Help disk mode won't go off

so today i turn on my ipod and disk mode came on, i thought oh out of battery so i charged it. it is still on disk mode how do i get this off?

Resetting the iPod should get it out of disk mode.
To reset, you switch the hold switch on, then off, then press and hold the menu and center buttons until you see the Apple on the iPod's screen. That should happen in about 6 to 10 seconds.

It has already been 6 days from your post, my apology for responding so late, but it is my habit to help only the leftovers, which the other contributors missed.
Toggle the hold switch make sure there is no red showing.
To reboot an iPod. (Or RESET in Apple iPod jargon)
Press Menu and Center button for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON , this would not erase any data from your iPod.
I would advice you to leave the iPod charging for about 4 hours, if it has been discharged for 1 year or more, and also Apple recommends that you charge the iPod at least once a month, to prevent a discharged battery leakage, which may corrrode the circuitry in the iPod.
Hopefully you don't get the dreaded RED X on the iPod screen.

PLZ Help. PC won't turn off because of EAX Mod

Help! Ever since i installed my X-Fi Fatalty, when I go to turn my computer off, it says now ending EAXModule. After that, the computer won't turn off, but I can't do anything because it says the window station is shutting down. It is very annoying because all my settings aren't saved and I have to turn the computer off manually.
My system:
Athlon 64 4000+ OCed to 2.64 GHz
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
2GB Kingston Hyper X
2 MSI 7900GT's in SLI
50GB Western Digital Raptor
Creative X-Fi Fatalty
Antec 550 Watt PSU

I'm also having a similar problem now, however, if I wait a minute or two the system does shut down. I'm using an ASUS M2N32 WS Professional board, with the my X-Fi Platinum card in the second PCI-X slot; I couldn't get it to work at all in the board's one PCI slot, and the first PCI-X slot has my RAID card in it (Areca ARC-0). My GeForce 7900 GTX is in the second PCI-E slot, since it's too big to fit in the first and leave room for the RAID card.
For all that, the sound card, video, everything seems to work perfectly except for this problem with the EAX module at shutdown. It's very annoying. I've tried stopping CTDetect from running at startup, I've tried completing the registration. Nothing seems to work, but I want my Creative applications. Any ideas?

IMac in Target Disk mode won't mount on Mac Pro via Firewire

My iMac (intel Core 2 Duo) won't start up - it has the question mark in a folder icon.
I can't find the Apple Snow Leopard disk, so I've started it in Target Disk mode, connected it to my Mac Pro, but it doesn't mount on the Mac Pro even though it appears in System Profiler on the Mac Pro.
Both running 10.6.8
Can I force it to mount? I have tried front & back firewire ports and restarted several times to no avail.
I'm hoping to repair the iMac disk using Disk Utility or Diskwarrior on the Mac Pro, but need it to mount first.

I want to copy everything off the iMac before re-installing Snow Leopard & starting again.
I do not have a backup of the computer (I've had a backup hard drive on order for 7 weeks that has been delayed due to the shortages...) I am aware that this is very stupid of me.
The disk is obviously in very bad shape as Disk Utility can't do anything with it.
Diskwarrior v4.2 on a DVD will make a 'Preview' of a directory of it, but will not 'Replace' the directory as the disk is damaged.
1. Does anyone know how to make a startup DVD of Diskwarrior v4.4 (I have the v4.4 update but can't find out how to make a new startup DVD using the old v4.2 DVD and the software v4.4 update) and I think Alsoft must now be on holiday as they're not answering... (I would like to use v4.4 as it should be more capable).
2. Assuming I can get Diskwarrior (hopefully on a new v4.4 DVD) to make a 'Preview' again of the iMac directory, how do I copy everying off the computer? My only guess is to connect my Mac Pro in target mode to the iMac. Will the Mac Pro disk show up in the 'Preview' directory & therefore allow me to copy all of it's contents across to the target mode disk?
3. Assuming all the above works, is there a best way to copy all of the iMac contents to a folder in the Mac Pro? i.e. is there a way of Carbon Copying it so that after wiping the disk I can simply copy it all back? Or is it all too late for that

So, I tried to restore my iPod to the factory settings via iTunes. It has been a few days now and its still stuck in disk mode telling me "Do Not Disconnect" and it only charges on my laptop. I tried hooking it up to a wall mount to charge and than it told me that I need to use iTunes to restore it. Here's the thing, it won't leave disk mode and its not registering on my iTunes. What can I do to get it back to normal,

help recently after trying to restore my ipod to factory settings, I then tried to update all my songs on itunes and it stopped halfway and my pc crashed. Then trying to update the songs again i fund my ipod was in disk mode after trying to reset it again a picture comes up with a little file and error sign. It cant be restored as it says cannot mount ipod and my computer doesnt seem to recogise it on i tunes. please help I have no clue what to do

We are in the same position with the words "service error" when trying to restore it.

Using DVD drive in iMac G4 for iMac G3 in Target Disk Mode-- won't read DVD

Hello,
I have an iMac G3 without a DVD driver. I'm trying to use the DVD driver in my other iMac G4 using the Target Disk Mode feature. But when I start the iMac G3 holding down the option key, it only lists the hard drive of each computer and not the DVD that I'm trying to install.
I have done my best trying to search on here to no avail. I also posted this same topic in the iMac G3 forum without any success. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried doing FTDM with a different DVD/CD in the iMac G4's drive?
Have you ever changed the Optical drive in the iMac G4?
Try disconnecting both machines from the mains power for an hour or so. This has been known to reset the FW ports (I accept that this is probably not the issue as the HDDs are working; no harm in trying though).

