Help converting Mac iTunes files to PC iTunes files

I have an iBook with lots of songs, both bought from iTunes and copied from my own CD's, and I would like to move all these files onto my new Sony Viao.
I have tried to be very matter of fact by coping the files from my Mac to my thumbdrive in order to transfer them to my PC iTunes. It didn't work. The titles showed up but there was no content.
Please help me with this problem.

iPodAgent for Windows on versiontracker.com should allow you to move the contents of your iPod to the Sony. If you need to use the iPod on both computers, it needs to be formatted for Windows. Mac's can handle the Windows formatting, PC's can't handle the Mac formatting. In other words, once you get the songs on to the Sony then you can restore the iPod to a Windows format & re-sync to the library on the Sony. I hope this isn't to confusing. Depending on the format, some sounds can be converted with iTunes or QuickTime Pro - see this Apple document for more information. For other formats, you can use third party converters such as SoundConverter.

Help converting Fireworks CS3 to Illustrator CS2 (vector file)

Hello,
I have a customer trying to send artwork that he created in Fireworks CS3 that I need to have in some sort of Vector file.
It appears that Fireworks CS3 can only save an AIv8 file. When doing this, it loses its shading and some (I believe) objet styles when opening the file in AI CS2.
Is there any insight on how to do this?

Help converting .wma to iTunes on a Mac.

I need help in converting thousands of .wma tracks to iTunes on my new MacBook Pro. Can anyone help me with this problem. I have a desktop at home which is IBM and my laptop is now Mac.

iTunes for Windows can import WMA files, but the Mac version of iTunes does not have that feature. If you can get the files onto your PC, just add them to iTunes (using Add Folder to Library or drag them in), and iTunes will import them automatically and save the new files to your Music folder. Do you have an iPod or other external hard disk you can use? That makes this process much easier.

I am trying to make a home movie and add itunes but it doesn't want to accept the m4 file type. I downloaded something I thought would help but no luck. I am using windows movie maker and need music. How do I convert my purchased music into a usable file?

My movie program wont recognize the itunes format .m4a. Any suggestions? I downloaded a program to help convert it but didn't work.

ITunes no longer recognizes midi files how can I play and convert them?

iTunes 10.3 recognised midi files, I could "move" them to the iTunes library and select them. then click on "Advanced" and "Convert to AAC" (or to MP3 etc).
iTunes 10.5 will not recognise midi files.
I think an older version of GarageBand could also read and convert midi files, but this no longer appears to be the case either in the latest version.
How can I now convet midi files? Has Apple decided to simply ignore them?

Thanks to Limnos, I now have some further things to try, but in the meantime I found I had been maligning GarageBand 11. Indeed its built-in Help system doesn't seem to mention Midi files at all, but I found out how to insert them from Apple's on-line support system at http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2009 and it works superbly well - one can even change the instruments on individual channels etc and then save the lot as an AAC (m4a) or mp3 etc file.
I also loaded up an old version of iTunes, version 10.3, which still recognises Midi files and can convert them to AAC or mp3 but in so doing some volume seems to be lost.
But the winner so far for me has been Audacity, free software. One needs to add a LAME encoder for mp3 output, I installed Soundflower and routed the playback of the midi file available in the Finder (in fact for the whole machine, while playing the midi file) and declared Soundflower as the input for Audacity. I could then use Audacity's effects menu to increase the volume throughout the track and save it. I then, using the Sound preferences of the machine, switched back to the inbuilt speakers and was able to listen to a higher volume version, playable in iTunes 10.5. More faithful to the original midi file than the GarageBand version.

This is for Windows but for Mac it's very similar/ - still Audacity. BUT the instructions in the last link don't seem to quite work, which is why I had to use Soundflower. I can import the midi file, I can select it, but then the export item on the file menu remains greyed out and unuseable, so I must presumably be missing some plug-in. Also Audacity keeps telling me it can't find various ffmpeg files even though I thought I had installed them correctly. I'm obviously missing something here, but at least I can now get my midi files into aac or mp3 format again at last.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. I did try the PRAM reset several times but it appeared not to be working as when I went into info about my Mac it showed me 0 under Audio built in. I reinstalled the software update Mac os x 10.6.8 V1.1 from the apple site 2 days ago. Everything that was using audio had seemed to crash or not work all audio files, skype and itunes. When I switched on my bluetooth it would pick up my friend's pc and it would show the volume control was un muted and still no sound, I turned off the bluetooth and it would go back to being muted. I gave up and this morning miraculously it started up with sound as soon as I switched it on and everything seems to be working.

With new iTunes 12, I can no longer convert a voice memo to an mp3 file type

Prior to the update to iTunes 12, I was easily able to convert a voice memo to an mp3 or mpeg audio file.
With iTunes 12, if you select Create New Version, mp3 is grayed out.
They changed it.
Help!

I changed Preferences>General>Import Settings to mp3 and this gave me the option to encode existing wav files to mp3. Hope this helps.

Converting MPEG-4 Audio Files back to iTunes

So my computer crashed from Vista's Service Pack 1. The cause of the crash was unknown at the time and I thought I had a virus so instead of backing up files which could contain virus's. I just reformatted my computer.
Now I have about 10 gigs of legal music from various place (CD's, iTunes, Friends) which are all already on my iPod. I know there are 3rd party programs to retrieve these songs, but I know a little bit about computers so I just did it myself.
The problem I am having is converting the MPEG-4(m4a) files so iTunes recognizes that these are music files like a MPEG-3(mp3). For some reason the actual CD's I bought when burned saved under both file types, I have no idea why. So basically I am missing about 1/3 of my library.
Any help on how to get these files back onto iTunes from my iPod without re-burning 100's of CD's?

How did you move the music? You have to do it in a specific way:

do not confuse moving your whole folder and library with moving just media files as in

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music: Copy the whole iTunes folder and all its subfolders and files intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

My suggestion to use the smart playlist was more along the lines of making one list with rules to show everything in your library as long as it was kind "mpeg" (= mp3).
Smart playlists cannot be edited manually, only by changing the rules. You can use them as the basis for another smart playlist though.
There is added overhead to using smart playlists, so don't go overboard.
