quickly along copper so there will be some residents who will not be able to get a fibre service at all.
Contractually, 94% of the Superfast Surrey deployment area will be able to access speeds in excess of 15mbps and many will receive much faster speeds. However, there are approximately 5000 homes and businesses in our deployment area that are anticipated to get speeds of less than 15mbps as part of our deployment. Some Internet Service Providers may offer a fibre service for speeds between 8-15mbps but there are other homes and premises where no fibre service will be offered.
it would appear that your home falls into this category as on the screenshot below there is no indication of FTTC (Fibre to the cabinet) speeds.
A review of the premises in our deployment with slow speeds (less than 15mbps) by the programme team is now underway to identify what if any improvements can be achieved within the constraints of the available budget and technical feasibility. Once both the results of the analysis are known and the programme team have determined where improvements can be undertaken within the available budget, we will update the relevant parish councils and will request that they convey this information to their communities.

Wicd has suddenly stopped working for me. The only recent change I can think of is updating virtualbox_bin (from AUR). I can successfully connect to my wireless network from an Ubuntu 10.04 machine, so the problem is on my Arch laptop. I haven't manually set up any interfaces, that's for sure. In VirtualBox my network adapter is set to "Attached to: NAT", not "Attached to: Bridged Adapter".
Did you intend to set up a bridge? I find that NAT works much better (unless you need to use the virtual machine as a network server)
No, I didn't intend to set up anything. I just want wireless and wired to work on my laptop and on my virtual machine, and I want to be able to access shared folders from my host OS in my Windows XP guest OS (which happens via the network sharing functionality in Windows).
Also, today I tried connecting to another wireless network, and I was successful, so maybe it's something about the way that my home wireless settings are configured. I tried rebooting several times yesterday when I couldn't connect at home, so I don't think it was something fixed by me rebooting before I tried connecting to the other wireless network. I'll try again to connect to my home network in a bit, just in case it was.

My iphoto keeps crashing in seconds everytime I open it. I have enough memory, updated, and tried restarting my computer and nothing has worked. Please, Help? I just cant get it to stay open.

What version of iPhoto? What version of OS X?
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Mini shows connect to outlet icon, cant get it to do anything

updated ipod mini software, it asked me to connect it to power outlet, i did so. now it shows an icon (ipod charger connected to outlet) cant get it recognized by pc, the computer doesnt see it. when i turn on the ipod it shows the apple icon and then connect to outlet icon. when i conncet it to pc, shows the same. when connect it to charger, shows the same.

What do you mean by connect to itunes icon? It's in recovery mode, right?
Try forcing to turn off:
Press the home button and power button together. This forces a power off.
Try DFU mode
Plug your device into your computer with a USB cable.
Turn off the device.
Hold the Power button for 3 seconds.
Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds.
Release the Power button but keep holding the Home button.
After about 15 seconds you will be alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode.

Make sure you have the latest version of itunes
That may be a bug in your version and Apple has probably released a fix for it.

Sorry, it's a little confusing. You get the "embarrassed" screen if Firefox crashed and isn't able to automatically restore your previous session.
If you unselect the old windows and tabs, Firefox should start up with your home page after that.
Or does it happen every time you quit Firefox and start it again?
What page do you want as your home page? You can check the setting in the Preferences dialog. These articles describe the steps:

If you have an early iPad 1G it won't run iOS 6 or later. You're running the latest version of iOS - 5.1.1.

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help
iPad,iPod,iPod Touch Recovery Mode
You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.
