Help! CS2 Ai, Psd, ImageR and InD crash on open.
I have been happily running Creative Suite 2 Premium on my iMac Intel Dual Core with OS 10.4.11.for 18 months.
Suddenly each of the major apps crashes on open with dialogue:
EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000000
I Have:
1. Cleaned and rechecked all OSX Fonts and Adobe Fonts with Font Doctor 7.6.0. Purged Font Caches and ensured Font Agent Pro 3.3.2 is switched off at start-up. I earlier resolved any Helvetica or Times conflicts.
2. Run fsck -fy and Permissions.
3. Trashed all CS2 app folders and re-installed all apps and up-dated all apps. Still the four apps crash. Can there be old preference files causing the problem?
I cannot figure out what has changed to cause the problem.
Internet references have identified update OSX 2004.11 Security Updates 2008-002 caused this problem but surely we are beyond that now.
Adobe Archive only identifies this dialogue with problems opening Quark files in InDesign so is of no help.
I would be most grateful if anyone can pinpoint the source of this problem as my work has stopped dead.
Thanks Eric,
Holding down cmd-opt-shift-control had no effect. (No dialogue
opened, just the usual EXC_BAD_ACCESS)
Tried Onyx, thank you for introducing me to a useful set of tools. I
used Cocktail previously for maintenance but this set offers more
alternatives.
Fact is on restart nothing has changed. I have bee racking my brains,
(a 60 second exercise) to try and remember what actions may have led
to this change in circumstance. Nothing comes to mind.
While acknowledging the validity of Buko’s comments, I would like to
say that originally I found no problems running CS2 in 10.4.11. I am
sure it would be slower in emulation but forking out another $1,000
for an upgrade is not attractive, and CS4 will have another set of
problems?
Fortunately I have a souped up G4 (1.8 GHz 7447A chip), onto which
which I can load CS2 and working files.
I shall strip out all CS2 from the iMac and remove all non Apple
fonts then re-install again.
If anyone has any further ideas I will appreciate your views. How
many others have met with this issue?

In Bridge when I R click on psd file and tell it to open in Photoshop it says can't find Photoshop.exe. Photoshop is running at the time. How do I teach it where Photshop.exe is?
I have sort of the exact same problem. Extremely far away from user friendly
I have an second issue as well: When I hook off all-day it comes up with an 8 hour event!
And then if I put in a late start hour it pushes end time to next day due to the 8 hour event suggestion.
All in all this gives a lot of changes just to enter an event.
Command N
I learnt from your input to use this fuction. At least that comes up with a one hour event as default. -
CS6 Photopshop, Illustrator and Indesign crash upon opening Window 8 64-bit.
Runnning Genuine CS6 Photopshop, Illustrator and Indesign crash upon opening without any error message... worked fine then stopped working. Running it on Window 8 64-bit. Have tried opening without 3d party plugins, resetting preferences, and uninstalling and reinstalling.
did you clear the caches?
and onthe off-chance that ID got far enough to leave something behind, find the InDesign Recovery folder (a hidden folder, I think, since Snow Leopard or Lion) and empty it if there's anything there.

I have an older MacBook, but the operating system and all the software is up-to-date. For some reason, out of the blue (didn't add any plugins, extensions, or download any new apps), safari started to crash every time that I tried to open it. In hunting around, I noticed that iTunes, iPhoto, Aim, software updates, and more crash in the same exact way. Firefox, Chrome, Quicktime, and microsoft office work fine. I went in and deleted all the plists and emptied the cache, but the problem persists. I also did a disk repair and reset the PRAM. I am able to use all of the above programs in a different user account though, so it has to be something with this specific user account and it's preferences. I just cannot figure it out. Any help would be fantastic. Here is the error message from safari:

Word, PowerPoint and Excel Crash when opening Files from Sharepoint Site.
Hello,
I am in the process of rolling out office 2013 company wide. I have started with a batch of test users and a few including myself are reporting various office apps crashing with opening files from our SharePoint site. Although at times it will crash outside
of the site.
I have tired running each app in various modes (Safe-mode, Compatibility mode ect) but the same results keep happening. Although it does not happen all the time on other users machines its more frequent. If i download the file and open it locally this does
not appear to happen.
We are all running Office 2013 SP1 32bit on Windows 7 Machines.
One Common issue they everybody seems to have always points to "Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\VBScript.dll". I have done some digging but have not encountered any solution that points to this file. We constantly stay current on the
latest updates from MS.
Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Due to a system issue I had to reinstall Mavericks 10.9.5, I also reinstalled all programs and apps from a backup, but was advised NOT TO copy back my old Library folder, since that was where my previous issue was.
So now some apps and programs refuse to open, what shall I do to solve this issue, without having to copy back my previous Library folder?.Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful. -
My Firefox crashes upon start up, and the crash reporter opens instead
When I open my Firefox from desktop (windows vista), the firefox crash reporter opens instead giving me the options of restarting, or quiting firefox. The samething also happens when I start in safemode, or when I Reset firefox. The only way I can open firefox from desktop is if I open it as the administrator.
My latest crash IDs are as follows:
- Crash ID: bp-85ec11ca-df68-4c34-9eb7-800f32130119
- Crash ID: bp-33a8cf2d-1be2-44bd-8265-8741a2130119

