Help Deleting a OD Group Email That Won't Go Away

I seem to have a ghost and I could use help finding it...
There was a Open Directory Group that at some point an admin checked to enable the "Mailing list" for this group within Workgroup Manager (might have been back in 10.4). This group has since been deleted from OD yet the email group persists....somewhere. Do you know where? I sure don't.
Sometime after this group was deleted it was recreated but as a Mailman mailing list that effectively had the exact same name and that is when we started to notice that messages sent to "[email protected]" were not going to everyone included in the Mailman mailing list. Further investigation proved that the Mailman list was working 100% and that the messages simply never were received by Mailman. Yet, the messages were getting delivered to some users on the list. I realized after a month of this that it was being delivered to the users who were included in the old OD group. We have since deleted this Mailman mailing list and it is truly gone but the ghost list persists.
I've searched everywhere I can think of to track down this mysterious mailing list so I can purge it completely.
Besides just poking around the file system on both the mail server and the OD server I tried searching the directory using dscl but found nothing.

We have a work in progress of moving accounts over to a new Kerio Mail Server but note that the problem pre-dates the introduction of this server into our network environment.
Here's a little bit about the servers and network:
- Master, Xserve intel, Server OS 10.5.8, DHCP, DNS, AFP shares, a few home directories
- Apple Mail Server, Mac mini, Server OS 10.5.8, stock server install w/ cyrus, Mailman, postfix, etc.
- Additional mail server - Kerio Mail Server 6.7, Xserve intel, server OS 10.6.2, just Kerio
Here's some example log entries that tells me the message is going through our current primary mail server and not some other server on our network:

Hi
If I've understood correctly deleting users and/or groups from WorkGroup Manager does not delete associated Mailboxes. You could try:
http://osx.topicdesk.com/content/view/46/62/
Most of us here over the years have favoured SirAdmin (rather than cyrusadmin) which works with 10.3, 10.5 and 10.5.

  • Emails that won't go away...

Anyone having problems with mail? I erased two emails and the trash bin, then when i shut down the iPhone and after turning it on again, the same two emails and the trash bin contents are still there. I've verified that there are no new messages waiting on the server... tried this three times with a reboot after the second test, and still the same emails come back with the trash contents full...this is happening on the other emails accounts too.
    Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem but it is one email in particular. It was an email with a 25mb attachment.
I have deleted it from the server but i cant get it off my phone after approximately 50 attempts.
This is driving me crazy, anyone have a fix?
    Thanks

  • Help required with pop up window that won't go away

I need to re-configure my network settings, but when I access 'network' in 'system preferences' a pop up window appears that states 'Your network setting have been changed by another application'. When I click 'OK', the window just re-appears and I cannot therefore access the network window. Help!

    Look at this link. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9372513
    I did BDAqua's suggestion
To stop the pop-up, Go to System Preferences: Security. Check the box next to "Require password to unlock each secure system preference." Then lock Security.

On my settings, there is a number one (red) that won't go away.  There are no updates that need to be done.

  • When I try to go to the app store, I have a popup for a game that won't go away.  I can't get it off the screen. Suggestions?

When I try to go to the app store, I have a popup for a free game that won't go away.  I can't get into the app store.

This happened to me twice lately.  I finally got around it by double tapping the home key to go back to the homepage finding the app store that was running and flicked  it up to get rid of it.
When I went back to the App Store the Popup was gone.

    I FIXED IT.
The issue was a folder name.  For some reason, a folder was name Fersions when it should have been called Version.  I have no clue why it was named that way, but I named it correctly and the error disappeared.

  • HT4059 I have a "call out" window that won't go away.  It's there no matter where I go in iBook, my library, all my books etc.  what can I do about it?

I have a "call-out" that won't go away.  It's there no matter where I go, or what I do within iBook, be it my library, or other books.  How can I get it to go away?

Have you tried turning your phone off and back on?
Reset the phone hold the home button and the sleep button in until the phone turns off ignore the "slide to power off" message and keep holding the buttons, the phone will reboot

  • When I touch the email icon there is a draft email stuck on the screen that won't go away if I delete or save it.  I've already tried deleting and resetting the email account which didn't work.  How do I get rid of it?

I have the new iPad 3 and every time I touch the email icon there is a draft message stuck on the screen that won't disappear even if I touch save or delete.  I've tried removing the email account and putting it back on which didn't work either.  How do I get this draft to disappear?

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Or Quit the mail app.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button.
Go back to mail and see if it is fixed.

  • I got a big red X on my iPod that won't go away! Help!

So yes, l do have this big red X on my iPod (l'm thinking this is like red ring on an Xbox 360), and no matter how many times i reset it, it won't go away.
I'm thinking this time is no trick, it's messed up. What can i do?
    - l did try and connect it to my computer, but it resets, and shows the red X again. It's not even showing up on iTunes, so i can't restore it.
    What should i do?!
    - It also shows the website "www.apple.com/support/ipod", and when i go there,
    it does nothing for me.

  • How do I get rid of expired rental movies that won't go away

I have three rental movies, one from September, that have viewed and/or the rental period expired. The movies say expired on the iTouch and won't play. They won't go away and their are consuming disk space. The don't show up in iTunes.
How can I get rid of them?

