I need help converting photos in the .swf format to a format that will work on my Mac.  Thanks

SWF is a Flash file that should be able to be opened with your web browser on your Mac. Probably not on iOS though.
You will likely need to find the source file for the application that created the SWF and the image will be in that. You could then export/extract the image and have it as a stand alone file.
It does look like there are applications that can do what you are looking for though: https://www.google.com/search?q=SWF+to+JPG

  • Workflow to convert JPGs to 16:9 format

    Hi,
Does anybody can suggest a workflow to modify pictures from their original format (5184 x 3456 px) to a 16:9 format without duplicating the pic? I tried to create a virtual copy, but ID still takes the original even if the virtual copy has been set to 16:9. Is there another way instead > open image in PS > resize > save under new name? Thanx for your help!

The perfectest way would be to create virtual copies of each picture, to crop them and import the whole stuff in InDesign.
Unfortunately this won't work. As you know TIF uses a lot of memory space and my intention is to use the cropped pictures not only in InDesign but also for slideshows.
    My .02:
    - As mentioned, use jpeg instead of tif to save space, and if they are going to be cropped, e.g. to 1920x1080 for display size... they will take up relatively little space.
    - Make those virtual copies just like you said:
      1. grid mode
      2. select all you want selected
      3. ctrl(cmd?)-comma to create virtuals.
      4. select just the virtuals.
      5. give them a better copy name.
      6. crop as desired.
      7. export using tree-sync.
You'll now have a tree of cropped jpegs to use for ID or slideshows.
If you edit one, just filter by copy name and resync the tree.
PS - If you dont care that they're in a tree, use publish service instead of tree-sync. And, if you dont care whether photos buried in stacks get exported too, but you still want a tree, you could use tree-publisher.
Personally, I keep more than one tree of exported jpegs up to date for a variety of different use purposes, using export-manager for one click update after editing (true exports only - wont work with publish services).

  • Convert a PDF to SWF??

I desperately need to know how it's possible to take a multi-page PDF (actually, over 120 of them) and convert them to flash/.swf format to make them available via our website.
What Adobe program is there that can do this, now that Flashpaper is dead? (And, even that, we tried to download the trial copy to see if it worked, and it bombed out.)
Right now, we're using Design Standard CS3 and we're aware we probably need to upgrade to be able to do this, but what program will let us do this?? The PDFs we need to convert are provided by clients of ours, so they're not something we created ourselves, and are mostly created from scanned copies of pages they had in-house. In other words, it's not like an InDesign document that we could just re-convert.
(I just spent three hours trying to find the answer,  and couldn't find it ANYWHERE. So, forgive me if it's been answered already, and please provide a link!)

If you're new to actionscript...but familiar with other
object oriented languages, then you should be able to do this. If
you are not familiar with object oriented coding it might be a
little amitious to start with. Not wanting to discourage you...just
to make sure you don't get frustrated by trying to learn too much
    at once.
I have not actually used AlivePDF yet...I have not needed it
so far. But I have heard great things, and Thibault Imbert /
ByteArray definitely has a lot of valuable conributions to the
community. I haven't looked, but I suspect its not a 'component'
but a class that you need to use in code - in which case my comment
above applies. Actually I just googled...here's an intro that
    should provide more insight:

Here is an tutorial/example of using the JPEGEncoder class
    with a php script:

  • How to set up one-button embed-hotlinking for Flash SWF?

    Hello,
I'm publishing a webcomic in Flash.swf format and I'd like to make it as easy as possible for people to grab my comic and put it on their website. How can I set up one-button hot-linking that will automagically provide the code so that they can easily drop it into their website, similar to the way YouTube does with video?

you can use the following.  the bolded lines require you to use appropriate values:

  • Need help converting quicktime movies into Flash files

I need to convert a QT, PhotoJPEG compressed, movie file into a .flv format. I have AE 6.5 Standard and it keeps quitting on exporting a SWV file which would could probably get me by with my client. But, again, it errors out saying something like a JPG is busy, or a file is busy.
I have FlipforMac,a purchased version. But I'm not sure if converting it into a .wmv and then a Flash file is the best route or is even possible.
Any suggestions or ideas of software that I could purchase??
    ~reicko

i don't think you have read up on the use of flash video
(FLV). there's nothing you need that you do
not already have (except maybe quicktime pro or some other
video editing program). the FLV exporter
comes FREE with flash 8. You should be able to open your
quicktime movie in QT PRO and export to FLV
format - then use any of the flash playback components for
FLV files - best bet is to read the help
docs on this subject and go to the devnet section of
adobe.com where there are several in-depth
articles about implementing flash video into your site.

  • Flash swf that runs on every browser except in Firefox. Can anyone help me please?

    Hello.
I have an flash swf in a site that runs on every browser except in Firefox. I get an warning telling me that the page requires a newer version of flash player but i already have the 10,0,32,18 and the swf was published for flash player 9.
    Can anyone help me please?

The figures you mention only make sense on your intranet.  Are you still using the same wireless router.  The verizon one is somewhat limited as far as max wireless-n performace.  For one thing it only has a 2.4 radio.   I like many people who wanted wireless-n performance before they even added a wireless-n gigabit router, have my own handling my wireless-n network.

  • FlashPaper hangs when converting PowerPoint t to Flash swf

I tried a very simple one page powerpoint with the word test.
I hit FlashPaper-convert to Flash SWF; the dialog box appears and
indicates it is converting but it never finished. Is this also a
bug and is there a fix?
    Thx,
    Dave

No you can't from a book - there might be a script for it?
I've had alook around and I can't find one.
You could place all the indesign files into a new indesign file and then export to SWF that way.
There's a script called multipage importer that would be able to automate the inesertion of all the pages.

I'm sorry you're having such trouble using the ExportPDF service. What browser are you using?
Please try clearing your browser cache, or using a different browser (here's a list of supported browsers:   http://www.adobe.com/acom/systemreqs/.

  • Encore Help | Exporting projects to Flash format

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/encore/using/exporting-projects-flash-format.html

It strikes me that Adobe can't settle on what to call an Encore project that has been output to Flash.
Is it a "Web DVD"? That term is used repeatedly in the New Features section. Is it simply "Flash". The Build panel lists the format as "Flash" and the Output as "Flash (.swf)." Or is it a "Flash DVD" or a "Flash Project"? Both terms are used in this page.
Flash output is an important feature of Encore. It would be a good thing to use a consistent name for the assets you end up with after you output to Flash.
