WEP is not at all secure and can cause connection problems like this.  Switch to WPA or WPA2 (by changing your router settings) and it should work.

OK, well, things are not quite ready for prime time with Lion and this printer .
Here is how to do it:
    1. On the front of the printer, click the Wireless button, scroll down to Wireless Settings then Restore Defaults.   Restore them.
    2. On your Mac, connect to a wireless network that begins with "HP-Setup...."
    3. Open System Preferences > Print & Scan and add a printer with the '+' sign at the bottom of the list of printers.
    4. Find your printer and click Add.
    5. Now, back on the Print & Scan page, with the 3050 highlighted, click on Options & Supplies, then on Show Printer Webpage
    6. On the resulting page, click the Network tab, then start the Wireless Setup Wizard.
    7. Start the wizard, connect it to your network by choosing it then typing the password.
    8. When the printer verifies that it is connected to your network, close Safari and then close Print & Scan.
    9. Connect your Mac back to your regular wireless network.
Now, when you first try to print something it will take a while to find the printer, but it will eventually connect and print.

  • Deskjet 3050 J610 Wireless Setup Problem - Thinks I'm using MAC filtering

I just got an HP Deskjet 3050 J610 from my parents, who have never used it.  The ink cartridges were still in their wrappers.  Trying to set it up tonight, and everything was going well until I tried connecting it to the wireless network.
My router does not have WPS, so I'm having to do this via USB.  The software is able to detect my router's SSID, encryption type, and password.  However, when trying to connect the printer to the router, it fails.  The Wireless Network Test Report claims that it might be because of MAC address filtering.  I double checked my router settings, and I am NOT using MAC filtering at all.  I have not yet tried rebooting everything (Printer, laptop, router), but I am doubtful that will resolve the issue.  For security reasons, I would prefer not to say what security I'm using, but I will say that it IS supported by the printer.
I'm using Windows 7 on an Asus laptop, and my ISP is Verizon Fios.

Hi Manjunath, I spent the last hour on that site.  Everything I found was about how to add the printer's MAC address to the router's filter settings.  But I repeat, I am NOT using MAC filtering on my router, but the printer thinks I am.
    Or rather... THOUGHT I was.
Rebooting the printer and the router helped.  Of course, I did both at the same time, so I'm not sure which one was required, or both, but the long and the short of it is, it works now.

  • HELP WITH HP DESKJET 3050 PRINTER WIFI!!!!

    Hi
We have a hp deskjet 3050 but we can't print. The blue light for wireless is flashing on and off.
    Can anyone help?

OK, this is a router issue, not a printer issue.  Let's try WPS again (no USB cable connected).
    - Unplug the Internet line that runs between the router and the wall
    - Turn the power off on the router, wait 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
    - Now start WPS on the printer then the router (within 2 minutes of each other).  It should connect.
    - Finally, plug in the Internet line, reboot the router.
Now, run the software on your computer and it should find the printer.

Our new wireless printer will not scan.  I have tried to scan from the computer and get the below error message and then I have activated the scan from printer and when I push the scan button on the printer, I get the same error message.
    Thanks!
    Product Name: HP Deskjet 3050 J610 Printer/Scanner/Copier
    Operating System: Windows 7
Error Message: The HP Deskjet 3050 J610 series was not found - when trying to scan.
    No changes made to system

I had some problem. I found you must use HP 'Update IP address' program to add printer instead use window add printer.  All programs -> HP ->HP Deskjet 3050 610 series -> Update IP address.

  • AIO Remote wont recognize my network printer deskjet 3050

AIO remote app (IOS) did not recognize my network printer (Deskjet 3050), other apps (printer pro lite) did recognize the printer flawlessly, both the printer and the iphone are in the same network, I can print from my PC and my mac but not from AIO remote app (not even recognize the printer).
    Can you help me?

    Hello MrCrysis,
With the Printer Pro Lite app working to printer, this is excellent to hear. Although this is not an HP app. So to explain as to why the AiO Remote app is not recognizing your printer, and not being able to scan. Your printer does not have AirPrint capabilities according to the 'HP Deskjet 3050 (J610) and 3050A (J611) All-in-One Printer Series Product Specifications'. AirPrint is a requirement for the HP AiO Remote app to work, and because the printer does not have AirPrint the app can not see the printer.

  • Printing problem with HP deskjet 3050 all in one J610 series

I have a HP deskjet 3050 all in one J610 series which I am using with Windows Vista Version 6.0 (Build 6006: Service pack 2).  Connecting is by USB port.  I have not used the printer for some time, but have done all the maintence checks & it is good to go.  When I want to print a letter the only thing that gets printed is the email address which is coloured blue.  I think the problem is in the settings of the printer features.  I can print the letter in gray scale but this is not easy to read and not suitable for business dealings.
I would appreciate help with this problem.  A definition of the terms used in the printer features might help me resolve it by my self.