    Hello Bob,
    Try this:
    1. Open iTunes and have the device attached.
    2. Click on the iPod Touch device (whatever you named it) in the left hand panel.
    3. Click Summary.
    4. Check "Manually manage movies and music".
    5. Click the drop down arrow to the left of the iPod Touch icon.
    6. Click Rented Movies.
    7. Try deleting the unwanted movies again.
    See if that helps.

  • Safari Hijacked and Certificates that won't go away.  Malware?

Four times over the last 4 or 5 months "something" hijacks Safari and freezes it.
The first 3 times I was in Google.   I clicked on a site, it would freeze Safari and I would get a message from an unrelated website telling me to call a number for Apple Support which was not Apple.
Each of those 3 times I called Apple Care and they went to Finder>Library> Cache and removed files from Launch Agents, Launch Daemons and Plug-ins.  That removed the problem.
This time I was in Words With Friends when a Certificate popped up for the website Secure.RubiconProject.Com.   I spent over an hour on the phone with Apple looking for bad files.  None were found but we couldn't get rid of the Certificate and Safari was frozen.   Also, WWF would keep crashing Safari.
The Apple guy had me install a 2 week free trial of Web Root antivirus.  It found some problems which it took care of.  When I went back to Words with Friends the Certificate popped up again but this time I clicked on it since Web Root would tell me if there was an issue.
The screen was blank but since then: 1.  No certificate and 2. an error message that was always across the top of WWF about having to reload the page was gone.  When I used Firefox to work on this problem with Apple, I would keep getting a message that said Firefox would not direct this to another page and I had to click an OK button.  That is gone.
I don't know why I keep getting this issue since each time it is different.   I told Apple guy that I had read that Apple doesn't need antivirus and in fact they can cause more problems than they help.   He said Apple has a Firewall but nothing for malware which is become more and more prevalent.  There are threads here about not needed anti viruses but I'm at a loss.
I have Apple Care for 2 more years but I don't want to keep calling them if I can find a solution to this.  I'm not tech savvy.   I would like an antivirus that is a one time fee.
    Advice please?

You may have inadvertently installed adware. Eradicating it is simple and you don't have to download or install anything to fix it.
Although adware relies upon deception, it does not get installed without your consent, and "anti-virus" utilities cannot prevent users from willfully installing garbage. Only you can do that, by recognizing adware's appearance, which is constantly changing as adware authors constantly attempt to thwart automatic means of detection.
For an explanation or how this may have occurred, how to avoid it in the future, and for Apple's recommended solution read How to install adware.
Webroot is garbage that won't help prevent adware. Uninstall it. Be sure to follow its uninstallation instructions.
I have Apple Care for 2 more years but I don't want to keep calling them if I can find a solution to this.
You should call them, as often as necessary. AppleCare is a service you paid for. Let them work for you. I suggest you express your displeasure regarding their inept recommendation to install Webroot. OS X's software firewall is also completely irrelevant to your concern.

  • Ghost Rental in my IPOD Video Library...there's a video that I rented that won't go away...how to remove?

I rented a video on my ipod, watched it, and now it won't go away.  I can't rewatch it either.  When I sync, it is not on the computer as far as rentals.  Can anyone help me remove this?

See if you have enabled 'VoiceOver'…
Open Apple Menu > System Preferences > Accessibility, select VoiceOver in the sidebar list, disable that if it is enabled. You may also see a keyboard shortcut listed there (e.g. cmd+F5), it's possible you hit that accidentally

  • Help! Random blue screen appears and won't go away also getting glitches.

    Hello,
So recently a blue screen has been randomly appearing taking up the whole screen, it won't go away until I hold down the button that turns laptop off. My screen has also been glitching and just now a glitch took up the whole screen then my background dissappeared to be left with this blue screen. Please help, I can't afford a new laptop!

That is odd and I'm not savvy enough to tell you what it means. But I'd venture a guess that you're in some kind of a debug mode. Again, a wild guess, but perhaps if you created a new admin account and log in with that, maybe the more (if that's the issue) will go away?
I'd start up in safe boot mode first and see if that helps. Maybe it's something running in your startup items?
Have you Googled the phrase? You might find something on a more technical Mac site that way? I just Googled <<event sysontoc>> and came up with a few leads you might want to check out.

  • "Draft" that won't go away

An email, that has been sent, keeps showing up in my Drafts folder, in both the Apple Mail program and in the mail on iCloud.
I never saved this as a draft, I may have paused while composing it, but didn't save it as a draft.
I've deleted it numerous times in Apple Mail, went online to iCloud mail right after that and it was not there, then this morning I went to iCloud mail and it's there.
How do I get rid of it for good?

I thought I fixed it. At work I went into iCloud and deleted it. It did not come back.
At home, I opened Mail and I don't recall seeing it.
Then I did other things on the computer after quitting Mail.
I just turned on Mail to check one more time. It was back.
Without deleting it, I went to iCloud, and it was there, too.
I deleted it in iCloud and it disappeared from Mail at the same time.
Before I switched to iCloud I used to get bogus drafts in Mail if I lingered over writing an email. I assume it had something to do with the syncing involed in MobileMe.
