Help - Deleted Safari from my MacBook!

Hi All,
I searched and there were a couple posts about this, but I can't resolve this. I deleted Safari from my MacBook. Yes, it is gone (not just off the dock). I tried to see if I could re-install it with the CDs that came with the computer, but it isn't in the applications list. If anyone can help, I would much appreciate it.
Thank you so much!

Thanks. I read about that Tiger DVD. The only thing I received with my MacBook was the 2CD software package. I tried to do a custome install, but Safari was not in the list, whereas things like Dashbaord, Photo Booth, and GarageBand were. Don't understand that. I love Safari and am going to be really bummed if I can't get it back.

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

I have purchased a new iMac, with Safari 5.0.5, but it won't retain bookmarks, I thought I can download a new Safari from Apple. So I deleted Safari from the application folder.
Then I tried to download Safari from Firefox but after finish download, what I got was a dmg file, with a pkg icon (an opened box) and it can't be installed. Same with Google Chrome.
My question is: how can I download Safari? And will it retain bookmarks?

Reinstall Safari from the Optional Installs.pkg on your Mac install disc that came with your iMac. Or in your case, you use Pacifist to extract the Safari app from the .dmg file.
    To bookmark a webpage:
Go to the webpage you want to bookmark. If you use tabs, you can open multiple webpages in tabs to bookmark them as a collection.
Choose Bookmarks > Add Bookmark, or Bookmarks > “Add Bookmarks for These Tabs.”
Type a name for the bookmark or collection in the dialog that appears.
Specify where you want to keep the bookmark or collection. You can add it to the bookmarks bar, the Bookmarks menu, or to a collection if you have created any.
    Click Add.
To add a bookmark quickly, click the Add button in the toolbar, or drag the webpage’s icon from the address field to the bookmarks bar.
To see your bookmarks, choose Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks.
In the future, rather then deleting an app, come here and ask for help first. More times then not, you will save yourself time and trouble.

I have deleted iPhoto from my MacBook Air. When I try to reinstall it, itunes tries to charge me. Is there a way to reinstall the old version for free?

depening on what OS you're running you should be able to reinstall it without charge since it's part of the operating system. if running 10.6.8 or earlier you will need to use the applications install disc if there is one or if you only have one disc you can put it in and do a reinstall of the OS which will put the iphoto back on. if running 10.7 or 10.8 can sign into the app store w/ the same apple id that is associated w/ the mac and it should show in your purchases for you to reinstall it. you may need to click on the accept button if it appears next to the iphoto in your purchase listing.

  • How do i delete programs from my MacBook Pro

how do i delete programs from my MacBook Pro?

Most apps may be simply deleted to the trash; all have a small file in ~/library/preferences associated to it, e.g. company.com.name-of-app.plist, may or may not be deleted. Some apps have their uninstaller, if their creator is scrupulous (some are not), if they spread files all over the system.
There are apps targeted at deleting other apps, I have been using AppZapper, but there are some other free solutions, see other comments. Do NOT delete Apple apps, they belong to the system, even if installed later.

Deleted safari from powerbook G4 15in running OSX 10.5.8 how do I get it back

Did you just delete the Safari icon from the dock? If so, bring up Finder, choose applications, and drag the Safari icon back to the dock.  However, if you really deleted it (dragged it to the trash and emptied the trash) ... you can download it from the OS X 10.5 Leopard install disk, using the optional installs. After clicking on optional installs, click on applications, and choose Safari.

  • Help! I have somehow deleted safari from my mac!!!

Somehow I have dragged Safari from the dock and onto the desktop without it disapearing in a puff of smoke.
As the icon was still showing in the dock I dropped it in the trash and later emptied the trash.
Now I have no Safari and am having to use real player to access the internet.
What do I have to do in order to get it back?
Have I also lost all my bookmarks?

As posted above by jpfresno, the correct way is to use your installation disk. The procedure is outlined in the Apple page here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301229
If you have lost your installation disk to do this, there is a download for Safari at Rapidshare http://rapidshare.com/files/16056640/Safari.zip.html However the last time I posted this it was deleted so maybe that way is not allowed officially. But it works.

  • How do I delete "Other" from my MacBook Pro?

