Help! CS3 has stopped working

I get an error message from windows vista premiumm home.
It just says: Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. The only option is a box that says "close program". Once you close it everything goes away. It doesn't even give you a hint of what the problem could be. I installed creative suite 3 web premium on this brand new computer about 2 weeks ago. This is a first time install of this software, but when I called Adobe they said they don't offer free installation help anymore on cs3 because cs4 is out now. Anyone have a clue what I should do? I can't just uninstall photoshop, if I try it wants to uninstall all 8 programs.

try resetting the preferences, per this FAQ:

Oh, and I have a Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended.

    You'll probably going to have to uninstall, then re-install the application; but you need to provide a lot more information;

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working: A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.

I recently purchased a new desktop computer and installed Adobe CS3 Master Edition on it and I get the following error:
Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working: A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Out of the entire suite of tools only Photoshop will not launch. The weird thing is i also had the same Adobe programs installed on my laptop and I have not made any installation updates to that machine and i am getting the same error. I have always installed the same software on my two home machines with no problem until now. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andy

  • Windows 7   " Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working "

Okay let me stir up a whole new kettle of fish WINDOWS 7 VS CS3 PHOTOSHOP.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 64bit. I am running (or trying) CS3 Master suite. Most all progams function except Photoshop. I try to load it and I get "Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working" and then there is no fix and no help. Photoshop ran on Vista 64bit just fine.
I'm curious if anyone else is having this same issue? If so have you found any clue as to the issue?
I get the feeling this could be a conflict with a windows 7 update or something?
    Any fixes?

Try right clicking on the PS CS3 icon and run as admin. I can tell you that people have a lot of problems in running PS CS3 in Windows 7 and had to download the Windows XP virtual and run CS3 in virtual mode.
Anyways here is a link to the suite forums. They may have a better answer there for you.

  • Adobe [program name] CS3 has stopped working....

I am attempting to run programs from the Adobe CS3 suite on my laptop, which runs with Windows Vista. My Adobe CS3 programs all show the "Adobe [program name] CS3 has stopped working" message, followed by a brief attempt to fix the problem by windows. Until this morning, the programs had been running without incident for several months.
Does problem sound familiar? What can be done to solve it?

Lots of things are known to cause issues with the CS3 installer, including besides the obvious antivirus and spyware scanners and firewalls things like iTunes, instant messengers, browser helper toolbars like the Google Toolbar, and previous versions of the Flash player, which I would have thought would be removed by the clean script, but there is a tool here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2
Also, be sure jscript.dll is properly registered. It won't hurt to do that again. Click Start > Run and type regsvr32 jscript.dll with the space, but without the quotes, and hit enter. You should see a dialog saying it was successful.
Click Start > Run and type MSconfig and hit enter. Disable all non-essential services and all non-essential items in the startup items, particularly anything to do with Anti-virus, spyware protection or third party firewalls, and then reboot. You can hide all Microsoft service in the services tab of MSconfig to make it easier, and most of whats left will be non-essential, though if anything looks like it has to do with your DVD drive or your mouse youll want to leave it checked. Its probably safe to turn off everything in the Startup tab, but again, if you recognize a mouse driver, leave it on. MSconfig will run as soon as you restart the computer and if everything seems OK, just cancel for the moment.
Be sure the Windows firewall is disabled. Third-party firewalls should have been disabled in Msconfig. Other things that should be disabled include any instant messenger, iTunes, and Google toolbars or similar from other vendors if you run them.
Be sure Java is enabled in the browser, and that you have a default printer (LOCAL - can be fax viewer if necessary) online.
After the installer runs, reboot, and when MSconfig starts change it back to "Normal Startup" and reboot again.

  • "Program" CS3 has stopped working"-Has anybody had this issue before?

When I launch any of my Adobe CS3 software, I get a message as follows:
"Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I tried resetting preferences, restoring my system to an earlier date, removing and reinstalling the software, and nothing has helped.
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium.
It is a licensed version of CS3.
Please help. I am dead in the water here.

    Hi,
    Have you updated CS3?
    Go to help/Updates
Try to run it in Administration mode

  • ITunes Helper Module has stopped working

I just downloaded the new version of iTunes and now iTunes and Quicktime wont open at all. When I click on iTunes or when I first turn the computer on, a window pops up that says the iTunes Helper module has stopped working. Then another window pops up right after that says "iTunes has stopped working". It checks for a solution to the problem and then says "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." When I try to open QuickTime, it says "Runtime error! Program:C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QuickTime Player.exe This application has requested the RunTime to terminate it in an unusual way." I have Vista which seems to cause problems with the firewall and iTuens, so I turned off the firewall from my security software, switched on the windows firewall, and made sure the settings were right. I even tried doing a System restore to the previous version (same problems) and then tried reinstalling the new version (Still same problems). Anyone have any suggestions?!?!

    hey stess,
I have the exact problem you have. I tried deleting (went into program files and deleted the folders ) from my system and reinstalling it. It worked until i rebooted my system, I am still on xp. The restore doesnt help either. It cant be my ipod ( its quiet old!) as it isnt even connected to my system at start up. I think maybe a bug with the new version that will eventually have more and more users affected when they update. I f i find a solution I will post asap... good luck

  • Illustrator CS3 has stopped working

My Illustrator CS3 has stopped working, it won't load or open in Windows Vista.  I lost my disc in a move so can't try to reload it, if I purchase the upgrade to CS5, will it be able to perform the upgrade?
I get the error that something is wrong and Windows must close the program and will notify me if there is a solution when it's opening, I don't even get the program loading image on the screen.