- Crash ID: bp-98a24370-1267-4caa-a2aa-90cda2130119
I would really appreciate if you could help me out with this, I simply hate all the other browsers and would hate to change to one of them.hello akhalaj, from the crash report you've submitted it seems like the crash is malware related. the malicious file on your pc causing the crash is named ''ebwlduva.dll'' (randomly generated filename).
according to reports from other users it should be detected &removed by microsoft safety scanner and kaspersky security scan. please run a scan with these products:

InDesign (and Photoshop) crash on opening for only one user
I just spent the weekend "fresh" installing all of my software and data onto a new computer (MBP OSX 10.7.5). I have CS5.5 Master Suite Install Discs.
InDesign crashes on opening ONLY in my main "standard" account (Let's call it "Rebecca"). I'm prohibited by my university from regularly *working* in admin mode, but my admin ("Rebecca Admin") account opens and saves InDesign files totally fine. I also created a Test "standard" account in which InDesign works fine. I have tried (many times, orders, and ways for each solution):
1. removing the preference files (and caches files)
2. removing the SING files
3. making my main accout the "owner" of the programs and their folders.
4. running the Adobe July mini-fix icon updater (didn't work), tried to do the same "manually" (where I replaced the previous three files that the Adobe updater inserted).
Nothing has worked.
Photoshop also works fine on my admin account and the test "standard" account, but says that I have inadequate permissions on my main Rebecca account (even though Rebecca is the "owner" now). It closes after giving me about three info monologue boxes.
I feel as though I have scrubbed the internet clean, and still have not found a solution. Any ideas?!?!?
I just spent 3 full days getting the new computer up to speed with the old one (that I must turn in), so "moving" to the test account is not a nice thought. I also don't really want to have to log into another account just to use InDesign!
Many thanks,
RebeccaFor anyone having similar problems, here is what solved the problem (that was clearly a permissions issue):
Type into Terminal:
cd /var/folders
sudo rm -rf * -

Tint2 crash (and causing crash of open apps).
Hi, first of all welcome fellow archers, this is my first post. I installed Arch (64bit) just today after some break.
I have one problem that keeps me away from enjoying openbox: tint2 is crashing after some time (10minutes, sometimes 30) and is crashing open applications too. But I can still get right-click menu and open new apps that run just fine, but panel remains freezed, I have to kill it. Same thing with avant window navigator. Can't figure out what's the issue, I'm still learning Arch.
Thanks for your time and answers. Hope I made myself clear about it.Hmm now when I killed tint2 and by right click menu I've started thunar, it became all grey when I moved it... Damn, I guess I will have to move to some fluxbox... or awesome maybe... openbox don't like me.
Or I will live without panel, only with some trayer. I like openbox too much to change.

Importing Images and iPad crashes
I am importing about 230 images from my Droid, which is being replaced Thursday by the iPhone 4, but I cant finish because the app crashes. Any ideas?
I had same problem with sd card reading onto my ipad using the camera connection kit. Photos from one camera would import ok but not from the other. I read on another forum where a guy solved it by changing the time format from 12 hour to 24 hour in ipad settings. My ipad was already set to 24 hour format so I did the opposite and switched it to 12 hour. This solved the problem and the couple of hundred photos imported straight away.
Maybe my two cameras are using different time formats, not certain as I haven't investigated further.
Hope this helps. -
I need help to draw an image and move it plz plz : )

Help with importing .raw images and b+w filters
I have recently been taking alot of b+w images. With most of these images I apply a red in camera filter. When I then import the pictures into lightroom 2.3 a color version of my picture is then rendered, without the red in camera filter that i took the pictures with. Does anyone know of a way to restrict lightroom from changing .raw images to their color version and to show them as they were taken. If it matters I shoot with a Canon 1000D. PLEASE HELP!! Thanks.
Lightroom ignores metadata settings which are what is applied when you work with RAW and use Canon's Picture Style settings.
Those will be applied to JPG, but not RAW. This is actually a feature, not a bug, because it's considered to give you more control by using the settings in Lightroom for Monochrome, and apply red tints-- plus you could always still have the flexibility of making a color print if you wanted, which you'd lose if RAW enforced the Picture Style settings. If it bugs you, shoot in RAW+Jpeg (or just Jpeg), and bring the Jpegs into LR, but I'd recommend sticking with RAW and applying the edits you want in Lightroom instead. -
Please help... overlaying images and tables
Hello.. i'm relatively new to Dreamweaver so excuse me if
this is a "duh" question.
Ok.. so i am redesigning my website, before i used Microsoft
Word. So trying to learn Dreamweaver and its tables and everything
has been very confusing, however i am coming along. So here is my
problem.. i have a Nav bar going down the left side of my page, and
in my old website i used an image for the border... the image would
go behind and i would place the buttons on top of the image..
It doesn't look like things work that easily in dreamweaver,
so i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.
Here is a screenshot of my workspace--
http://www.danwayfilms.com/help.JPG
Here is the look i want to achieve.. www.danwayfilms.com ...
as you can see, the images jumping around is 1 reason why i
switched to dreamweaver...
thanks.. please reply ASAP!!
DanHere's an opening salvo. If your previous experience with web
pages was
with Microsoft Word, then you essentially have NO experience
with web pages.
That being the case, you face a LONG and tedious uphill climb
with DW.
Without knowing anything about HTML and CSS, you will
transition from one
mysterious problem to another, all the while thinking with a
"click and
drag" mindset, and most likely eventually give up in
frustration.
The truth is that working with HTML is definitely NOT like
working with
Microsoft Word. The sooner you learn that, the better off you
will be.
Please do yourself a favor and take a week or two to just
read about HTML -
so you'll know some of the language. You can start at
http://www.w3schools.com with
their excellent tutorials.
Also, images of pages do no good. To get definitive help, we
need to see
the code on the page, since it's always the code that
determined how the
page will look in any browser....

