Unless you can get the last XP driver from 2002 to install in compatibility mode, you can pretty much forget about it. That card is just way to old to get any kind of driver for Windows 7.

  • Help from Creative Labs?

Has anyone ever been able to speak w/a li've person at any Creative Labs phone?
Tried all listed, only get recording.
Has anyone purchased the extra $9.95 software for the VADo HD VF0580?
Does it allow one to make a regular video from many vacation clips?
Has anyone been able to convert all the clips that loaded into their PC as separate little videos into one place to
convert for burning to DVD? so it can be viewed w/DVD player?

If you want to do more than the included software allows, you will have to purchase a separate video editing program. ?I never thought that what comes with the Vado would do everything. The Flip software is no better, and actually worse, I felt
I think that as a service to help their customers, it would be very appreciated if Creative pointed people in the direction (through links and recommendations) to reasonably-priced software that will edit and burn their videos. I have asked at Yahoo Questions, and was pointed to this program, though I'm sure there are others - they're just hard to find at a reasonable price!
    http://www.best-video-editor.com
    http://www.best-video-editor.com/guide/edit-mp4-videos.html
I plan to purchase it. There is a free trial download, so you will be able to see if it will burn DVDs (which it states the program does) before you purchase. The price is half what the "big" video editing software suites cost, and states (as in the 2nd link above) that it edits MP4 format. I have written to ask them specifically if it will edit MP4 in HD. In any case, with the free trial you can test it without having to pay first.
    Good luck!
ETA: It works just fine. Still haven't tried a DVD.

  • 'Creative Zen V Plus' Recovery, from Creative Labs that

    Hi,
I love my Creative mp3 player, but I haven't seen it for ages. The crappy joystick needed repairing (the only badly designed bit).
I took it in to JB Hi-Fi for them to send off and they told me it would take 6-8 weeks (this was December 27).
Anyway, to cut a long story short, 3 weeks have passed and I still don't have it.
I've rung JB Hi-Fi constantly and the Storeperson tried to help me out, gave me the Creative Labs number and I phoned them.
So I rang them and a (presumabley) Asian guy answers. I am not racist but **bleep**, he was hard to understand (phones should have inbuilt subtitles). He tried to help me out and to the best of my knowledge he said they were processing my product and it would take another 2 to 4 weeks to get my mp3 player back to me (on top of the 3 weeks!)
Now you can propably see why I'm royally peeved.
What I want to know is why Creative Labs have such crap service No joke, it sounded to me like they off-sourced people's queries to other countries and in the rinkiest dinkiest places possible (the audio quality was disqusting).
    Enough ranting from me.
Anyone have a similar experience or know what I can do about it's (I'm definitely going to write a letter of complaint).
    Thanks all

First, I got a? RMA number by e-mail and sent in my Zen V Plus 4GB?(refurbished) directly to Creative by UPS on a Thursday (3/28/08)?and they received it by the following Monday 3/3/08. It was back to me yesterday 4/07/08. Very fast service, only it wasn't fixed and it still locks up my computer and my player?when I download my audiobooks. Only way to get it running again is to reset, go to recovery mode?and then do a full format. Then, the next time I try to reload the books, it locks up again at GB. Now, I am trying to get Creative to pay for shipping both ways, because they didn't fix the player the first time.
It probably would have much faster for you to have?delt with Creative directly instead of using the JB Hi Fi shop. At least yours is just a problem with the?joy stick and not the electronic parts.
    Good luck.

  • Hooking IPOD to Creative Labs external speakers

I just purchased a set of speakers and subwoofer, Creative Labs, to hook my IPOD up to; everything seems be hooked up correctly, but no sound comes out of the speakers. The Creative Labs people said they couldn't help me, that I had to contact IPOD support, which of course, is impossible. Is there some trick to this? Is there a different cable that goes from the IPOD to the input jack of the speakers? Or what the heck could be wrong??
Please help - these speakers are for a party Saturday, 8/26!!!!!