  • Deskjet 3050 J610 will not install on Mavericks or new Router

I have had a deskjet 3050 J610 for a couple years and it has worked fine with our MacBook Pro (with the exception of updates) .  We recently restored our MacBook and added Mavericks.  We also have a new netgear modem/router.  We can not connect the printer to our network or to the laptop wirelessly.  Here is what has happened so far after spending hours attempting everything we could find online with no sucess......
-I can print from the Mac with a USB cable connected to printer
-I've restored the printers default settings
-Printed the HP Network Configuration Page and it shows our Network
It says my HP printer cannot find the access point.
Everything passed except network name found....this failed
    Network status-Offline
embedded web server-http://0.0.0.0      I can't even get to the webpage
    network name (SSID)-HPJ610a.0798A0
    ip address-not applicable
The blue light for wireless flashes on printer.
When I go to Wireless Menu it says wireless radio is on.
My next option is Settings, Under Settings I have Disable, WPS and Defaults.
Under WPS I get Push Button or PIN......neither worked.
Printer DOES NOT have a wireless setup wizard!
I have checked for updates on the Mac and do not have any (Original CD not compatible with Mavericks).  When I go to System Preferences-Print/Scan, it shows the printer as disabled.  I tryed downloading software & drivers from HP's website, but when I go to my Applications menu, there is not an HP folder/icon.
    PLEASE HELP!!

    Hi,
Currently a full feature software is not available for your products for Mavericks, however there are some other workarounds to connect the printer to your network.
Please follow these steps to create a temporary ad-hoc connection and then set the wireless connection through the printer's EWS page:
On the printer click on Wireless, then select Reset Wireless.
Turn the printer Off and back On.
If the wireless light is not blicking, click the wireless button and turn the Wireless Radio On.
From your Mac click the Wireless icon and then on Join Other Networks.
Click on Show network and connect to the printer SSID which includes J610 as part of its name.
Note: Allow 1-2 minutes to fully establish the temporary connection.
Open Safary, then click the Bonjour menu and select the listed Deskjet 3050.
Note: if there is no Bonjour option at the top menu, click Safary > Preferences > Advanced and check both of the Include Bonjour options at that screen. click OK and the Bonjour menu will appear.
Go to Network / Wireless and follow the Wireless Setup Wizard to connect the printer to your home network.
On your Mac click the WiFi icon and reconnect the Mac to your home network.
Now both your Mac and the printer are connected to your network, go to Printers & Scanners and add the printer by clicking the plus sign.

  • Deskjet 3050 J610a - Unexpected wireless connection problem.

    Running:
    MacOSX 10.7.4
    HP Software: HP_Lion_Ink_SW_v12.13.17
Printer: Deskjet 3050 J610a had been working perfectly through wireless connection from a
MacBook5,1 Intel Core 2 Duo, while I had been using HP Software HP_Installer_DJF4100_v9.7.1, that was *not* meant for this printer, but I could 'ADD" the printer Deskjet 3050 via System Preferences, through HP Socket,
Looking [unwisely] for a more "functional"  configuration, I looked up HP support and found that a specific software had been released for computers running "Lion".
So I uninstalled the previous DJF4100 software, restarted the computer, and installed the new software and drivers for Lion as indicated above.
Now the printer Deskjet 3050 J610a shows up in the computer's network under 'Devices"  as
"HPJ610a.047DED", Network Type:Computer-to-Computer. It is also detected with "
Security:None", whereas my whole home Wi-Fi network is encrypted with WPA/WPA2 Personal.
I could of course regress to the previous software and configuration, but before doing that I would like to understand why this new software that has been released by HP for Mac computers running Lion is behaving in such a way, why the printer shows as a stand alone device (which it never did before).
As I said, before I regress to the previous configuration, using a software that originally is not the one required by the printer, neither by the computer's operating system, I welcome all information and suggestions.
    I need that wireless connection!
    Thanks in advance.

  • Installing HP Deskjet 3050

I downloaded and installed the driver for my printer, HP Deskjet 3050. It installed sucessfully. However, when i try to print, the printer is not listed in the print dialoguue box. When i try to add it through System Preferences, the printer is found, but i get a message that it already exists and do i want to create a new printerl. It suggests i now have it added 5 times, but it still does not show up when i try to print. When i go back to system prefernces, the print/scan setting says there is no printer.
I don't know what to do to find where the printer is. Any advice please?
    Thanks

    Hey @GP5,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're encountering an issue when trying to print from your Mac OS X 10.8 Operating System to your HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One Printer as your Mac indicates that the printer has been 'added' 5 times to the computer but never appears in the Print dialogue window. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. It does sound like there is an issue occuring with the CUPS system within the Mac. The CUPS system is the print system built into your Mac. If there is an issue within the Mac print system your printer may not appear or function properly on the Mac. Therefore, I am going to run you through some standard Mac troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue with you. Can I please have you follow the steps below.
Step 1: Reset the Print System:
To start, I am going to have you Reset the Print System on your Mac as it is important that we have a nice clean slate to work with for troubleshooting. Please click here for instructions on how to perform the Reset. When the website opens follow the steps under 'Resetting the printing system in OS X Lion.' This Reset will remove every printer from your Mac. However, it does not uninstall the printers. Therefore, should you use other printers on this Mac, once the Reset is complete simply ensure that the printers are connected via a USB Cable or Network connected and (+) Add them back in. Do not add your HP Deskjet back in at this time.
Once the reset is complete, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Uninstall Drivers and Software:
Next, please click here for steps on how to properly uninstall your printer. Once the site opens select the dropdown for 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8, and OS X v10.9' and follow the appropriate steps to complete the uninstall process.
Once the uninstall is complete, please continue on.
Step 3: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    Go to the Utilities Folder
    Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
    Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
Step 4: Check for Apple Updates:
    Go to Apple
    Select System Preferences
    Select Software Update
    Click Update Now
    Install your available updates
    Restart your computer
Step 5: Reinstall your Software and Drivers:
Please click here to download the driver for your printer
Once the download is complete please follow the onscreen instructions to reinstall your HP Deskjet
Once your Deskjet has been successfully reinstalled please test printing again to verify if your printer now appears as per normal.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!