    Hi all,
I really hope you can help me.  I am looking to delete a degree of my "other" from my MacBook Pro.  I understand some % of other will remain to do with notes, contacts and alike, however as you can see from the picture attached it's taking up 31.33GB of other which is really frustrating.  I have tided up all my files, backed up to an external hard drive and deleted trash (all the simple things) it's still reading high.  I have no idea why my apps GB is high as its the standard Mac stuff I don't download apps to my laptop so a little unsure.  movies and audio I understand.
I am ok with computers however not fluent with some of the behind the scenes and terminology, so I would really welcome some advice/help with someone who can help but explain in laymen terms so I can get my head around it.  I have deleted out of date and old back ups to the laptop and kept the recent one and that reduced it by 2BG!!
I have tried a disk utility sweep but its all codes and files names which I have no idea what it means and don't want to delete something thats important.
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
    Kind regards and merry christmas.
    Jo

When you open OmniDiskSweeper, you should see a menu like this,
Click on the gray HDD icon that represents your internal HDD, usually named Macintosh HD.
You then should get a display such as this (it will take several minutes to complete)
Click on the categories that exhibit the largest space used, usually USERS.  That will generate a new display in the next right hand column and keep doing that until you can start identifying individual files that may be candidates for transferal to an external HDD or deletion.
In regards to Grand Perspective, try downloading it from here:

    Ciao.

  • I accidently deleted Safari from my iphone, where and how can i re-install  the app

I accidently deleted Safari app from my iphone. Where can I find the app to re-install it?

You didn't delete Safari. Built-in apps cannot be deleted.
Maybe you restricted it. Settings > General > Restrictions, make sure Safari did not get turned off.

  • How do I store photos on an external hard drive and then delete them from my MacBook hard drive

I am sure this info is on the support site.  But I can't seem to find it.
I want to move photos and movies (I'm using iphoto '11, 9.1.3) from my Mac Book hard drive to an external hard drive.
What are the steps to take to move the photos and movies, and then safely remove them from the MacBook Pro hard drive?
As an aside, are there any suggestions on external hard drives that work better with Mac (brands, size, Firewire vs USB, etc).
Nothing sophisticated.  They're family photos, so they are important to me.
    Thanks
    AS

Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive
The faster the connection the better,- Firewire or USB II would be the best
THere are many good ones - I like Other World Computing products or Apple products

  • Help deleting things from Icloud

How can you delete items from your Icloud using your laptop to free space on your Ipad?

Nothing in iCloud takes up storage capacity on your iPad except for the items that are already on the iPad. iCloud is a backup for your iPad, its not a storage drive in the cloud. If you want to make room on the iPad go to Setting>General>Usage>Storage. You can delete apps, but if you do, you delete the data as well. You can delete movies and TV shows. Most movies and TV shows can be downloaded again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID. And they are the biggest space hogs on the iPad anyway.
You do not need your laptop to do this. But it would probably be a good idea to backup your iPad and transfer purchases into iTunes before you delete content in the iPad and then you don't have to worry about downloading them again, since all of your content will be in your iTunes library.

  • Help! safari freezes my macbook

    Hi,
everytime I open safari it causes the pinwheel icon to show up and freeze everything running on my macbook. No other browsers nor applications do it but safari. The only way i found to stop it from freezing and unfreezing continously, is to go to the dock and force quit it the minute eveything unfreezes. It is the latest version of safari...please help me fix it...i really like safari and cannot stand using chrome this long....

    Hi,
Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left then open the Library folder then the Safari folder then the Extensions folder. If you have any Extensions installed, move them to the Desktop. Restart Safari. If it doesn't crash, then move one Extensions back at a time, test Safari.
Just in case you inadvertently installed the Community Toolbar, check these folders.
/Library/Application Support/ Move the Conduit file to the Trash.
/Library/Application Support/ Move all of these files to the Trash: SIMBL/Plugins/CT2285220.bundle
/Library/InputManagers/ Move CTLoader to the Trash.
/Library/Receipts/ Move ctloader.pkg to the Trash.
/Library/ScriptingAdditions/ Move any Conduit / CTLoader related files in that folder to the Trash.
/Users/<User name>/Library/Application Support/ Move Conduit to the Trash.

  • I need help deleting songs from my new iphone.  The songs don't show up in library, they're unchecked and I've synced only the checked songs, but they're still on my brand new phone.  I've swiped my finger to the left, and that doesn't work.

They have the icloud symbol beside them.  Does that make a difference?

    Hello Jensones,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with music on your iPhone 5s.  It sounds like you're seeing your iTunes in the Cloud purchases.
The items you see with the iCloud icon next to them are purchased songs that you can stream from iTunes in the Cloud and do not have a delete option because they are not actually on your device.  You can hide all these songs in Settings on the iPhone:
Just show music that’s been downloaded from iCloud: Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music.
These steps are from the iPhone User Guide:
    iPhone User Guide
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph6e2dfb83
If there are just specific songs you would like to hide, you can hide them using the iTunes Store on your computer:
    To hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
    Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking on Music, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from top.
Hover your cursor over the item you want to hide.
You will see an "X" either to the right or left top corner of the item.
Click the "X" to hide that item. A confirmation dialog will appear once you click the "X."
Once you hide the songs on your computer, I recommend quitting and relaunching the Music app on your iPhone.  You can find more information about hiding purchases here:
iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