I called Circuit City, where I purchased the speakers at, some nice person there told me I had to have the volume of my IPOD turned all the way up in order for it to work. Which I then did, and it deed indeed work wonderfully. Shame on the idiots at Creative Labs who couldn't share that bit of information, and shame on Apple for not having a phone number of anyone to contact, or at least one that isn't hidden in layers.

  • My Creative Labs won't respond once turned

Today I turned on my Creative labs 20GB player and initially it played the track selections from the last time I used it. However, when I attempted to add a new album to the playlist I found that none of the buttons (including touchpad) responded. I was also unable to switch the player off. However, the player still automatically switches itself off after a certain time has passed and can be switched back on using the power button, but again I get no response when using any other buttons. The backlight still comes on when pressing a button, despite the functions not working. Can anyone please help, I'm having a crisis!

No. It just resets the "brain" of the player to cure any strange behaviour.
If this doesn't help and the player continues to be unresponsi've then it's faulty, and you need to return it where you bought it for a replacement, or contact Creative Support.

  • Creative Labs HQ-2300D Dolby headphones connections

Hi I would be extremely grateful if you can hep me with the following question. I am currently setting up my ASUS laptop for a home cinema setup and in the interest of good neighbourly relations I am hoping to use your Creative Labs HQ-2300D Dolby headphones. However my laptop has an inbuilt soundcard with the standard headphone connection (no optical connector). Will I need external soundcard with an optical connection to hear Dolby digital sound on DVD Movies through your headphones? If I do can you recommend an external soundcard with the appropriate connectors, I was hoping to purchase the Creative Audigy 2 ZS Notebook PCMCIA Sound Card but does this have the right connectors for the HQ-2300D headphones to get dolby digital?
    Many Thanks

    Can anyone help?
Would an optical cable be the correct way to get a signal from the gamer card?

  • CREATIVE LABS READ THIS MICROPHONE ISSUE PLEASE!!!

i am having the exact same problem and i'm no compu-dummy .. this soundblaster li've 24-bit card just ruined my studio i have built in my house. i have so much equipment and i can't do anything with it because of this card i just bought. i really want it to work so bad but i cannot find the solution to my problem anywhere. i have researched high and low. i have read countless.. and by countless i mean hundreds upon hundreds of forum posts on the google boards, the creative boards, music boards, internet media boards, and boards that don't even have a purpose.. of thousands of people complaining that their soundblaster li've cards WILL NOT RECORD.
to be more specific, the card plays audio fine. plug an /8" speaker cord into the audio out.. and sound comes out of the speaker. plug a mic (and i've tried 4 different mics) <EM>directly</EM> into the mic in or line in, and you get a flat-line in windows sound recorder (as well as 4 or 5 more sophisticated programs i've tried).
my system is very comparable to the systems of most people having this problem: windows XP, P4 w/ HT, former sound usage (in my case onboard.. and yes, i've disabled my onboard in the BIOS), 52mb DDRam, fx 5900 video card w/ 28 mb, DirectX 9.0, Microsoft Service Pack , and a nice little useless at the moment CreativeLabs Li've! 24-bit soundcard.
every posting (if it has a response) is receiving the same responses that we've <EM>all </EM>tried: is input set to mic? is your mic input turned up? are there audio device conflicts in device manager? have you tried reinstalling? have you tried a different mic? is your computer turned on?
myself and countless others have double checked and triple checked all of these.. it is not the obvious but it is definatly a problem if more than a handful of people are experiencing it. i tried the creative tech support number.. the rep's only idea was to return my card for a new one.. i'm sorry, i don't think it's the card.. because there is <EM>also</EM> a few thousand people that the card <EM>does </EM>work for, while at the same time mine doesn't as well as a few thousand others.. i'm not going to waste my time hiking back to Best Buy because that simply isn't the problem.. it's too common of a problem, but it is a problem that i <EM>have not </EM>seen addressed by Creative in all of my searching.
is there <EM>anybody </EM>out there who has a clue what could possibly be causing this. please don't let this be yet another posting that gets response saying.. "duuuuh.. ummm... did you press record on sound recorder?" and then the post dies out and falls into the oblivion of other posts just like it.
please for god's sake is there a moderator or an executi've or a janitor at Creative Labs who knows the solution? because please, post it so i can create a few hundred websites linking directly to it ending the suffering of budding musicians and gamers such as myself.
please, help.. i will be monitoring this post for <EM>any </EM>response. if any further information is needed, it will be posted. if you want to know the serial number of my mouse.. i will post it.. if you want to know the name i intend to give to my first born.. i will post it.. just please.. help
p.s. i registered my CreativeLabs soundcard today ( day after purchase) .. therefore i am special
p.s.s. i kick ass at music writing.. check me out http://www.internetdj.com/collapse (the comedy section is especially good :P) AND ALSO THE REASON I NEED MY RECORDING FIXED!!!

