Help - Constantly needing to restore iphone 3

I have had to restore my iphone 3, 4 times in the last 3 weeks.  The phone just completely crashes for no known reason and is only a year old.  Have booked an appointment for genius but as have to drive over an hour to get there am wondering if you have any ideas on my problem

You should be able to sync the iPhone 3 to select the photos to transfer to your computer. If you have someone with a windows computer (assuming yours is not) you can obtain the photos through the windows sync from autoplay. I'm not sure how Mac handles it. Your data in the contacts and notes is what would go across with a restore from backup and other than taking multiple screen shots and emailing these to yourself (extremely tedious) I'm not sure how you would be able to transfer this information across. Hopefully someone else has the answer. Best of luck

  • I need to restore iPhone but it won't let me until I turn off "Find my iPhone".  I can't turn that off because of the restrictions passcode.   Please help

    I have a restrictions passcode on my son's phone.   I had recently changed the code and now what I thought was the new code, isn't working.
    I need to restore the phone, but it won't let me until I turn off "Find my iPhone."   I can't turn that off without a passcode.

  • Need to restore iphone 5 but itunes doesn't recognise it

    Hi
    I tried to update my iphone 5 to the latest iOS7 using iTunes but I got error message 4005. My phone is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen and I understand that I need to restore it to factory settings and can do this using iTunes. But when I plug my iphone into my pc (HP notebook, windows 7) iTunes doesn't recognise it. Apparently it should recognise that my phone is in recovery mode and ask if I want to restore it. This does not happen. I have tried the suggestions of many people with a similar problem in the support community but none of the solutions has worked for me and I have followed the resolution steps on the Apple support pages but have had no luck there either. I can see my iphone is in recovery mode in device manager on the pc, iTunes is up to date, I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes according to Apple instructions, I have re-started the apple mobile device service, I am using USB 2.0 port not USB 3.0 and directly to the computer not via a hub.
    If anyone can provide any help and useful suggestions on this I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

    Hey bron_cross,
    Wow, Superb troubleshooting so far! Usually for the symptoms you have described, I recommend the sub-step titled “If the device is not recognized while in Recovery Mode” located in Step 5 of this article:
    iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
    However, it seems like you have exhausted all of the suggestions in that step. Did you happen to move on to Step 6: Check for third-party software conflicts? If not, here is the excerpt:
    Certain phone and cellular device connectivity software from vendors such as Samsung, Nokia, Bora, Novatel, Sony, Android, LG, Sierra, Huawei, Pantech, or Motorola may cause your device not to be recognized. If you have such software on your computer:
    1. Uninstall the phone or cellular connectivity software temporarily, and test.  Contact the manufacturer of this software for assistance in doing this. If you use the third-party phone or cellular device for your Internet connection, try connecting to an alternate network using Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
    2. Remove iTunes and all related Apple software by following this article (for Windows XP), or this article (for Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8).
    3. After reinstalling iTunes, test the device.
    4. If you still need your third-party phone or cellular connectivity software that was removed, reinstall this software and test your device to ensure it still functions with iTunes. Contact the vendor of your phone connectivity software if the issue returns.
    Also, third-party security software may conflict with iOS devices connecting to iTunes. Follow this article to troubleshoot issues that may be caused by your security software. After resolving any issues you may have with your security software, you may need to try the steps in this article again.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

Please advise.

    Yes, you can get the songs off your iPod. This question gets asked a lot.

  • Itunes 11.1.4.62 unable to read content and need to restore iphone. Please help !

    Yesterday I had update itunes to 11.1.4.62, I try to sync my iphone 5(ios 7), it unable to  read the content from my device and ask me to restore. I don't want to restore while I not yet back up everything. Any helps ? Thanks.

    Try a more recent version of my advice. The "for older video cards version" may work when the default version doesn't.
    For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
    The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Trying to connect to iTunes but says i need to restore iphone!  HELP!

    A few month ago my pc's hard drive crashed. I have since got it fixed with a new hard drive and with Windows 7 (previously I had XP).
    I have just downloaded the new version of iTunes and when I connect my iphone a pop up appears stating that iTunes cannot read the content of my iphone and that it needs to be restored to the factory settings.
    Is there anyway of fixing this problem without having to restore my iphone? If there is no alternative is there a way of saving everything? I haven't done a back up or upgrade in oer 4 months.
    Your help is much appreciated. Thanks

    Unfortunately, no. If iTunes is giving you that message, there is data or code seriously corrupted in your phone, or there is hardware damage. The only solution is to restore as instructed. This is the downside of not backing up.
    Out of curiosity, why did you not install iTunes and backup right after you replaced your HD and OS on your computer?
    The only alternative for saving some data (the backup) is to obtain a 3rd party app for windows that can backup and restore some of it independently of iTunes. There are several of these - Google is your friend to find them. The caveat is that if your iPhone flash drive is corrupted, those apps may not work properly either.

  • Need help fixing an unintendedly restored iphone 4S

    3 days ago I ACCIDENTALLY restored my Iphone to an older update, not realizing that I had not backed up to Icloud in 77 days.
    Now I lost all my recent photos, notes, and other important things I had on my phone.
    Question: is there any way to restore my phone to what it was on Monday March 24 2014?
    I am beginning a serious distaste for Apple for these mishaps. Although it is partly my fault and carelessness, nonetheless, losing all your data like this just plain *****.
    If anyone can help me I'd be very grateful. I tried restoring it to some of the pull down options, each time it got worse...now I have less of my music, really old photos I'd already saved on another drive... Help please!

