HELP! Device Transfer Wizard messed up new phone's files!

Hello! I'm new to the forum. I just got a Bold 9700 today. I upgraded from a Curve 8900. I plugged my old BB into the Desktop Manager and hit the Device Switch Wizard and everything seemed to work just perfectly but when I looked through my new BB I noticed that a lot of the "new" features seem to be missing. For example there's supposed to be a folder called Instant Messaging (I don't have it). Also, there's a bunch of duplicate games and apps, etc that were present on both devices and if I try to delete the old app it deletes them both. I'm considering wiping the new phone and starting over. Any advice before I go through the trouble? Thank you in advance!

There's no problem wiping the device, but a Security Wipe likely won't remove those duplicate apps, etc.
Likewise, the SDW probably didn't remove your Instant Messaging folder.
I'd just recommend taking some time to clean up the duplicate icons, delete those apps and reload the ones you need.

I have a large library of music on my iphone 5s. I have just upgraded to iphone6. I believe I need to have all my music in my itunes library to transfer it to my new phone - however all I can see in my itunes library is music I have purchased recently. This library of music is from years ago. Ho can I get all my music on my new phone ? Thanks

See turingtest2's user tip on Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.  You should, however, maintain your library on your PC and maintain a regular backup of it.  iPhones are neither designed as nor suitable as data storage devices.

  • I recently upgraded to a new iPhone.  Everything transferred except my photos.  Can I retrieve my photos from iCloud and transfer them to my new phone?  My old phone has already been transferred to a new user.

Did you restore your iCloud backup?  That should recover camera roll photos.

  • Transfer funds to a new phone

Very important: How do I transfer funds from a lost phone to a new one? Less important: And if I eventually find my old phone, will I be able to reactivate it? Its been gone for about 4 months now.

  • ICloud and transfer of data to new phone

I recently subscribed to iCloud.  Do I still have to back up purchases of songs, etc., or will the iCloud take care of this?  Also, I am going to replace my iPhone 4 with an iPhone 5.  How do I transfer all of the songs, etc. to the new device?

Your purchased media such as songs and apps are automatically "stored" by iCloud in the sense that you can redownload them at any time (provided they are still available in the iTunes and App stores), as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.

  • Itunes won't transfer my music to new phone the way it used to.

I replaced my 4s with a used 4s that was wiped clean when I got it. I restored from cloud to my last backup and it's all working but it didn't include music (not sure if it should have). When I try to manually transfer music by connecting to my itunes on the computer (using usb connecter) it says I need to "erase and sync" because the phone is already associated with an itunes account and list's the same one I'm using I think, the same one used with the old phone. It does say something about that account being on "(my son's) computer" but I belive it's the same since the old phone had been my son's and we have always used the same itunes. Will I loose everything including all the apps and settings I just re-set up by letting it do this? Will it effect the library in Itunes at all? The phone didn't have any music on it at all after setting it up with the last backup restore. But I have noticed that at some point while trying to set it up and move music from itunes a few (and I mean very few) songs were added. I'm not sure when or why and I can't figure out why nothing will transfer now. I don't even seem to be able to transfer ring tones onto the new phone. I'm sorry this is so long and I'm sure basic but I have been looking all over for the answer or something about this "message" and haven't been able to find anything and wanted to include a. I've learned the hard way not to just let itunes take over and start erasing things without knowing what will happen!

My photo's are all copied and backed up I just don't really want to have to go through loading them all back again. The same with my apps. I have never used itunes for apps or pictures or anything other than music. I use the cloud for backups and have a home network drive for all of our document, photo backup and storage. I just want to know before I find out the hard way if by doing this I will have to spend a buch of time getting all of that stuff back on the phone again. Given I just spent time doing this I would probably wait to put music on it if saying yes to itunes request will mean having to do it all over again.
Again the only thing in my itunes is music I don't use it to backup the phone and I just spent a chunk of time loading the apps and settings...along with cleaning some stuff up and loading some photo's and stuff that weren't on the other phone yet. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough about what I was asking or concerned about. I'm new and inexperienced with the iphone and itunes but not stupid...exactly why I'm asking the question, so I don't do something stupid I'm sorry for.

  • IPhone 4 - transfer all content to new phone?

    Hello,
My iPhone 4 was accidentally dropped in the sink and was exposed to clean water for a second or two. I immediately fished it out and dried it off with a towel. The phone (screen, buttons) was working, though the sound was no longer working.
I switched the phone off and followed advice to cover the phone in rice to draw out the moisture. It's been covered for 24 hrs, I am waiting another day or two before I dare to switch it on.
I am worried that even though the phone seemed to be working, it might be damaged and suddenly stop working. I want to get a new phone, same kind.
The old one was backed up via iTunes to my laptop.
My question is: if I get a new phone, is there a way I can transfer everything that was backed up from the old phone to iTunes, to the new phone?
I am talking messages, pictures, music, contacts, notes, the works, like a replica.
    If yes, how?
    Thank you.
    Kind regards

  • Transfer iTunes accounts to new phone

I have a new iPhone 4s that I acquired from a family member. I cannot use my iCloud account for my  new phone because it is associated with another account. I also would like to use my present iTunes account with this phone but cannot do it.
    Please help.

    Hey jinasapple88,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like your family member has not set the phone to factory settings before giving it to you. If possible, I would contact your family member and ask them to follow these steps:

  • Can I transfer PDFs on Adobe Reader to a computer or my new iPhone5c. I had some important ones on my old iPhone 4 and thought they would be saved when I backed up my phone so I could transfer my apps to new phone. However they did not and apparently I wa

Is there a way to transfer PDFs that are in a Adobe reader app on iPhone 4 to a computer or iPhone 5c? The old phone has already been deactivared.

PDF documents are not "in a Adobe reader app"; they are just files stored on your device.  You can transfer them as you would any other files.
If the device is still active, you could upload them to https://cloud.acrobat.com/ to share with other devices, but if it's deactivated you will probably need a cable or similar connection.

  • Transfer SMS messages to new phone

How do I transfer text messages from Nokia 6230 to my new phone Nokia 6280?

Take a backup of your old phone using Nokia Pc Suite, and the restore the data on the new phone, while restoring, it would ask you what all you want to restore, select messages and your messages would be copied on the new phone.

  • HT1212 my phones touch scren is no longer able to be used. i am trying to sync what i have now on there so i can transfer it to my new phone when i get it. how do i do that when i cant unlock it?

my phones touch screen isnt working. im trying to sync everything to my laptop. since i cant unlock my phone, i cant sync it. what do i do?

The tip that you were reading when you posted this was about forgetting the phone's passcode. If that is what has happened the only way to recover data is already described in that tip, by restoring the phone on the last computer you synced it to. If it is asking for your passcode then you are not using that computer. The only option is to restore the phone from Recovery Mode as a new phone. All content will be lost. If you have an iCloud backup you can then restore from that.