Thank you for your input, Jason.
Here is my latest e-mail from Creative who still doesn't seem to understand that we've tried the obvious.
<FONT face="Courier New">Dear Customer,Thank you for your reply. It seems like the recording source has notbeen configured. Let us try this: Go to Start, Programs, Accessories,Entertainment, Volume Control. Click on Options, Properties, Recordingand check the Microphone box. Check the box Microphone to select it. Hopefully this will help some of you, I have actually found the solution to my own problem, though it is a little twisted and doesn't seem to apply to other's scenarios. Here's what I did.
) Completely removed all Creative software/drivers
    2) Flashed my BIOS. I don't think it needed to be flashed, just resetted. But I flashed it anyway.
    3) Rebooted and installed only the Creative drivers and required software (none of the little extras like mixer or CD-Burner or any of that.. just the diagnostics tool and whatnot)
    4) Plugged my mic into Line-In (the blue /8" jack on the far right on my model), selected mic (not line-in) as the recording source.
Voila!! I'm getting crystal-clear recordings and sound! I kind of wish Creative had helped me along with this instead of sending me emails suggesting procedures i <EM>specifically </EM>stated I had already tried. But you can't have everything. A nice piece of hardware <EM>and </EM>good customer service is a little much to ask for.
As a whole. I give Creatives help in this matter a 4 out of 0. And all 4 points are awarded solely because response times from my e-mail were quite satisfactory. It just would have been nice if they had researched my problem a little more instead of assuming I was having the same problem as compu-clue-less idiots.
I will continue to monitor this forum for a while and will be glad to offer any knowledge I have gained through this past week of hell to anyone who is still having problems after trying the steps mentioned in the techs emails, and the steps I took myself.
    Best Regards!

  • Creative Labs Zen

    I just purchased the C 2GB.
This is in the list of supported player in
    http://www.oclc.org/audiobooks/techspecs/devices.htm.
I am using WMP, latest firmware .2.03.
I have downloaded audio books from Netlibrary (protected wav files).
I can open the files in WMP and real player but once I tried to copy the files (sync) to Zen player using WMP and realplayer or just right click copy to Zen, I get an unsupported file type. Same when using the Creative Suite.
I tried looking for others who may have the problem but it seems like noone has the same problem.
    MP3 Audio books sync/copied OK.
Any more ideas? (I have a Cowon D2 - synced OK - but it isn't mine)
Please help...or I might just have to return this.

I don't think I have ever seen a DRM WAV file on NetLibrary. I have only seen WMA or MP3 files. Contact them & ask if the file is supposed to be WAV or WMA. Also check that the clock on your player has the correct time & date.

  • Creative Labs Zen NX Nomad Jukebox and Vi

Hey all- Hope I can find some help here.
I recently got a new system, and it is running Vista Premium. I have an older mp3 player that I got from my brother-a 30GB Zen Nomad NX Jukebox. I have installed all of the (very old)software on the CD that came with it. However, my problem is whenever I hook up my MP3 player, it says that there isn't a driver installed. I have gone on the download page and downloaded all of the driver software and installed it, but I still have this message come up.
When I check it on my computer, it says that my player isn't connected. Any help?

Creative Labs, with their large corporation mindset, apparently decided to pursue an ill-advised Marketing Strategy by not releasing a needed Vista driver for the many thousands of Zen NX players out there. This is no doubt due to GREED, because they seem to want to be selling additional thousands of their more recently released MP3 players.
No good for them. I'm confident a huge base of professional software developers will stop recommending Creative products to their corporate base due to this arrogance . . .