Help with placement of images and texts
Hi there everyone, first time in this forum.
Im creating a website for the first time in dreamweaver after using other programmes and have so far created a banner and nav bar across the left hand side. I am unsure on how i am meant to add any content into the actual centre of my page as there is no box there to write in or add pictures and when i create a image or div or table they all just hug the top of my page and refuse to go next to the navigation bar like i need to it! im sure it is simple but i am finding it so much harder to use than any other programme.
Im trying to do a list of pictures and descriptions for my mums business.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!
Harrythis is my code by the way, i made it as a template and then saved it as a html.

/* Settable values for skinning a Basic menu via presets. If presets are not sufficient, most skinning should be done in
these rules, with the exception of the images used for down or right pointing arrows, which are in the file SpryMenuBasic.css
These assume the following widget classes for menu layout (set in a preset)
.MenuBar - Applies to all menubars - default is horizontal bar, all submenus are vertical - 2nd level subs and beyond are pull-right.
.MenuBarVertical - vertical main bar; all submenus are pull-right.
You can also pass in extra classnames to set your desired top level menu bar layout. Normally, these are set by using a preset.
They only apply to horizontal menu bars:
MenuBarLeftShrink - The menu bar will be horizontally 'shrinkwrapped' to be just large enough to hold its items, and left aligned
MenuBarRightShrink - Just like MenuBarLeftShrink, but right aligned
MenuBarFixedLeft - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedLeft', and left aligned.
MenuBarFixedCentered - - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedCentered',
and centered in its parent container.
MenuBarFullwidth - Grows to fill its parent container width.
In general, all rules specified in this file are prefixed by #MenuBar so they only apply to instances of the widget inserted along
with the rules. This permits use of multiple MenuBarBasic widgets on the same page with different layouts. Because of IE6 limitations,
there are a few rules where this was not possible. Those rules are so noted in comments.

negative value to this rule. Alternatively, if you use fixed-width items, you can change this left value
to use px or ems to get the offset you want. */
/* IE6 rules - you can delete these if you do not want to support IE6 */
/* A note about multiple classes in IE6.
* Some of the rules above use multiple class names on an element for selection, such as "hover" (MenuItemHover) and "has a subMenu" (MenuItemWithSubMenu),
* giving the selector '.MenuItemWithSubMenu.MenuItemHover'.
* Unfortunately IE6 does not support using mutiple classnames in a selector for an element. For a selector such as '.foo.bar.baz', IE6 ignores
* all but the final classname (here, '.baz'), and sets the specificity accordingly, counting just one of those classs as significant. To get around this
* problem, we use the plugin in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js to generate compound classnames for IE6, such as 'MenuItemWithSubMenuHover'.
* Since there are a lot of these needed, the plugin does not generate the extra classes for modern browsers, and we use the CSS2 style mutltiple class
* syntax for that. Since IE6 both applies rules where
* it should not, and gets the specificity wrong too, we have to order rules carefully, so the rule misapplied in IE6 can be overridden.
* So, we put the multiple class rule first. IE6 will mistakenly apply this rule. We follow this with the single-class rule that it would
* mistakenly override, making sure the misinterpreted IE6 specificity is the same as the single-class selector, so the latter wins.
* We then create a copy of the multiple class rule, adding a '.SpryIsIE6' class as context, and making sure the specificity for
* the selector is high enough to beat the single-class rule in the "both classes match" case. We place the IE6 rule at the end of the
* css style block to make it easy to delete if you want to drop IE6 support.
* If you decide you do not need IE6 support, you can get rid of these, as well as the inclusion of the SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js script.
* The 'SpryIsIE6' class is placed on the HTML element by the script in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js if the browser is Internet Explorer 6. This avoids the necessity of IE conditional comments for these rules.
