Help, Discoverer Viewr Error 404

Hello, I have a problem.
When I starting Discoverer Viewer\Plus (http://host.domain:port/discoverer/viewer) with httpServer,Agent etc. started appears error:
HTTP 404 Page not Found.
but the page http://host.domain:port appear correctly!
Why ?
Excuse me for my English!
Thanks a lot.

One of the cardinal rules of programming is that EVERY character counts. Spelling mistakes and typos cause your code to fail. You say you put the code in myApps but you are calling it from /myApp/ .
The same goes for spelling of "sorry" and "please", they are not spelt "sry" or "plzz", ever, if you are careless with your use of English, you will have a very hard time with J2EE, it's far more particular than I am. This is even more important if English isn't your first language.
And you must have a web.xml, if not, that's your problem. If you have one, please post it.

What web server are you using, if it is OHS then the online will be automatically configured and redirect to the help located on the Oracle website.
If you are using a different web server or want to run the help locally have a read of - Configuring Online Help to Run Locally

  • "Help" error 404 in Dreamweaver CS6

I have just purchased Dreamweaver CS6 after more than twelve years of web-site development using NetObjects Fusion and hand-coding.
Conscious of the step-up in possibilities offered by CS6, I am keen to learn as I go (un-learning my existing bad habits too).
Sadly, at the first hurdle, I tried to click on "Help" on the first page and had Error 404 returned.
I have been looking at the excellent tutorials, but thought all the promises of seamless integration would not trip up so soon.
My default browser is Firefox - is that the problem?  I don't trust IE which keeps falling over.
Any help would be happily received!
    NigelHS

    Hi Nigel,
    Welcome to the Dreamweaver forum.
Having used NOF for several years, I know what you're going through.
First, define your local site folder.  Go to Site > New Site.  Tell DW where to find  the folder containing all your site files.  This is an important 1st step, otherwise DW cannot properly manage links and assets for you.  See screenshots.
You will probably want to define your remote server settings too, but you don't need to do that to work on local files.
Root directory is where your hosting provider told you to put your files.  This varies by host.  The directory could be public_html, www or htdocs.  Some hosts don't use a directory in which case you should leave this field blank.
Run a Test.  If you can't connect, click on More Options:
Chances are you will need to re-build your site with CSS layouts and cleaner HTML code.  Initially, I used Find & Replace to strip out all the old NOF proprietary tags, inline font styles, tables, etc...  It's a tedious task but well worth it in the long run.
Finally, validate your code with the W3C validation tools and fix all reported errors.
         Code validation tools:
              CSS - http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
              HTML - http://validator.w3.org/
    Have fun!

  • Cocoa Error 404 -- what happened? need help!!

After accidentally deleting a subfolder within the "Google" folder in my user related account, the Safari version 3 (the latest one, before the beta 4) stopped loading the gmail.
it kept on saying Cocoa Error 404. Operation could not be completed. (Cocoa error 404.)” (NSCocoaErrorDomain:404)
I tried to undo the damage with replacement of the entire Google folder, including re-installing the folder from old copies (using Time Machine). I tried to re-install the Google Gears in Safari. It didn't work.
I also tried to install the new Safari 4.0. I tried to reset everything, emptying the cache, etc. Nothing worked.
However, despite this problem, Safari loads other Google functions fine (Calendar, Reader, etc). And Firefox still loads Gmail fine. I wonder what could be the cause of Safari's problems?!
    Need help, thank you!

i sovlved my own question: the guilty party in question is the Google gear plug-in for internet plug-ins (i deleted all the Google plug-ins). it solved all problems. amazing.

