Help! Corrupted OS X, Can't Reinstall

My computer is in pretty bad shape right now, and I'm not sure what to do.
Quick backstory: after upgrading to Quicktime 7.3, I found that my version of Final Cut no longer worked properly, so I decided to move back down a working version. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to do this, so I eventually tried to use a third party app to force an install of Quicktime 7.16. Anyway, this ended up being a terrible idea. Quicktime wouldn't run at all after this happened, and neither would many of my other applications. Additionally, most of the information that's usually in the top right corner of the screen (volume, wireless, clock, etc) is missing. The spotlight icon occasionally flashes on and off, but that's pretty much it.
I downloaded and reinstalled Quicktime 7.3, but it didn't resolve anything.
I've verified all of my permissions, and when I went to verify my disk, it said there was an error and that it needed to be repaired (curiously enough, when I verify through Terminal or fsck, it tells me everything is OK).
I decided to run disk utility from the install DVD and possibly reinstall the whole operating system. I've backed all of my files up onto an external drive.
I have a Powerbook G4 (PPC) running 10.4.11, and I no longer have my original install disc because it was lost when my house burned down a few weeks ago. However, I was able to track down a PPC Tiger Install DVD. So, I load it up and restart my computer. However, I always get a freeze when I do. It either happens on the gray screen with the apple logo and the loading icon, or it happens right afterwards, on the blue screen. I am able to see my mouse cursor on the blue screen, and I can usually move it for about a second, but then that freezes up too.
I have tried holding down option and selecting the disc from there, and I have also tried restarting while holding down c, but neither of those resolve the issue. I have also tried to restart without my mouse plugged in, and it either does the same thing or gives me a strange warning screen instructing me to place new batteries in a wireless mouse (I've never used a wireless mouse with this computer before).
Does anybody have any idea what I can do to reclaim my computer?

Thanks for the tip. Would you have any suggestions for what I can do, seeing as I no longer have access to my install disc? I'm not sure what my mac was natively (maybe 10.4.2), but I'm pretty sure that the disc I have is only 10.4.0.
Do you know if it would be possible for me to load my computer as a firewire external drive to another PPC mac, use disk utility to erase my system, and then load os x from the dvd I have? Or will I still need to find a higher version disc for this install?

Soundbooth beta has caused some conflicts with my Photoshop CS3 (I am assuming that is what is causing my photoshop wierdness) causing me to have to reinstall Photoshop. When I attempted to do so, I got a message to insert Soundbooth CS4. I uninstalled Soundbooth. So I thought. But every time I try to reinstall Photoshop, I am asked to insert Soundbooth CS4.

"App Store" got corrupted. How can I reinstall w/o disk?

I am using OSX 10.6.8 in a MAC Pro desktop. I want to use the Cloud to sync my desktop calendar with my iPhone 5 calendar. When opening up preferences, iCloud is not among the "Internet & Wireless" options. I went into my Applications folder, looking for the App Store application, thinking I could get the application and reinstall the Cloud option. It was there, but a window came up saying: "You can't open the application App Store because it may be damaged or incomplete." So, what would I need to do? Your time in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I don't have the actual disk for this version to reinstall. If I upgrade to OSX Yosemite, I'm afraid I'll have to upgrade all my main applications to be compatible, at a phenomenal cost.

Uninstalled MediaSmart TV, Now I can't reinstall it, Please help

Hello, I have a HP HDX X18T-1100 CTO. My TV audio was out of sync, so I did an update for the TV. Then error messages for the TV kept coming up, so I decided to uninstall the MediaSmart TV from the control panel and reinstall it using the HP drivers. The HP driver sp37430 failed to install saying that I have a new version on the system. I've also tried sp42505, sp43648, sp43595, sp43747, and sp4877, and some other sp files to no avail. I'm using Vista Home Premium 32 Bit. Please help me reinstall the MediaSmart TV. By the way, the other MediaSmart applications are working including the MediaSmart DVD, Music, Video, and Photos. It is just my TV that is gone. Thank you in advance for your help.

First of all, this forum is not very helpful. It doesn't look like there are any HP technicians assigned to support the forums.
Anyway, I was able to fix my problem by myself. The MediaSmart system is not as straightforward as other typical programs.
Here was the solution that worked for me. I did a system restore and was able to get the TV feature to return to the MediaSmart program. However, it was still not working, although the option was back. Then I ran sp42505 and it fixed the the TV. It also seemed to have fixed the audio sync problem.
sp42505 was not even offered in the software files available for my notebook. The update that was available from HP for my notebook was what caused the problem in the first place. Actually, it was the problem with the audio sync that got me to screw around with everything. Then the update caused the resident program failure issue. Thanks HP for providing faulty software and then offering updates to make it even worse. And finally, not provide any guidance to fix the problem.

I have attempted to contact LastPass MANY times without any response. LastPass was taken off the computer over a year ago without any problems until the installation of OS X 10 LION.
Can you help with this continous irritation when opening Safari?

I once again went to LASTPASS website and they have posted a "FIX" for the problem.

I do not mean the entire ITunes folder but, rather, the contents of the ITunes folder prior to September 29th. (90% of the media is missing, along with all playlists) The media that remains says it was added on 9/29 although I know most of it was added many months or even years earlier. There are no playlists listed at all, before or after 9/29. (I know for certain that I added non-iTunes purchased songs on 10/6 although I had not created playlists for them)
I have my iTunes folder backed up on both an external drive as well as Time Machine.
I run iTunes off of an ITunes folder on my computer rather than from the external, if that's what you mean about how I have it set up.
Is it OK to drag the entire iTunes folder from the external drive onto my laptop's drive and see if that fixes it?

It sounds like you are constantly needing to restore your phone because it keeps going into recovery mode. Usually putting a device into recovery mode and restoring it can help isolate an issue to your iPhone hardware if an issue persists afterwards. I would try manually putting it into recovery mode and restoring it 1 more time:

You can but it will not fix anything - you have a corrupted library = not an corrupted application
Backup your iPHoto library, depress the option and command keys, launch iPhoto and ftom the resulting first aid window rebuild your database

when they gifted me the mountain Lion software several years ago.
Mountain Lion was introduced in July 2012. Did the people who gifted you possibly use their Apple ID for the purchase of your OS? If you used your own Apple ID, you should have simply used the one you use for all things app store. The problem with any purchase at the app store is: whatever Apple ID was used to purchase, it willl stay tied to that Apple ID forever. And, purchases from the app store are not transferable.
So, you can check with the person(s) who gifted you or spend $20 to buy it - or, if your hardware is compatible with the new OS Mavericks, you could download it and associate it with your Apple ID.
FWIW, according to the licensing agreement, the OS remains the property of Apple and you are only granted a license to run it.

Have you checked to see if the Apps have been placed in an App folder?
Try swiping down from the middle of the screen so the search bar appears. Type the name of the App and if the App appears it is indeed on your phone.
You could also try restarting your device by holding the power and home button until the Apple logo appears.
