Help creating a report with Financial Reporting Studio.

Hi,
Im new at Financial Reporting Studio so my question might be something very easy, for beginners.
Im trying to create a report with two columns where in each column there is the year dimension. In the first column there is the current POV for year, but in the second column I would like to set the prevoius year of the POV automatically, without using a prompt. Is there any function or way to do it?

Use the relative function.
The first column will be set to use the User POV.
For the second column... see the tab named "Functions". Select the function "RelativeMember". For the Member row - select User POV. For the offset enter -1... that will automatically select the prior year.

Intercompany Matching report from Financial Report Studio

Hello all,
Im trying to create an Intercompany matching report with Financial Reporting (Hyperion Reports), I've used two grids with identical selections but swapped entity and icp dimensions.
With a function I can retrieve this data into one grid and calculate the mismatch, but my question is do I need first to create a System-defined member list for my ICP members?
As a result of my current report (without the system defined member list) i'm getting half report correct and half incorrect..
Does anybody else face this problem before? Any comments and help will be highly appreciated.

I've created 2 Member List, both identical either for ICP and Entities, using scripts... and it works well....
I've Build up the report in this way:
Grid1 Acct Pay Acct Rec Matching Difference
ICP / Entity XXX Grid2. Column[A] [A]-
Grid 2 (Hide) Acct Rec
Entity / ICP XXX
Note that the Grid1 is getting the information from Grid2 and doing the matching difference. As a result I'm getting a bit list with about 210K lines, that brings to me all possible combinations with all entities. Basically the final report should have about 1K lines for every month, it means that there is a lot of Zero's on the rows. The solution I've found is use the suppress option, but as a result I've got a new problem!!
The Fist(Acct Pay) and the 3rd (Matching Difference) Column Looks fine, but the 2nd column that is "linked' with the grid 2 becomes 0.
And I'm struggling myself to get it done !! eheh If someone know how to get it fix please let me know!!

Reporting cell comments with Financial Reporting

Hi all,
Is there anyway to report comments attached to cells in "Planning data forms" with Financial reporting? Which function should I be using to do that?
I am using the 11.1.2.2 version.

I believe the functionality is <<CellText("GridName", Row, Column, Page)>> whcih retrieves planning cell comments.

Hyperion Enterprise reports to Financial reports

is there any way to migrate Hyperion Enterprise Reports to Financial reports v9?
Right now i am manually building it and i have a bunch of them to build.?
Any suggestions on easy migrations.?

Deadlock with thread issues while generating reports with Crystal Report XI

We are facing deadlock with thread issues while generating report with Crystal Report XI
Version Number is 11.0 and the database used is Oracle
In the log file on line number 74350 by 2008/12/16 13:35:54 there is a dead lock with Thread: u20184u2019 is waiting to acquire lock for 'com.crystaldecisions.reports.queryengine.av@15214b9' which is held by the Thread: '0'.
And a dead lock with Thread: u20180u2019 is waiting to acquire lock for 'com.crystaldecisions.reports.queryengine.av@15214b9' which is held by the Thread: '4'.
Exactly after 10 minutes we can see the thread 4 and 0 are declared as STUCK by 2008/12/16 13:45:54 .
Is this an existing issue with Crystal Report?
Is there some solution for this problem?

You have two threads, both entering ReportClientDocument.open(...) method.

Thread 0 is waiting to acquire ''com.crystaldecisions.reports.queryengine.av@12e0415'
So I'm thinking ??? are they the same objects?
My specific question concerning the ReportClientDocument is that both are calling open - i.e., trying to open a new report. You wouldn't be trying to open different reports using the same ReportClientDocument - so was wondering if you've cached the RCD and trying to open two different reports at the same time on the same instance via different threads.
You'd normally tie a ReportClientDocument instance to a HTTP Session, to ensure each user gets their own copy.

Planning ADM driver with Financial Reporting

We are receiving a "Error: Error creating objectjava.lang.ClassNotFoundException" when trying to create a Planning Detail db connection through workspace and an "error setting CSS Support Information Driver" error when trying to do the same thing through Financial Reporting studio.
I think this has to do with the ADM driver, but the IT dept says they installed it. Any ideas? Or does anyone know a workaround that does not involve uninstalling?