Help page won't display if browser has language different than English
Symptom: From Cisco Unified CM Administration, click 'Help --> Contents' or 'Help --> This page'. A new page will be opened but producing HTTP Error 404. This happen if the browser has a language other than English US If GUI does not have localization for those pages, we should anyway point to the English version rather than producing an error, as it happens in earlier versions (5.x) Conditions: CCM 6.0.1 Administration web page. IE 6 with language other than English US
Workaround: From IE Tools --> Internet Options --> Languages, remove the different language or leave it there but move English US on top. Further Problem Description: The page opened with languages installed other than Engish US, will point to URL: https:///Help//ccm/index.html where can be en_US (English USA), no (Norwegian), etc. If you instead use the following: https:///Help/en_US/ccm/index.html it will redirect to the following one and it's working: https:///Help/en_US/ccm/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/frameset.htm - It does nott happen from Serviceability, OS or DRS. From there the URL point always to the URL with 'en_US' - It does not have regression: on CCM 5.x the URL is different and does not include localization - Reproducible also with browser different than IE (e.g. Firefox)
    Hope this helps!

all website went "Not Found HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found." and the "Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can" page is not helping in any ways

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

in your previous thread you already mentioned you had poor internet speed, this could be your issue here also.

  • (Pleeeeeeez HELP) HTTP Error 404

I installed Business Object Enterprise XI using a  fresh installation (using IIS ASP.NET as  WCA) and I can not open anything. All pages gives me HTTP Error 404.
I added aspnet_isapi.dll to the allowed extensions in IIS. I have .Net framework 2.0 installed on the server & IE 6.0 SP2. I'm not sure if this installation will install another framework and use it.
    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP.

For top level URLs (such as www.isp.com), the first possibility is that the request for your site URL has been directed to a Web server that thinks it never had any pages for your Web site. This is possible if DNS entries are fundamentally corrupt, or if your Web server has corrupt internal records. The second possibility is that the Web server once hosted the Web site, but now no longer does so and can not or will not provide a redirection to another computer which now hosts the site. If your site is completely dead - now effectively nowhere to be found on the Internet - then the 404 message makes sense. However if your site has recently moved, then an 404 message may also be triggered. This is also a DNS issue, because the old Web server should no longer be accessed at all - as soon as global DNS entries are updated, only your new Web server should be accessed.
For low-level URLs (such as www.isp.com/products/list.html), this error can indicate a broken link. You can see this easily by trying the URL in a Web browser. Most browsers give a very clear '404 - Not Found' message.
Provided that your Web site is still to be found somewhere on the Internet, 404 errors should be rare. For top level URLs, they typically occur only when there is some change to how your site is hosted and accessed, and even these typically disappear within a week or two once the Internet catches up with the changes you have made. For low-level URLs, the solution is almost always to fix your Web pages so that the broken hypertext link is corrected.
Could it also be the webuser account access rights?

  • Error 404 -- Not Found, when a Servlet is invoked from browser

Obviously, I have not been able to configure my WebLogic Server 5.1.0 to run
              even the simplest servlet.
I painstakenly went through all the steps that are listed in the WebLogic
Server 5.1.0 documentation on the Web to enable servlets, but obviously, I
              have missed a step somewhere.
I have modified the weblogic.properties file as per all the instrustions,
but the server simply won't recognize any servlets, not even the SqlServlet
that came with the server as an example.
It would require more than 1 exchange of posts to resolve it for me, and I
am wondering if one of you is willing to work with me on this until I have
managed to configure the server to make a servlet work on it.
The server does function as a Web server as I can run the index.html
document by entering the URL: http://localhost:7001/index.html
I am pasting the contents of weblogic.properties file below to get the
person who is willing to help me started.
The machine I have is a Pentium III with Windows 2000 Professional on it.
It's a home machine and the WebLogic server is the freely downloadable
version. I am using it to prepare for a potential contract work.
I have managed to modify setEnv.cmd file and have managed to compile the
SqlServlet.java, which is an example servlet. Neither this particular
servlet nor a HelloWorld type of very basic servlet I have written are
              recognized by the server.
As you can see from my weblogic.properties file (pasted at the end of this
post), the SqlServlet has been registered. I have also uncommented the lines
to allow for the following type of URL:
              http://localhost:7001/servlet/myServlet
              Thanks!
