Help! Disc Stuck in iMac!

I have a iMac blueberry 333mhz, and a CD is stuck in the slot. I've read through this area and have tried the following but with no success:
1.Restart with Mouse button held down
2.Open firmware and type in eject CD
The drive makes a whirring sound as if it is trying to eject the disc, but it doesn't come out. Is there a hole that I can put a paperclip in to eject the disc?
Are there other ways to get the disc out?
Thanks for any help!

Hi Kathy
Apple tells you to put RAM in through the little door - that's why it's there.
Just open the door, held the RAM carefully (without touching the gold strips) and press it into the slot untill the 2 tabs click in at either end. Then try and pull it out. If it doesn't come out it's in and seated properly. Takes about 30 seconds.
The other reeason for the door is to fit an airport card and card adaptor.
It's only the battery where you are told to open the computer up. Although there are quite a few on the list who say that it can be done through the door, it's very easy to break the battery holder getting the old battery out if it is reluctant to come out.
If you check the help files for upgrading your mac it should show you how to add more memory.

I insert it into the mac, but the OS cannot load the disc and the disc cannot be ejected even i pressed the "eject" button.

I then inserted it slowly into the drive notch down and slowly pulled out. I did this few times and caught the mimi-cd and removed it. The drive has worked flawlessly for several years
A few days after this happened I was in BestBuy and an Apple rep was there displaying new Apple products. I asked him about it and he said they have a tool that ***** it out.

  • Disc stuck in DVD drive

    Hi
I have a disc stuck in my drive. When I eject its stats to come out, sounds like it gets wedged, then goes back in again. Is this as serious as I fear and is there an easy way to get the disc out without resorting to striping out the drive.
    Many Thanks

  • 2 DISCS STUCK IN MY MACBOOK DVD DRIVE, PLEASE HEELLLPPPP !!!

I hope someone can help me, I had a DVD in my MacBook already, and my little girl stuck another one in there thinking it was empty, and now there are 2 discs stuck in there and my MacBook won't eject or anything. Does anyone know what I can do ?
Any ideas, please help me, I had this thing fully customized and it cost me an arm and a leg so now Im totally heartbroken.
    HELP !!
Thank you in advance to anyone who replies.

You will have to take the computer to an Authorised Apple Repair Center so that they can remove the 2 discs, it will require your machine being taken apart and could cost quite a bit in labour hours.

  • Can anyone help me get my iMac to reboot?  I get a gray "curtain" over the start up screen saying I need to restart my computer but it won't restart.  I just keep getting the same message every time.

Can anyone help me get my iMac to reboot?  I get a gray "curtain" over the light gray start up screen with a message that I need to restart my computer and to hold the power button until it powers off and then press the power button again to restart.  It just does this over and over again and won't restart.

Yeah, as necronym stated, it is a hardware issue and more than likely a RAM problem. Disconnect everything from the computer except keyboard and mouse and try again. If it still happens try removing one and/or swapping your RAM sticks over. Keep trying until you have eliminated all possible combinations. Just put a mark on one RAM stick so you know what have tried. If it still fails to boot properly you should probably replace your RAM, but that is no guarantee of success. Have a look at this link for more info on a Kernel Panic.

If you have a considerable photograph and/or movie collection you may want to consider off loading those to the EHD too. Here are Apple's article showing how handle iTunes & iPhoto libraries.

Yes, because the startup disk is read from the boot rom, not the Hard Disk.

As this is the forum for PPC (pre-2006, non Intel) iMacs I assume that is what you have.

Hi. Ejecting a stuck disk in my MacBook has been a bane for me often, and more recently last night. You are probably aware of the many ways to eject a disk, but I'll list them here as well. In desperation I managed to discover another method this morning...!
These methods are listed in order of first use, all the way up to deperate measures:
    1. press the eject button on the keyboard
    2. drag the disk to the trash
    3. if it is a movie I am playing, then I can press eject on the DVD control. But you must have stopped the play of the DVD.
    4. click on the disk icon on the desktop and then go to File, select eject disk
    5. click on the disk icon and then press the Apple key and "E"
    6. go to Disk Utility, click on the disk you want to eject, and eject it
    7. reboot MacBook and before the grey screen appears make sure you are holding down the Trackpad Button. This method can be useful for disks not mounted; so can point 8.
    8. Resetting the PRAM. Shutdown, and before startup, press the following buttons: P, R, Option, Apple key.
    9. if you are technically minded you can open Terminal and type in the following: "hdiutil eject -force /dev/disk1" Replace the word "disk1" with the name of the offending disk
I do each of the above, hoping that one of them will work. However, on this occasion none of them worked. This last method is unorthodox, but hey, it worked!
    10. Carefully and slowly tilt the MacBook till the disk drive is pointing down, so that gravity may assist a disk to leave. Then click one on the many eject methods.
    It worked for me!
Hope one of the above works for you.
    PS.
I should probably still get Apple to have a look at my MacBook though...

  • Mini Disc stuck in CD player & printing question

I have a mini disc stuck in the cd player. I've pushed eject multiple times, but I don't think that it reads that it is in there. Is there any other way to get it out?
Also, how do you "print selection" like on PCs?

Mini DVDs _are not compatible_ with slot-loading optical drives like the one in the MPB. Some users have reported success in extracting mini DVDs from the optical drive by inserting a business card with double-stick tape at the end, then pressing the eject key, and carefully pulling the disc out. Else, you may need to visit an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for repairs. These will not be covered under warranty.
Print selection is application-dependent. Some apps (e.g. Microsoft Word) support that feature (there's an option in the print dialog box), others do not.
You can take a screenshot of part of the screen (Command-Shift-4) and print that.