Just check if Planning ADM drivers are installed on Reporting server. We also faced the same problem. All you can do is run Plannign executable on reporting server and choose custome installation option. Then choose onle ADM driver for installation. It solved our problem.

Shared Services Security Issue with Financial Reporting - 11.1.1.3

Hi,
So we have some users that are provisioned in some groups. Those groups have Essbase Server Access and Planner access to an application. That access is working great. They have access to the app and they have access via Smartview to the cube.
Now we need them to be able to see all the Financial Reports (FR) created for that application. There are so many provisioning choices under 'Reporting and Analysis', that I'm not sure how to get this done correctly. Right now we have to assign 'Viewer' access and 'Explorer' access under 'Content Manager' tree in order for this to happen. I just think this seems wrong. We just need the user to be able to run and view a report from Workspace.
Any help is appreciated as this is a very green area for me.

You will need both Viewer and Explorer access for users to run reports.
the reason is that without the Explorer, users will not be able to see any reports or the explorer in Workspace.
Without Viewer, users will not be able to view/open any of the reports. You also have to give report access to users anyway related to the groups.
You can see anll information about different security roles for Reporting and Analysis in the shared Services admin guide.
The documentation is the best place to start for any information needed and confirming what fulfills your needs.

Creating Crystal Reports with Crystal Report Server XI

Hello,
I am new to Crystal Reports, i installed Crystal Reports Server XI R2 on Windows 2003 server with SP2 and was able to launch Inforview application and also Central Management Console Log On.
I can also see some sample reports which are installed during installation.
Now my next task is to create Crystal Reports using Crystal Report Server XI R2. How can we create a crystal report now by only using Crystal Report Server XI R2?
Do we have to install some other application to create Crystal Reports? I donot see any link on my server which i can use to create crystal reports. The only links which i can see are :

Two ways to create reports:
1) You install the Crystal reports Designer (CRW32.exe).
With your Crystal Report Server, you should also have received a second CD that would have the CR designer.
2) You use the RAS SDK and create reports on the fly using the RAS report creation APIs - .NET or Java. Since you are in the .NET developer forum, I assume you might be interested in the .NET RAS SDK. Here is a list of resources i would recommend:

Security on Essbase with Financial Reporting

I am current working on some improvement of my financial reports on essbase, all running at 9.3.1.
I have some users that I have to setup the meta security on the essbase entity dimension. For example, a user is only able to see the entity East and all the divisions under East; but the same user is not allow even to see the meta-data for other regions, e.g. he/she does not even to know there are some South, Central regions at all. Meanwhile I have some financial reports which include all the regions in the row headers. I would like to user to be able to open this reports and see their own region only, and the administrators can see all the regions.
However, currently when the user (with only East metadata and data security access) got some error message while he is trying to open the financial report (with all the regions listed in the row).
I wonder whether there is any solutions on that. I am thinking the following possibilities:
1. In 9.3.1, is it possible to have the essbase connection userid different from the financial reports userid? I have tried to modify the database connection in the workspace database connection manager, but however, when I check the essbase server log, while I am opening the FR, I still see the FR userid;
2. Any other options that is available in FR, e.g. suppress such kind of errors?

Yes, Financial Reports can be designed around UDAs:
Under the Select members dialog Window, Click the Function tab, then add the Property function, here is where you select UDA.
For example, we use the following to restrict members: Children of Sales Group AND UDA = Group_B
We use more substitution variables in reports than UDAs, is there are particular problem you are looking to solve?

Sub: nbv in dep report is not tally with financial report

I am facing a problem that is when I see the balance in S_ALR_87012026 the end book balance is showing 100,642.60 but where as if I run s_alr_87012277 the balance is showing 100,681.23 which means the difference of 38.63 the difference which i found is in april after run the depreciation.
so if anybody face the same problem give me your inputs.

execute the asset history sheet (RAGITT_ALV01) with the option "posted depreciation". Compare the result of this report with the G/L report.

Delete reports with another report

Hello Experts,
I'm not very experienced in ABAP and not very familiar with SAP systems in commom. May one of you can help me.
I've some reports, functions etc. that's used as tools on some SAP systems. This tools should not stay permanently on this systems. Up to now, they are deleted manually after using.
Is it possible to create another report which delete all of them automaticly include this deleting report itself?