IPod: Folder icon -- Disk Mode -- won't mount on desktop or iTunes

Hi all.
I'm getting a folder icon with ex point on my iPod (see my pic for version). Reset doesn't work. The solution to that is to restore but when I plug into my computer it doesn't show up so I can't restore. Then it goes into "Disk Mode."
Anyone have any ideas?

What about the Hardware? I had a similar problem with my iPod 10G scrollwheel not mounting in Finder or being recognized in iTunes. I read all these posts, did the powerdown/uplug thing to reset the FireWire port, refreshed settings, etc., all to no avail. Then the iPod wouldn't even take a charge. In digging around for repair options on the web, I discovered a site where they said that the #1 killer for scrollwheel iPods was faulty connections on the FireWire socket to the main board. With all the plugging-in and unplugging I did trying to get the iMac to see the iPod, my connector now would slide a few mm forward with a light pull. More searching revealed someone who described how to DIY fix the connector, so I figured I'd try it and ... TA-DAA. Back to life, hello iTunes6, life is good. If you are up to the task, check out: homepage.mac.com/toj/PhotoAlbum20.html for step-by-step pictures. PDAsmart.com gives the details about the bad FireWire connector, and does a fix for $50. Be advised the soldering is on fine pitch surface-mount pins, so you need a steady hand and patience.

Target Disk Mode won't see my dvd

Hi,
I have a iMac (2011, Mac OS X 10.7.4) with the dvd of Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) in it, that is in firewire target disk mode.
This one is connected to a iMac G4 Flat Panel (1ghz, 1,25 SDRAM, Mac OS X 10.4.11) to install leopard on it.
Now my iMac G4 can see my hard drive of the new iMac but don't see any dvd/cd/...
anyone knows a solution for this?

I know Apple added 128+ GB support to the ATA bus halfway through a model, but if this is the older version, why does it report the higher number in some placess?
Your G4 533MHz machine is a G4 (Digital Audio) model. Native large drive support for drives larger than 128GB was not added until the second model series (the 2002 models) of the QuickSilver machines.
I suspect the differences in reporting have to do with what OSX is capable of 'seeing' and its attempt to tell the truth, vs. the hardware limitation of the built-in ATA controller.
Re the FwTDM problem, be sure you are using an Apple keyboard, or one which specifically supports standard Mac OS startup commands. Not all 3rd-party keyboards support those.

Disk Mode won't go away

My I-Pod Nano is frozen, the top line, right next to the batter icon, reads "disk mode". Below that is a big check mark, and at the bottom, it sais "ok to disconnect. It is frozen and I can't do anything. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!

I have a similar problem. Have tried 5 Rs on two different Macs -- I suspect the next step is to replace the Ipod. Any other ideas?

Help! iPod won't turn off! Stuck in 'Do not disconnect' mode.

I plugged in my iPod to update it and charge it. My computer told me there were connection issues. I tried rebooting my computer and the iPod never shut off. At that point I disconnected it from the computer and my iPod by itself will not shut off. I tried putting the hold button on and off, moving the wheel....nothing!

You need to either the let the iPod finishing syncing with iTunes, or figure out what application is still using it in the back ground that prevents you from being able to properly eject the device. Just unplugging it from the computer is almost always going to cause issues when it's still in use by iTunes or another application.
So let's connect the device to iTunes one more time and let it finish restoring. Then try syncing a bit of content over to it and wait for it to finish the sync process. Then try to properly eject it from iTunes this time.

Application disk image won't eject off the desktop?

Lately I've been having this problem with either Firefox or Safari and I download something and the dmg extracts and I'm left with the white casing shell where the app is housed and it won't eject. I can't eject it from finder but dumping it to the trash from finder took it off the sidebar. I can't get them off my desktop unless I restart my Mac.
Why is this happening and how do I fix it? I'm using Leopard 10.5.2.

Thanks to DeltaMac I figured out all the problems I was having with my Finder. I was missing a lot of options under my Finder tab like Empty Trash, Preferences, Quit etc. Also I had no option to right click and eject disk images or external hard drives.
All you have to do is download Onyx here: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/20070
Then open up Onyx and go to OnyX/Parameters/Finder
put a check in the box next to Show Preferences item, Show Empty Trash, Show Quit item, and Show Eject item and whatever else you want. You have to do them each individually though and wait for the prompt. Then item log out and back in again and everything should be back to normal.

Help! Ipod won't turn off after disconnecting

Okay I've had my Ipod nano for like 3 weeks. I've used it once. It worked fine when I first got it and after my battery ran out I haven't used it for about a week. When I got it back I hooked it up to my computer and updated the stuff on it as well as let it charge. After is says to safely disconnect, I disconnect it but it automatically turns off and won't turn back on. I've tried resetting it and nothing works. I thought the battery was dead but I've left it plugged in (not only USB on my computer but also tried an outlet) and it never completely charged. I've even left it plugged in overnight (well over the 4 hours it's supposed to charge). I have no idea what to do (It also took like at least a full day to completely charge the first time I've had it)

Hi,
Start the PC ( in Safe Mode ), hold down the Windows key and press R. In to the Run Box type msconfig and hit enter. In the System Configuration window, click the 'Boot' tab - if there is a tick in the box next to 'Safe Boot', click on it to remove this and click Apply to save the change. Still in the System Configuration window, click the 'General' tab and make sure that the radio button next to 'Normal Start-up' is filled in - if it isn't, click to select it and then click Apply.
Restart the PC and see if Windows now boots normally.

Help! iBook won't turn off!

A download went terribly wrong and now I can't turn off my iBook. I have a spinning rainbow circle and can't do anything else! Nothing responds. Plus, my iPod is connected and I can't disconnect it. What should I do?

Hi Joann,
Try to force quit the browser by pressing command-option-esc and then highlighting the browser and clicking "Force Quit". You can also force quit the Finder the same way. If that doesn't work, hold down the power key until it shuts off (about 5 seconds).