    "is there any way to restore my phone to what it was on Monday March 24 2014?"
    Only if you had a backup from that date.
    "Although it is partly my fault"
    How is it only partly your fault?
    "I had not backed up to Icloud in 77 days."
    It seems to be entirely your fault.
    The iphone is not a storage device.  It simply mirrors the selected content of your computer/cloud service and allows that info to be portable.  Everything should be kept on your computer and/or could service.  Nothing should only be on the iphone.

  • Help Desperately Needed to restore Photoshop 10 catalog to Windows 8 computer and PSE 11

    I am trying to backup my Photoshop Elements 10 catalog from my old computer running Windows 7 and restore to my new computer running Windows 8 and Photoshop Elements 11.  I reconnected missing files, optimized and repaired the catalog, then repaired and re-indexed visual similarity date.  I backed up to the hard drive on the old computer, copied the files to the external hard drive, copies the files from the external hard drive to the desktop of the new computer.  From there I opened PSE 11 organizer and tried to restore.  When the restore is almost complete I get the following error: "error encountered while restoring.  It's recommended that you contact the disc drive manufacturer and upgrade to the latest available firmware for your specific disc drive before trying again.".  I also had disabled the virus protection on both computers.  I have contacted the external hard drive manufacturer and they are confident the problem is not with the external hard drive.  I have spent countless hours on chat with Adobe Technical Chat.   I have done everything that has been suggested to fix the problem and I still get the same error message.   They referred me to their 800 number for paid technical support and I was on hold for a total of 4 1/2 hours and after being trransferred several times no one came back on the line to help.  I have an open case with them and they still have not returned my calls.   I even tried using the same backup catalog file and restored to another PC running Windows 7 (and Elements 10) and it worked.  Why can't I restore the catalog to Windows 8?   Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Finished Control File Autobackup at 25-JAN-07
    exit host a
    Now I create same directories I have in host a , also in host b ,
    I have my init.ora file from host a and put it in host b ,
    and have all backups taken in host a , available in host b (got them through ftp) .
    here comes my question , I look at the pdf books of oracle and do somthing like that in host b :
    setenv ORACLE_SID DB1
    % sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
    SQL> startup nomount pfile=initDB1.ora
    SQL> exit
    % rman target / nocatalog
    RMAN > set dbid 1206648960 ;
    RMAN > restore controlfile from autobackup until time "to_date ('25-01-2007 10:35','dd-mm-yyyy hh24:mi')";
    ## to get back in time to the changes made before userb was created !
    RMAN > alter database mount ;
    RMAN > restore database ;
    RMAN > recover database noredo ;
    RMAN > alter database open resetlogs ;
    I don't run the whole process in host b , cause the restore is written somewhere , and I don't know where , and in the next time I try to run the restore operation , I get another kind of error message , and have to start the whole thing from the begining .
    what's wrong in my process ? it's either I got errors about my files that are older than the last time of the resetlogs , or the DB is recovered to its most current state , after the creation of userb .
    please advice . what should I change in my process ? it has been 3 days that I fail to recover my DB , and all I do is taken from oracle tecnet or metalink site .
    Thanks in advanced ,
    Lior .

    I think I found what was wrong .
    when I use restore controlfile until time , it means that if I wrote 13:00 the recover should be at least to 13:01 (for example) .
    meanwhile it works , I'm going to do some more tests to be sure .

  • Need to Restore iPhone contacts

    My computer crashed lost everything, I downloaded Itunes again, and pluged in my iphone4.  It automatically sync, therefore all the songs on my phone greyed out, now I can't delete them off my phone. There are no songs in itunes library, but when I did a manual sync the songs still show up greyed on my iphone.  Any suggestions before i do a complete restore.  Also do anybody know how to save your contacts so if i do a restore I don't have to retype them all in.  Thanks
    <Title Edited by Host>

    You can save your contacts by using the free app My Contacts Backup.  This will back up your contacts as an attachement to an email.  Send the email to yourself.  You can later open it on your phone and tap the attachment to re-import the contacts back to your phone.  Don't know how to fix your greyed out music.

  • Error Message:  Need To Restore iPhone 3G S

    Happy St Patrick's Day Everyone:
    I got home today & my iPhone 3GS (new update 3.1.3 installed when it first came out), says I must restore my iPhone & that it will not receive/outgo calls...I tried restart first, but resulted in same message, so I connected it to my MacBook & began a restore. But it has been over 45min since I started it & it seems to be hanging with just a lil bit of bar to go on iPhone itself & iTunes saying it is updating firmware. Is it supposed to take so long? I've got Irish'n to do tonite! - LOL

    Can anyone assist me, While driving yesterday i received the same error message but was still able to access other detail on the phone, such as Tom Tom but was unable to make calls. I did a network reset and now cannot open i phone. Image of USB cord plugging into itunes on phone and able to make emergency call only. When I got home I tried plugging the phone into itunes and i get an error message that says i have to remove my passcode. Which I cannot because the phone is not working??