You don't need another program for this, you can mass delete objects using the repository info system (tx SE84). Just select the relevant objects, mark all checkboxes in the resulting list, choose "delete" from the context menu.

Scheduled report with sub-reports (Encapsulating page failed).

Hello Everyone
I am fairly new to reporting and SAP.
I do have a main schedule report containing 4 sub-reports in the sections and 1 sub-report in the page header.
The report runs fine in the Infoview development folder, But whenever its deployed in system_testing folder, it doesn't open and gives the following error:
"ERROR IN FILE XXX:Encapsulating page failed."
I talked to DBA to change the permission for the user, but they don't agree. since its a scheduled report, user can only access the instance of the report, not to run it.
How can I make sure that the sub-reports don't run when user opens the report.

We have been facing the "Encapsulating page failed " error sporadic in our Crystal reports. It is not happening always.
We have tried with different user accounts, it did not help much. Also tried various suggestion from the following SAP Notes:
1536964 - Encapsulating page failed - The error change to Database error when the preference is changes
1211088 - Error message "Encapsulating Page Failed" - This is not the case with our reports, we still have some reports facing the same error without an subreports in it
1543412 - Infoview warning: "Error in File xxx : Encapsulating page failed - tried implementing the recommendation , but no help
1900672 - Error: Encapsulating page failed while viewing Crystal Reports based on stored procedures in BOXI 3.1 -- Our reports are not based on stored procedures.
We have faced this error in many different version of BOXI 3.1 like SP4.1, SP7.1, SP7.2. But the behaviour is similar. We have a clustered machine with 2 BOE servers and 2 Tomcat servers.
I have tried activating E2E tracing, but I really couldn't understand the reason for error from the logs. Our reports connect to datasource using webservices.

Error exporting report with sub report and parameters

I am using the JRC to export to a PDF file a report that has a sub report within it. Both the main and subreport connect to an Oracle database via an Oracle ODBC connection and both share a single parameter, RUN_ID. I need to set a value for the parameter in both reports. not. I am not sure why the update to set the RUN_ID in the second SQL query fails, but it seems to me the JRC is not detecting it as a missing parameter and is passing the SQL including {?RUN_ID} to Oracle, causing the JDBC driver to fail with this NullPointerException. I think this because further up in the log I see this:-INFO - Executing query: SELECT v.* FROM v_ger_main vwhere v.run_id = 254INFO - Verifying databaseINFO - Executing query: SELECT h.* FROM v_ger_av_ls_tagging hwhere h.run_id = {?RUN_ID}ERROR - QueryEngine error: verify database failed.Both connections are from the same database, but the first has the updated value (254) whilst the second query still seems to have the parameter and so fails to verify.Can someone suggest how I can fix this problem or if I have missed something that is required?Thanks.Jon.

What happens if, instead of passing in parameter field values, you pass the report source object to the viewer (ReportViewerBean for stand-alone or CrystalReportViewer for web)? The viewer should introspect the report for the parameter fields and bring up a parameter field entry dialog box. Does such a dialog box come up? Is only the main report parameter field queried for, or both main and subreport paramter fields? When you enter correct values for the field, does the report display?
Hopefully, the above should narrow down the issue.
By the way, JRC doesn't support ODBC connections, only Java based connectivity such as JDBC, JavaBeans and XML. If you have a report with ODBC, then it looks for a JNDI connection with the same name.

Report with sub-reports have to put ODBC credential several times

I designed a report with several sub-reports in Crystal XI, which all have same ODBC connection, when other developers got the .rpt file, they open the designer to run this report from their local PC, it will prompt them to put their user name and password for the ODBC SEVERAL TIMES. We all have the same ODBC connection set up, after they put the user name and password several times, the report works, but itu2019s so annoying.
Is there a way to avoid putting ODBC user name and password in Crystal Designer? Or put once at main report and pass to all subreports?

According to my understanding if we are using an odbc connection and the username and password for the database is same for the entire user, then you can just create an ODBC connection string in crystal report. Where in you will manually specify the dsn to be used, username and password will also be stored in that connection string.
So next time you run a crystal report, it would take the username and password for this connection string.