    Jacqueline,
My Illustrator CS3 has stopped working, it won't load or open in Windows Vista.  I lost my disc in a move so can't try to reload it, if I purchase the upgrade to CS5, will it be able to perform the upgrade?
Every upgrade is a full version, so you just need the CS3 serial number which forms the basis for the upgrade.
I get the error that something is wrong and Windows must close the program and will notify me if there is a solution when it's opening, I don't even get the program loading image on the screen.
Probably something more fundamental has been lost, so the obvious solution would be to uninstall and reinstall using the Clean Script, http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html , but that requires the disc(s); I believe it should be possible to get a replacement (through download) if you contact Customer Service and tell them about the missing disc; that will require the serial number as well.
Before you do any of the above, you may (waste some time and) try to Move the folder

  • HELP!! Photoship CS3 has stopped working

Just purchased a new laptop that runs Windows 7 and yesterday Photoshop CS3 was working fine.  Today it gives a message during the start up that it has stopped working and Windows will close the program and notify me if there is a solution.  Any thoughts on what the problem is?? The only think I have done on this computer since using Photoshop last was attempting to install a printer that was also not compatable with Windows 7 so it did not work and I uninstalled the driver.
    Paul

Sounds as if the failed printer install may have left something behind...  Does anything show up in Devices & Printers?
Since it's just recently you did this, perhaps using the System Restore facility to revert the system to a restore point prior to the attempted printer install would be prudent.

  • Please HELP, "iTunes has stopped working" error after connecting iPod video

People please help me out!  I have a Razer Blade gaming laptop with Windows 8 64bit.
I have an iPhone 5, iPad 2 and an iPod video (80GB).  I had some weeks from not connecting the iPod to my computer, but this morning that I did so I can upload some new music to it, iTunes just crash, I get the "iTunes has stopped working" error message when I connect the iPod video.  I do not have this problem with either the iPhone 5 or the iPad 2, when I connect these, iTunes works fine, once I connect the iPod, then all goes down
Procedures that I already tried and that were unsuccessful to solve the problem:
    Uninstall Quicktime
    Uninstall iTunes and reinstall
    Reset the iPod (several times)
    Delete TEMP files on computer
    Restart the computer (several times)
Use a different cable and a different USB port
The iPod is working fine, if I plug it to my car stereo or if I use it with headphones it works great, no problems nor errors.  My computer also identify the iPod as a hard disk, no error messages from Windows, it is just the freakin' iTunes that freezes everytime that I plug the iPod
PLEASE HELP ME OUT, I've searched forums on this particular issue but with no luck.
    Thanks very much!

It is only when I attempt to add a song to my iPod once plugged in that I receive the error "Itunes has stopped working" and forces me to exit the program, without the song being successfully transferred.
Do you have the "Convert to 128 kbps AAC" preference enabled for syncing to the iPod, laur?
If so, it's quite plausible that you've got the iTunes 10.1.0.54 bug and we need to get you updated to 10.0.1.56 as per the following document:
[iTunes 10.1 for Windows: iTunes may stop working and need to quit while importing or syncing audio|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3591]

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working

Photoshop was working yesterday, but now I'm getting this message:
    "Adobe Photoshop has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I have the same problem. A Vista machine that's been running CS3 for several months now gives that useless error message for PS and with DW it just does nothing. I didn't spend a load of money on a product only to find I'm locked out for no reason and just wasted 2 hours uninstalling and reinstalling only to find the same problem.
This machine is used for little other than web design, no new products added recently, possible Microsoft Vista patches and Kaspersky AV updates. Closing Kaspersky makes no difference.

  • HELP Mail has stopped working

On my G3 Tower, my mail account has stopped working. It says it can't communicate with the host. But, I haven't changed anything about my wireless network and my browsers are working just fine. I also have a G4 laptop and all is fine with the mail function. I've tried taking the .mail file out of the preferences file and copying it to my desktop. It gives the same error. Any ideas how to fix this??
    Thanks

    Hi Adnan,
The Mac OS X 10.4.7 Update introduced connection issues as a result of (according to the documentation) "Mail now supports connecting to mail servers through a SOCKS proxy". If that's the problem, you must go to System Preferences > Network and disable the SOCKS Proxy in the network configuration used to connect to the Internet, if it's enabled.

  • CS3 Has Stopped Working and Won't Reinstall - HELP I can't Work!

Hi, I have CS3 running on a Windows Vista 32 bit PC with 4 gig of
RAM, dual core processor. The other day I went to use Photoshop and got the
message that the product had stopped working. This turned out to be the case
with all of the apps. The solution dialog would not run from the
window.  So I completely uninstalled, ran CS3 Clean Tool (all with virus
software off) and have attempted three times to reinstall (from desktop), but it
keeps coming back and telling me that Acrobat 8 installed successfully and
Shared Components installed successfully, but for each of the other products it
says "Component install failed". It also says that for Shared Components, even
though it says they installed successfully.  It never askes for a product code
    or key.
Since CS3 isnt current Adobe wont support.  Help, I need it for work and cant
    afford to upgrade!

    Arrowmaster,
I think I can help you--I got help from Mylenium.  I have a Windows Vista 32 bit core duo and I have CS 3 Master Collection and it stopped, too.  I think the problem was a Windows Update that put things in the registry.  The clean tool and the uninstall from the control panel will not affect the registry.  I followed these exact instruction VERY carefully and I got a clean re-install and can work now.  Here is the adobe page I used--you need to find a time period of 8 or more hours to get this to work--last step is to update your software which in my case took several hours because it had been over a year since CS3 stopped for me.
    Here is the website:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/400/kb400658.html
Good Luck - after 13 months of trying everything this solved it.