  • No Standalone Creative Labs Audigy 2 ZS Drivers Availble for Downl

I bought a new motherboard today and planned on updating my system with the new hardare. I cannot find my Audigy 2 ZS drivers CD and it does not look like there is a standalone driver for this card available on the Creative Labs website.
I have e-mailed tech support and awaiting a response. I have a feeling I will be forced to pay for a new drivers CD in order to get this card to work.
Thet fact that Creative Labs has this lack of support is appalling to me. Nvidia, MSI, Intel and every other component manufacturer in my system has drivers readily available for download on their website. It looks like Creative is trying to profit from the consumer and this makes me sick, very sick.
I am about to throw this card out the window and buy a Turtle Beach.
Creative can also expect a lot of bad press regarding this issue from me.

    Ioman,
What's the model number off of the card? Also, could you get the inkstamp number from the underside of the card? This will help identify exactly which model of the card this is. Was this a retail card, or was this originally an OEM?
The reason I am asking this is that if the driver required a previous version of the drivers installed it would have given you an error stating that it couldn't find the required drivers. If it said that it couldn't find the card then it may be different problem altogether. I know for a fact (as I have installed this driver on a bare system before) that the EAX 4.0 Update will install without any other drivers installed (in fact one of the systems at my house is setup like this).
    Jeremy
Edit: SB's advice is pretty good also... except I would suggest that instead of doing a manual install via device manager, browse the extracted folder to Audio/Drivers and run the program called CTzapxx.exe (which is the application for manual driver installation). Make sure to disable any Antivirus or Antispyware software prior to running this, as they can interfere in the installation of drivers.Message Edited by Jeremy-CL on 07-4-2005 0:02 AM

  • What is the best way to hook up my Creative Labs Inspire 5.1 sound system to my new iMac?

We recently purchased a 27" iMac and want to use our Creative Labs Inspire 5.1 sound system with it.  How do we make this connection to get the most out of the sound system?

    BAgodmode wrote:
If I am not mistaken, your 5.1 came with 3 plugs that are meant to go into a regular PC. If that's the case, you should have received a Y like cable, that connects any none channeled sound source, like an iMac, and helps distribute it as 5.1. But they also make a curious USB device to help connect it.
    http://us.store.creative.com/Creative-Sound-Blaster-XFi-Surround-5.1/M/B0044DEDC A.htm
An outboard audio device, if you really want to get the max out of your 5.1.
Unfortunately that is a Windows only device:
    System Requirements
    Minimum System Requirements
Microsoft ® Windows ® 7, Windows Vista ®, Windows XP (Professional x64 Edition, Service Pack 2 or above)
    So it won't work.

IMHO, if Creative did everything asked of them, nine out of ten posters wouldn't change a bit. I have a larger problem with Vista than I do with Creative. I own an Auzentech Prelude 7., the Creative X-Fi Xtreme Platinum 7. and an Audigy 2 ZS. I got no SCP, my stuff works and works well. Just because my $#it works, hell I don't have anywhere to post LOL!? My biggest gripe is that Auzen removed the THX console, no calibration or bass redirection for entertainment mode

  • Creative Labs SoundBlaster PCI128 sound-card software prob

Blast it all! Where can I find the necessary software to make my Creative Labs PCI28 sound card work? (I hope that "Blast it all!" doesn't offend... )
    The background
I bought a used PC from a PC-idiot (a PC-idiot being a PC user who chucks out floppy-disk and CD-ROM software integral to the PC ? I will hazard a guess that there are a lot of these types out there!), and what's worse, the idiot had "ripped out" much of the installed software rather than uninstalling it properly, with the result that the PC ran very unstably, requiring a lengthy start-up procedure in order to compensate for the ripped-out files (start-up often crashed and had to be restarted). In the end I had to run fdisk and rebuild the software system. I took the trouble to save the installed Creative program under Program Files, not that this could be inserted into C:\Program Files of course, but in order to know what I should see when I eventually found the proper software and got it installed. But finding the proper software has proven to be a hard nut to crack, which is why I bring the problem up here...
My PC has two Creative Labs cards, a SoundBlaster PCI28 card (CT4700) and a PC-DVD Encore Dxr-3 card (CT7240). I found software for both (the latter only with the help of Creative Labs' technical staff) on Creative Labs' download site, but the driver application that eventually got my PCI28 card to work (some wouldn't even do that much) has snags to it, with the result that my sound card doesn't work properly. The problem is that the CL software download was only an <I>update</I>, and was also devoid of waveset files. The MIDI wavesets cannot load, so this parameter is missing from the installed sound mixer (this problem is well-known and is in fact listed in CL's Knowledgebase under the title "Error ? Can not load MIDI Wavesets, MIDI Playback has been disabled").
Unfortunately the "fix" suggested there subsumes that the user has access to the original sofware medium (floppy or CD-ROM) so that the complete program can be reinstalled. Which software I don't have, thanks to the PC-idiot from whom I bought this used PC (actually I bought it from his son). The driver-file download that works with the CT4700 (this is the only one that I found that could even come close to working), a certain <B>e28up9x.exe</B>, is only an update, as I said above, and although it is touted as a "stand-alone" application that works with the CT4700, <I>as an update, it is no substitute for the original program itself (it won't stand on its own).</I> What I need ? and cannot find ? is the original program itself.
To the matter at hand, then
In the hope that somebody out there (CL staff are more than welcome to participate!) might recognize the animal in question and can therefore point me to a relevant download, I list here the Creative folder that was installed under C:\Program Files on my harddisk before I formattted it (I will try to list the contents of this folder so that it reflects the actual hierarchy ? for example, all folders listed under a plus sign are subfolders to the main folder (or subfolder) in question):
    CREATIVE
    + CTsnd
Bitmap (contains a .bmp and a .txt file)
DOSdri've (contains a lot of exe files, most beginning with "ap": apconfig, apinit, -legacy,
    -load, -mixer, -test)
Help (full of ? what else? - help files)
Media (full of MS Media Player files ending in ".mid")
+ Program (the meat and potatoes full of exe files, a handful of which begin with "ct"
and end with "32" (before the ".exe" suffix): ctcd32.exe, ctmidi32.exe,
    ctwav32.exe, ctwave32.exe, remote32.exe, sndole32.exe, as well as some
dll files, all ending in "32.dll"
    Plugins (three dll files)
+ Product Registration (contains only the subfolder English)
    English (empty)
Share DLL (contains only one file: ctres32.dll)

Too <i>much</i> bass? I always end up turning mine up.
But anyway, to do this you'll want to do a little equalisation. Make sure you've got the full application suite for Vista (ie: not just the audio console on Creative's site):
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=0493
And then go to the equaliser in the main Creative control console. You'll eventually find something like this:
    [img"]http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/2720/equalizer2gk.png">
What this does is allow you to adjust the volume of specific frequencies in the music: the slider on the left adjusts the deepest frequency, and the slider on the right adjusts the highest.
The best way to do general equalisation is to do it gradually. Since you want to take out the bass a little, what you'll want to do is drag the left-most slider down to something like -5dB. Then, drag the one to the right of that down to about -4dB, then the next one to -3dB, etc. Once you hit 0dB you should be at roughly the middle of the equalizer (mid-tone frequencies).
If this sounds confusing, just drag some of the sliders up and down a bunch while music is playing and you'll immediately see what's happening.
Although there is also a bass and treble thing in Windows and such, all these do is adjust about fi've sliders at once. They can be pretty useful, but they're basically just watered-down versions of a proper equaliser. I believe the Creative software's bass/treble options also are unavailable in game mode.
Note that you can also bring out the higher frequencies by doing the same thing over on the other side; this will make your sound a lot crisper, and might even negate the need to lower the bass since you'll be able to hear that higher detail without turning the volume up so much.
Although there're endless possibilities with equalisation (EQ), the best rule of thumb for general use is to make sure the centre is at 0dB, and then adjust gradually outwards from there.
